RATED

In 1980's San Francisco, ex-car thief Donny Briggs learns about the score of a lifetime while in prison. Back on the outside he reunites with his group of friends (Knuckles) to help in stealing 20 million dollars from a nightclub operated by a volatile crime boss. While planning the perfect heist, Donny struggles with keeping the ambitious cop who originally put him behind bars him off his trail, rekindling a relationship with the love he left behind, and the fear of disappointing his loving family again. After a seemingly successful heist, the crew realizes that along with their new found wealth they have acquired an unexpected surprise. Now the pressure is on the crime boss and his team of ruthless bodyguards to reclaim their stolen property. This sets the stage for a climatic showdown between the Bay Area's criminal underworld and the police force with the Knuckles stuck in the middle of it all!

Loud grunting from an intense workout fills the air.

The World Gym employee points to the grunting and hands
Donny a visitor's badge.

                       DONNY
Awesome, thanks.

As Donny walks into the facility the grunting grows louder.

Donny stands directly behind the machine Kip is using. He
looks at Kip and his own reflection in the mirror.

                       DONNY
Jesus, Kip! When'd you get so big?

                       KIP

                       JASON
Whatever, did you just come here

Kip glances around the store and leans in to speak.

                       KIP
Get this, guess who's out?

                       JASON

                       DONNY
Lainey, I didn't want you to see
me like that. Locked up like some
animal, with the only form of
communication through a letter or
three inches of glass.

                       LAINEY
Jesus Donny, you just shut me out.
How'd you think I would feel?

                       DONNY
You think it was easy for me to
shut you out? It was the only way
I could deal with not being with
you Lainey. Hell who knows, maybe
it was for the best. To give you a
clean break in finding someone who
wouldn't hurt you.

shown being sentenced in court then sent to San Quentin
Prison.

                       DONNY (V.O.)
So I was outta prison, reformed
and rehabilitated. Ya right, I was
about as reformed as the Pope was
Muslim. I knew how to do one
thing. Guess you could say I stole
for kicks, hell you can say
whatever you want but boosting
came easy to me. Getting pinched
was just part of the territory,
hell my exploits made national
news so every cop in San Fran was
working my case in one way or
another. Some people might have
learned their lesson after doing
two to five in San Quentin.

12.

Would ya look at that, San
Quentin's lettin anybody out these

                       DONNY
How you doin Sal,..Mikey.

The Spinelli's exchange handshakes and friendly hugs with
Donny and begin to walk toward club entrance.

                       DONNY

changed.

                       MIKEY

Donny.

                       SAL
Whoa!..Can't you say excuse me?

                       RICO

and you haven't apologized yet.

                       DONNY
Whoa, whoa, everyone just calm
down. I'm sure it was just an
accident.

Yo, Donny my man!

                       DONNY
Mr. Smooth himself, whats shakin

                       JASON
Hey you know Donny, just a

                       DONNY
Likewise man, I'm glad you guys

                       KIP
      (to Sal & Mikey)
What the hell was all that about
up front?

14.

                       MIKEY
You know how muscle heads get, too
much steroid injections or
somethin. No offense Kip.

                       KIP
None taken, you know lifting a
weight or two wouldn't hurt you.

Mikey pats his ample midsection.

                       MIKEY
What and ruin this figure, no
thank you.

                       SAL
I hate these security fucks.

A waitress brings over a round of shots and drinks.

                       JASON
Hey forget that shit, Donny's home
and we're all back together. So
lets celebrate.

                       DONNY
Three wise men, J?

                       JASON
Four horsemen...had to step it up
a notch.

They raise their glasses to toast.

                       JASON
Allow me fellas. To Donny being
home and looking sharp I might
add. To the knuckles being
together again, and running things
in San Fran like the good ole'
days. Oh and to Mikey finding the
drunkest girl in here to take
home.

They share a laugh then down the shots.

                       SAL
So Donny, how was it in there bro?

                       DONNY
Eh, three hots, a cot, occasional
shanking, rec time. Coulda been
worse ya know?

15.

                       MIKEY
Ya well you're outta that shit
hole for good my man. We all
missed you Don.

The group sits in a moment of silence looking around the
club. They then finish their drinks.

                       DONNY
I gotta tell ya though, it is
weird seeing how much the city's
changed.

                       KIP
It's gone high tech Don, gotta
keep par with LA.

                       JASON
      (to Donny)
You see Lainey yet? You know she
works at Silvio's in the mall.

                       DONNY
Ya, we kinda bumped into each
other already.

                       JASON
Whatcha think?

                       DONNY
About what?

                       JASON
You gonna try to get back together
or what?

                       DONNY
Tell you the truth, its the last
thing on my mind.

                       MIKEY
You kiddin me, Don? I mean you
gotta be thinking about gettin
some for crissakes. Only so much
shower jerkin a guy can do ya
know.

Sal slaps Mikey on the back of his head.

                       MIKEY
What! I mean Donny's fulla shit if
he's says he's not thinkin about
Lainey. J am I right or what?

16.

                       SAL
What did Pop say about watching
what you say before you just spit
it out?

                       JASON
It doesn't happen often, but I
gotta agree with Mikey on this
one.

                       MIKEY
Will you guys quit bustin my balls
already. So Don, have you thought
about whats next? You could come
work at the shop, Pop's looking
for a new gunsmith.

                       DONNY
Tell him I appreciate that, but
that's actually why I wanted us
all to get together tonight. Hold
on a sec.

An attractive waitress approaches.

                       XPLOSION WAITRESS #1
Ready for another round gentlemen?

                       KIP
Same all the way around, sugar.

Waitress walks away.

                       DONNY
So check this out. I knew this guy
on the inside, fat fuck...from
Jersey or somethin, anyways this
guy would talk and talk. He never
shut up to tell ya the truth. This
guy kept yard time interesting
with his "I'm in the mob stories",
but we weren't goin anywhere so we
all listened. One day this guy
starts going on and on about how
he's got a cousin who bought some
club in San Fran, so this got my
attention ya know.

Waitress approaches again with drinks.

                       XPLOSION WAITRESS #1
You gentlemen enjoy.

17.

Waitress walks away again.

                       DONNY
Where was I?

                       KIP
The fat fuck's telling you about
the new club in the Bay.

                       DONNY
Oh right. Okay so, like I said
this guy gets my attention but
everybody else is fed up with his
bullshit so they all scatter.
Again he's goin on and on about
how the family is sending his
cousin out west to open up a few
clubs.

                       SAL
So the cousin, he made?

                       DONNY
No, but he's got heavy connections
with some big family back east.

                       JASON
So he's rich or somethin, his
family has money I mean?

                       SAL
      (to Jason)
When he says family, he means "La
Famiglia", you know.

                       MIKEY
      (to Jason)
Ya you know, La Cosa Nostra, the
mafia, Marlon Brando.

                       JASON
Ya, I got it Mikey.

                       DONNY
So yeah, once I saw how much this
place has changed I figured what
the guy told me about his cousin
and this club was more than likely
not total bullshit.

                       SAL
So Donny, what's it like, you
wanna go into the club business. I
mean that's cool and all but like
            (MORE)

18.

                       SAL (cont'd)
you said this place already has an
owner.

                       DONNY
Not exactly in the club business,
no.

                       KIP
Well, what exactly fool?

                       DONNY
I'm going to, no, no lemme
rephrase this. I want us..to rob
this club.

                                         BEAT

Everyone again is silent with mild looks of disbelief with
the exception of Donny.

                       SAL
Oh!, this fuckin guy. First day
out the joint, and he's already
planning his next racket. Perfect
product of the California Penal
System lemme tell ya!

                       MIKEY
Ya, good one Don. Seriously give
Pop's offer some thought.

Donny is silent with a concentrated look on his face.

                       JASON
I don't think he's messing around
guys.

                       KIP
Donny...you're an ex-con, first
day out the clinker. We're sittin
here trying to enjoy a few drinks
with you, unwind and all that
after you been away two years and
you drop somethin like this. What
is it you're saying anyway? You
wanna rob some supposed wannabe
mobster's nightclub?

                       MIKEY
And with us no less.

19.

                       DONNY
Look fellas,..I've known you guys
my whole life, you're my family.
In all the jobs I've ever pulled,
how many times did I ask you to
come in with me? This is a sure
thing, what con's like me call the
score of a lifetime. I won't do it
without you guys, hell I can't do
it without you guys.

                       JASON
      (to Donny)
Say we even considered this for a
second. This is a nightclub. How
in the hell are we supposed to
believe whatever we nab outta here
would be worth the risk? I mean on
a good night we're walkin out with
what, twenty, thirty g's? That
ain't peanuts but it ain't worth
five to ten in San Quentin either.

                       DONNY
It's enough to set us up for life.

                       MIKEY
What Don, they gotta savings &
loan in here somewheres?

                       DONNY
You could say that. Listen, the
guy who owns this club is into
some heavy shit. I'm not gonna get
into here and now but believe me,
its a huge payday.

                                         BEAT

The group sits in another moment of silence while each
directs their view on various locations within the club to
collect their thoughts about their decision.

                       KIP
You say its a sure thing huh?

Donny nods his head.

                       KIP
I'm in, just don't get me killed.

                       DONNY
Sal, Mikey.

20.

                       SAL
We're in.

                       MIKEY
Don't fuckin do that.

                       DONNY
Mikey?

                       MIKEY
I'm in Don.

                       DONNY
Whats it gonna be J?

Jason looks at the group.

                       JASON
Saved the best for last
huh?.............. Lets do it.

                       DONNY
Gentlemen, this calls for a toast.

The group raise their glasses to toast.

INT. BRIGGS HOME - DAY

Donny wakes up, heads downstairs and begins to eat a bowl of
cereal. His father later joins him.

                       MR. BRIGGS
Morning Don.

                       DONNY
Morning.

                       MR. BRIGGS
You're up early son. I thought you
might wanna sleep in today.

                       DONNY
Nah, I've had plenty of rest the
past few years.

                       MR. BRIGGS
Rested enough to come work with
your old man?

                       DONNY
You serious? Dad that would be
great but I don't want you putting
your reputation on the line with

                       MR. BRIGGS
My reputation would mean nothing
if I couldn't help my own son.

                       DONNY
I appreciate that a lot dad, but
I've found something I may be
interested in.

                       MR. BRIGGS
So tell me, what have you decided
to get into?

                       DONNY
Clubs.

INT. CLUB XPLOSION-OFFICE - DAY

The office phone in club Xplosion is heard ringing. Rico
answers the call.

                       RICO
Hello..........Just one moment
please.

Camera follows behind Rico as he walks through club hallways
to find PAUL TURK eating breakfast in the club VIP section.

                       RICO
Telephone call for you Mr. Turk.

                       MR. TURK
Well who in the fuck is it, Rico
I'm having my breakfast.

                       RICO
Victor Salazar, sir.

Turk gives a concerned look to Harold.

                       MR. TURK
Well put him on for crissakes.

Rico hands Turk a telephone.

                       MR. TURK (on phone)
This is Turk........Yes. Well I
can assure you Mr. Salazar the
recommendations are not
unwarranted..............Usually

we handle shipments in paper form
if you will. No, no, that
shouldn't be a problem. I'll have
someone contact you about further
arrangements. Goodday to you sir.

Turk hands the phone back to Rico. Stands up and flips the
table over in disgust, then sits back down. He then regains
his composure as if nothing had bothered him.

                       MR. TURK
Harold, cancel next Friday's Miami
shipment. We'll be handling a
special arrival of Victor
Salazar's. Oh and Harold, a Sly
Reed has apparently taken it upon
himself to authorize this shipment
for us. I'd like you to find him
soon as possible so I can thank
him personally.

                       HAROLD (O.S.)
Yes sir.

Turk lights a cigar with a cold, emotionless look on his
face.

EXT. SHOOTING RANGE - DAY

Donny and his father begin to unload cased pistols,
shotguns, and revolvers from the trunk of Mr. Briggs' car.
They haul them to a desolate outdoor shooting range. Donny
begins to clean and load several of the pistols.

                       MR. BRIGGS
Still know how to use one of those
things?
      (points to the
       barrel of pistol)
This is the dangerous end.

Donny gently takes the pistol away from his father and takes
aim at target posted fifty feet away.

                       DONNY
This end?

Donny empties the clip of eight rounds into the target
hitting the bulls-eye on all eight rounds.

23.

                       JAKE (O.S.)
Haven't lost your touch, I see.

JAKE walks toward Donny carrying a pump action shotgun.

                       DONNY
One of the few things I could do
better than you.

                       JAKE
Hows it goin little brother?

                       DONNY
It's goin.

Donny and Jake exchange handshakes and a awkward hug.

                       JAKE
I see you're still a crackerjack
with a gun, but how are you with
one of these?

Jake hold up a throwing knife. Donny grabs it and hurls it
end over end with it connecting with the bulls eye as well.

                       DONNY
How's that?

                       JAKE
Not bad kid.

EXT. BRIGGS HOME - FRONT YARD - DAY

Donny and his father arrive back home to see a packed
suitcase on the front steps.

                       MR. BRIGGS
Looks like your sister's home from
camp. You should see her Don. The
brat that use to tattle on you and
Jake for everything, she's
disappeared.

                       DONNY
Man, I'll bet. Whats it like
having a teenage daughter?

                       MR. BRIGGS
Stressful, I'm dreading the day
some little shit comes over a to
take Lisa out.

24.

They share a laugh and exit the car. Jake begins to help
them unload the the weapons when LISA BRIGGS bursts out of
the front door to jump on Donny's back.

                       LISA
Donny!

                       DONNY
Excuse me, but do I know you? Oh
I'm sorry, you must be the high
school friend of my kid sister
Lisa my parents told me about.

                       LISA
You're such a nerd Donny, but I'm
so glad you're home from, whats
the name of the place you were
fighting?

                       DONNY
Russia, you know the funny lookin
guy.

                       LISA
Oh yaaa, the guy with the spot on
his head!

                       DONNY
You know when I left you weren't
even up to here on me. Now yo...

                       JAKE
Now she's taller and ever more of
a pain.

Lisa playfully punches Jake.

                       LISA
Hey Donny, wanna go to the mall
later?

                       DONNY
God I'd love to Leese, but um,
uh,. Hey tell ya what I'll
definetly take a raincheck on
that.

Lisa turns and jumps on Jake's back for a "piggyback ride."

                       LISA
Jake, Jakey, Jakeypooh!!!

25.

                       JAKE
Can't hear you, my ears are
allergic to you.

Jake and Lisa walk toward and enter the house. Donny and his
father continue to unload the weapons from the trunk.

                       DONNY
She looks so different. You were
right dad.

                       DET. WINTERS (O.S.)
Father's usually are.

                       DONNY
Now this is a surprise. To what do
I owe this honor?

                       DET. WINTERS
Hi ya doin Don. Mr. Briggs good
afternoon to you sir.

                       MR. BRIGGS
Detective Winters.

                       DONNY
Making housecalls now?

                       DET. WINTERS
You know its funny, heard you were
out, figured it being such a nice
day n' all, why not come by and
formally welcome you home.

                       DONNY
Uh-huh, or in other words see if
I'm up to old tricks.

                       DET. WINTERS
Now Don, what would make you think
something like that. You're
rehabilitated right? I know that.

                       DONNY
Exactly.

                       MR. BRIGGS
My son has been through a lot
detective. He's done his time, all
of that is in his past.

26.

                       DET. WINTERS
I'm sure thats the case Mr.
Briggs. Like I said this was just
a friendly drop-in to see how
everything was getting along.

Winters turns to walk back to his car.

                       DONNY
Should I expect more friendly
visits?

As he's entering his car.

                       DET. WINTERS
      (knuckle-rolling a
       coin)
That depends on you Don. I guess
you can expect to see me from time
to time. You take care now....
Mister Briggs.

Donny and his father watch Winters drive away. Donny's
father puts his arm around him and gestures toward the
house.

                       MR. BRIGGS
Lets eat son.

EXT. SLY REED'S APARTMENT - NIGHT

Paul Turk's bodyguards are parked in front of Sly Reed's
apartment waiting to chauffeur him to Club Xplosion.

                       RICO
Evening Mr. Reed.

                       SLY
Hey Hiya doin champ. Now this is
what I call style.

Rico opens the door to the limo for SLY REED and he enters.
Inside the limo are Harold, and two other Turk bodyguards.
Rico enters the front passenger door.

                       SLY
Hows it goin fellas.

                       HAROLD
Mr. Turk appreciates you meeting
him on such short notice. He's
anxious to show his gratitude for
your handling of the Salazar deal

I'm ready to do some serious

Sly begins to pour himself a drink while the limo takes off.

INT. DONNY'S MUSTANG - NIGHT

LAINEY'S APARTMENT

Donny waits outside of the department store Lainey works at.
He watches Lainey exit the store and get into her car. He
then follows to her apartment.

He then waits a short time after she has entered the
apartment then walks to the door and rings the doorbell.

                       LAINEY (O.S.)
One minute!

Lainey opens the door with a confused look on her face.
Donny gives Lainey a smirk.

                       LAINEY
I guess we can add stalking to
your rapsheet.

                       DONNY
What can I say, I'm a boyscout.

                       LAINEY
Did you really follow me here?

                       DONNY
Something like that. Well Lainey,
you gonna invite me in or leave me
standing on your doorstep like a
hobo?

Lainey reluctantly gestures Donny inside.

                       DONNY
Nice place, cute in a Lainey of
type way.

28.

                       LAINEY
Thanks for your approval. Now what
is it I can do for you?

                       DONNY
Well I asked if I could see you.

                       LAINEY
And I told you where you could see
me. This definitely wasn't the
place I meant.

                       DONNY
You look really nice, do you have
a date or something?

                       LAINEY
I'm meeting someone for dinner.

                       DONNY
Anyone I know?

                       LAINEY
Highly doubt it, just a guy I met
at the store.

                       DONNY
Mixing business with pleasure are
we, tisk tisk.

                       LAINEY
Look whose talking, anyways you
can make yourself at home while I
finish getting ready. So if you'll
excuse me.

Lainey walks into her bedroom.

                       DONNY
You wanna know what my biggest
fear was while I was locked up?
That you'd be married when I got
out, maybe even have a kid or two.

                       LAINEY (O.S.)
Well lets just say I had a intense
hatred toward men for awhile, but
I got over it. You know, really I
should thank you. Our situation
made me a different person, I
don't rely so heavily on men
anymore.

29.

Lainey comes back into the living room.

                       LAINEY
Well the surprise visit was.....

Lainey looks surprised as Donny is pouring champagne into
glasses.

                       LAINEY
You took make yourself at home a
bit too literal didn't you. Donny
what are you doin?

                       DONNY
One drink, for the road.

                       LAINEY
Donny, I'm late as it is and I
really shouldn't anyway.

                       DONNY
Cmon, one drink is not gonna hurt
you. We haven't seen each other in
two years.

                       LAINEY
Whose fault is that?

                       DONNY
It's mine, and I'm trying to make
amends.

Donny hands Lainey a glass of champagne.

                       LAINEY
One drink and then I'm outta here.

                       DONNY
Of course. One drink.

INT. TURK'S LIMO - NIGHT

DILAPIDATED FACTORY

Sly Reed is drinking champagne and rambling about his
business deals to Turk's bodyguards. They remain silent as
he looks out of the window and notices they are in a
industrial area of San Francisco.

30.

                       SLY
Hey, where the hell we goin? I
thought I was meeting Turk at the
club?

                       HAROLD
Relax MR. Reed, Mr. Turk had to
take care of something. We're en
route now to pick him up.

                       SLY
Well where the hell are we? I hate
this part of town, lil too "dark"
if ya know what I mean.
      (notices Rico
       giving him a hard
       stare)
Uh, no offense or anything bro.

The limo pulls into what appears to be an abandoned factory.
The bodyguards and Sly exit the limo.

                       HAROLD
Right this way Mr. Reed.

                       SLY
Jesus fuckin Christ, this is a
real shit heap. You sure Turk's
here?

                       HAROLD
Mr. Turk is involved in a
renovation project with the city
commission. They are focusing on
turning this site into
condominiums. Right through here
Sly.

Harold ushers Sly Reed through a small door with dim
lighting in the next room.

                       SLY
Sly?, what happened to the Mr.
Reed business. Hey, how come its
so dark in here, where are the
goddamn lights in this place.
Paul!, you in here!...Paul!

Sly Reed is noticeably frightened.

He hears quick footsteps moving toward him.

A second later Sly is knocked unconcious

31.

INT. DILAPIDATED FACTORY - NIGHT

Sly Reed awakes from being rendered unconcious.

The room is dim lit but he can see a temporary medical
station set-up equipped with scalpels, IV's, medical
bandages and rubber tubings.

Turk's bodyguards surround the room.

                       SLY
      (groggily)
Wha...what is going on? Where am
I? I don...I don't understand.

                       MR. TURK (O.S.)
Sly. Look at the predicament
you've got yourself into.

Turk emerges from the darkness.

                       SLY
Turk, why do yo....you have me
here? I ca..

                       MR. TURK
Shhh, try and save your strength.
I can only imagine how frightened
you must be right now, but try and
remain as calm as possible. I'm
going to be asking you a few
questions. Answering them
truthfully and correctly is very
important. Now, are you ready to
begin?

                       SLY
Paul I...

Harold viciously strikes Sly to the face!

                       HAROLD
      (to Sly)
Address him as Mr. Turk please.

                       SLY
Mr. Turk, I..I don't understand.
What's goin on, I feel so, so
weak.

                       MR. TURK
Well you see, there are these
nasty little toxins floating
throughout your bloodstream. Not

32.

                       MR. TURK (cont'd)
knowing your prior medical history
I'm willing to bet that is what
you feel.

                       SLY
What, what the fuck have you done
to me!

                       MR. TURK
All this will be explained in due
time. It's time for my questions
Sly. Now I suppose the most
obvious question would be, do you
work for me?

                       SLY
No, Mr. Turk.

                       MR. TURK
Uh-huh. Well then what gave a two
bit, street dealing maggot such as
yourself the idea to broker a deal
with Victor Salazar on my behalf?

                       SLY
Mr. Turk, please I,I

Harold grabs Sly by his hair and jerks his head backwards.
Sly screams in agony.

                       HAROLD
Answer the questions Mr. Turk asks
please.

                       SLY
The word had been spread around
about one of Salazar's people
being in town. They were looking
for a clean house to protect their
product until it was ready to be
shipped back to Columbia Mr. Turk.
I thought you'd be happy.

                       MR. TURK
Your thinking seems to be your
bugaboo Sly. I do however
appreciate your honesty through
all of this. Rico, please tell Mr.
Caninak we're ready for him.

Rico leaves momentarily and returns with a man whose face
looks aged from war. He is wearing medical type attire.

33.

                       SLY
Who is this guy, please Mr. Turk I
am so sorry, I had no idea.

                       MR. TURK
Enough, save some dignity Sly. I'd
like to introduce you to Orslav
Caninak. He specializes in
bio-chemical weapons. I would give
you a more detailed biography of
Mr. Caninak but that's not really
important. However, what is of
most importance, is that you
listen carefully to what he has
to..

                       SLY
Please don't Mr. Turk, keep him
away. It'll never happen again I
swear to Christ!

                       MR. TURK
Sly, I know it will never happen
again but please don't interrupt.
Now as I was saying Mr. Caninak
here will be offering you valuable
information in regards to what has
happened to you. My only advice is
that you pay careful attention.

                       SLY
What have you done to me, why do I
feel so weak?

                       MR. TURK
Well I'll let Orslav take over
from here.

                       SLY
Mr. Turk, please. I just thought
that maybe....

                       MR. TURK
There you are again Sly, thinking.
Let me guess,.. you thought that
maybe you and your family would be
still be alive by nightfall
perhaps?

Turk's bodyguards push in Sly Reed's wife and young son who
are bound at the mouth and hands.

34.

                       SLY
Oh my god, no, don't do this
please.

                       MR. CANINAK
      (Eastern European
       accent)
Mr. Turk I am ready to begin now.

                       MR. TURK
Ah, well that's my cue Sly. Enjoy
the afterlife.

Turk, Harold, and two other bodyguards make a quick exit.

                       MR. CANINAK
The substance I have injected into
you is something of a new
experiment of mine. Mr. Turk has
given you the option of choosing
this
      (holds up syringe)
or a bullet for your family. May I
suggest you go with the bullet sir
because your death is going to be
most unpleasant.

                       RICO
      (to Caninak)
I don't know Doc, my suggestion
would be the syringe. It'll give
us all a chance to nail his wife.

Sly's wife and son weep and grimace in fear. Sly's face is
full of terror and despair.

                       MR. CANINAK
      (to Rico)
You may want to stand back.

                       SLY
Arrrrrrgh!

Sly's body goes into extreme convulsions. Blood starts to
drain from his eye's. It's a horrific sight.

Caninak flashes a look of geunine pleasure.

35.

INT. LAINEY'S APARTMENT - NIGHT

Lainey & Donny are sitting on opposite ends of her couch.
They have visibly gone through the bottle of champagne and
are working on a second bottle.

                       LAINEY
Well, you were a little
apprehensive. I gave you a
friendly nudge in the right
direction.

                       DONNY
Is that what you call it? I think
I'd call it a push.

                       LAINEY
Oh stop your crying, it wasn't
that far up.

                       DONNY
No, no you're right. Eighty feet
off a cliff is no big deal.

                       LAINEY
      (snorts)
I forgot how much you made me
laugh.

                       DONNY
Was that a snort?

                       LAINEY
      (playfully punches
       Donny on the arm)
Shut up! It was not a snort,....
it was a hiccup.

                       DONNY
Sure thing, Ms. Piggy.

They both stare at each other wanting to kiss but Lainey
turns away.

                       LAINEY
Whoa. I think I may have had a
little too much champagne.

                       DONNY
Nonsense, this is only our what,
second bottle? Pricey stuff,
where'd you get this from anyway?

36.

                       LAINEY
From Richard.

                       DONNY
Richard?

                       LAINEY
      (burps)
Richard, you know the guy who I'm
meeting for dinner, Richard the
guy who is gonna kill me! Oh my
God Donny I am so late! You did
this on purpose didn't you?

                       DONNY
Did what?

                       LAINEY
Got me drunk.

                       DONNY
You're drunk? You don't look it.

                       LAINEY
Whatever. Look, you should go, or
I should go, one of us should go.

                       DONNY
Get real, there is no way I'm
letting you drive in your
condition. I'll go.

                       LAINEY
Wait, don't leave.

                       DONNY
You're beautiful, you know that?

Donny & Lainey passionately kiss.

                       LAINEY
No, no, I,.. we shouldn't be doing
this. This can't lead anywhere.

They passionately kiss again. Lainey aggressively starts to
undress Donny.

                       DONNY
Hold on.

Donny grabs a pistol that was tucked into his pants and sets
it on the coffee table.

37.

                       LAINEY
Donny, why do you have that thing?

                       DONNY
      (attempts to kiss
       Lainey)
Huh?

                       LAINEY
The gun, why do you have it?

                       DONNY
Oh that, it's my dads. I'm taking
it to Sal & Mikey's shop to have
it customized for him.

                       LAINEY
      (grabs the gun)
It's so big.

                       DONNY
This Richard, does he have a gun?

                       LAINEY
Not like this.

                       DONNY
I remember you like big guns. He
ever let you fire his?

                       LAINEY
      (drops the gun)
Yeah, but he only shoots blanks.

They begin passionately kissing again.

Donny scoops Lainey up and carries her to the bedroom.

They make love with Richard Marx's "I Just Died in Your Arms
Tonight" playing on the radio.

INT. LAINEY'S APARTMENT - DAY

The sun is shining through on Donny's eyes to awaken him.
Donny then snuggles against Lainey. She turns to her side
and kisses him passionately.

                       DONNY
Well good morning to you too.

                       LAINEY
You want some breakfast?

38.

                       DONNY
Aww, that's sweet but I actually
have to run.

                       LAINEY
You don't wanna lay in bed a
little longer?

                       DONNY
Trust me, there is nothing more
I'd rather do than lay in bed with
you all day. Unfortunately I made
plans with the guys today.

                       LAINEY
Oh of course. I'm already taking a
backseat to the guy's again.

                       DONNY
Shh, stop. It's nothing like that.
I just haven't seen them since
I've been home. We're gonna shoot
some shit up, you know guy stuff.

                       LAINEY
Sure, sure. It's okay go play with
your dirty little friends.

                       DONNY
Meet me for lunch later?

Donny gets out of the bed and begins to get dressed.

                       LAINEY
I can probably do that.

                       DONNY
Cool what sounds good?

                       LAINEY
Anywhere just as long as it's your
treat.

                       DONNY
I'll call you and yes my treat.

Donny leans down and kisses Lainey then walks out of the
door.

INT. SAL'S CAR - DAY

39.

WAREHOUSE

Sal is driving with Donny on the passenger side. Kip, Jason
and Mikey are in the backseat.

                       MIKEY
This is just great. I get to be
lucky Pierre in my own brother's
car.

                       JASON
Well, there it goes.

                       MIKEY
Where what goes?

                       SAL
We wondered how long it would be
before you started whining about
something.

                       MIKEY
Fuck you, I'm merely pointing out
a fucked up situation on my behalf
is all.

                       KIP
Jesus, enough you two. This car
is too cramped as it is to deal
with your bullshit.

                       JASON
So what exactly are we looking
for?..................Donny?

                       DONNY
Huh?

                       JASON
You day dreamin up there?

                       DONNY
Sorry, I'm just trying to spot the
perfect place.

                       JASON
Yeah, that's my question. Place
for what exactly?

                       DONNY
Operations, need somewhere to
plan, and make our safe house
afterward.

40.

                       JASON
Oh, right.

                       KIP
What kinda place you got in mind,
like a old warehouse or something?

                       DONNY
Yeah, pretty much. Somewhere
isolated from eyes but close
enough to the mark.

                       SAL
      (pointing to a
       building)
What about this one?

                       DONNY
Not bad. Sal pull over and lets
check this out.

They all exit the car and walk up to an empty warehouse.
Donny begins looking through a small window in the front
door.

                       DONNY
Everybody give Sal a hand. He just
found our new office.

                       SAL
      (takes a bow)
It was nothin really.

                       JASON
You serious Donny, this place is a
dump.

                       DONNY
I'm sure, we're not gonna be
living here. D, how far would say
the club is from here, time wise?

                       KIP
Five, ten minutes tops. Depending
on traffic.

                       MIKEY
Shouldn't we get as far away from
the club as possible?

                       DONNY
I'd love to yeah, but you gotta
remember what we'll be carrying.
The faster we get off the street
            (MORE)

41.

                       DONNY (cont'd)
and out of sight the better. No,
this is perfect.

                       MIKEY
I'm ready to go if you ask me,
when we doin this?

                       KIP
I second that, this is all I've
thought about the past couple
days.

                       DONNY
Patience guys. We have a lot of
planning to do before we're ready
to pull this off. Do any of you
know someone on the inside at
Xplosion?

                       SAL
Not me, can't stand all the girly
men in that place to be honest.

                       MIKEY
J, you use to nail that one broad,
tall, brunette, great tits.

                       JASON
Been so many my friend, be more
specific.

                       MIKEY
You said she use to cheer lead for
the Niner's or some shit.

                       JASON
Oh yeah, Rachel. How could I
forget.

                       MIKEY
The other night we were there, I
saw her. Runnin' drinks back and
forth from the back or somethin.

                       JASON
I forgot she worked there, good
call.

                       MIKEY
Man, I'll never forget those tits.
How were they by the way, real?

42.

                       JASON
They taste real,.... good.

                       DONNY
Okay, if that is the same girl
then she'll be our inside person.
J, think you'll be able to squeeze
a little info outta her?

Mikey & Jason share a brief laugh together.

                       JASON
She's a talker from what I
remember, so I'll see if I can
work some magic.

                       MIKEY
Pfft.

                       DONNY
Good deal, everyone else cool with
ten o'clock?

The each nod their heads in agreement.

                       DONNY
Alright lets get outta here.

INT. CHINESE RESTAURANT - DAY

Donny & Lainey are finishing their lunch.

                       DONNY
How was it?

                       LAINEY
Surprisingly good.

                       DONNY
Why are you surprised?

                       LAINEY
It's just that I'd forgotten how
much you enjoy these little dive
restaurants.

                       DONNY
I take it Theodore doesn't like
mom and pop shops right?

43.

                       LAINEY
It's Richard, and no as you could
see from the champagne. He does
have a taste for life's finer
things.

                       DONNY
What about you?

                       LAINEY
What about me?

                       DONNY
You know, a taste for the finer
things?

                       LAINEY
Right now, I have a taste for this
chop suey. It's great you really
should try some.

                       DONNY
      (consults his
       wristwatch)
Is it possible for you to take the
rest of the day off work?

                       LAINEY
Anything's possible, but what for?

                       DONNY
I just wanna go somewhere with
you, no big deal.

                       LAINEY
      (stares at Donny)
Let me run to the restroom then
make a phone call. Excuse me a
minute.

Lainey walks to the women's restroom.

                       DET. WINTERS (O.S.)
Mind if I join you?

                       DONNY
Uh, I'm having lunch with a
friend.

Winters sits in Lainey's chair.

44.

                       DET. WINTERS
Yeah I know, cute girl.
      (grabs a menu)
Hows the food here anyway?

                       DONNY
You follow me here to ask about
the food detective?

                       DET. WINTERS
Well no. Actually, I wanted to see
how the job prospects are coming
along.

                       DONNY
I appreciate your concern. Things
are goin' just fine.

                       DET. WINTERS
That's great to hear. We just
don't want you reverting back to
old habits.

                       DONNY
It's like you said, I'm
rehabilitated, I don't steal cars
anymore.

                       DET. WINTERS
      (knuckle-rolling a
       coin)
San Fran's a big town Don, lots of
other things to steal.

                       DONNY
You know this is beginning to feel
alot like harassment.

                       DET. WINTERS
See that hurts. Here I am trying
to see how an old friend is
getting along and....

                       DONNY
      (slams the table
       with his fist)
Friend!?, I fail to recall when
exactly we became friends. Must
have been before you sent me away
for two years.

45.

                       DET. WINTERS
      (looks at
       surrounding
       patrons)
Calm down Don, we're in public.
The Judge sent you away Don. I
just arranged the meeting.

                       DONNY
I bet you got a big kick out of it
too right?

                       DET. WINTERS
You were breaking the law Don,
just don't do it again. If you do,
I'll be right there to slap the
cuffs on like last time.

                       DONNY
Lemme ask you somethin.
      (nods his head at
       the coin)
Whats with you and that thing?

                       DET. WINTERS
      (pinches the
       silver dollar
       between his
       fingers)
What this? It's my lucky silver
dollar. You have a good luck,
charm don'tcha Don?

                       DONNY
Never much believed in it.

                       DET. WINTERS
Is that a fact? Enjoy the rest of
your lunch sir.

Winters walks away.

                       DONNY (V.O.)
No one can make sir sound
insulting the way a cop can.

Lainey rejoins Donny at the table.

                       LAINEY
Who was that?

                       DONNY
Uh, Jehovah's Witness.

46.

                       LAINEY
Are you alright?

                       DONNY
Yeah I'm fine, why?

                       LAINEY
Well I remember the look in your
eyes when you would get upset. You
have that look right now.

                       DONNY
Yeah, I just hate being bothered
when I'm eating. Anyways, what did
your boss say?

                       LAINEY
Pretty much what I thought he
would. Goddamn it, shit, not this
again, followed by, fine do
whatever.

                       DONNY
What does that mean?

                       LAINEY
It means I have the rest of the
day off. Where are we going?

                       DONNY
I thought we could take a drive
out to Pacific Beach.

                       LAINEY
Didn't we swear to never go back
there?

                       DONNY
Lainey that was a long time ago.
We were just kids.

                       LAINEY
      (glances at her
       stomach)
You're right, we were just kids.
Anyway, are we going?

                       DONNY
Sure, let's go.

47.

EXT. PARKING LOT - DAY

DONNY'S MUSTANG & LAINEY'S CAMARO

After leaving the restaurant Donny & Lainey are walking to
their cars.

                       DONNY
You wanna ride with me?

                       LAINEY
No thanks, I'll follow you.

                       DONNY
This isn't what you were driving
the other night is it?

                       LAINEY
No, I had Richard's car. This is
my baby.

                       DONNY
Well just try to keep up ok.

                       LAINEY
And whats that supposed to mean?

                       DONNY
Nothing, its just that this is a
66' fastback, and that's, well
it's a Chevy.

                       LAINEY
Okay smart ass. How about we see
who gets to Pacific first.

                       DONNY
Are you kidding me?

Lainey peels away.

                       LAINEY
Bye Donny!

                       DONNY
      (puts on his
       sunglasses)
Guess not.

Donny jumps in his Mustang and catches up to Lainey.

They engage in a friendly race on the highway jostling for
front position to the beach.

48.

"Valerie" by Steve Winwood is the music score for this
scene.

EXT. PACIFIC BEACH - DAY

Donny & Lainey are walking along the shore, the sun is
beginning to set.

                       DONNY
So what did you end up telling
Richard about last night?

                       LAINEY
I told him the truth. That my
ex-con former boyfriend and I
drank the champagne he gave me,
completely forgot about our date,
then concluded the evening by
having passionate sex.

                       DONNY
I imagine he took that well.

                       LAINEY
Naturally.
      (stops walking to
       face Donny)
Look, Donny. This is happening so
fast. I don't want to get hurt
again. Can you promise me that?

                       DONNY
Lainey, the last thing I wanna do
is hurt you again.

Donny puts his arm around Lainey as they continue walking
down the shore.

INT. CLUB XPLOSION - NIGHT

Donny & Jason are shown sitting at the bar drinking and
engaging in conversation.

                       DONNY
So tonight I'm gonna be keeping a
low profile, just simply observing
the layout of the club. Meanwhile
you'll be doing your thing.

49.

                       JASON
What kinda information am I
supposed to be asking about?

                       DONNY
I'm gonna explain the job in more
detail to everyone tonight, you
need to find out if she knows
about their security. How many are
staffed, if she knows about
camera's, any habits they have we
might be able to use. Remember,
you have to be discreet as
possible.

                       JASON
      (to bartender)
Excuse me gorgeous, there a girl
name Rachel workin tonight?

                       XPLOSION BARTENDER
Tall brunette?

                       JASON
You got it.

                       XPLOSION BARTENDER
She's working VIP tonight. Can I
get you guys anything else?

                       DONNY
No thanks.
      (to Jason)
I'm gonna go have a look around.
You're on.

                       JASON
Right.

Donny walks toward the restrooms looking around at different
areas of the club.

He locates the security office and continues walking toward
the restroom.

As Donny nears the men's restroom he looks down the other
end of the corridor and notices a club security guard
standing outside an elevator.

He starts walking toward the elevator impersonating an
intoxicated patron.

50.

                       DONNY
      (staggering &
       mumbling)
Goddamn, she can't tell me what
to, heeeeeey, how ya doin there!

                       XPLOSION SECURITY # 1
      (British accent)
Whoa, easy Chum. Where do you
think you're going?

                       DONNY
Isn't this the pisser, outta my
way. I gotta a hot young lady
waiting for me.

                       XPLOSION SECURITY # 1
This isn't the head. You already
passed it you drunk bastard.

The waitress Jason knows walks past Donny as the security
guard is holding him back and enters the elevator. Donny
gets his first look into the inside of the elevator.

                       DONNY
Hey, this isn't the pisser. It's
down the hall. You, you're doin a
fine job here.

Donny walks toward the restroom keeping up the act then
regains his compusre and heads back toward the bar.

                       JASON
Where the hell you been?

                       DONNY
Sight seeing. How'd it go with
you?

                       JASON
I damn near had to wear a condom
just to talk to her. We're in
business.

                       DONNY
Excellent. Alright lets blow this
popsickle stand.

                       JASON
      (to bartender)
Thanks babe.

51.

INT. WAREHOUSE - NIGHT

Kip, Sal & Mikey are sitting inside the warehouse when Donny
& Jason walk through the front entrance.

                       DONNY
How'd you guys get in here?

                       SAL
      (holds up a
       crowbar)
We had a key.

                       DONNY
And they call me a criminal.

                       MIKEY
We need more lights in this fuckin
joint! I tried taking a piss in
the bathroom but I could barely
see my own dick.

                       DONNY
You sure that's because of the
lights Mikey?

                       MIKEY
      (gestures to his
       groin)
Has to be, somethin this big ain't
easily lost ya know what I mean.

Everyone shares a laugh. Kip finds a breaker panel and
switches on more lights.

                       KIP
Thats better.

                       DONNY
Good call Kip, alright boys time
to get down to business. First
things first, I assume everyone is
still in on this one hundred
percent?

                       JASON
You know it, Don. We're all in.

                       MIKEY
Of course, yeah.

52.

                       DONNY
Just double checking. Now, here's
the story. Like I said, this guy
isn't a made man exactly but he's
heavily connected.

                       SAL
Another wanna-be wiseguy, fuckin
disgrace.

Begin Montage (rapid, quick - cut images)

Donny explains the process during the montage.

1. CLUB XPLOSION (NIGHT - MONTAGE) Shipments being brought
into Club Xplosion. Paul Turk's body guards unloading
trucks filled with cases containing large amounts of cash.

                       DONNY (V.O.)
Like I was saying, he's a
mid-level guy, but he has his own
operations. South American drug
cartel's have have their money
laundered, counted, then shipped
to legit businesses around the
country. These businesses act as
midway storage points for the cash
until the heat from DEA or the
Fed's die down. Once the coast is
clear, the money is shipped out
back across the border clean as
can be. It works so well because
the business fronts are
successful, highly recognized
establishments, so the money can
all be accounted for.

                       JASON
And our little club, its one of
these places?

                       DONNY
Yes sir, Club Xplosion just so
happens to be one of America's
finest drug money fronts.

                       MIKEY
And we're gonna steal it?

                       DONNY
I've always been partial to the
term rob personally, but rob,
steal, whichever you prefer.

53.

                       MIKEY
We're gonna rob some South
American drug lord's money?

                       KIP
No, we're gonna rob the nightclub.
Then we're gonna steal the drug
lord's money.

                       DONNY
I know what you're thinkin, but
once we make off with the cash.
We're gone, a memory. The money
may be accounted for, but the last
thing this guy will want to do is
have a full blown investigation on
his hands.

                       JASON
Well what about the drug lord guy?

                       DONNY
They're prepared to take losses,
there's no insurance in their line
of work. Besides, who do you think
he'll be after. The guy who lost
his money or six ghosts.

                       SAL
So how much we talkin here?

                       DONNY
The guy's cousin said when they
first started out anywhere from
five to ten million could be
housed there. The way cocaine is
being pushed out of South America
these days, I'd estimate ten,
fifteen million easy.

                       JASON
Whats fifteen mil split five ways?

                       KIP
More than Record City is paying
you thats for sure.

                       DONNY
Yeah, its a lot. But the split is
gonna be six ways, not five.

54.

                       KIP
What the hell you talking about
Don? You keep saying six, but I
count five of us.

                       DONNY
We're gonna need help on this one
fellas. Some technical expertise
if you will. Trust me, I've known
this guy my whole life. Now lets
get outta here. Tomorrow Jason is
gonna get more info about the
inside, and I'll introduce
everyone to the other guy.

                       MIKEY
You know Don, a hand only has five
knuckles.

Donny pats Mikey on the back and everyone starts to exit the
warehouse.

INT. BRIGGS HOME - BEDROOM - NIGHT

Donny is lying on his back in bed. His eyes are open as he
begins more inner monologue.

                       DONNY (V.O.)
After about an hour of tossing and
turning I gave up the idea of
sleep. My mind was all over the
place. Mom, dad, Lisa, Lainey I
had disappointed them all before,
and now I was planning a
milti-million dollar robbery. I
keep telling myself to walk away,
you haven't done it yet, just walk
away. But who was I kidding, if
there is someone in this world
that can reason with Donny Briggs
it sure isn't me. Mikey's right,
we've never included anyone else
before, but this guy is the
perfect shill. And he is also my
brother.

Donny closes his eyes.

55.

INT. D&D SECURITY & SURVEILLANCE - DAY

Donny enters D & D, and is greeted by a young female
receptionist.

                       D&D RECEPTIONIST (On phone)
      (alternates
       between phone
       lines)
Thank you for calling D & D, will
you hold please? Thank you for
calling D & D can you hold please?
      (to Donny)
How may I help you sir?

                       DONNY
Hi, I'm here to see Jake Briggs.

                       D&D RECEPTIONIST
Do you have an appointment with
Mr. Briggs?

                       DONNY
No, I was just dropping by. I'm
his brother.

                       D&D RECEPTIONIST
Mr. Briggs is in a meeting right
now. If you'd like to have a seat,
his meeting should be over
shortly.

                       DONNY
Thanks.

                       D&D RECEPTIONIST (O.S.)
Thank you for holding, how may I
direct your call?

Donny begins reading a newspaper. On the front page the
headline reads "Husband & Wife Slain; child left left at
scene".
Jake enters the front lobby escorting business clients out.

                       JAKE
I want to thank you again for
coming, and we should have those
installed by Monday. Have a safe
trip.
      (notices Donny)
This is a surprise.

56.

                       D&D RECEPTIONIST
Mr. Briggs, National First Bank
has called several times, and this
gentlemen has been waiting for
you.

                       JAKE
Thanks Mel.
      (to Donny)
Donny, can I get you some coffee
or anything?

                       DONNY
No I'm good, you got a minute?

                       JAKE
Seems like that's all I ever have.
Come on back.

They walk to Jake's office. Donny glances around at the
state of the art infrastructure.

                       DONNY
You've done well for yourself big
brother.
      (in reaction to
       Jake's office
       size & contents)
Very well!

                       JAKE
Hey thanks, but don't be fooled.
I'm really a nobody around here.
Have a seat.

Jake takes out a cigarette and offers one to Donny.

                       DONNY
No thanks.

                       JAKE
How's everything going for you so
far?

                       DONNY
Not too bad, you'll never guess
who I bumped into a couple of days
ago.

                       JAKE
Mark McGuire.

57.

                       DONNY
Lainey, smartass.

                       JAKE
You mean you cut her off too?

                       DONNY
Yeah, something like that. The
same went for her as with you
guys, just wanted the good part of
my life to have nothing to do with
the bad, you know?

                       JAKE
I can't even begin to imagine what
it was like for you Donny. I'm
just glad you're out and safe. I'm
glad you came by to talk.

                       DONNY
Well actually, I have a favor to
ask of you.

                       JAKE
Anything, what is it?

                       DONNY
I need your help on a job.

                       JAKE
I thought dad had something lined
up for you?

                       DONNY
Yeah he does, but I need your help
on a job not getting one.

Jake sits silent for a moment staring intently into Donny's
eyes. The moment of silence is interrupted by Jake's
secretary on the intercom.

                       D&D RECEPTIONIST (from intercom)
Mr. Briggs National First again on
line two.

                       JAKE (on intercom)
      (to receptionist)
Tell them I'll have to call them
back Mel.
      (to Donny)
Just what the in hell are you
talking about?

58.

                       DONNY
You supply and install
surveillance cameras to all the
major businesses in the area
right? You happen to be in a
position to help us become
overnight millionaires. And all
you have to do is your job.

                       JAKE
You gotta be kidding right? Don, I
have deadlines up the ass so if
this is some kind of joke, I
really haven't got the time right
now.

                       DONNY
Is it safe to talk in here?

                       JAKE
Safe from what? If this is going
where I think it is I don't know
if I even wanna hear anymore of
this.

                       DONNY
Jake, I'm not asking you to help
me stick up a bank. All you'd have
to do is tinker with a few
cameras. No dirty work, we're
talking millions Jake.

                       JAKE
HAVE YOU LOST YOUR FUCKING MIND!?
      (regains composure)
Have you lost your fucking mind?
Whats it gonna take for you to
grow up? Your bed in prison is
still warm for crissakes and
you're trying to bring me in on a
robbery scheme. I can't fucking
believe you.

                       DONNY
Jake, just settle the hell down
alright and listen...

                       JAKE
No you listen, "little brother."
When you got locked up, it crushed
mom and dad. Crushed them. Do you
ever think of anyone but yourself?
We had to lie to Lisa about where
you were Donny. Your kid sister
            (MORE)

59.

                       JAKE (cont'd)
thinks you're some sort of war
hero. Lets just hope she doesn't
ask to see any of your medals,
huh.

                       DONNY
You through? Now, before you go
off on another wild tangent let me
tell you this. Yes, I know how mom
and dad felt, yes I feel like shit
for it. And yes I feel like less
than shit for having to lie to
Leese. Believe it or not I even
feel sorry for the embarrassment I
must have caused you. This is it
for me Jake, one last score.

                       JAKE
I've heard it before Donny,
there's always one last score
after the last score.

                       DONNY
After this I'm out of it for good,
but this is staring me in the face
and I'm gonna take it. I came to
you because you're my brother
Jake, and you can help me.
So....help me.

                       JAKE
Not that I'm even considering
this. But I assume you've already
discussed this with those
boneheads you call friends?

                       DONNY
Of course, they're all a go. I've
told them we needed one more guy,
an expert.
      (points at Jake)
You.

                       JAKE
Oh I'm flattered.

                       DONNY
You should be, I don't throw out
the word expert often. The payday
on this one is once in a lifetime
Jake, we're talking a cut of seven
zero's a piece.

60.

                       JAKE
Like I said, I'm not even remotely
considering this. But humor me,
what kinda plan do you have?

                       DONNY
Well, it's like this......

INT. WAREHOUSE - DAY

Donny & Jake enter the warehouse as Kip, Jason, Mikey, and
Sal are playing a game of cards. Everyone at the table gives
puzzled looks as to why Jake is with Donny.

                       DONNY
Gentlemen, I'd like to introduce
you to the newest member of the
team.

                       SAL
Very funny, Don. Whats goin on
Jake?

                       MIKEY
You sure it was a good idea
bringing him here Don?

                       DONNY
Guys I said we needed a sixth,
Jake is gonna be working with us.

                       JASON
Are you serious? Jake no offense
or anything but have you ever
stole anything in your life?

                       JAKE
Don't worry about me, I'll be just
fine. And as far as I know, my job
won't be stealing anything.

                       MIKEY
So whats this expertise we're
gonna get to see include?

                       JAKE
Ask Donny, I still don't know too
much about all this.

Jake takes a seat in between Sal & Dontay.

61.

                       DONNY
Jake's gonna be handling the
cameras. It gets serious at this
point boys.

                       SAL
Mr. Clean is finally getting his
hands dirty, how about that.

                       DONNY
Alright fellas listen up. We know
where our mark is, we know what
our goal is. Now we get to work on
how this is going down. Jason, any
luck from our inside source?

                       JASON
Oh we're in business. She made it
easy on me I got to admit. Once
the booze started flowing she told
all and then some.

                       DONNY
Excellent, whatcha got?

                       JASON
Okay, the owner's name is Turk or
something...
      (grabs a notepad)
Paul Turk. yadda, yadda, okay
where's the important stuff. Here
we go, there is a vault in the
bottom of the club. She brings him
tea and cigar's every night on a
elevator from the main floor to
the lower level. She's never
actually seen whats in the vault,
but she did say only Turk himself
knows the access code to it.
Security on a average night is
anywhere from ten to fifteen. Turk
is usually below the club most of
the night, letting his bodyguards
handle most of the operations up
top. Oh, she did say this week
he's seemed more edgy than normal.
She overheard him talking about
some important shipment coming in.

                       KIP
Important shipment aka millions of
dollars.

62.

                       DONNY
Could be. Anything else J?

                       JASON
She's a nympho.

                       MIKEY
You gotta gimme that broads number
Jason.

                       JAKE
Donny, are you absolutely positive
about this? I mean what if the
clown who told you all this was
full of shit?

                       DONNY
I thought about that, but
everything is checking out. He's
got something in that vault
beneath the club. Whatever it is
has our name on it.

                       SAL
I like the sound of that.

                       DONNY
We're gonna need some steel for
this one.

                       MIKEY
Got it covered Don. Eight semi
autos, two pumps, and vests to go
around.

                       JASON
I'll pass on the vest, I'm
impermeable to bulletts.

                       KIP
How are you gonna explain that
much lost inventory?

                       SAL
Its all taken care of. We'll just
bust a back window, mess up the
place a little bit. Say it was a
robbery, ironically enough. Pop's
been looking to replace the back
windows anyhow.

63.

                       DONNY
The guns are for intimidation only
guys. We can't go in there
blasting away like Josey Wale's.

                       JASON
      (to Sal & Mikey)
You know he means you two
especially.

                       SAL
Are you kidding, Mikey hasn't shot
a gun his whole life.

                       MIKEY
Thats not true, remember the time
Pop took us hunting in Sacramento?
What do you call that?

                       SAL
Dipshit, that was a beebee gun.

                       MIKEY
Keyword, "gun".

Everyone shares a small laugh.

                       DONNY
Something else, absolutely under
no circumstances do we use names
when we go in.

                       JAKE
Just thinking out loud here but
how are we suppose to waltz into
this place with shotguns?

                       DONNY
We're not. They'll already be
inside for us.

                       JASON
They will?

                       DONNY
Yeah, Jake's gonna take them
inside for us.

                       JAKE
I will?

64.

                       DONNY
It's simple, you'll have them when
you rewire the security cams. Now
what we need is a vehicle big
enough to carry us and the cash.
Any suggestions?

                       JAKE
We could rent a moving truck. It
won't look suspicious.

                       MIKEY
Atta boy Jakey, this criminal
mastermind shit must run in the
family.

                       JAKE
Yeah kind of like stupidity runs
in yours.

                       MIKEY
What was that!?

Sal stands up in anger.

                       SAL
Yo Don, you better tell Jake to
lighten up a bit.

                       DONNY
Gentlemen, please don't make me
babysit. Let's learn to play nice
shall we?

                       KIP
Go ahead Don.

                       DONNY
Right. Tomorrow it starts guys.
We're goin in.

INT. DONNY'S MUSTANG - NIGHT

Donny drives through downtown San Francisco.

                       DONNY (V.O.)
I was beginning to second guess
this whole deal. Turk could have
the place guarded like a fortress.
The planning on this is has to be
precise without anything being
left to chance. The guys have
never pulled a job like this
            (MORE)

65.

                       DONNY (cont'd)
before, hell neither had I. And
then there's Winters. There is no
way in hell we can move forward
until I get him off my back.

INT. UNMARKED POLICE CRUISER - DAY

Donny pulls out of the garage in his father's car. Detective
Winters along with his partner are staking out the Briggs
home.

                       DET. BARTUZIAK
Here we go Jack. Got some
movement.

                       DET. WINTERS
      (open eyes)
Huh, oh ya right. Forget about it.
Not him, thats the father's car.Forget about it. Not him, thats
the father's car.

The sunlight flashes hard in their eyes. This makes it
difficult for them to positively identify who the driver is.

                       DET. BARTUZIAK
Damn, you're right. You know we
really should get overtime for
this.

                       DET. WINTERS
What are you kidding? We're not
even suppose to be here kid.

                       DET. BARTUZIAK
What do you mean? I thought the
"Lew" gave us the green light for
surveillance?

                       DET. WINTERS
Well not exactly. I told him we
were tailing a known fugitive
believed to be planning something
big. I left out the part we have
no hard leads on it.

                       DET. BARTUZIAK
If we have no leads then why again
are we tailing this guy?

66.

                       DET. WINTERS
Because I know this kid. He's up
to something, I know it. He may
preach that rehab crap but I know
better.

                       DET. BARTUZIAK
You busted him before right?

                       DET. WINTERS
Sure did.

                       DET. BARTUZIAK
Yeah I heard about it in the
academy. Car ring wasn't it?

                       DET. WINTERS
Yeah, this character ran quite an
impressive car ring. I got a tip
from a stoolie that owed me a
favor, and so on. Lead me right to
him.
      (stares at the
       carage)
Hey, here we go. What kinda car is
that?

                       DET. BARTUZIAK
Looks like the Mustang.

                       DET. WINTERS
Thats him, let's hit it.

They follow Donny's Mustang through the city nearly losing
him several times.

                       DET. WINTERS
You're losing him!

                       DET. BARTUZIAK
Relax I got him. He's right there.

                       DET. WINTERS
Please don't lose this guy Luke.
This could be the bust that gets
me famous.
      (glances at
       Bartuziak)
I mean us famous.

They follow the Mustang into a parking garage and are lead
all the way to the top level.

67.

                       DET. WINTERS
Where the hell is this kid going?

They park a few rows from the parked Mustang awaiting
Donny's exit from the car.

                       DET. BARTUZIAK
      (skeptically)
That him?

                       DET. WINTERS
      (realizing the
       driver is Donny's
       father)
What the fu..he just sent us on a
wild goose chase.

Winter's & Bartuziak both exit the car.

                       DET. BARTUZIAK
What now?

                       DET. WINTERS
      (knuckle-rolling
       the coin)
Don't make any weekend plans, kid.
We're going to full surveillance.
Authorized or not.

                       DET. BARTUZIAK
Pretty slick trick he pulled.

                       DONNY
      (to self)
What are you up to Don?

EXT. CLUB XPLOSION FRONT DRIVE ENTRANCE - DAY

Jake & Donny drive up to the club's front entrance in a D &
D security van. They are wearing company installation
technician uniforms .

                       DONNY
You nervous?

                       JAKE
Little bit, yeah.

                       DONNY
Alright look. I'll do most of the
talking. You just handle the
cameras and I'll do the rest.

68.

Jake is breathing heavily and rapidly.

                       DONNY
Are you having an anxiety attack
or something?

                       JAKE
You remember how I get when I'm
nervous, just give me a minute
would ya?

INT. CLUB XPLOSION-LOWER LEVEL - DAY

Turk, and his top bodyguard HAROLD oversee the unloading of
Victor Salazar's shipment. Turk's bodyguards are unloading
large cases off of a truck.

                       MR. TURK
Harold if you could be so kind as
to have this sped up a bit. Having
to explain this to the authorities
isn't something I've put much
thought into as of late.

                       HAROLD
      (to bodyguards)
Men, this wasn't supposed to take
all day. Double time it!

VICTOR SALAZAR'S COURIER approaches Turk.

                       SALAZAR COURIER
      (Spanish accent)
Senor Turk, Senor Salazar would
like to extend his gratitude on
your handling of this on such
short notice. He wishes you would
join him in Columbia next month
for his birthday celebration. Si'?

                       MR. TURK
Of course. Tell Senor Salazar his
warm invitation is most gracious
and is humblely accepted.

They exchange handshakes and the courier exits in the drop
off truck.

INT. CLUB XPLOSION - DAY

Donny & Jake are stopped at the front entrance by a DOORMAN.

69.

                       XPLOSION DOORMAN
Excuse me, is there something we
can do for you boys?

                       DONNY
      (fake southern
       accent)
Yeah bub, we're here to do a
system upgrade on your sec cam's.
      (hands over a fake
       work order slip)
Damn things have got more bugs
in'em than a five dollar whore.

Harold scans the work order.

                       XPLOSION DOORMAN
I don't know what this shit means.
Hold on a second. I have to
confirm this.
      (to Harold on
       radio)
Sir, there are two guys here
saying they have to upgrade the
security cameras.

                       HAROLD (from radio)
Our system is fine, an upgrade on
what?

                       DONNY
Hey pal, it may be fine now but
unless you want it crashing on
your busiest nights we gotta
upgrade those son's-a-bitches.

                       XPLOSION DOORMAN (on radio)
They claim the system has bugs and
is due to crash unless they
upgrade it today sir.

                       HAROLD (from radio)
Then we had best let them upgrade
it then shouldn't we? Have Rico
escort them to the control room.

                       XPLOSION DOORMAN (on radio)
Got it.
      (to bartender)
Get Rico up here.
      (to Jake & Donny)
Whats in the bags? I have to
check'em.

70.

                       DONNY
Oh nothing too exciting, couple of
AK's, semi-automatics, pipe bombs.

The doorman opens the bags to reveal tools and camera
equipment. Rico appears next to the bodyguard.

                       RICO
      (to doorman)
What is it?

                       XPLOSION DOORMAN
Harold wants you to see these guys
to the control room. They're
repairing the cameras.

                       RICO
What the hell? Ain't nothing wrong
with the cameras.

                       XPLOSION DOORMAN
Well these two say there is, and
Harold wants you to personally
escort them to each one.

                       RICO
Something wrong with your legs,
that the reason you couldn't walk
them to the control room?

                       XPLOSION DOORMAN
Look don't be an asshole. Harold
said for you to personally see
these guys around so I told you.
You gotta problem with it. Take it
up with him alright!

                       RICO
Eat me, don't forget whose your
boss around here alright?
      (to Jake & Donny)
Come on you two.

They follow Rico to the security control room.

INT. CLUB XPLOSION-SECURITY CONTROL ROOM - DAY

The room overlooks the entire main floor of the club and
houses a monitor for each security camera throughout the
facility.

71.

                       DONNY
Whoo-weee! You guys the C.I.A or
somethin?

                       RICO
Well this is it, so do what you
do.

Jake kneels down in front of the monitor console and begins
to unpack electronic gadgets from his bag.

                       DONNY
Man I tell ya, I'd love to come to
a place like this everyday for
work. Saw that lil number behind
the bar. You get to see that
everyday here, eh chief? You lucky
dog you.

Rico becomes increasingly annoyed by Donny rambling on. He
switches his attention from Jake back to his wristwatch.

                       DONNY
Say, I got it. How about you give
me and my buddy here a couple of
those "very important persons
cards" we see in the movies. I
could bring a couple of lookers in
here with me. Liven this place
right up I bet'cha!

                       RICO
      (scours over Donny
       with his eyes)
You gotta be kidding, right?
      (to Jake)
Hey pal, how much longer is this
gonna take? I got money on the
Giant's, Dodgers' game!

                       JAKE
I just have to do a reboot here
from the main console. Then we
have to check each cam to make
sure they're configured.

                       DONNY
For Pete's sake boy why don't you
go watch your game! We'll be
alright here by ourselves. We
promise not to touch nothin.

72.

                       RICO
That's not a bad idea Billy-Bob.
You two stay put, do not leave
this room until I come back!
Understand?

                       DONNY
      (saluting Rico)
Clear as Technicolor chief!

Rico exits the control room.

                       DONNY
Fuckin jerkoff.
      (to Jake)
How we coming Jake?

                       JAKE
I'm pretty much done here. Jesus
Christ I'm about to shit my pants.
These guys scare the shit out of
me.

                       DONNY
Hang in there, you're doin great.
Okay, I'm gonna plant the
hardware.

                       JAKE
Be careful Donny.

Donny opens the door slightly and peers out. He then exits
the control room and enters the men's restroom.

INT. CLUB XPLOSION - MEN'S RESTROOM - DAY

Donny opens each stall door checking to see if the room is
empty.

He locates the security camera and props himself on a urinal
for elevation. He pushes up the ceiling panel, then hops
down.

He opens up the bag and removes several pieces of security
equipment to reveal a hidden cache of weapons.

Donny takes out several handguns and elevates himself up
again to hide the weapons.

73.

INT. CLUB XPLOSION - SECURITY CONTROL ROOM - DAY

Jake is finishing up the re-wiring of the control panel when
Rico enters the room.

                       RICO
Hey, where's the other guy, the
motormouth?

                       JAKE
Said he had to take a leak. He
should be back here any minute.

                       RICO
Goddamn it! You! Stay here!

Rico storms out of the control room.

                       JAKE
      (sighs)
Shit, Donny.

INT. CLUB XPLOSION - MEN'S RESTROOM - DAY

CLUB CORRIDOR

Donny is hoisting a shotgun into the ceiling. Rico is
walking down the corridor to the men's restroom. Just as he
pushes through the door Donny refocuses his attention on the
security camera next to his hidden cache of weapons.

                       RICO
Hey shit kicker, didn't you
understand me when I said don't
leave that room without me!

                       DONNY
What's the problem chief? I just
came in here to take a whiz.
Figured I might as well knock out
two birds with one stone ya know?

                       RICO
No I don't know. My boss doesn't
like anyone walking around
unattended. It could mean my ass,
and if that's the case, its your
ass! You got that. Chief!

74.

                       DONNY
Yeah I understand dickhead bosses
alright. Didn't mean to get your
panties all in a bunch friend.

                       RICO
Look, just forget about it. You
all done in here or what?

                       DONNY
Done as Sunday dinner.

                       RICO
Good, let's go get your friend so
you guys can finish up.

Rico turns and exits the room. Donny partially exits then
looks up at the area where he stored the weapons, then
follows Rico.

INT. WAREHOUSE - NIGHT

MONTAGE

1. Kip changes the license plate on the rental truck.
2. Mikey & Jason spray paint the rental truck a different
color.
3. Donny points to a blueprint layout of the club.

End of montage.

                       DONNY
Once you pull the switch, how long
will we have Jake?

                       JAKE
Thirty minutes is the safest
window. I turn the camera's off,
you guys go, then I flip them back
on after thirty. In my opinion
anything longer than that could
bring added security to the lower
level.

                       KIP
That's cutting it kinda close
isn't it?

                       JAKE
I don't know, how long does it
generally take to rob a nightclub?

75.

                       DONNY
Half an hour is plenty of time. It
doesn't leave any time for screw
ups but it will force us to get in
and out clean.

                       MIKEY
We'll just have to bust our asses
is all.

                       KIP
There is still something I don't
understand about the money.

                       DONNY
Whats that?

                       KIP
If the money is clean as a whistle
and fake receipts are kept for it.
Whats to stop him from say,
calling the cops when we're out of
there?

                       SAL
Yeah, I've been meaning to ask
that one myself Don.

                       DONNY
The money is clean, and yeah he
can account for all of it. But you
have to remember this guy is
involved with more shady deals
than a car salesman. He doesn't
want the police snooping around
asking questions anymore than we
do. I'm not worried about the
police.

                       JASON
Is there anything you are worried
about?

                       DONNY
No, nothing. Now boy's I suggest
you start thinking about what
relative you're gonna tell the
bank teller died. We're all gonna
be making large deposits in a few
days.

76.

                       MIKEY
      (to Sal)
Hey, don't we have a rich uncle or
somethin?

                       SAL
He died before we were born.

                       MIKEY
Even better.

                       JASON
I can't believe we're gonna be
millionaires!

                       KIP
Millionaire. I sure do like the
sound of that.

                       JAKE
I'm beat. Anything else we have to
go over?

                       DONNY
No, we've been through it enough.
Tomorrow it's on.

INT. LAINEY'S APARTMENT - NIGHT

Donny is sitting on the sofa in Lainey's living room
watching t.v.

He lifts his right pant leg up at the ankle to reveal a
concealed blade and unhooks the holster and sets it on the
coffee table.

He flips through channels until he stops at a local news
reporter commenting on two murders. FROM TELEVISION: "The
male suspect has been identified as 38 year old Sylvester
Reed along with his wife 34 year old Cherie Reed. Police
have yet to identify a motive for the vicious slayings but
do not rule out a retaliation from a business deal gone
bad."

Donny shuts off the t.v. and slouches back into the sofa. He
then turns off the lamp.

INT. COFFEE SHOP - NIGHT

*This is the beginning of the opening scene.*

77.

The Knuckles enter the busy coffee shop and sit in a booth
near the front window.

They each scroll the menu's as an attractive waitress
approaches.

                       COFFEE SHOP WAITRESS # 1
Evening gentlemen. Can I interest
anyone in coffee?

                       MIKEY
Not me, hun.

                       JASON
Sure yeah, I think everyone but
him.

                       COFFEE SHOP WAITRESS # 1
I'll give you all a chance to look
over the menu. Let me know if
there is something else I can get
for you.

The waitress smiles intently at Jason then walks behind the
service counter.

INT. CLUB XPLOSION - NIGHT

LOWER LEVEL

Paul Turk arrives at the club in his limo.

He enters the club and heads toward the elevator. Turk,
Harold and Rico all descend to the lower level of the club.

                       MR. TURK
What was this business about
security cameras?

                       HAROLD
All taken care of sir. Just a
small upgrade to the system is
all.

                       MR. TURK
Has Salazar called to say when his
monkey will be taking this shit
out of my club?

                       HAROLD
No word yet sir.

78.

                       MR. TURK
I want this shit out of here.
Rico, I need a martini.

INT. COFFEE SHOP - NIGHT

*First part of the opening scene.*

The Knuckle's are eating and drinking coffee. Everyone at
the table is silent.

Donny is switching his attention from his cup of coffee, his
wristwatch, and to staring out of the window.

                       MIKEY
Damn, its way too quiet for me.

                       KIP
Everyone is just trying to stay
focused.

                       MIKEY
Focused is one thing, but it feels
like someone's mother just died. I
gotta joke that'll loosen you
tightasses up.

                       JASON
Uh-oh. On that note, I think its
time for that phone call.

Jason stands up from the table and walks to a payphone.

                       MIKEY
Anyways you guys wanna hear the
joke or not?

                       SAL
Just tell the fuckin thing
already!

                       MIKEY
Okay. Whats the difference between
a proctologist and a bartender?
Anybody? Sal you should know this
one.
      (chuckles about
       the answer)
Anybody?................ Sal you
should know this one.

79.

A general hum of "I don't know."

Beat

                       MIKEY
A proctologist only looks at
asshole's one at a time!

EXT. ILLUMINATED STREET - NIGHT

Jake pulls in front of the coffee shop in the rental truck.
The truck has been spray painted again to resemble a beer
delivery vehicle. Jake & Donny make eye contact.

                       DONNY
      (to group)
Alright fellas lets make it
happen. Knuckle up

The Knuckles exit the coffee shop and walk past the rental
truck.

Club Xplosion is across the street and the lights from the
club glisten in the street. Sports cars, luxury sedans, and
limosuines fill the parking lot as the crew make their way
to the front entrance.

The rental truck drives down the street and turns into a
back alley behind the club.

INT. CLUB XPLOSION - NIGHT

The club is filled to capacity with 1980's dance music
blaring from the speakers.

The Knuckles make their way to a booth inside the club. They
order a round of drinks and sit in silence.

INT. RENTAL TRUCK - NIGHT

Jake parks the rental truck behind the club. A small drive
that leads to a dock closed off by locked gate. Jake
impatiently glances at his wristwatch.

80.

                       JAKE
      (to himself)
Donny, if you make it out of this
alive I'm gonna kill you!

INT. CLUB XPLOSION - NIGHT

MEN'S RESTROOM

Donny looks at his watch, then nods his head to Jason and
they both get up and head toward the restroom.

A moment later Sal & Mikey do the same. Kip finishes his
drink then heads toward the restroom as well.

Donny, Jason and Sal are inside bathroom stalls, while Kip
and Mikey are using the urinals.

Donny comes out and a timer on his watch starts to beep.

INT. RENTAL TRUCK - SAME TIME - NIGHT

Jake's watch is also beeping. He punches a code in the
device.

The closed circuit monitors in the control room go
completely black. The bodyguard in the control room has his
back to the monitors while on the telephone.

ELEVATOR

Sal is standing guard at the restroom door. Donny is
distributing the pistols and shotguns from the cache in the
ceiling.

Just as he hops down from the urinal a young man tries to

81.

enter the restroom. Sal intercepts him and quiclky ushers
him out of the restroom.

                       SAL
Hey pal, I wouldn't go in there if
I were you. Goddamn toilets over
flowing like a volcano. Shit
everywhere!

Sal re-enters the restroom.

They each take out a black ski masks from their coat pockets
and slip them on.

Donny peers out of the door and they all slide past patrons
inside the club not paying attention.

The guard at the elevator is distracted by the waitress
getting into the elevator.

Kip presses the barrel of his pistol on the guards head.

                       KIP
Let's go for a ride.

                       XPLOSION SECURITY # 1
      (British accent)
What the fu...

                       DONNY
How many on the lower level?

                       KIP
      (pulls back the
       hammer of his
       pistol)
Well spit it out.

                       XPLOSION SECURITY # 1
Four.

                       DONNY
Weapons?

                       XPLOSION SECURITY # 1
They're each carrying a shooter..

                       DONNY
Good boy. Now just sit tight, and
don't try anything stupid.

The elevator descends to the lower level.

INT. CLUB XPLOSION - SECURITY CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT

The guard in the control room ends his phone call and
observes the monitors being off.

                       XPLOSION BODYGUARD # 2
What the hell?
      (on radio to
       Harold)
Sir, we seem to have a problem
with the security cameras.

                                         CUT TO:

INT. CLUB XPLOSION - LOWER LEVEL - SAME TIME - NIGHT

Two Xplosion bodyguards are stationed by the vault.

Turk is sitting at his desk in the middle of the room.

Harold is beside him as he receives the call on the radio.

                       HAROLD
What do you mean a problem?

XPLOSION BODYGUARD # 2 (on radio)
They seem to be out sir.

                       HAROLD
They seem to be or they are out?
Which is it?

XPLOSION BODYGUARD # 2 (on radio)
They are out sir. I'm getting no
feed in from the cameras.

                       HAROLD
I'm coming up.

                       MR. TURK
What is it Harold?

                       HAROLD
Seems we have a small problem with
the sec cam's sir. I'm going to
check it out.

                       MR. TURK
So much for an upgrade.

83.

                       HAROLD
      (walks toward the
       elevator)
I'm sure its nothing sir.

Harold walks toward the elevator. Upon entering he stops
suddenly as Donny points his pistol toward him and motions
him to back up.

The two bodyguards see this unfold while Turk has himself
buried in paper work. Silently Donny motions the two
bodyguards to come toward him.

Turk still unaware, glances at his side to see the
bodyguards with their arms up. It is now he realizes the
situation.

                       MR. TURK
What the fuck is this!?

                       DONNY
This is you being the victim of a
robbery. Now, stand up. Slowly.

                       JASON
Twenty minutes!

                       DONNY
Okay. My associate here will be
collecting your weapons. Let this
happen without resistance please.

Mikey pats down Harold, Turk & the two bodyguards and
collects their weapons He stuffs two pistols in his belt
then stuffs two in Sal's pant line.

                       MR. TURK
Son, do you have any idea who I am
or what you're doing? I suggest
that you think this through for a
minute, and take your associates
here and leave before you do
something you'll regret.

                       DONNY
I appreciate your concern, but the
only thing I'd regret is leaving
here without whats.........
      (points to vault)
in there.

                       MR. TURK
Look, son...

84.

                       DONNY
I'm not your fucking son. If I was
my knuckles would be dragging the
floor. Now if you would be so kind
as to open that vault up.

                       MR. TURK
And what happens if I refuse? What
then?

                       DONNY
Then we make you swiss cheese,
right here, right now. After that
I doubt you'll care what happens
next. Am I right?

Turk turns and walks to the vault. He enters the access code
and the vault door unlatches. Inside are cases stacked on
top of each other.

                       KIP
      (to Harold)
You. Open the bay door. You have a
key for the gate in back?

                       HAROLD
I do.

                       KIP
Well lets go tough guy.

Harold waits for Turk's command. Turk nods his head in
approval.

Harold opens the bay door. Kip follows Harold outside to
open the gate where Jake is waiting.

Mikey & Sal remain inside with their shotguns aimed at Turk,
Rico and the other two body guards.

Jason stands guard by the elevator. Donny motions Turk
inside the vault.

                       DONNY
Listen, I understand your
position, but don't make me ask
you something twice.

                       MR. TURK
If you take this, it will be too
late. You'll have gone too far.

85.

                       DONNY
You're in no situation to be
dishing out threats. Ever hear the
old saying, "don't bring a knife
to a gunfight?"

                       MR. TURK
Have you ever heard the one "if
you play with fire, you could get
burned?"

The rental truck docks into the bay. Kip ushers Harold back
inside the lower level.

                       JASON
Fifteen minutes!

                       DONNY
You big strong lads, start loading
up the truck. Hustle!

Harold, Rico & the two bodyguards load the cases onto the
truck.

                       DONNY
      (to Turk?)
Aren't you going to help them?

Turk gives Donny a cold glance.

                       JASON
Five minutes, lets hit it!

                       DONNY
Okay gentlemen, into the vault.

                       RICO
You gotta be fucking kidding.
Theres no air in that thing!

                       DONNY
You'll be fine. Someone will come
along eventually. In you go.

                       MR. TURK
Consider this from my position. If
you were me what would you do?

                       DONNY
Commit suicide

86.

                       SAL
      (pumps the action
       on his shotgun)
Get the fuck in!

                       MR. TURK
      (to Donny)
You're burying yourself!

                       SAL
Bye bye, asshole.

Turk, Harold, Rico, & the two bodyguards start to enter the
vault.

The last bodyguard walks into the vault. In a split second
he slides a small handgun from the arm of his jacket and
turns around.

Kip & Mikey have already entered the rental truck, but Jason
and Donny remain by the vault.

                       JASON
Donny, lookout!

Donny instinctively turns and and fires three shots into his
chest.

The bodyguard is blasted back into the vault.

Donny & Jason quickly close the vault door then jump into
the back of the rental van.

Jake peels off from the dock bay into the back alley. He is
driving at a high speed from the adrenaline rush.

INT. WAREHOUSE - NIGHT

Mikey has opened the bay door for the truck to back into.
Kip, Sal, & Jason exit from the rear of the truck. Jake
exits from the drivers side.

                       SAL
Jake, your days of getaway driving
are over!

                       JAKE
Promise?

                       DONNY
Lets get these unloaded and
counted.

87.

The crew begins to unload the cases from the rental truck.

                       MIKEY
      (unloads a case)
Holy Mother & Mary these things
are heavy as shit!

                       KIP
      (unloads a case)
I told you to start working out.

                       JASON
Hey, open one up. I gotta see!

Kip sets a case down then cracks it open. The money is
neatly stacked in hundred & fifty dollar bills. They all
stare marveled at the sight.

                       JASON
      (thumbs a stack of
       bills)
This is the prettiest thing I have
ever seen in my entire life.

                       MIKEY
      (to Don)
How much you think we got?

                       DONNY
Dunno. Let's find out.

They begin to pull out more stacks of bills until a bagged
white substance is exposed at the bottom of the case.

                       JAKE
What the fuck is that?

                       KIP
      (holds up bag of
       the substance)
Sure isn't money.

                       JAKE
Well what the fuck is it?

                       MIKEY
It's cocaine genius.

                       JAKE
What the fuck is cocaine doing
mixed in with our money?

88.

                       DONNY
They must have been storing it for
someone.

                       JASON
What the hell are we gonna do with
this shit?

                       JAKE
I can't believe this. We stole
some drug kingpin's money "and"
drugs! And I wanna know right now,
why were there gunshots!

                       SAL
Your little brother clipped a guy.
Three shots, boom, boom, boom
straight through the heart.

Beat

                       JAKE
This just keeps getting better and
better. So you killed someone?

                       DONNY
Now's not the time. We have to get
this money counted, and the "coke"
is just a new wrinkle we'll deal
with.

Jake walks over to Donny, grabs him by the coat and pushes
him against a wall. Sal, Mikey & Jason stand by watching as
Kip rushes over to break them apart.

                       JAKE
No Donny, now is the time we're
gonna talk about this!

                       DONNY
      (waves Kip back)
Fine Jake. Whats on your mind?

                       JAKE
This isn't how it was supposed to
go Donny. You never mentioned
drugs, and you fucking shooting
some guy, Jesus Christ!

89.

                       DONNY
This shit being cased in with the
money is a just as much as a
surprise to me as it is to
everyone else. We took this from a
guy who does business with drug
dealer's Jake. And the other
thing, yeah I shot the guy. He
went for a gun and I reacted.
Would you rather it have been one
us lying dead back there?

                       JASON
He had no choice Jake, he did the
right thing.

                       JAKE
      (eases grip on
       Donny)
I need to get out of here, I just
need to go home.

                       DONNY
Thats a good idea Jake, go home
get some rest. We'll count the
money and I'll give you a call
tomorrow alright.

                       JAKE
Fine, I'm outta here.

Donny walks Jake to the door and watches him leave.. The
crew continues to count the money and sort the cocaine. Kip
walks and stands close to Donny.

                       KIP
He's really freakin' out.

                       DONNY
      (sighs)
Yeah. How are you holding up?

                       KIP
Hey I'm great. I can get use to
this smash and grab stuff.

They walk back toward the crew.

                       DONNY
      (puts Dontay in a
       playful headlock)
Listen to you! Hey guys, everyone
did great in there. We followed

the plan, and no one was hurt.

                       SAL
      (to Donny)
It was your plan, cabella. And a
damn good one too!

                       MIKEY
      (counting last
       case of money)
Nineteen-eight,
nineteen-nine,..................I
don't fuckin believe this!

                       JASON
What is it?

                       MIKEY
Twenty million dollars. We got
twenty fuckin million dollars!

                       SAL
Nah uh, you sure its twenty mil?

                       MIKEY
You kiddin me. Counting is one
thing I know how to do. I'm sure
of it.

                       KIP
Not bad for an ex-con and a bunch
of newbies, eh Don? Don? Where the
hell did he go?

Donny enters the warehouse holding a bottle of Lainey's
champagne.

                       DONNY
Congratulations Knuckles! In one
night you became professional
thieves and nabbed the score of a
lifetime! Salude!

Donny takes a long drink from the bottle, then passes it
around the group. They each take long drinks as well.

                       JASON
I don't mean to be a drag and all
but we took twenty million from
this guy, And we killed one of his
men.

91.

                       SAL
Whats your point?

                       JASON
My point is, whats to stop him
from calling the cops. If they
they aren't crawling all over that
place already?

                       DONNY
Somehow I doubt the cops are there
or ever will be.

                       JASON
What makes you so sure?

                       DONNY
The lower level is soundproof
remember. And even if he wanted to
involve the police, whats he gonna
put on the report. Some guys stole
my dirty money and fifty kilo's of
cocaine.

                       JASON
Good point, I guess you're right.

                       DONNY
If there's one thing I know, its
the criminal mind. Now lets get
this stuff sorted and get outta
here.

                       KIP
What about the "coke"?

                       DONNY
We'll keep it with the cash for
now, never know what might come
up.

INT. CLUB XPLOSION - LOWER LEVEL - NIGHT

In the wake of the robbery Turk, Harold, Rico and other club
bodyguards have gathered in the club's lower level. Turk's
bodyguards feel his wrath as a result of the incident.

                       MR. TURK
      (stares into vault)
Someone please remove this corpse
from my vault. Why are there so
many of you incompetent fucks just
standing around doing absolutely

                       MR. TURK (cont'd)

                       XPLOSION SECURITY # 1
Mr. Turk, the cameras. Somehow
they must have shut off the
surveillance cameras. I just don't
know how?

                       MR. TURK
Of course you don't, you're a
fucking idiot. Now get out of my
sight, you're making me nauseous.

                       HAROLD
      (to bodyguard # 1)
Go back up top and bring a car
around.

                       MR. TURK
Harold, I trust you understand
what needs to be done. The money
we've lost is second priority to
finding Salazar's shipment.

                       HAROLD
We will find who did this sir.

                       MR. TURK
First I want you to call that
worthless security company and
find out why this fifty-thousand
dollar surveillance system doesn't
work!

INT. LAINEY'S APARTMENT - BEDROOM - NIGHT

Donny is wrapped in a body towel still wet from a shower. He
wipes the mist from bathroom mirror and stares at his
reflection for a moment.

                       DONNY
      (to himself;
       quietly)
You did it. You're out, last one.

Lainey appears in the bathroom doorway wearing a sexy
nightgown.

                       LAINEY
Are you talking to yourself in
here?

93.

                       DONNY
Yeah I guess I am.

They embrace and kiss passionately.

                       LAINEY
I missed you tonight, where were
you?

                       DONNY
Out causing trouble with the guys.

                       LAINEY
Oh great. I should probably get
use to not waiting up again,
right?

                       DONNY
No need. There won't be anymore
nights like this one.

                       LAINEY
And give me one good reason why I
should believe that.

                       DONNY
How about twenty million.

Lainey stares into Donny eyes for a moment. They kiss
passionately again.

Lainey breaks free of Donny's embrace then back pedals
slowly into the bedroom. She then begins to slowly untie the
front of her nightgown.

                       LAINEY
Come to bed.

Donny turns back to face the mirror and his reflection. A
wide smile comes across his face as he flips the light
switch off.

INT. D & D SECURITY & SURVEILLANCE - DAY

                       RICO
Are you sure you have nothing on
file? Two of your guys were at the
club a few days ago.

                       D&D RECEPTIONIST
I'm sorry sir. We keep every
service call in our database.

without this upgrade. Our system
did shut down recently.

                       D&D RECEPTIONIST
I've checked sir. Your system was
and still is not in need of an
upgrade. Are you sure the
technicians were from this
company?

                       RICO
Yeah doll, I'm sure. My boss isn't
very happy with your company's
screwups.

                       D&D RECEPTIONIST
I'm very sorry sir. I can give you
Mr. Briggs business card and you
can get in touch with him at your
convenience. He is head of our
installation department.

                       RICO
Fine. Sure.

Rico takes the business card from the receptionist.

He attempts to stuff the card inside his suit coat pocket
but the card falls to the floor.

Rico bends down to pick up the card as Jake walks past him
to the front desk.

                       JAKE
Morning Mel.

                       D&D RECEPTIONIST
Good morning Mr. Briggs. My
goodness sir, you look like you
didn't get much sleep last night.

                       JAKE
Yeah, long night.

Jake walks into a nearby coffee room.

Rico having just missed seeing Jake turns back to walk
toward the front desk.

95.

                       RICO
Hey hot stuff, you gotta bathroom
in this joint?

Jake walks out of the coffee room with his attention focused
directly at the receptionist. Rico instantly remembers
Jake's face. This triggers Rico memory from Jake disguised
as a service technician.

                       D&D RECEPTIONIST
Sir,..Sir?

Rico focuses back on receptionist.

                       D&D RECEPTIONIST
The restrooms are to your left,
down and turn right.

                       RICO
Huh? Oh yeah right, thanks baby.

Rico heads toward the restroom.

                       D&D RECEPTIONIST
      (to
       herself;whisper)
Asshole.

Rico stops; watches Jake walk back to his office. He then
turns back and exits D&D.

INT. POLICE STATION - DETECTIVE'S DIVISION - DAY

Det. Bartuziak walks toward Det. Winters desk.

                       DET. BARTUZIAK
We got something.
      (hands him a slip
       of paper)
On Briggs.

                       DET. WINTERS
What do we have here?
      (scans the slip of
       paper)
A rental truck receipt is
something?

                       DET. BARTUZIAK
Check out the name of the rentee.
Look familiar?

96.

                       DET. WINTERS
Uh-huh. And?

                       DET. BARTUZIAK
Uh-huh, so how come dispatch has
gotten in reports of a rental
truck being parked at an abandoned
warehouse the last few days?

                       DET. WINTERS
You got an address for this
warehouse?

                       DET. BARTUZIAK
Somewhere in this pile.
      (thumbs through a
       stack of papers)
Here we go, five eighty three
Bennett Drive. We going for a
drive?

                       DET. WINTERS
We're going for a drive.

EXT. WAREHOUSE - DAY

Winters & Bartuziak peer through a window of the warehouse
the "Knuckles" used as their base of operations. The
warehouse is empty with no signs of activity.

                       DET. WINTERS
Can you see anything?

                       DET. BARTUZIAK
Nothing. A few rats scurrying
around, thats about it.

                       DET. WINTERS
You sure this is the right place?

                       DET. BARTUZIAK
It's the address reported through
dispatch. I don't get it. You said
this guy boosts cars right. But
this shit hole could hold what,
maybe two cars at most.

                       DET. WINTERS
Maybe it's not cars anymore. He
could be into something entirely
different.

97.

                       DET. BARTUZIAK
Well if he was here, he's covered
his ass.

                       DET. WINTERS
Better have a black & white patrol
here around the clock.

                       DET. BARTUZIAK
What do you think he's planning?

                       DET. WINTERS
On not seeing me.

EXT. GOLF COURSE - 9TH HOLE - DAY

Paul Turk is in motion to swing his putter when his mobile
telephone rings. Turk's bodyguard hands him the telephone.

                       MR. TURK
      (hurls golf club)
Goddamn it!
      (answers phone)
Turk.

                       RICO (from phone)
It's Rico sir, we have great news.

                       MR. TURK (on phone)
Oh? It damn well better be since
you interrupted my short game.

                       RICO (from phone)
According to the company's
database our system was never due
to shutdown. No upgrades were
needed, nothing sir.

                       MR. TURK (on phone)
So what you're telling me is that,
someone managed to infiltrate my
impenetrable club, fool my
security personnel, then hack and
reprogram our state of the art
surveillance system?

                       RICO (from phone)
Yes sir, thats what we believe.

                       MR. TURK (on phone)
No Rico, that's what I know. Now
this is the moment you tell me
you've located who accomplished

these magical feats.

                       RICO (from phone)
Sir, you'll be happy to know we
have. The technicians were frauds.
We've got a lock on one right now
Mr. Turk.

                       MR. TURK (on phone)
Excuse me if I save the
jubilation. Put Harold on.

                       HAROLD (from phone)
Yes sir?

                       MR. TURK (on phone)
I don't want to hear from anyone
but you Harold. That imbecile is
going to force me to have a
coronary. I'm counting on you
Harold. Find out what he knows,
and make it clear that I want back
what they took.

Turk ends the call. He then turns to face the accompanying
bodyguards.

                       MR. TURK
Instead of standing there with
complete mindless looks on your
faces, do something useful.
Get...my...fucking....club!

INT. BLACK SEDAN - DAY

Harold, Rico & two bodyguards sit in a black sedan across
the street from D&D security & surveillance. Rico twists on
a silencer to a pistol.

                       HAROLD
There won't be a need for that.
We're simply delivering a message.
Nothing more.

                       RICO
I'm just making sure it's ready,
you know just in case.

                       HAROLD
As long as you all know. This one
stays alive for now. He'll either
lead us to the others or get the

word to them.

                       RICO
Hey,there he is!

They watch as Jake walks to his car and drives away.

They follow behind keeping a safe distance to remain
unnoticed. Jake pulls into his driveway and enters his home.

They park a few houses down from Jake's home but continue
watching his movements through a window.

                       RICO
That's him alright, he was the
quiet one. The other guy, the loud
mouth, I can't wait to get my
hands on that fuck!

                       HAROLD
You'll have your chance. We'll
wait until dark. Right now I think
Mr. Turk should be brought up to
speed.

The sedan drives off.

INT. JAKE'S HOME - NIGHT

Jake is brushing his teeth in an upstairs bathroom. He heads
downstairs to the kitchen.

He leans into the open refrigerator to scan it's contents.
As he stands up and closes the door one of Turk's bodyguards
strikes him with a vicious blow. Jake retracts awkwardly
into a counter from the blow.

Before he can register who his attacker is he is struck
again by an equally vicious blow from behind. Jake falls
hard to the floor but remains conscious.

He is lifted to his feet by two Turk bodyguards. They have
him subdued by his arms.

Rico stands in front of Jake, close enough for their noses
to almost touch.

                       RICO
You remember me?
      (strikes Jake with
       two hard punches)
No, no sweetheart, stay with me.

                       RICO (cont'd)
We haven't even started to have
fun yet.
      (strikes again
       with a hard punch)
Hurts doesn't it?

                       HAROLD
That's enough for now. We need him
conscious, remember?

Jake is losing his battle with consciousness. Rico mockingly
laughs at Jake in the background. The bodyguard's keep their
hold on Jake, they are cold, emotionless enforcers.

                       HAROLD
I'm going to assume you know who
we are and why we're here. So I'll
get right to the point. You have
something that belongs to the
person I work for. He wants it
back.

                       JAKE
I...I don't know, I...

                       HAROLD
You see that man over there.
      (points to Rico)
He's a very violent man and he
doesn't seem to like you very
much. If you waste our time here
I'm going to request he start
cutting off your various limbs.
Now, are you ready to disclose
something useful?

Jake glances at Rico then back to Harold.

                       JAKE
We, we........have it, we
have..... everything.

EXT. JAKE'S HOME - DAY

Donny is at Jake's front door.

He rings the doorbell; no answer. He waits a moment then
rings it a few more times with no reply.

Donny then walks around to the back of the house and spots
Jake's car in the driveway. As he attempts to ring the

101.

backdoor doorbell he notices the door is slightly ajar. The
hinges nearly ripped off.

Donny kneels down and unsheathes a throwing blade from an
ankle holster.

After pushing the door open and entering, a trail of blood
is the first thing to catch his eye.

He slowly walks into the front room to see Jake sprawled out
on the floor. Donny sprints over to bend down beside Jake.

                       DONNY
Jesus, Jake!

INT. HOSPITAL - WAITING ROOM - DAY

Donny, Mr. Briggs, Mrs. Briggs, & Lisa are at the hospital
in the waiting room. They sit in silence with worried looks
across their faces.

Donny walks down the hallway to a vending machine. Heading
back toward his family Donny stops after spotting Det.
Winters talking to his parents.

Winters & Donny exchange glances and Winters walks toward
Donny.

                       DET. WINTERS
Got a minute?

                       DONNY
      (takes a drink of
       soda)
I'm really not in the mood
detective.

                       DET. WINTERS
Look, I'm sorry about your
brother. I spoke to your parents
and they mentioned the doctor's
are optimistic.

                       DONNY
Winters why are you here? Huh? I
told you I'm in no mood to get
sweated by you right now.

102.

                       DET. WINTERS
I understand you're upset. That's
not why I'm here. The patrolman
tells me it was a botched break
in.

                       DONNY
Yep, thats what they say.

                       DET. WINTERS
Well what do you think?

                       DONNY
They said it was a break in, so
thats what it was, right?

                       DET. WINTERS
Guess so. You know its funny,
there were no signs of anything
being taken. Nothing out of place
in your brother's house.

                       DONNY
What's that add up to? I haven't
been keeping up on my cop lingo
lately.

                       DET. WINTERS
I'm glad you've kept a sense of
humor despite all of this. But to
me this looks professional.
Someone possibly trying to deliver
a message.

                       DONNY
Way off Winters. My brother isn't
involved with people who deliver
messages by sending you to the
I.C.U.

                       DET. WINTERS
      (hands Donny a
       slip of paper)
Maybe they delivered it to the
wrong brother.

Winters walks away. Donny looks at the slip of paper. It is
a copy of his rental truck receipt.

INT. HOSPITAL - JAKE'S ROOM - DAY

Donny is looking out of a window in Jake's room.

Lisa is reclined in a chair with her eyes closed listening
to a portable walk man.

Mrs. Briggs is seated beside Jake's bed holding Jake's hand
as

Mr. Briggs is standing up next to her resting his hand on
her shoulder.

Jake slowly opens his eyes and begins to speak softly.

                       JAKE
      (whisper)
Ugh, my head.

                       MRS. BRIGGS
Jake honey, lie still.

                       MR. BRIGGS
I'll get the doctor.

Mr. Briggs exits the room.

                       DONNY
Sleeping beauty, good to have you
back with us.

Lisa opens her eyes to see the scene unfolding. She throws
back her earphones in a hurry and rushes to Jake's side.

                       LISA
How do you feel Jakey?

                       JAKE
Jeesh, kinda like I got
steamrolled by the entire Rams
defensive line.

                       DONNY
Yeah it kinda looks like it too.

                       JAKE
      (laughs)
Ouch, ouch. Don't make me laugh.

Mr. Briggs returns with a doctor.

104.

                       MR. BRIGGS
      (to Mrs. Briggs)
Honey, the doctor needs to run
some tests on Jake.
      (to Jake)
Son we'll be right outside ok.

                       MRS. BRIGGS
You gave your mother quite a scare
young man.
      (kisses Jake's
       forehead)
See you in a bit.

The Briggs family exits the room. The doctor walks closer to
Jake's bed.

INT. TURK MANSION - STUDY - DAY

Turk's mansion is a old style Victorian compound. A large
gate surrounds the estate. Within the compound is a
beautiful landscape layout.

                       MR. TURK
      (lights a cigar)
We don't know who exactly we're
dealing with. If they had the
balls to rob me, they may have the
guts to oppose me as well.

                       RICO
Don't worry sir, we really worked
this guy over.
      (holds up a black
       club)
After a few smacks with this we
started to hear his ribs cracking.
He knows we aren't fuckin around.

                       MR. TURK
Thank you so much for that
colorful insight Rico.
      (to Harold)
Has Salazar called?

                       HAROLD
Yes sir. His courier will be at
the club tomorrow night.

                       MR. TURK
      (slams fists down
       on the desk)
Fuck! Do you understand what is

                       MR. TURK (cont'd)
going to happen if we don't have
that shipment. Please tell me you
at least got other names from this
man?

                       HAROLD
Sir, we were unsuccessful in
acquiring names. We nearly killed
him, but he wouldn't give up the
other's in the robbery.

                       MR. TURK
I'm surprised Harold, others have
fell victim to you for much less
than this.

INT. HOSPITAL - JAKE'S ROOM - NIGHT

                       MR. BRIGGS
Okay son, I'm gonna take your mom
and Lisa home. We'll be back first
thing tomorrow morning.

                       JAKE
You guys I'm fine. You have better
things to do than be here all day.

                       MRS. BRIGGS
Hush up and get your rest.
      (kisses Jake's
       forehead)
We'll be back tomorrow morning.

                       JAKE
What am I gonna do with you two.

                       LISA
Don't worry Jakey, I'll look after
them.

                       JAKE
Oh that's reassuring. Love you
guys.

                       MR. BRIGGS
Don, are you coming with us?

                       DONNY
No, I'm gonna stay here a little
longer dad.

106.

                       MR. BRIGGS
Okay. Take care of each other.

                       LISA
Dad can I drive?

                       MR. BRIGGS
Honey, we don't all need to be
patients here.

Mr. Briggs, Mrs. Briggs, & Lisa exit the room.

                       DONNY
Jake, what the hell happened? Who
did this to you?

                       JAKE
The security guys from the club. I
remember his face. He wants the
money, everything back Donny. Said
this was just a warning and that
next time it would get real
bloody.

                       DONNY
Jesus, Jake I'm so sorry. None of
this was supposed to happen. This
was my worst fear.

                       JAKE
These guys do business with some
bad people Donny. I have a feeling
he'll do whatever it takes to get
that money back. They must have
pinpointed me somehow through the
company so it's just a matter of
time until they figure everything
else out.

                       DONNY
      (walks to the
       window)
I almost got you killed.

                       JAKE
Donny, lets just break clean of
this. He wants the cocaine and his
money back. It's simple,just give
it back.

                       DONNY
Its never simple with criminals
Jake.

107.

                       JAKE
This is bad..... but it can get
worse. Don't do anything crazy.

A nurse enters the room.

                       NURSE
Excuse me gentlemen but visiting
hours are over. You need to get
some rest sir.

                       JAKE
      (to nurse)
Do you think we could have a few
more minutes?

                       DONNY
No she's right, you need some
rest.
      (to nurse)
Take care of him okay.

Donny turns to exit the room.

                       JAKE
Wait, Donny what are you gonna do?

                       DONNY
      (turns back to
       face Jake)
What anyone else would do in this
situation. Call the police.

EXT. PAYPHONE - DAY

Donny is in a payphone booth outside of the hospital.

                       DONNY (on phone)
Kip..it's me. I need you to meet
me at Sal & Mikey's shop.
.......Yeah, its important.
..........Make sure you get Jason
too, ..........everyone has to be
there.

Donny hangs up the phone, then punches in another phone
number.

                       HAROLD (from phone)
Club Xplosion.

108.

                       DONNY
Yeah, lemme speak to Turk.

                       HAROLD
Mr. Turk is busy at the moment.
May I leave a message for him?

                       DONNY (on phone)
Yeah, tell him I have something he
wants back.

EXT. SPINELLI'S GUNS N' AMMO - DAY

                       DONNY
They found Jake.

                       JASON
Wait, what? Who found Jake?

                       DONNY
Turk. Somehow he must have figured
out we rigged the cameras. They
followed Jake home and nearly
killed him. Only reason they left
him alive was to pass word to give
it up.

                       SAL
Jesus Christ. How's he doin?

                       DONNY
He'll live. It's my fault though,
I fucking knew better than to
involve him. Using his company was
stupid.

                       KIP
You can't blame yourself Donny.
Everyone knew the risks. It rains,
you get wet.

                       DONNY
Even still, I can't help but think
what happened to Jake is my fault.
I don't want any of you in the
same situation. The way we can
guarantee that is to give it all
back.

                       JASON
Whoa, Donny. Maybe we can keep
clear of this guy. I mean like you
said, they fingered Jake through
            (MORE)

109.

                       JASON (cont'd)
the cameras, but we have no
connection to that.

                       DONNY
Yeah you're right Jason you have
no connection to that, but I do.
My brother is lying in the
hospital bloodied and broken.

                       JASON
Look man, I'm sorry about Jake and
all, you know that. But are you
saying after what we did to get
it, just hand the shit right back
over?

                       KIP
He's got a point man. We can give
the asshole his coke back, but I
say fuck him when it comes to the
money.

                       SAL
Fuckin a's right.

                       DONNY
So what do you propose we do then
fellas? Run? He's onto my family,
its not an option for me.

                       JASON
You said places that operate as
fronts are willing to take losses
like this. What's with this guy?

                       DONNY
Generally speaking, yeah. But we
made off with more than the money.
My guess is the coke belongs to
people that don't accept losses.

                       MIKEY
So what, you just wanna walk in
there, hand everything over and be
empty handed?

                       DONNY
Not necessarily empty handed,
we're owed a service fee.

110.

                       KIP
      (to Don)
There's that look again. This
means you have a plan?

                       DONNY
Something like that.

INT. STORAGE UNIT - NIGHT

The Knuckles load the stolen cases of money and cocaine into
the rental truck.

                       MIKEY
I say we just kill the son of a
bitch.

                       SAL
Oh, so you're a killer now?

                       MIKEY
If I hafta be.

                       DONNY
Believe me, killing him crossed my
mind. That the last one?
      (slams rental door
       shut)
Lets do it.

EXT. ILLUMINATED STREET - NIGHT

Donny pulls his mustang into the parking lot of Club
Xplosion, parks then walks across the street to use a
payphone in front of the coffee shop.

He punches in the numbers to make a call. The Knuckles
remain in the rental truck while Donny uses the telephone,
awaiting instruction.

                       XPLOSION BARTENDER (from phone)
Club Xplosion.

                       DONNY (on phone)
I'm trying to reach Paul Turk.

                       XPLOSION BARTENDER (from phone)
Hold on one minute, I can connect
you to his office.

The Bartender transfers the call.

111.

                       HAROLD (on phone)
Paul Turk's office.

                       DONNY (on phone)
We're here.

                       HAROLD (from phone)
Come around back, someone will
open the gate. Pull up to the
service bay dock.

Donny hangs up the phone. He then makes another call.

                       POLICE DISPATCHER (from phone)
Emergency dispatch. What's your
emergency?

                       DONNY (on phone)
Yeah hi. I'd like to report a
suspicious vehicle.

INT. CLUB XPLOSION - OFFICE - NIGHT

Turk sits at a desk. He is flanked by two bodyguards as
Harold & a man whose face is not shown sit in chairs on the
other side of the desk.

                       HAROLD
      (to Turk)
Our lost shipments have arrived
sir.

                       MR. TURK
      (consults
       wristwatch)
Good. Cutting it close but this
saves us from shorting Salazar a
courier.
      (to Harold)
See to it everything is ready
below.

Harold exits the office.

                       MR. TURK
      (grabs a syringe
       from his desktop)
Are you ready to have some fun Mr.
Caninak?

It's Caninak! He offers only a sinister smile.

112.

INT. POLICE DEPARTMENT - DETECTIVE'S DIVISION - NIGHT

Winters exits an interrogation room knuckle-rolling his
coin.

He walks to his desk and sits down with smiling.

Bartuziak sits at a desk directly across from Winters.

                       DET. BARTUZIAK
You get it out of him?

                       DET. WINTERS
Check another one off for the good
guys!

                       DET. BARTUZIAK
How'd you do it?

                       DET. WINTERS
Simple. After I told him the max
is fifteen years, he was ready to
give his mother up.

                       DET. BARTUZIAK
You ever feel bad about lying to a
perp Jack?

                       DONNY
Yeah a little.
      (pause)
Wait, no I don't actually.

They both laugh.

A female uniform police officer walks to their desks.

                       FEMALE OFFICER
Hey, you guys have a surveillance
on a Donahue Briggs?

                       DET. BARTUZIAK
Yeah that's us. Why?

                       FEMALE OFFICER
Dispatch got a call regarding a
suspicious looking rental truck
parked outside of Club Xplosion?

                       DET. WINTERS
There a point to all this sweetie?

113.

                       FEMALE OFFICER
A black & white followed up on the
call. They didn't see a rental
truck but according to the caller
the owner is some millionaire who
keeps his money in a vault at the
club.

                       DET. BARTUZIAK
This guy never heard of a bank?

                       DET. WINTERS
      (to officer)
Where does Briggs fit in to all of
this?

                       FEMALE OFFICER
      (reads from a
       sheet of paper)
The officers on the call matched
up a green 1966 Mustang.
Registered to one Donahue Douglas
Briggs.

Winters & Bartuziak simultaneously stare at each other.

INT. CLUB XPLOSION - LOWER LEVEL - NIGHT

The rental truck backs into the bay dock and stops.

Four armed Xplosion bodyguards rush the truck armed with
shotguns & pistols. They order everyone out of the truck.

The crew exits the truck with their arms raised and stand
beside the truck.

One of the bodyguards pat down each member of the crew for
weapons. The bodyguard signals to Rico that they are
unarmed.

                       HAROLD
They're clean sir.

Turk walks closer to the crew still with a cigar in hand. He
looks at each member of the Knuckles before speaking.

                       MR. TURK
Decided to come unarmed? That's
putting an awful lot of faith in
the man you stole twenty million
dollars from.

114.

No member of the crew speaks.

                       MR. TURK
Why so quiet gentlemen? The other
night you were so full of vigor
and spirit.

The crew remains silent.

                       MR. TURK
Well I can see the current mood
doesn't call for socializing. So
lets do business, shall we. We're
is my fucking money and cocaine?

                       DONNY
      (points to the
       back of the truck)
Everything's in the back here.

                       MR. TURK
      (to Donny)
Finally someone speaks up. The
voice does sounds familiar. Would
I be right to assume you were the
brains of the operation.

Donny is silent.

                       MR. TURK
      (sits down)
Once again there was silence. Well
answer something I've been anxious
to know. Where did a two-bit thief
such as yourself get the idea that
my place would be a profitable
mark?

Turk returns to sit down at his desk.

                       DONNY
You should get a kick outta that
actually. A guy I did time with,
Carter Pollux, who I believe is
your cousin. Carter use to tell me
all about you.

                       MR. TURK
And what did my dear cousin Carter
have to say?

115.

                       DONNY
Just how you were a lackey to some
Don back east. The Don sent you
out here to legitimize the family
businesses and you end up
laundering drug money.

                       MR. TURK
      (laughs)
Carter was always quite the
conversationalist.

                       DONNY
Oh yeah he even told me how he
fucked your wife, well how
everyone fucked your wife.

Turk stands up and loses his smile momentarily. He then
forces another smile.

                       MR. TURK
Carter always struggled with
disclosing too much information. A
policeman duped him into a
confession which is how you found
yourself meeting his acquaintance.
My wife did have extra marital
affairs but alas I did forgive
her. She suffered a horrific car
accident about a year ago God rest
her soul. It seems the brake lines
on her car were cut.

                       DONNY
Should we be scared now?

                       MR. TURK
You think that was a clever
threat. Not at all. You all have
nothing to worry about as long as
everything you took from me is in
the back of that truck.

                       SAL
If thats the case why are your
boy's packing twelve gauges.

                       MR. TURK
You can never be too careful these
days. Men in masks could rob you
when you least expect it.

116.

                       MIKEY
Touche'

                       MR. TURK
Harold please escort our guests to
the club while we sort through our
returned property.

                       HAROLD
Yes sir.
      (to the crew)
Please follow me to the elevator
gentlemen.

The crew follow Harold to the elevator.

Caninak appears from a dark corner.

                       MR. TURK
You'll have five healthy specimen
to work on Mr. Caninak.

                       MR. CANINAK
      (smiling)
Oh yes. This should be most fun
Mr. Turk. Most fun indeed.

INT. UNMARKED POLICE CRUISER - NIGHT

                       DET. WINTERS
Call in a black & white to meet us
at the club.

                       DET. BARTUZIAK
One step ahead of you. They're en
route as we speak.

                       DET. WINTERS
I'm impressed. You might make a
good detective after all kid.

                       DET. BARTUZIAK
You think we should call Vice?

                       DET. WINTERS
Shit no! This is our collar. By
this time tomorrow you might be
calling me lieutenant.
      (to himself)
I gotcha Don.

117.

INT. CLUB XPLOSION - NIGHT

The club is filled to capacity.

Young to middle age attractive city goer's fill the dance
floor and bar areas. The staff of club Xplosion is just as
attractive as the clientele.

Rico leads the crew to a booth while two other armed
bodyguard's follow.

                       RICO
Sit down, keep quiet and don't
even think about going anywhere.
If you have to piss do it in your
pants, you want a drink, tough
shit.

                       KIP
      (whisper; to Donny)
You sure this is gonna work man?

                       DONNY
Relax.

                       RICO
Hey! I said keep it quiet. Keep
runnin your goddamn mouth and
      (holds up a black
       club)
I'm gonna fuck you over.

                       DONNY
You the guy that delivered the
message to my brother?

                       RICO
      (smiling)
That pussy was your brother? He
cried and begged like a prag I use
to fuck on my old cell block. It
was pretty funny, we all got a
kick out of it.

                       DONNY
      (sarcastically)
Yeah it takes a lot of balls to
sneak up on a guy alone in his
boxer shorts. Which I'm sure gave
you a hard-on.

118.

                       RICO
      (stands up to move
       against Donny)
What was that asshole!

                       JASON
      (to Rico)
Cool it! Chill out, man.
      (to Donny)
You gotta keep your cool homeboy.

                       KIP
      (to Rico)
What's gonna happen after
everything is counted?

                       RICO
That's up to Mr. Turk.

                       KIP
What if it were up to you?

                       RICO
It's not. So shut the fuck up.

At the front entrance Winters is flashing his badge to the
doorman. Rico can see this from the booth.

                       RICO
You ladies just sit tight. Oh and
if you get the idea of running,
just remember. We found you once,
we'll find you again.

Rico leaves the booth and walks to the front entrance.

                       MIKEY
Fuck this! I say we get up and
split right now!

                       SAL
Hey that don't sound like a bad
fuckin idea.

                       DONNY
Guy's trust me, we run, we're
dead. This is the only way to get
rid of these fucks.

Rico greets Winters & Bartuziak at the front entrance.

                       RICO
What seems to be the problem?

119.

                       DET. WINTERS
And who are you sir?

                       RICO
I'm Rico. The head of club
security.

                       DET. WINTERS
Good, now we're getting somewhere.
Detective Winters
      (points to
       Bartuziak)
Detective Bartuziak. We have
reason to believe a known criminal
is planning to rob this nightclub
tonight.

                       RICO
That's impossible. We have the
best security in the business.

                       DET. WINTERS
Good for you, I'd like to have a
look around if you don't mind.

                       RICO
Can't do it officer. On whose
authority anyway?

                       DET. WINTERS
      (flashes badge)
The tin-man's.

Donny glances at the front entrance to see Winters flashing
his badge to Harold.

                       DONNY
See what'd I tell you. The
cavalry's arrived boys.

                       MIKEY
Holy shit, it's about fuckin time.

                       JASON
Yeah this is the first time I've
been happy to see a cop.

Winters & Bartuziak begin scanning the club for Donny.
Winters spots the crew in the booth and leads the police
entourage over to them.

120.

                       DET. WINTERS
Well, well. Assembled a team for
this one huh, Don? You surprised
to see me?

                       DONNY
Why would I be?

                       DET. WINTERS
Why would you be? Well let's see.
You got me off your tail by
switching cars with your old man,
nice job by the way. We know you
rented a large truck and it's been
parked at a warehouse.
      (leans in closer)
I know about the vault Don.
      (to Rico)
I'd like to see the vault. You
think the owner would object to
that?

                       RICO
He's very busy right now,
detective.

                       DET. WINTERS
Oh I see, I'll just have to call
more of my friends in uniforms and
have them hover outside your club.
Security precautions and all.

INT. CLUB XPLOSION - LOWER LEVEL - NIGHT

Turk's bodyguards are busy unloading the cases from the
rental truck.

Turk & Harold stand over-seeing the process.

                       RICO (from radio)
Sir, we have a couple of
detective's here on the main
level. They're demanding to speak
with Mr. Turk about a possible
robbery.

                       HAROLD (on radio)
Well tell them to fuck off.

                       RICO (from radio)
Sir, I've already tried to get rid
of them! They won't leave until
they speak to Mr. Turk and see the

vault.

                       HAROLD
Jesus Christ, stall them.
      (to Turk)
Sir, we have to get the rest of
this into the vault. Apparently
policemen are upstairs demanding
to see the vault and speak to you
about the robbery.

                       MR. TURK
Why are there policemen in my
club, how do they know about a
robbery, and HOW THE FUCK DO THEY
KNOW ABOUT MY VAULT! If I find out
one of you fucks is running your
mouths, I swear to god!

INT. CLUB XPLOSION - NIGHT

                       RICO (on radio)
Yes sir.
      (to policemen)
If you'd follow me to the elevator
gentlemen.

                       DET. WINTERS
      (to Knuckles)
Let's go boy's. You may as well
see what you'll never get your
hands on.
      (to uniformed
       officer)
Wait at the front entrance. This
won't take long.

Rico heads to the elevator followed by the crew and Winters
& Bartuziak.

INT. CLUB XPLOSION - LOWER LEVEL - NIGHT

Everyone steps out of the elevator and heads toward Turk,
Harold, and two of Turk's Bodyguards.

                       MIKEY
      (to Winters)
You haven't even read us our
rights.

122.

                       DET. WINTERS
That's because officially you're
not under arrest, ...yet.

                       RICO
Mr. Turk, this is....

                       DET. WINTERS
Detective Jack Winters, this is
Detective Bartuziak. We're with
the robbery, homicide division.

                       MR. TURK
Well I certainly haven't killed
anyone detective. Not lately
anyway.

Winters & Bartuziak smile. Everyone else is silent.

                       MR. TURK
Excuse my horrible attempt at a
little humor. From what I gathered
you believe my club may fall
victim to a robbery attempt?

                       DET. WINTERS
That's right.
      (points to Donny)
My friend here has a track record
for taking things that don't
belong to him. We've had him under
surveillance for some time now,
and do believe he was planning to
rob your club. Your vault
specifically.

                       MR. TURK
And these other men, I assume
there were acting as accomplices?

                       DET. BARTUZIAK
Initially we thought he may be
acting alone. We just now learned
he had in fact assembled a crew.

                       MR. TURK
Detective I'm really at a loss for
words. We've never experienced
something like this at the club. I
regret not being able to help you
more but I'm actually quite busy.
Rico, my head of security will
assist you in whatever way
possible in your investigation.

123.

                       MR. TURK (cont'd)
      (to Rico)
Rico why don't you escort the
detectives back to the main level.

                       JASON
      (whisper)
This isn't working Don.

                       DET. WINTERS
You know now that you mention it,
I'd love to get a peek inside your
vault.

                       DONNY
      (whisper)
Bingo.

                       MR. TURK
May I ask why?

                       DET. WINTERS
Procedure BS really.

                       MR. TURK
Detective I just don't think it
would be a good idea, opening the
vault in front of these men.
Especially with what they're being
accused of.

                       DET. WINTERS
No threat from them now sir, trust
me. It won't take but a minute,
unless of course there is
something in there you don't want
me to see?

                       MR. TURK
No, of course not.

Turk reluctantly punches in the access code to the vault.

Winters walks in and kneels down in front of a few cases.

He opens one case and a look of awe comes across his face.

                       DET. WINTERS
Whew! This was gonna be your
ultimate boost, right Don? Shame
on me for spoiling all the fun.
      (to Turk)
This looks like Fort Knox in here.

124.

                       DET. WINTERS (cont'd)
Business must be great.

                       MR. TURK
Thank you. Yes, I've done okay for
the son of a Jewish immigrant. I
keep receipts and paperwork for
all of that of course. Banks these
days, I just do not have total
faith in them.

                       DET. WINTERS
      (knuckle-rolling
       his coin)
Can't blame ya. Well that's about
all I needed to see.
      (Winters drops the
       coin)
Oh shit!

The coin drops into the bottom of the case.

                       MR. TURK
Well as I said detective I am
extremely busy, so if there's
nothing else.

Winters is shuffling the stacks of bills around in the case
when he sees the packaged cocaine.

                       DET. WINTERS
      (to Turk; holding
       a bag of cocaine)
You have receipts for this too?

In a split second Harold draws and fires a sawed off shotgun
from inside his sport coat blasting Bartuziak through the
heart.

This sends everyone scattering for cover.

Kip, Jason, Sal & Mikey along with Winters shield themselves
behind the rental truck.

Turk, Harold and two other bodyguards exchange gunfire with
Winters.

Donny has barricaded himself inside the vault.

                       MIKEY
HOLY SHIT! We're gonna die!

125.

                       DET. WINTERS
      (to crew)
Shut up and keep your goddamn
heads down!

Donny reaches for Bartuziak's gun but the exchange of
gunfire is too thick.

Two club security guards exit from the elevator but are
instantly blown away by consecutive shots from Winters.

Turk & Harold sprint toward and successfully enter the
elevator without being hit.

Rico provides cover for them to enter the elevator until he
is struck in the shoulder by a Winters round. He collapses
instantly.

                       KIP
      (to Winters)
Don't you got backup or some shit?

                       DET. WINTERS
They're on the upper level. I
gotta get to a radio or phone
somehow.

                       JASON
Good luck.

                       SAL
Where the hell is Donny? Donny!

Donny remains silent to not give away his position to the
bodyguards.

INT. CLUB XPLOSION - OFFICE - NIGHT

FRONT ENTRANCE

Harold guards the office door as Turk opens a small vault.
From the vault he grabs a pistol, several large stacks of
cash, and a set of keys.

They walk through the club to the outside front entrance.

There they see the two uniform police officers sitting
inside the cruiser.

Harold twists on a silencer to his pistol as they advance
toward the police cruiser.

126.

                       MR. TURK
Excuse me officers, I have a
message from Detective Bartuziak.

The offers direct their attention toward Turk. While Turk
commands their attention Harold's muzzle flash is the last
thing the two officer's ever see.

                       MR. TURK
See you in hell.

INT. CLUB XPLOSION - LOWER LEVEL - NIGHT

Two bodyguards move in stealth like manner to flank both
sides of the rental truck.

Winters nails one bodyguard in the chest sending his pistol
soaring through the air.

Sal catches the pistol in mid-air.

The second bodyguard appears from the other side of the
rental truck without hesitation. Sal unloads three shots
into the bodyguards chest.

Winters turns to see the bodyguard collapse.

                       DET. WINTERS
Damn, good eye. Now give me that
gun.
      (grabs the gun)
All of you stay here until I send
someone down.

Winters heads for the elevator.

Donny joins the crew behind the rental truck. Sal nearly
shoots Donny before recognizing him.

                       SAL
You almost got yourself clipped
bro.

                       DONNY
Easy killer. You guy's alright?

                       SAL
We thought you were dead.

                       DONNY
Thanks for thinking of me. That
piece of shit Turk got away.

127.

                       KIP
Winters just went after him. We're
in the clear now, so I say we blow
this joint.

                       DONNY
Good idea, but I'm going after
Turk. You guy's are better off
waiting here for Winters.

                       KIP
You think he might try to involve
us with this shit?

                       DONNY
Winters is an asshole, but he's
not a blind asshole. Even he saw
what happened here. I'll be back
fellas.

Donny exits through the dock door.

The crew emerge from around the rental truck and Sal is shot
in the arm.

The shot sends him tumbling back behind the truck as Mikey
and Kip crouch back behind it also.

Jason takes cover behind a turned over desk.

EXT. CLUB XPLOSION PARKING LOT - NIGHT

Winters runs through the club and exits through the front
entrance just as Donny races around from the back of the
club to the front entrance.

They both witness Turk & Harold pushing out the dead
uniformed police officers from the police cruiser.

                       DET. WINTERS
      (to Turk &
       Harold;draws
       pistol)
Freeze!

Harold peels the cruiser out of the parking lot and advances
down the street into on coming traffic.

Donny runs to his mustang while Winters sprints to his
unmarked police cruiser.

128.

                       DET. WINTERS
      (pats himself down)
Shit! Luke has the keys!

In the mustang, Donny pulls up next to the unmarked cruiser.

                       DONNY
Get in Winters!

Winters stares at Donny for a short moment then quickly
enters the mustang.

Donny peels out of the parking lot and heads in the same
direction as the police cruiser.

INT. CLUB XPLOSION - LOWER LEVEL - NIGHT

Mikey is dressing Sal's gunshot wound while Kip begins to
fire back in the direction from where the shots come from.

Jason has managed to unholster Bartuziak's pistol under the
exchange of fire.

Kip empties the magazine to the "click-click" sound of a
hammer striking no bullets.

                       RICO (O.S.)
Sounds like someones outta
bullets!

INT. DONNY'S MUSTANG - NIGHT

Donny is driving the car with stunt man precision. Weaving
in and out of traffic to catch up to the police cruiser.

                       DET. WINTERS
You see'em!, you see'em!. There!

                       DONNY
      (swerving the
       steering wheel)
I got'em!

                       DET. WINTERS
Holy shit, this is not what I
envisioned happening when I woke
up this morning.

                       DONNY
Yeah well, maybe you haven't woke
up yet. Maybe it's a dream.

129.

                       DET. WINTERS
Or a nightmare.

INT. POLICE CRUISER - NIGHT

                       MR. TURK
Get me to the boat Harold.
Whatever it takes.

                       HAROLD
Yes sir.

Harold flips the switch for the police sirens and traffic
starts to clear for an easy path.

EXT. DOWNTOWN STREET - NIGHT

The Mustang closes in on the police cruiser going at least
85 m.p.h.

The Mustang crashes into the rear end of the cruiser but
they both continue at high speeds.

The police cruiser knocks the Mustang off course crashing
into a small shack.

The police cruiser speeds off leaving the Mustang to once
again catch up.

INT. CLUB XPLOSION - LOWER LEVEL - NIGHT

Rico is moving to flank the crew pinned behind the rental
truck.

Jason waits for him to go by then jumps out of the vault
with the pistol aimed at Rico.

                       JASON
Drop the gun asshole!

Rico lowers his shotgun then turns around.

                       RICO
You gonna shoot me if I don't?

                       JASON
I'm not gonna say it again.

130.

                       RICO
I got two reasons why you're not
gonna shoot me. First reason is
you've got no nuts. Sec...

Jason pulls the trigger. Again, and again. The gun is on
safety.

                       RICO
Safety. It's on safety.
      (aims the shotgun
       at Jason)
Bye bitch.

Before he can fire Kip grabs the shotgun from behind.

Rico & Kip wrestle for control of the shotgun while Jason
can not get a steady target to fire at.

                       JASON
Kip get outta the,...... fuck!

Jason advances toward the two in hopes of helping Kip but is
struck on the temple by the butt stock of the shotgun.

The force sends Jason spiraling backwards rendering him
unconscious.

As a result of their fighting for control of the shotgun it
is sent flying through the air.

This begins an intense hand to hand battle between Kip &
Rico.

Kip uses a street fighting style while Rico exhibits a more
trained blend of mixed martial arts.

INT. DONNY'S MUSTANG - NIGHT

MARINA

                       DET. WINTERS
All that fancy driving doesn't
mean shit if you lose them!

                       DONNY
God you're an asshole. Where the
hell are your police pals?

131.

                       DET. WINTERS
There's no city patrol this far
out. This is highway patrol's
jurisdiction.

They drive past a marina and Winters spots the streaming
lights of a police cruiser.

                       DET. WINTERS
Don, in there.

Winters nods his head toward the open marina gate entrance

                       DONNY
I saw it.

Donny turns the Mustang around and heads back toward the
marina entrance.

They come to a stop behind the police cruiser.

                       DET. WINTERS
Stay here.

Winters gets out and scans the police cruiser.

As he is walking back to the Mustang shots are fired in
their direction.

Winters sprints toward the mustang and quickly enters.

                       DONNY
Got any bright ideas Winters?

                       DET. WINTERS
Yeah, get us the fuck outta here!

                       DONNY
We just gonna let him get away?

                       DET. WINTERS
'We' are not going to do anything.
'We' are not a we, you're a
civilian and I'm going for back
up.

                       DONNY
He'll be long gone by the time you
come with your back up. He's
probably got a boat waiting to
take off in the harbor.

132.

                       DET. WINTERS
      (looks through the
       window)
You really know this criminal
shit, huh?
      (reaches for his
       spare gun)
Here, take my spare piece.

Donny reaches across Winters into the glove compartment to
pull out a customized 1911 Springfield Colt 45.

                       DONNY
No thanks. For emergencies.

                       DET. WINTERS
Try not to get killed.

They both exit the mustang.

Donny flanks left, Winters goes right, ducking and dodging
bullets as they exchange gun fire with Harold and Turk.

Two errant bullets in Donny's direction pierce the gas tanks
of a luxury speed boat docked in the marina.

INT. CLUB XPLOSION LOWER LEVEL - NIGHT

Rico's specialized fighting skill is too much for Kip. His
brute strength has kept him in the battle but he is starting
to fatigue.

Mikey has finished dressing Sal's wound and manages to flank
around Rico. Mikey grabs the shotgun.

Rico kicks Kip to the ground then stands over him revealing
a large "Rambo" style knife.

                       RICO
Don't be scared. Your friends are
gonna be joining you in hell real
soon.

                       KIP
I don't think so.

Two blasts from the shotgun rip through Rico's chest. He
collapses dead.

                       MIKEY
Kip, you alright?

133.

                       KIP
I am now. What took you so long?

                       MIKEY
      (helps Kip up)
Hey, I was just enjoying the show.
That shit was better than Sugar
Ray versus Hagler.

They begin to help Kip up. Sal walks from behind the rental
truck.

                       SAL
He okay?

                       MIKEY
Yeah. But he's gonna be pissed
when he catches glimpse of his
face.

EXT. MARINA - NIGHT

The exchange of gunfire continues.

Harold is perched on top of an upside down row boat belching
lead from an automatic rifle.

Donny & Winters can only squeeze off shots during Harold's
reloading periods.

Winters flanks Harold enough to nail him with a shot to the
side forcing him to lose balance from the perch and fall to
the ground.

Harold stands up and wildly fires the rifle at any target.

Donny spits three shots from his pistol into Harold, Winters
fires two more shots into him simultaneously.

Harold's chest is stained red from the shots. He collapses
to the ground.

Turk emerges from the shadows and takes aim at Winters.

                       DONNY
Down!

The warning is too late. Winters is struck by two shots in
the chest. He drops hard to the ground.

Turk turns and sprints toward a docked boat.

134.

Donny runs after Turk and takes aim. CLICK, CLICK. His
magazine is empty.

Still in a hard sprint he vaults though the air tackling
Turk before he reaches the boat.

They engage in a ferocious ground fight.

Turk is stronger than his appearance would indicate. Donny
slaps the gun away from Turk before he manages to squeeze
off a shot in his face.

Turk unsheathes a small blade from his inside coat pocket
and slashes Donny on the cheek.

Donny then wrestles the blade away, but Turk has gotten to
his feet.

Donny begins to stand up but is struck by two vicious kicks
to the mid section.

Again, and again Turk kicks wildly. He finishes Donny off
with a ferocious kick to the face, then turns and unravels
the boat lines.

Donny begins to shake the cobwebs out to see Turk starting
the boat engine.

This is his last chance to stop him, Donny grabs the blade
and hurls it end over end striking Turk in the arm.

It stuns Turk but doesn't stop him from pulling the boat out
of the dock and into the water.

A young marina dock worker advances toward Donny with a
cigarette hanging from his mouth.

                       MARINA DOCK WORKER
You alright, dude?

                       DONNY
      (touches his face
       wound)
Huh? Oh yeah. It looks worse than
it feels.

                       MARINA DOCK WORKER
This is some crazy shit! I should
call the cops.

The marina worker turns to walk away while flicking his
cigarette to the ground.

135.

The cigarette lands in the streak of gasoline leaked out
from the bullet holes.

The spark from the cigarette ignites the gasoline into a
flaming fuse following the boat Turk is navigating.

He turns around to see the streak reach the boat. Turk is
silent in death.

The explosion is massive. The boat continues to coast down
the harbor set aflame.

Winters stumbles toward Donny. He looks worn out,
disheveled.

                       DONNY
Jesus, Winters! I thought you were
dead.

                       DET. WINTERS
Sorry to disappoint you.

                       DONNY
Vest?

                       DET. WINTERS
      (reveals the
       bullet proof vest)
Yeah. The department thought our
lives were worth nine hundred
bucks.

                       DONNY
That was nice of'em.

                       DET. WINTERS
      (nods to the
       flaming boat)
Now that's what I call an
"Xplosion."

                       DONNY
Winters, I thought cops only said
one liners in movies?

They turn and walk toward the Mustang. Winters stops and
grabs Donny's arm.

                       DET. WINTERS
You were involved in this. I don't
know exactly how yet, but your
stamp is all over this.

136.

                       DONNY
I almost bit it back there. Trust
me, my plans don't include almost
getting my ass blown away.

                       DET. WINTERS
I suppose you knew nothing about
the vault?

                       DONNY
Not a thing.

                       DET. WINTERS
We got a call about a suspicious
truck being parked outside of the
club. The same truck rented in
your name.

                       DONNY
I called and reported that truck
stolen two days ago. You knocked
out two birds with one stone
Winters.

                       DET. WINTERS
You shoulda been an actor, you're
good Don.

                       DONNY
I don't know what to tell you. My
criminal days are over and done
with. I'm...

                       DET. WINTERS
Rehabilitated,....right.

                       DONNY
Are we leaving or what?

                       DET. WINTERS
One more thing.
      (takes Donny's gun)
I'll take that. You can't be
running around with a gun.

                       DONNY
Good thing I did though, huh?

They walk toward the mustang.

137.

                       DET. WINTERS
      (to the police
       officers)
No, no. Let'em go! They're okay.
They're with me.

The police officers uncuff the crew.

                       DONNY
I leave you guys alone for a
second and you manage to get
arrested?

                       SAL
Where the hell you been, huh? I
damn near got my arm blown off!

                       MIKEY
Will you stop cryin, it's a
fucking flesh wound.

                       SAL
Hey, Mikey? Suck me, alright! Gun
shot wounds to the arm can have
lasting side effects.

                       MIKEY
      (sarcastically)
You learn that in med school?

                       KIP
God you two never quit.
      (to Don)
So, you get him?

                       DONNY
Yeah we got him.

                       JASON

                       DONNY

138.

                       JASON
Whoa, back up. You and Winters?

                       DONNY
Lets get outta here before our
luck runs out. I'll explain
everything in the car.

The crew advance toward the Mustang.

                       DONNY
      (to Sal)
How'd you get shot anyway?

Donny's Mustang roars down the street.

Donny begins to narrate.

                       DONNY (V.O.)
My plan didn't play out exactly
how I expected but we're alive,
we're not in jail and Winters got
his bust. Twenty million would
have been the score of a
lifetime.....
