THE MAN CLUB

FADE IN:

INT. PSYCHIATRIST'S OFFICE - DAY

DORIAN TASSIN, 17, opens the door and enters the office of
DR. JACK STILES, 30. He sits down in a chair, across from
Dr. Stiles.

                       DR. JACK
Hey man. What's your name?

                       DORIAN
Dorian Tassin.

                       DR. JACK
What's up, Dorian? What can I do
for you?

                       DORIAN
      (Hesitantly)
Well, I don't know. I guess I'm a
little confused.

                       DR. JACK
About what?

                       DORIAN
About life.

(Beat) Dr. Jack smiles.

                       DR. JACK
You mean, life in general...or are
you talking about something
specific?

                       DORIAN
Well...I guess life in general. I
mean, I don't feel ready for it.

                       DR. JACK
Why don't you feel ready for it?

                       DORIAN
I guess I don't know what's meant
for me. I don't know where I'm
going.

(Beat)

2.

                       DORIAN
I mean, I see kids that have
everything figured out. They know
what they're doing, and what
they're going to do. But me...I
just feel alone...like a child.

                       DR. JACK
Trust me, Dorian, you're not alone
in feeling like this. Most kids
that come to me don't feel ready
for life. But that's part of
growing up. Finding what you need
to do.

                       DORIAN
I guess...but what can I do now?

The bell rings.

INT. SCHOOL HALLWAY - DAY

Dorian walks through the hallway. He sees people milling
about.

INT. MATH CLASSROOM - DAY

Dorian enters the classroom. It's full of kids. The teacher,
MR. RAULINS, looks up as he enters.

                       MR. RAULINS
You're late, Dorian. Where were
you?

                       DORIAN
I was in a meeting.

                       MR. RAULINS
Oh, that's right. With the
psychiatrist. Are you feeling
better?

The class heard every word of this. Dorian gives an
inarticulate response. Dorian is acutely aware that he's
being watched. Several people flash big smiles at him as he
takes his seat.

                       MR. RAULINS
No, wait, Dorian. Here's your
test. You're going to have to stay
here to finish it.

3.

The bell rings. Kids begin to file out of the classroom.
Several kids purposefully brush against Dorian.

                       RANDOM CHARACTER
      (Snide)
Feeling better yet?

Dorian watches as the kids leave. He slowly walks to the
teacher's desk and grabs a test. He looks at the test. It's
labeled "Graphs of Polynomials."

INT. MATH CLASSROOM - LATER - DAY

Dorian is struggling through his test. He keeps looking
through the window. He watches as TANE CALVERT, 17, plays a
sport.

Dorian gets increasingly frustrated with his test.

                       DORIAN
All right, Dorian, we can do this.
C'mon, buddy, this isn't that
hard. It's only 3rd degree. Let's
get this done. Vamanos. Let's go.

Dorian pauses, staring at his test.

                       DORIAN
Okay okay, all right, let's go,
let's do this, let's go.

Suddenly, Dorian can't take it anymore. With a cry of anger,
he rips his test in half, and kicks his chair across the
room. After a moment's hesitation, he throws his math book,
too.

Dorian hears a sound at the window. He looks up, to see Tane
watching, amused, through the window.

                       DORIAN
      (Angrily)
What?!

Tane's expression changes. He motions Dorian outside.
Dorian, with a sinking feeling in his stomach, heads
outside.

EXT. OUTSIDE OF CLASSROOM - DAY

Dorian approaches Tane, nervous.

4.

                       DORIAN
Hey, look, man, I'm sorr -

                       TANE
No, dude, my name's Tane, and you
don't have to apologize for
anything. That was AWESOME! I was
all wrong about you! I thought you
were one of those emo kids or
somethin', but no way, you're a
man!

                       DORIAN
I am?

                       TANE
Oh yeah, dude. Definitely. You
should join our club.

                       DORIAN
The club?

                       TANE
The Man Club.

(Beat)

                       TANE
Okay, it's simple. The Man Club is
just what it sounds like - a club
for men. Easy, right?

                       DORIAN
I guess so.

                       TANE
We just meet every couple of
weeks, talking about things with
our fellow men; you know, just
chatting up our manliness. So, do
you want to come?

                       DORIAN
I guess so.

                       TANE
Trust me, dude - our meetings are
the shit. You should definitely
come. We're always looking for
more men to join.

                       DORIAN
Uh, all right. See you there.

5.

                       TANE
Wait, dude, you don't know where
it is! It's in the basement of the
Old Clinic on 8th. Be there at
four.

Dorian gives Tane a hesitant thumbs up. Tane beams at him,
and heads off.

INT. DORIAN'S HOUSE - DAY

Dorian enters his house and begins to trudge up the stairs.
GLENDA TASSIN, 42, pokes her head out of the kitchen.

                       GLENDA
Dorian, sweetie, how was your day?

                       DORIAN
Fine.

                       GLENDA
Anything interesting happen?

Glenda emerges from the kitchen and stares up at Dorian
expectantly. Dorian looks down at her.

                       DORIAN
Not really.

                       GLENDA
      (Concerned)
Are you feeling okay, sweetie?

                       DORIAN
I'm fine.

                       GLENDA
Are you sure? I can whip you up a
nice turkey sandwich.

                       DORIAN
I'm fine!

                       GLENDA
You sure?

                       DORIAN
Yes.

6.

Glenda stares after Dorian a moment, then heads back into
the kitchen. Dorian drops his backpack off in his room, then
heads back downstairs, to the living room. He flips the TV
on and settles in the chair.

Glenda emerges from the kitchen, carrying a turkey sandwich.
She sets it down in front of Dorian and smiles at him.

                       GLENDA
Just in case you change your mind,
sweetie.

Dorian says nothing. Glenda exits the living room. Dorian
resumes watching TV when Glenda emerges suddenly from the
kitchen again. She's carrying chips and a soda.

                       GLENDA
Here you go, sweetie.

Dorian watches her set the food down with some embarassment.
Glenda turns away, then puts a straw in Dorian's soda.
Glenda smiles at Dorian.

                       GLENDA
There you go!

                       DORIAN
Mom, I'm not a baby! I'm 17 years
old! I can get my own food!

Glenda looks at Dorian for a moment, then nods sadly. She
exits. Dorian returns to the TV after a moment, then
hesitantly picks up the sandwich and takes a bite out of it.

INT. CLINIC LOBBY - DAY

Dorian enters the busy Medical Lobby. He looks around
uncertainly. He doesn't know where to go. He looks at a
counter labelled "Information" and approaches it warily.

                       NURSE
Hi honey, what can I do for you?

                       DORIAN
Um...I'm here for a meeting.

                       NURSE
Sure thing. What kind of a
meeting?

(Beat)

7.

                       DORIAN
It's a meeting for school.

                       NURSE
What's its name?

                       DORIAN
The um, the Man Club.

(Beat)

                       NURSE
The Man Club?

                       DORIAN
Yes.

                       NURSE
I haven't heard of any kind of Man
Club meeting here.

                       DORIAN
They told me they were meeting in
the basement.

                       NURSE
Oh. Well, there's the hallway to
take you there. Just follow the
signs.

                       DORIAN
Thanks.

Dorian exits through the door. He briefly hears the sound of
laughter.

INT. CLINIC BASEMENT - DAY

Dorian looks around. He hears music coming from a distant
door. He approaches it and looks at a sign posted on the
door. It's the "man symbol." Dorian stares at it for a
second as the music continues to blare.

Dorian knocks on the door. The music just continues to
blare. Dorian knocks louder. The door opens. It's Tane.

                       TANE
'Sup dude. Glad you could make it.
Come on in.

Dorian and Tane enter the room.

8.

INT. THE MAN CLUB - DAY

Dorian and Tane enter a room filled with incense and
magazines. Dorian surveys the two other boys in the room
with some distrust. They are FLYNN WARNAU, 17, and EVAN
JONES, 17, who acknowledges Dorian with a slight nod.

                       TANE
Hey guys, this is Dorian, the
newest member of The Man Club!
Dorian, this is Flynn, and Evan.

                       DORIAN
Hey.

                       FLYNN
Hey.

                       EVAN
Hey.

                       FLYNN
Tane told us about how you went
nuts on that test of yours, man.
That's pretty hardcore.

                       DORIAN
Thanks.

                       FLYNN
So, you think you're a man?

                       DORIAN
Um - Yes.

                       FLYNN
What makes you a man?

                       EVAN
Yean. I mean, no offense, Dorian,
but we've never thought of you
as...manly. What makes you a man?

                       TANE
Whoah, whoah, back off, guys.
We're all civilized men here. Now
Dorian - he's a wild man. You guys
should have seen it. It was
intense.

                       FLYNN
So what? You ripped up a test? Why
does that make you a man?

9.

                       EVAN
Yeah, man. I mean, I've ripped up
tons of books in my life. Really
expensive books.

                       DORIAN
Well, what makes you guys men?

                       EVAN
We're all men in different ways,
Dorian. Look at this. This is an
iPod Nano. You don't see kids
running around with stuff like
this. And did you see that green
CRV out front? Yeah, that's mine.

                       DORIAN
But -

                       EVAN
When people see me with that
stuff, Dorian, they just KNOW that
I'm an adult. And if they treat me
like a man, I am a man!

                       FLYNN
And me. Look at me, Dorian. I'm a
ladie's man. I'm a P-I-M-P pimp.
I've had more girlfriends than
you've had wet dreams.

                       DORIAN
But -

                       FLYNN
Women think I'm a man, Dorian. And
guess what? I am.

Dorian turns to Tane expectantly. Tane shrugs.

                       TANE
I'm on Varsity, Dorian. Cross
county skiing. Everyone knows I'm
a man.

                       FLYNN
So, once again, Dorian - what
makes you a man?

(Beat)

                       DORIAN
I don't know.

10.

                       FLYNN
I knew it!

                       EVAN
Sorry, Dorian, you've got to be a
man to be in the Man Club.

                       TANE
Whoah, whoah, he doesn't need to
leave the club. Look, Dorian, you
want to be a man, right?

                       DORIAN
Of course.

                       TANE
Well, Dorian, I'll teach you how.

Dorian looks at Flynn and Evan. They look back, unimpressed.
Dorian looks at Tane.

                       DORIAN
All right.

EXT. A SIDEWALK - DAY

Tane and Dorian are walking down a sidewalk.

                       TANE
Okay, Dorian, we're going to make
you a man.

                       DORIAN
How?

                       TANE
Well, Dorian, a child is weak. But
a man is strong. So I'm going to
try my best to make you a man. And
that means we're going to need a
ton of sports drinks and protein
bombs.

                       DORIAN
Why?

                       TANE
Because, my friend, you're going
to join the cross-country skiing
team.

11.

                       DORIAN
But I don't like cross country
skiing!

                       TANE
Don't worry about it, Dorian.
You'll do fine. Besides, it
doesn't matter if you like it.

Dorian processes this, looking vaguely scared.

INT. SPORTS OFFICE - DAY

Dorian and Tane enter the Coach's office.

                       COACH
Tane, just the man I was looking
for! What's up?

                       TANE
Hey, what's up, Coach? Dorian here
wants to join the skiing team.

There is a pause. Coach looks Dorian up and down.

                       COACH
Um, sure...he'll have to try out,
of course.

                       TANE
Coach, I think Dorian would be a
great addition to the team.

                       COACH
Well, all right. You're the champ.
I'm sure Tane will be able to help
you out, Dorian. Welcome to the
Team.

                       DORIAN
Um...what do I need to get?

                       COACH
      (Dismissive)
Tane'll be able to help you out.

The Coach turns away. Tane slaps Dorian on the back
heartily. The two exit.

12.

EXT. BLM - DAY

Dorian is putting on his skis. Tane watchs approvingly.

                       TANE
See, Dorian, you're doing fine.

                       DORIAN
Tane, I'm just putting on my skis!

                       TANE
Ah, you're a natural. Come on,
stand up.

Dorian stands up.

                       TANE
Um, Dorian. You've got to
actually, y'know, attach the
bindings. They help to keep the
skis on and such.

                       DORIAN
Oh.

Dorian clips his boots on.

                       TANE
See, great, we're ready to rock.
Now...ski!

(Beat)

                       DORIAN
How?

                       TANE
Um, well, it's not that hard. Move
your left foot, then move forward
with your right. And then just
kinda...repeat.

Dorian moves forward awkwardly. He falls over.

                       TANE
Hey, that's okay, man. Just get up
and try again.

Dorian gets up. He attempts it again, doing somewhat better
this time.

                       TANE
See, that's good, good.

13.

Dorian continues to ski.

                       TANE
See, Dorian, you're a natural!

Dorian grins at Tane. He keeps on skiing.

EXT. SKI MEET - DAY

It's the day of the first ski meet. Tane, Flynn, and Evan
are watching Dorian get ready. He seems nervous but is
otherwise doing fine.

                       EVAN
He doesn't look too bad out there,
Tane.

                       TANE
You guys just watch. Dorian's
going to take this race.

                       FLYNN
Isn't he in the beginner bracket?

                       TANE
Well, yeah, of course, Dorian just
started a little while ago. But
he's got more natural talent than
everyone else I've seen. And
besides, there's a lot of people
in the beginner bracket.

                       FLYNN
Well, let's just see how he does.

Tane breaks off from Flynn and Evan and goes up to Dorian.

                       TANE
You ready, Dorian? You going to
take this?

                       DORIAN
I'll try.

                       TANE
You're going to do great.

                       DORIAN
We'll see.

Tane grins at Dorian. Meanwhile, Flynn and Evan watch from
aways.

14.

                       FLYNN
How do you think he's really going
to do?

                       EVAN
I don't know.

A few girls, including HALLIE DIAMONT, 17, approach Flynn.

                       HALLIE
Hey, Flynn.

                       FLYNN
Hey Hallie. We still on for
tonight?

                       HALLIE
Of course. Why are we out here?

                       FLYNN
We're just cheering on a friend
over there. Dorian Tassin.

Hallie gazes at Dorian as he stretches out.

                       HALLIE
      (Passive)
He's cute.

Flynn glances at Hallie. Tane meanders back.

                       TANE
Yeah, he's going to do great.

                       HALLIE
How'd you do, Tane?

                       TANE
Oh. I took first. Easy.

Hallie grins at Tane.

                       EVAN
So, you think this race here is
going to make Dorian a man?

                       TANE
He already is.

People begin to clear the trail. The racers, including
Dorian, line up. Tane, Evan, Flynn, and Hallie watch,
interested. The race official begins to count down.

15.

                       RACE OFFICIAL
On you mark, get set, go!

The racers shoot off, Dorian remaining towards the front of
the pack. His friends cheer him on as they disappear from
sight.

EXT. THE SKI PATH - DAY

Dorian is keeping up with the front of the group. Dorian
keeps looking down, verifying that his feet are going
through the correct motions.

EXT. SKI MEET - DAY

                       EVAN
Yeah, so my iPod nano should have
arrived already, but, you know,
those engravings take time.

                       TANE
      (Distracetly)
Yeah, definitely.

The racers burst around the corner. Dorian is in fourth
place.

                       TANE
C'MON, MAN, GO!

                       HALLIE
C'mon, Dorian, you can do it!

                       EVAN
      (To Flynn)
Man, I thought he'd be last for
sure.

                       FLYNN
      (Grudgling, To
       Evan)
Me, too.

Dorian puts on a bit of speed. He overtakes third place as
his friends cheer him on. He crosses the finishing line as
Tane, Flynn, Evan, and Hallie run towards him, cheering.
Tane knocks Dorian to the ground with a manhug.

                       TANE
Dude, you are HARDCORE!

16.

Dorian gets to his feet, a bit unshaky.

                       FLYNN
Not bad, Tassin. Not bad.

                       HALLIE
You were great, Dorian!

                       DORIAN
      (Embarrassed)
Thanks.

                       TANE
Dorian, dude, you're a freaking
MAN!

Dorian smiles in spite of himself.

INT. DORIAN'S LIVING ROOM - DAY

Dorian is sitting in his living room, watching TV again. The
phone rings, but Dorian doesn't answer it. Glenda, in the
kitchen, answers it, and moments later emerges into the
living room.

                       GLENDA
It's for you, sweetie.

                       DORIAN
It is?

Glenda nods, beaming at Dorian. He takes the phone
hesitantly.

                       DORIAN
Hello?

                       TANE
      (Over Phone)
Yo!

                       DORIAN
Hey Tane.

                       TANE
      (Over Phone)
You were killer out there today,
man. The ski team's going to hit
my house later tonight for a
little celebration. Are you going
to be there?

17.

                       DORIAN
I...I don't know.

                       TANE
      (Over Phone)
You don't know?

                       DORIAN
I...well, look, Tane. Can I tell
you something?

                       TANE
      (Over Phone)
What?

                       DORIAN
I don't think I really like
skiing.

There is a pause.

                       TANE
      (Over Phone)
Why not?

                       DORIAN
I don't know. I've just...never
been into it.

                       TANE
      (Over Phone)
But, Dorian...you were great out
there today.

                       DORIAN
No. I mean, I'm happy that I
placed...I just don't really care
about skiing. Do you understand?

                       TANE
      (Over Phone)
I'm sure you'll grow to like it.
Trust me, Dorian, everyone's going
to look at you differently now.
Don't you want that?

                       DORIAN
...I guess.

                       TANE
Good. Catch you later, Dorian.

18.

Dorian hangs up the phone. He resumes watching TV,
thoughtfully.

EXT. SCHOOL BLEACHERS - DAY

Evan and Flynn are sitting in the bleachers. Tane is playing
an impromtu game of football - in the snow. Dorian watches
from a ways away. Flynn notices Dorian, and waves him over.
Dorian approaches and sits down.

                       FLYNN
Hey, Dorian.

                       DORIAN
Hey. Why are they playing in the
snow?

                       EVAN
Because they're morons. It's
freezing out here. We should go
sit in my car.

                       FLYNN
Nah, I promised Tane I would meet
him. So, Dorian, think you'll
place at the meet against Fairview
next week?

                       DORIAN
I'll try.

                       FLYNN
Do more than just try. The people
on the ski team are serious about
it. They want to win.

The three boys watch as Tane receives a pass and then
charges through two other boys. Hallie crosses in front of
the bleachers where the boys are sitting. Flynn keeps an eye
on her and then turns to Dorian.

                       FLYNN
What do you think, Dorian?

                       DORIAN
About what?

                       FLYNN
About her. Hallie.

                       DORIAN
Oh. Um, she's cute. Why?

19.

Flynn muses this over.

                       FLYNN
No reason.

Dorian is still curious, but Flynn turns back to the
football game. Tane is receiving another pass. As he steps
back, however, his foot goes out beneath him with a crack.
Tane lets out a cry of pain.

                       DORIAN
Whoah!

Dorian, Flynn, and Evan jump to their feet.

                       DORIAN
Is he alright?

                       EVAN
Dude, his leg bent!

The three boys run over to Tane, who is being jumped on by
the other team. Tane is clutching his leg and cursing.

                       FOOTBALL PLAYER
Tane, you pussy, get up!

                       TANE
Shit! Dude, I think I broke my
leg.

                       FOOTBALL PLAYER
God, Tane. All you had to do was
catch the god damn ball. You're
fine.

                       TANE
No, I'm not!

A football player kicks his leg. Tane screams.

                       FOOTBALL PLAYER
Such a baby!

                       DORIAN
      (To Tane)
Can you walk?

                       TANE
Argh, no, it hurts too bad.

20.

                       FOOTBALL PLAYER
Look at that, Tane. Dorian's here
to save you!

                       FLYNN
Hey, shut up.

There's a pause as everyone considers what to do next.

                       FOOTBALL PLAYER
Whatever. Let's go, guys.

The football players leave. Dorian, Flynn, and Evan crouch
around Tane.

                       EVAN
How bad is it?

                       TANE
I can't walk on it at all. I
really think I broke it.

                       DORIAN
I'll get the nurse.

                       TANE
Please do.

Dorian runs inside the school.

Dorian and the Nurse come running out of the school.

                       NURSE
Okay, honey, let's see, which leg
is it? Does this hurt?

                       TANE
OH GOD, THE PAIN!! WHY WOULD YOU
DO THAT?! YOU CRAZY PSYCHO
BITCH!!!

                       NURSE
Okay, Honey, I'm going to go call
the ambulance.

                       DORIAN
Hang in there, man.

INT. SCHOOL - DAY

Flynn and Evan are talking in the hallway before school.
Flynn sees Dorian and motions him over.

21.

                       FLYNN
Dorian, have you seen Tane at all?

                       DORIAN
Not since Friday.

                       FLYNN
I tried calling him over the
weekend, but he didn't answer. I
hope he's okay.

Suddenly, Tane enters the school. He is in a wheelchair.
Everyone turns and watches him as he slowly makes his way to
his friends.

                       EVAN
Hey buddy, how are you feeling?

                       TANE
I'm in a wheelchair!

                       EVAN
Yeah, well...how long are you
going to be in there?

                       TANE
At the very least, I'll be in
crutches until the end of the
year.

                       DORIAN
Tane...

Dorian doesn't finish his sentence. Tane wheels away.

INT. SCHOOL LUNCHROOM - DAY

Tane is eating by himself in the lunchroom. Football players
come up to him.

                       FOOTBALL PLAYER
Dude, Tane, are you going to be
able to snowboard at all this
season?

                       TANE
Probably not, guys.

                       FOOTBALL PLAYER
Oh...that sucks.

22.

                       TANE
Yes. Yes it does.

                       FOOTBALL PLAYER
So...um, can I have your season
pass, then?

                       TANE
No!

                       FOOTBALL PLAYER
Oh...that's cool. See you around,
man.

The football players leave. Tane watches them go silently.

                       FOOTBALL PLAYER
      (in the background)
I liked him better with legs.

INT. SCHOOL HALLWAY - DAY

Dorian and Tane are moving/walking down the hall together.

                       DORIAN
The team really misses you, man.

                       TANE
They don't miss me, Dorian. They
miss the wins I brought them.

An awkward silence follows.

                       DORIAN
So, how are you holding up?

                       TANE
Nobody talks to me anymore,
Dorian.

                       DORIAN
I still talk to you. So does Flynn
and Evan.

                       TANE
None of my old friends do, Dorian.
Or at the least, none of the
people that I thought were my
friends.

(Beat)

23.

                       TANE
Sports were everything to me,
Dorian. Everything! I have nothing
without them. I'm not even Tane
anymore. I'm just some cripple in
a wheelchair.

                       DORIAN
Tane -

                       TANE
I'm not a man, Dorian. I'm a
cripple.

                       DORIAN
You were more than sports, Tane.
You were always kind to me. Look
at how you let me in the Club, and
helped me out. And look! We're
friends now.

                       TANE
Nobody else sees that part of me,
Dorian. It doesn't matter. (Beat)
Look, my ride is here. I gotta go.

                       DORIAN
Wait!

Tane turns back to Dorian.

                       DORIAN
Don't we have a Man Club meeting
tomorrow?

                       TANE
Yeah.

                       DORIAN
See you there.

INT. THE MAN CLUB - DAY

Dorian, Tane, Evan, and Flynn are sitting around a table.
Music is playing. Evan is listening to his nano, waving his
hands wildly, as to the song, "Dragostea Din Tei."

                       DORIAN
I quit the ski team.

                       TANE
What?! Why?!

24.

                       DORIAN
It was stupid.

                       FLYNN
But there were so many fine-ass
honeys on that team!

                       DORIAN
Guys, I've been with you for a
couple of weeks now, and I still
don't know how I'm going to be a
man. I mean, I've played sports
for weeks...but I don't feel
different.

                       TANE
Yeah, man...I know what you mean.
I mean, after I broke my leg, I
just noticed that...I don't know
where I fit in anymore.

(Beat)

                       FLYNN
Dorian, you can still be a man.

                       DORIAN
What do you mean?

                       FLYNN
There's a party this Saturday at
my house.

                       DORIAN
So?

                       FLYNN
So, I'm going to help you out.

                       DORIAN
Um, how?

                       FLYNN
Look, sports didn't work out for
you. That's okay! You can still be
a man in other ways! Look, you
know Hallie Diamont?

                       DORIAN
Yeah.

25.

                       FLYNN
She told me you were cute. You
think she's cute?

                       DORIAN
Um...yeah.

                       FLYNN
You should spend some time with
her at my party.

                       DORIAN
Um...okay.

                       FLYNN
It'll be awesome.

Evan stops and takes his headphones out.

                       EVAN
Hey, did I miss anything?

INT. DORIAN'S LIVING ROOM - DAY

Dorian is sitting in the living room, watching TV. His mom
passes by and he calls out to her.

                       DORIAN
Hey, mom?

                       GLENDA
Yes, sweetie?

                       DORIAN
There's a party at a friend's
house this Saturday. Can I go?

                       GLENDA
Oh, Dorian, sweetie, your first
party!

                       DORIAN
Mom!

                       GLENDA
Of course you can go! But! What
will you wear?!

                       DORIAN
Um...what I always wear?

26.

                       GLENDA
Oh, no, no, that just won't do! I
think I can find some of your
dad's old suits!

                       DORIAN
A suit? Mom, it's not that kind of
party!

                       GLENDA
      (Suddenly Stern)
Not that kind of party? Dorian,
there are going to be parents
there, right?

                       DORIAN
I -

                       GLENDA
Oh, of course there will be! Oh,
I'm so excited! I'll bring my
camera!

                       DORIAN
Mom, you can't go!

                       GLENDA
Of course not! But I can drive you
there! Oh, this is going to be so
exciting! You're so popular now!

Glenda carries on as she walks up the stairs. Dorian shakes
his head and resumes watching TV.

EXT. FLYNN'S HOUSE - NIGHT

Glenda is driving Dorian. Dorian is wearing a suit.

                       GLENDA
This is SO exciting! I can't
believe it! Now, remember, Dorian,
if anyone offers you alcohol, just
say NO!

                       DORIAN
Yes, mom.

They pull up in Flynn's driveway. Kids are meandering about,
holding red cups. Glenda beams at Dorian as he gets out.
Flynn, Tane, and Evan wave to Dorian.

27.

                       FLYNN
Hey, hey, there's the man!

Dorian hears the flash of a camera. He turns, embarrassed,
to his mother, who has just taken a picture! Several kids
smirk at Dorian. Flynn smiles at the camera as Glenda takes
another picture.

                       FLYNN
We'll take good care of your boy,
Mrs. Tassin.

                       GLENDA
I'll see you later, sweetie.

Glenda drives off. Flynn puts his arm around Dorian.

                       FLYNN
You're going to have a good time
here, Dorian. I think Hallie's
already inside.

                       DORIAN
So?

                       FLYNN
So you should hang out with her,
if you catch my drift.

                       DORIAN
But...I thought Hallie was your
girlfriend.

                       FLYNN
Dorian, I have plenty others.
Don't worry about it. Just have
some fun.

Everyone heads inside...except Tane. The door shuts, and
he's unable to get onto the porch. He rolls over to the
window to look in, and the blinds shut. It is cold.

INT. FLYNN'S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

Kids are standing around, talking. Evan is on the couch,
surrounded by plenty of people. He holds up an iPod Nano.

                       EVAN
Yeah, so it finally arrived. Isn't
it awesome?

28.

                       RANDOM CHARACTER
That's crazy.

                       EVAN
Yeah, it's pretty cool. It looks
good when I line it up with my
other five.

Dorian and Flynn are talking in a corner. Hallie meanders
over.

                       HALLIE
Hey Flynn. Uh, nice suit, Dorian.

                       FLYNN
Yeah, Dorian's looking good
tonight.

                       HALLIE
I'll say.

Hallie licks her lips in a sexual manner.

                       FLYNN
Whoah, hey, check out that foxy
piece of tail. I'll leave you two
alone.

Flynn heads off and starts macking on a girl across the
room. Dorian and Hallie look at each other, Dorian being a
little unsure.

                       DORIAN
So...good music.

                       HALLIE
Yeah, definitely.

(Beat)

                       HALLIE
I've seen you skiing. You look
pretty good out there.

                       DORIAN
Thanks.

                       HALLIE
So, what are you into?

                       DORIAN
i don't know, I guess I like...

29.

                       HALLIE
Hey, you wanna head upstairs or
something?

(Beat)

                       DORIAN
      (sweating beads)
Okay.

                       HALLIE
We don't have to if you don't want
to.

Flynn bursts into the room.

                       FLYNN
Hey kids, what are you still doing
here? I want to show you two
something.

Flynn leads Hallie and Dorian off to a room far away from
the rest of the party. They pass several rooms, from which
sounds of bed vibrations emit. Dorian shakes and is sweating
profusely. Tight-lipped he blindly follows Flynn into a room
at the end of the hallway.

INT. FLYNNS HOUSE, MAKEOUT ROOM - NIGHT

Dorian and Hallie are in a room, alone. Dorian is unsure
what to do.

Dorian lies awkwardly on the bed - with fright!! She slinks
over towards him, and begins to kiss him. Suddenly, she
stops!

                       HALLIE
I can't do this.

                       DORIAN
I'm sorry. I'm no good at this.

                       HALLIE
It's not you.

                       DORIAN
It's not?

                       HALLIE
I don't know. It's just that I
don't feel like doing this
anymore.

30.

                       DORIAN
I don't particularly want to do
this, either.

                       HALLIE
I hope you don't think that I am a
slut or anything. When I was
little, I never thought I would be
like this.

                       DORIAN
I don't think that anyone does.

(Beat)

                       DORIAN
Um...I didn't mean to call you a
slut or anything.

                       HALLIE
It's okay.

(beat)

                       HALLIE
When did life get so complicated?

                       DORIAN
I learned in health class, that it
has something to do with hormones.

Hallie laughs.

                       DORIAN
Yeah, it's really stupid. When we
grow up we won't have to worry
about this.

                       HALLIE
I hope so. I cannot wait until
college. When I am there I will be
free. Like a bird.

                       DORIAN
Yeah, college sounds like fun.

                       HALLIE
What do you want to do in college?

                       DORIAN
I don't know.

31.

                       HALLIE
I don't know either. I just want
to get out of Alaska.

Dorian laughs.

                       HALLIE
I like you, Dorian.

                       DORIAN
I like you too.

They continue talking, well into the night.

EXT. FLYNN'S HOUSE - NIGHT

Dorian and Hallie emerge, talking.

                       DORIAN
Wow, it's really late.

                       TANE
      (O.C.)
Enjoy your night, Dorian?

Dorian whips around. Tane is shaking in his wheelchair,
looking incredibly cold.

                       DORIAN
Holy shit! Tane, how long have you
been out here?

                       TANE
I don't know. When did the party
start?

                       HALLIE
Why didn't you use your phone to
call for help?

                       TANE
The buttons froze.

                       DORIAN
Man, Tane, if I had known you were
out here...

Evan and Flynn emerge from the house.

                       EVAN
Whoah, Tane! Didn't even know you
were here! Need a ride home?

32.

                       TANE
      (Bitterly)
Yes, thank you.

                       EVAN
What about you, Dorian? Need a
ride? Brand new CR-V. Right over
there.

                       DORIAN
No, I'm good. My mom should be
here any moment.

                       FLYNN
Man, was that an awesome party or
what?

Flynn scratches at his crotch.

                       DORIAN
Yeah, thanks for inviting me.

                       FLYNN
Man, I itch.

                       EVAN
Hope you didn't catch anything.

                       FLYNN
Yeah, I'm sure it's nothing. God
damn, does it itch, though.
Anyway, catch you guys later.
Tane, sorry you couldn't make it.

                       HALLIE
Bye, Dorian.

Glenda drives up. She beams as Dorian waves goodbye to
Hallie.

INT. SCHOOL CLASSROOM - DAY

Dorian, Tane, Evan, Flynn, and Hallie are sitting in a
classroom, being lectured to.

                       TEACHER
And so, while AIDS is certainly
the worst of the STIs, it's
certainly not the only one. Can
anyone name any others?

33.

The class glances around. Dorian watches as Flynn continues
to scratch himself. He stops when he sees Dorian watching
him.

                       HALLIE
I had a cousin who had crabs once.

                       TEACHER
Oh yes. Crabs, otherwise known as
pubic lice, are curable, but a
pain to have. They're small little
insects that live in pubic hair,
drinking blood. They're typically
spread through sexual contact, and
cause itching, burning sensations.

Flynn is not listening to a word of this. He continues to
scratch himself.

                       TEACHER
Fortunately, crabs aren't very
common. Only those who are very
sexually active have to worry
about them.

The whole class is watching Flynn now, including the
teacher. He stops scratching and looks around him.

(beat)

                       FLYNN
I gotta go, now.

                       TEACHER
Well, can you wait five minutes
until the end of the lecture?

                       FLYNN
No. It requires immediate
attention!

Flynn gets up, and runs out of the room.

                       TEACHER
I guess he really doesn't want to
learn about crabs.

INT. BATHROOM - DAY

Flynn is sitting in the stall. The sound of unzipping pants
is heard.

34.

                       FLYNN
What the hell are these things?!

INT. OUTSIDE NURSE'S OFFICE - DAY

Dorian, Tane, Flynn, and Evan are gathered outside the
nurse's office.

                       EVAN
Dude, you have to go in.

                       FLYNN
No way I'm gonna have the nurse
search through my private areas!
No way in hell.

                       DORIAN
She doesn't have to. She can just
give you some information or
schedule a testing or something.

Flynn scratches himself.

                       FLYNN
Guys, really, I'm fine.

                       TANE
You really think the girls are
going to like you if you have
crabs, man?

Flynn considers this for a moment.

                       EVAN
What do you have to lose?

Flynn opens his mouth as if to reply, but thinks better of
it. Defeated, he trudges into the nurse's office.

Door closes.

INT. THE MAN CLUB - DAY

Dorian, Tane, and Evan are gathered around a table. Flynn
slumps into the room, and throws his backpack to the ground.

                       DORIAN
How'd it go, Flynn?

                       FLYNN
Fine.

35.

Dorian looks at some flyers that are spilling out of Flynn's
backpack. One reads, "So you have CRABS." Flynn notices
this.

                       DORIAN
So, you have crabs.

                       FLYNN
Look, it's not a big deal. A
little dab of medicated shampoo
and they'll go away. I'll be Flynn
again in no time. No problem.

Flynn sighs. He burries his head in his arms.

(beat)

                       EVAN
So...I ordered my new iPod
yesterday.

                       FLYNN
It was humiliating.

(Beat)

                       EVAN
Yeah, this one plays videos.

                       FLYNN
You know, after you test positive
for one of these diseases, they
want to know the name of the
people you've slept with? And...I
couldn't do it. I've been with so
many people. And...I have to tell
everyone I have been with. Every
last one. It's going to be all
over the school.

                       TANE
People will forget, man.

                       FLYNN
That doesn't even matter. You know
what I was thinking while I was
there? I've been with so many
girls, right? And what do I have
to show for it? Nothing. Nothing
but crabs.

                       DORIAN
But...

36.

                       FLYNN
I haven't formed a meaningful
relationship in my life. It's so
stupid.

Flynn faces towards Dorian.

                       FLYNN
It's so stupid, Dorian. I don't
have anything to teach you.

                       DORIAN
Dude, you'll be fine. I can find
another way to become a man. I
don't think that I am very good
with girls, anyway.

                       EVAN
You still haven't talked to me
yet. I got lots of knowledge to
pump into your skull. Who here has
an iPod? That's right - me.

                       DORIAN
Ummm, so?

                       EVAN
Man, if you want to noticed, you
have to be successful, and that
means you need to have a lot of
stuff. Not just any kind of stuff,
expensive stuff. Sexy stuff.

                       DORIAN
But, I am not that rich. The most
expensive thing I have is my
television. I could never afford
any of this stuff.

                       EVAN
You don't need to, I got enough
shit for both of us.

INT. EVAN'S CAR - DAY

Evan is driving Dorian in a car.

                       EVAN
Okay, man, people believe in what
they see. If they see you with
stuff, then they'll assume you're
a man. Now, you don't need to
            (MORE)

37.

                       EVAN (cont'd)
actually own the shit, people just
need to see you with it.

                       DORIAN
Okay...

                       EVAN
So I've got a plan. First off, two
words - iPod Nano. You ever seen
someone with a Nano? They're,
like, the coolest kids on the
block for awhile. So you're going
to take my Nano around school.
Make sure people see you with it.

                       DORIAN
Whatever.

                       EVAN
I've got another crazy idea.
People are going to think this car
is yours.

                       DORIAN
But...I don't even have my permit!

                       EVAN
No problem, man. You don't need to
actually drive my car. You just
need to be seen in it! We'll sit
you in it in a parking lot or
something.

Suddenly, Evan stops abruptly. He points out a huge house to
Dorian.

                       EVAN
See that three-story wonder?
That's my house. Pretty cool, huh,
Dorian?

                       DORIAN
Um...I guess so. Are we going to
go inside?

                       EVAN
Um, no, man, I need to take you
home. We'll start tomorrow.

Dorian peers at the house briefly, then looks away.

38.

INT. SCHOOL HALLWAY - DAY

Dorian is pulling books out of his locker. Evan slides up to
him, Nano in hand. He discretly hands the Nano over.

                       EVAN
Here you go, Dorian. And here are
the headphones. The headphones are
key. When people see you with
them, they'll KNOW you have an
iPod! I mean, all you'd really
need are the headphones. Still,
though, you should show off the
Nano - it's cool.

                       DORIAN
Um, okay.

                       EVAN
Get to showing off, my little man.

Dorian walks down the hallway, headphones in ears, holding
the Nano very prominetly. A random classmate comes up to
Dorian.

                       RANDOM CHARACTER
Whoah man, that's a Nano! What
kinda songs do you have on it?

                       DORIAN
Um...well...good stuff, man. Lotsa
good stuff.

                       RANDOM CHARACTER
Man, everyone, come look, this
kid's got a Nano!

People begin to gather around Dorian, who is very confused
by this strange power. He sneaks a look at Evan, who flashes
him a thumbs up. Flynn and Tane come up to Evan.

                       TANE
What's up, man.

                       FLYNN
Why's Dorian popular all of a
sudden?

                       EVAN
He followed my advice, guys. He's
carrying my Nano around, and
everyone thinks he's a man.

39.

                       FLYNN
Dude, how can music make you a
man?

                       EVAN
How do crabs make you a man?

Dorian is still surrounded by this mob.

                       FLECK
Yah, I have one too.

                       RANDOM CHARACTER
Shutup, Fleck. No one cares about
you.

INT. SCHOOL LUNCHROOM - DAY

The four boys sitting around talking.

                       EVAN
See Dorian, it worked, Do you see
what I am talking about?

(Beat)

                       DORIAN
I guess, but I still don't see how
it makes me a man.

                       EVAN
If people think you are a man,
then you are one, Dorian.

Flynn and Tane look at each other. Random Character
approaches the group.

                       RANDOM CHARACTER
Hey man, aren't you the guy with
the Nano? Cool.

                       EVAN
See, I told you. That guy thinks
you are the man.

                       DORIAN
I am the man.

Dorian shrugs.

40.

INT. SCHOOL PARKING LOT - DAY

Dorian is seated in the driver's seat of Evan's CR-V. Evan
is standing outside.

                       EVAN
Okay, Dorian, time for phase two.
People know your name, but we need
to make your manliness concrete.
Just sit here. The bell will ring
any minute, and tons of kids are
going to file past here. Just be
seen.

                       DORIAN
...great.

                       EVAN
Oh, hey, man, do you have a cell
phone?

                       DORIAN
No.

                       EVAN
Damn! Here, take mine. Just look
busy. Trust me dude, it'll look
cool.

The bell rings. Evan makes himself scarce. Kids file past as
Dorian pretends to talk into the cell phone. Dorian acts
like he is very busy. Hallie walks by.

                       HALLIE
Hey...Dorian. What are you doing
sitting in Evan's car?

Suddenly, the phone starts ringing. Dorian fumbles around
it, trying to turn the phone off. Hallie laughs.

                       HALLIE
Why are you doing this, Dorian?

                       DORIAN
I'm just sitting here!

                       HALLIE
Sure.

                       DORIAN
It was Evan's idea.

Hallie gets in the car.

41.

                       HALLIE
Why was it Evan's idea that you
should sit in his car?

                       DORIAN
Evan thinks that if I sit in this
car, and look cool, and stuff,
people will like me and think
I'm...you know, manly.

(Beat)

                       HALLIE
      (With laughter)
Why do you want people to think
you're manly?

                       DORIAN
I don't want people to think I'm
just some...kid.

                       HALLIE
Dorian, you're not a kid.

                       DORIAN
Sometimes I feel like one.

                       HALLIE
Why?

                       DORIAN
I guess it's because of all these
other guys at this school. They
seem to have everything pretty
figured out.

                       HALLIE
I'm not so sure about that.

                       DORIAN
Well, I mean...look at T-erm, Fly
- erm, look at Evan. He has
everything figured out. He know
what he wants and everything like
that...where he's going!

                       HALLIE
What do you mean? Evan just likes
stuff. What will that do for him?

                       DORIAN
Well, I mean...I don't know.

42.

                       HALLIE
When I talk to my parents about
college, they say that they didn't
know what they wanted to do until
their third year. Look at you,
you're trying to figure it out in
High School. Just relax and wait.
You'll figure out what you want,
when you need it, Dorian.

                       DORIAN
I guess you're right. Look at me,
I am sitting in a car because
someone else thinks that it will
make me cool. Maybe I don't need
to worry about it that much.

Evan returns to the vehicle.

                       EVAN
Whoah whoah whoah, what is SHE
doing here? She'll mess my car up!

                       DORIAN
We're just talking, man.

                       EVAN
I'm just kidding. But seriously
though, don't leave any of your
stuff in here. (Aside To Dorian)
How'd it go?

                       DORIAN
      (Aside to Evan)
It was fine. I learned a lot.

                       EVAN
See, dude, I told you. Oh, hey,
I'll be right back.

Evan runs off. Hallie grins at Dorian, takes off her
bracelet, and tosses it into the backseat.

                       HALLIE
Whoops. (Laugh) I'll see you
later, Dorian. And don't worry
about being a kid. You're too old
for that stuff.

Hallie punches Dorian playfully on the arm. She gets out of
the car, with Dorian watching her as she goes.

43.

INT. FLYNN'S BEDROOM - DAY

Dorian, Flynn, and Tane are playing videogames (Halo 2) over
at Flynn's house.

                       FLYNN
Damn! How'd you get so good with
the plasma rifle?

                       DORIAN
Real men are good at Halo 2.

All three boys laugh.

                       TANE
Man, I am hungry. We should order
a pizza or something.

                       FLYNN
Yeah, me too. But I don't have any
money. My parents kinda took all
my money to pay for my treatments.

                       DORIAN
Why don't we head over to Evan's?
He always has money.

                       TANE
Load me up, boys. I think his
house is near here.

                       DORIAN
Yeah, he pointed it out to me
once.

The three boys leave.

EXT. "EVAN"'S HOUSE - DAY

The three boys knock on the door to "Evan's" house. A man
answers it.

                       UNCLE
Can I help you?

                       DORIAN
Yes, is Evan here?

                       UNCLE
Evan Jones?

44.

                       DORIAN
Yes.

                       UNCLE
Um, he doesn't live here.

                       DORIAN
He doesn't?

                       UNCLE
Yes. I'm his Uncle. Evan hasn't
been here for months now.

(Beat)

                       TANE
Um, do you know where he is?

                       UNCLE
Sure thing. He lives over at 5286
East 80th.

                       DORIAN
Thanks.

The Uncle shuts the door.

                       DORIAN
Why did he lie about where he
lived?

The three boys depart!

EXT. EVAN'S HOUSE - DAY

Dorian, Tane, and Flynn arrive at Evan's house. Evan is
standing on his front lawn, being yelled at by his DAD.

                       EVAN'S DAD
What the hell were you thinking?
Did you think I wouldn't find out?
Did you think you could just take
my company car wherever the hell
you wanted? Huh? Did you?

                       EVAN
But...but...how did you know?

Evan's dad holds up Hallie's bracelet.

45.

                       EVAN'S DAD
Did you think I wouldn't see this?
You've been driving your friends
around in MY company car! You know
you aren't allowed to drive this!

Evan turns and sees the three amigos. He is shocked.

                       EVAN'S DAD
You are grounded until the snow is
gone! And...I'm taking back my
Nano!

                       EVAN
No! It's mine, you gave it to me!

                       EVAN'S DAD
Well, I'm taking it back.

Evan's Dad storms inside. Evan slowly turns to face the
boys. (Beat)

                       FLYNN
So...Evan...uh...want to go get
some pizza?

Evan glares at him and stomps inside. The three boys look at
one another.

INT. SCHOOL HALLWAY - DAY

Dorian is walking down the hallway. He spots Evan searching
through his locker. Dorian goes up to Evan.

                       DORIAN
Hey man. How're you doing?

                       EVAN
Fine.

Two kids come along.

                       RANDOM CHARACTER
Hey Dorian, where's your Nano?

                       EVAN
He doesn't have it anymore. Get
out of here.

The two kids leave.

46.

                       EVAN
My dad, took away all my stuff.

                       DORIAN
What, you mean your Nano, and your
car?

                       EVAN
Yeah, my only way to get home is
to take the bus, and the stop
nearest to my house is a mile
away.

                       DORIAN
I'm sorry man.

                       EVAN
Yeah, but I guess now I can't
teach you anything about being a
man.

                       DORIAN
Oh well.

                       EVAN
I don't think my dad will ever let
ne drive that car again, or use
his nano. So I guess you are not
going to have all those people
flocking to you anymore.

                       DORIAN
That's okay.

Fleck appears at the boys' side.

                       FLECK
So, Dorian I heard you lost your
nano. How's it feel to be number 2
to the Fleck?

Fleck walks away, laughing crazily.

                       EVAN
Who was that?

INT. THE MAN CLUB - DAY

The four boys sit around morosely. Dorian sighs.

                       FLYNN
What's wrong, man?

47.

                       DORIAN
I don't know...I mean...I've been
in the Man Club for weeks
now...and I still don't feel like
I'm a man.

The other three boys watch him silently.

                       DORIAN
I mean...I still don't even know
what a man is.

He turns to Tane.

                       DORIAN
What makes you a man, Tane?

                       TANE
I don't know, man. I thought it
was sports...but...I don't feel
like much of a man anymore.

                       DORIAN
And you, Flynn? What makes you a
man?

                       FLYNN
Dude, I don't know anymore either.
Everyone knows I have crabs now.
Everyone avoids me now.

                       DORIAN
What about you, Evan? Why are you
a man?

                       EVAN
Don't even talk to me about that,
man. On the way here, a man on the
bus asked me for money. I didn't
even have any to give to him. I
felt so stupid. I felt like a
child.

                       DORIAN
I mean...guys, how can anything as
stupid as sports, or girls, or
things...how can those things make
you a man?

(Beat)

48.

                       DORIAN
Those things are so easily taken
away. Shouldn't being a man just
be something inherent? Shouldn't
it be something on the inside?
Isn't being a man just...knowing?

The three other boys continue to watch Dorian silently. No
one says anything.

                       DORIAN
I mean...I want us to all still be
friends and stuff...but this Man
Club thing...it just doesn't work,
guys. You can't help me be a man.
You can't help me figure out what
it takes to BE a man.

(Beat)

There is silence.

INT. PSYCHIATRIST'S OFFICE - DAY

Dorian enters Dr. Styles' office. He sits down as Dr. Styles
smiles at him.

                       DR. JACK
Hello again, Dorian. How are you
doing?

                       DORIAN
Okay, I guess.

                       DR. JACK
So...did you ever figure out what
was meant for you, Dorian?

                       DORIAN
Not really. These past weeks I
actually have been in...well, a
Man Club.

                       DR. JACK
A Man Club?

                       DORIAN
Yeah. It sounds stupid, but it was
just kinda a group of friends. And
everyone else in the Man Club knew
what they were doing in life. They
tried to help me.

49.

                       DR. JACK
And how did it go?

                       DORIAN
All the guys tried their best, but
they couldn't help me. They
couldn't make me a man.

                       DR. JACK
What do you think a man is,
Dorian?

                       DORIAN
See, that was the thing. I didn't
know. My friends all thought that
they knew, but it was stupid
stuff. They cared more about what
other people thought of them.

(Beat)

                       DORIAN
I guess I realized that none of
that stuff makes you a man. It's
all inside. A man is just someone
who does what he has to do when
the time comes.

                       DR. JACK
Dorian, you have this pretty well
figured out. You are more of a
man, than some of my best friends.

(Beat)

                       DORIAN
Thanks.

The bell rings.

                       DORIAN
I guess I have to go.

Dorian grabs his bag and walks into the hallway.

INT. DORIAN'S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

Dorian walks into his house and sits down in front of the
tv.

50.

                       GLENDA
Hey sweetie. I made you some
dinner.

Glenda places sandwich on the table.

(Beat)

                       DORIAN
Thanks Mom.

Dorian picks up his sandwich and turns to the tv. He sits
there for a while, and then turns it off.

INT. ALTERNATIVE SKI SCENE - SCHOOL HALLWAY - DAY

Flynn, Hallie, and Evan are talking in the hallway.

                       HALLIE
Flynn, where have you been? I
never see you anymore!

                       FLYNN
I've been busy, Hallie. You know -
Man Club stuff.

                       HALLIE
Hrm.

Tane walks past our three heroes. He sees something on the
wall, which reads "BEGINNERS SKI BRACKET RESULTS." He is
shocked to see Dorian's name under the "3rd" category.

                       TANE
Holy shit! Guys, Dorian took 3rd
in that ski race today!

                       FLYNN
What?!

                       EVAN
No way!

The two approach and scrutinze the scoresheet. Tane spots
Dorian at the end of the hallway. Tane yells down the
hallway at Dorian.

                       TANE
HEY, DORIAN! Why didn't you tell
me you took third?

51.

Tane runs down the hallway to Dorian as heads turn. Hallie
gazes at Dorian.

                       HALLIE
Oh, so THAT'S the Dorian you were
telling me about, Flynn. Hey, you
know - he's pretty cute!

Flynn glances at Hallie, and then back to Dorian, where a
crowd is forming around him. Hallie giggles a little bit and
then leaves.

                       EVAN
Man, Flynn, maybe Dorian's more of
a man than we thought.

Evan leaves.

                       FLYNN
      (To Himself)
Maybe he is. Maybe he is...

FADE OUT.

you deserve five stars or much more. You will be in buisness, keep moving and you will be amazed at your skills. Make it a bit longer. As an actor I kind of characterized with that character, " Manly." Good Job! Play on playa.

From Philip Fleckenstein Date 10/29/2005 ****
Great start....I am definitely partial to the character Fleck and his goatee. I really enjoyed the way in which this script developed with the character trying out stereo typical "manly" activities and not feeling fulfilled by any of them. My favorite part was when everything "Manly" was gone at the end of the script and the main character finally feels most like a "man". I cant wait to see this revised and filmed. Good luck.
