SPACE MAN (SHORT)

FADE IN:

EXT. SIDEWALK - DAY

Space Man walks down the street past stores and parked cars.
As he walks he looks around, trying to keep cool and
composed, but with curiousity and sometimes fear under the
surface.

Space Man approaches 2 women sitting a sidewalk cafe table.
The women are talking and laughing while they share a plate
of french fries. The women don't notice Space Man
approaching.

Space Man sees the women laughing and sees them sharing the
food, so he thinks perhaps it is ok to have a bite.

Spaceman takes a french fry from the plate and bites into it
with a tentative smile.

The women see him and are visibly shocked, they both move
back in their chairs.

                       DINER #1
      (after a pause)
OK that was totally rude, could
you step away from us please? If
you don't leave I will call the
manager.

                       DINER #2
      (talking very fast)
Tell me that did not just happen,
is he still there? That just
totally freaked me out.

Space Man spits the food out onto the ground and puts his
hands up apologetically as he backs away.

                       DINER #2
      (even louder)
OMIGOD OMIGOD that is totally
disgusting, that's disgusting, i
am going to have to leave, OMIGOD-

                       DINER #1
      (Very angry)
Get out of here! Get away from
us!!

2.

Space Man scurries away quickly down the block. A silvery
somewhat mod Space Band is scurrying behind him, almost like
a parade.

get on. The bus pulls away.

Space Man approaches a "free personality test" who try to
pull him in - the band helps him escape.

Space Man walks by a Paris Hilton type with a small dog. He
softens when he sees the dog and tries to pet it, but the
dog bites him. The Paris girl laughs at him wincing in
pain, as if he is part of her entertainment.

wearing face masks. The three of them embrace.

Space Man steps away and the band surrounds him, pressed
tightly together as if to protect him from every angle.

The group seems to spin around faster and faster until there
is a bright white light.

The white light fades and we see Space Man sitting in a
cave-like, womb-like room, sitting perfectly still as if
meditating.
