Gone From Darkness
by Matt Holmes (bwctwriter@authorskeep.com)

Rated: PG-13   Genre: Drama   User Review: ***1/2
A difficult path lies ahead for two young boys, who awake to find themselves in a strange place, with no memory of who they are, and how they got there. Their only choice is to stick together, look for shelter, and try and discover the past which has mysteriously disappeared from their minds. Soon, their very eventful past comes to light, and they must make a choice: Deny or embrace. Each option has its own benefits, and its own downside as well, but it is a choice they must make regardless. Will they deny their hearts' desire and move on alone, or will they embrace the opportunity they've been given and forge a new future together?

This screenplay contains gay themes and relationships between consenting minors. This is not porn, so don't expect any. Also, I am a novice screenwriter, and this is my first screenplay based on a story I've written. Please be kind to its unprofessional quality, and focus on the story. It is a powerful story which I believe would make a great movie, if directed by an individual who can stay true to the themes of the screenplay. Thank you in advance for your reading and consideration.

GONE FROM DARKNESS

FADE IN:

EXT. GRASSY FIELD - DAY

                       NARRATOR
I awoke to find myself unaware of
my location, confused with my
surroundings.

Matt wakes up from a peaceful slumber, sits up on his elbows
and looks around with a confused expression. He stands up
and starts looking around.

                       NARRATOR
I found the mere notion that I was
puzzled over my situation quite
comical. I mean, how could I NOT
know who I am, where I am, or
where I'm from? That's just
absurd! Why, just a few minutes
ago I had been…… Wait a minute…..
Where had I been? I don't remember
that either. Who am I for that
matter?

Ok, let's calm down here. First
thing's first, find out where I
am.

Matt stands up and takes a panoramic view of the area. He
finds himself standing on a small hill, with a small pond at
its base on one side. Off in the distance, he sees a tree
with birds flying around it.
He bends down to take a drink. He smiles at his reflection
in the water, draws his hands into the water and cupped some
water in his hands and drinks. He is visibly comforted by
the taste of the water.

                       NARRATOR
The water was cool and refreshing.
As soon as I tasted it, I felt my
muscles pulse with energy.

I no longer felt worried of how
long it would take me to find
someone in this mysterious, hilly
plain. I was sure I'd find someone
and, hopefully, begin to piece
together the moments of my life
which I'd strangely forgotten.

2.

Matt stands up and begins walking toward the distant tree

                       NARRATOR
I figured my best bet was to head
toward the trees, so I began my
quest for answers by seeing what I
could find by that lively looking
tree.

Matt walks down the small hill towards the distant tree,
taking notice of the blue sky, the green grass, and the
warm, gentle wind.

VISION 1

                                         FADE INTO "VISION"
VAGUE IMAGES OF
FACES OF PEOPLE HE
USED TO KNOW

                       NARRATOR
I sifted through my mind, looking
for details regarding my identity,
and was discouraged to find none.
Faces of strangers flashed through
my mind from time to time, but I
decided that I would simply absorb
the faces for the moment, rather
than trying to put a name to them.
Hopefully, I guessed, as time went
on, they'd come to me on their
own.

END VISION 1

Matt approaches the tree, where Luke sits facing to Matt's
Northwest. Matt circles around the tree counterclockwise to
observe Luke, who's using one arm to prop himself up, and
the other feeling the blades of grass with his hand. He has
one knee bent towards his chest and the other leg flat on
the ground. His hair tousled in the breeze. As Matt comes
within about 10 feet, Luke turns his head, makes eye
contact, and smiles.

                       LUKE
Hi, I'm...

Luke's voice trails off. Matt gives Luke an understanding
smile.

                       MATT
Don't know your name either, huh?

3.

                       LUKE
      (Uncertainty)
No

Luke stands up and they look each other over. He offers his
and and they shake.

                       UN-NAMED VOICE
      (Whisper)
Luke.

Matt and Luke's happy expressions turn to surprise.

                       MATT
      (Trembling voice)
I.... I think your name is Luke

Luke nods

                       LUKE
Then yours must be Matt

                       NARRATOR
Great, we knew each others names
but not our own.

                       MATT
      (Confused)
Where are we?

                       LUKE
      (Perplexed)
I don't know

EXT. VISION 2 - DAY

Large lake, with two story log cabin nearby. Dock extends
50 feet into the water. Small sailboat floats tied up at
the end of the dock.

END VISION 2

Matt looks out in the distance.

INT. SMALL HILL (SCENE 1) - DAY

                       NARRATOR
I felt a gentle pull and looked in
the direction of its source. I got
the feeling the cabin was in that
direction. North, South, I had no
idea which direction was which.

4.

                       NARRATOR (cont'd)
All I knew was that we would draw
nearer to that cabin by heading
towards the pulse of energy.

Matt nods his head towards the source of his "pull"

                       MATT
This way. Come on

Matt walks in the direction of the "pull" and Luke shrugs
his shoulders and follows. The two walk in silence. Camera
cuts in and out as they progress, showing them growing
increasingly tired as time goes on (breathing a little
heavier, sweating, wiping brow, etc) Day grows long, sun
begins to set.

                       NARRATOR
As we really didn't have anything
to talk about, we walked along in
silence, looking at each other
occasionally as we walked. I
couldn't shake the feeling that I
knew "Luke" somehow. I really
hoped my memory would improve with
time.

INT. LAKE HOUSE - DAY

                       NARRATOR
After what seemed like an
infinitely short and endlessly
long time at once, and after
reaching the apex of the umpteenth
hill we'd crossed that day, the
same cabin I saw in my vision
appeared before us. It was
exactly as I'd envisioned it.

                       MATT
      (Smiling with
       relief)
Finally!

Luke smiled in return. The two boys walk, skip, and ran
down the long gentle slope, laughing and pushing each other
around playfully.
Luke raises his arms in victory as they reached the cabin.

                       LUKE
      (Smiles, laughs,
       Exclaims with
       triumph)

5.

                       LUKE (cont'd)
I won!

Matt smiles and catches up to Luke and they stand about 20
feet from the cabin.

EXT. THE CABIN - DAY

The house was a large two-story log cabin, with a well-kept
lawn. The house sat 30 feet from a large body of water that
stretched on as far as the eye could see. There was a dock
extending 30 feet into the water, with a sleek 20 foot
sailboat tied up

                       NARRATOR
I remember thinking how the water
seemed to stretch on for miles,
yet it almost seemed as though it
started right where the house sat,
as if it were made just for its
inhabitants.

Luke and Matt walk up to the door. There was a sign in
intricately cut wood displaying the names "Matt and Luke"

Luke and Matt looked at each other incredulously

                       MATT
      (Excited)
Well, I guess this place is ours!

Luke smiles, nods, turns the handle of the door, and it
opens without effort.

INT. INSIDE THE CABIN - DAY

Panoramic view including Luke and Matt entering, kitchen on
left, leading into dining room, large atrium in the foyer,
towards the back a door leading out to the dock. toward
immediate right is a living area, with stairs leading up to
the second floor.

The boys walk over the threshold and study the surroundings:
grand furniture, immaculately kept hardwood floors, huge
windows with light pouring in. Large kitchen with marble
counter tops, cabinets and cupboards, stove, oven,
microwave, fridge

Luke runs over to the fridge and looks in

6.

                       LUKE
      (surprise)
Whoa, this place is loaded!
There's enough food in here for
months!

Matt smiles

                       NARRATOR
      (introspective,
       voice trails at
       end)
I couldn't help but smile at my
friend's youthful vigor. It was
nice to feel young again

INT. VISION 3 - DAY

Vague fragment of memories... Older man and woman laughing
and talking in a room similar to the one they were in.

                       NARRATOR
Another vague fragment of a memory
sped through my mind, but it was
too fast for me to examine fully.
I saw a couple laughing and
talking together, but I was unable
to get a sense of who the were.

END VISION 3

                       MATT
      (With fatigue and
       stress)
Let's go find some place to sleep.
I'm exhausted.

Boys turn and head to the den.

INT. DEN - NIGHT

BOOKSHELVES ALONG WALLS, DESK IN BACK, COUCHES IN FRONT

Boys enter, survey the room, turn and leave, head through
foyer, up stairs, and into another room.

INT. BEDROOM - NIGHT

Boys enter bedroom. A large bed in middle, nightstands on
either side, Closets across the room, dresser on right side.

7.

Boys yawn and wish each other good night, lay down on either
side of bed and quickly fall asleep

INT. VISION 4 - NIGHT

Two boys sitting on a swing, talking casually, smiling,
looking deep into each others eyes. One figure puts his
hand lightly on the other boy's shoulder, and they lean
their faces closer and closer, and just as their lips were
about to touch, the dream faded into nothingness.

                       NARRATOR
During the night I had a dream,
with vivid colors, smells, and
textures. My senses felt more
heightened than I'd ever
experienced. Granted, I couldn't
really recall what I HAD
experienced, but I just knew that
the level upon which this "dream"
worked was beyond description,
almost supernatural.

two male figures in their mid teens, talking to each other
casually, yet very lovingly.

                       NARRATOR
I felt a strong bond between the
two of them, perhaps like that of
the bond between brothers? No,
that wasn't it. Maybe cousins or
best friends? Could have been

One boy puts his hand lightly on the others shoulder, and
they lean their faces closer and closer. Just as their lips
are about to come into contact, dream scene fades out.

                                         FADE TO PRESENT

INT. BEDROOM, CONT - NIGHT

Matt laying in bed awake, pondering the dream, watching Luke
sleep.

                       NARRATOR
Well, I was pretty sure those two
boys were not brothers, as they
were about to kiss. Were they
lovers? No, boys don't love each
other, do they? I wasn't sure.

8.

Luke stirs, stretches, and opens his eyes. Luke and Matt
look each other in the eyes.

                       MATT
      (gleefully)
Morning.

                       LUKE
      (giggling)
Same to you.

                       MATT
So, you wanna go do some more
exploring?

                       LUKE
      (Rubbing his
       stomach)
I think we should eat first. I'm
starving!

                       MATT
      (Smiling,
       enthusiastic)
Sounds good to me!

Boys climb out of bed, scramble to put their clothes on, and
run out the door, down the stairs and toward the kitchen.

INT. KITCHEN - DAY

Luke and Matt make breakfast of pancakes, eggs, bacon,
toast, orange juice and milk. Shots of them cooking, eating,
joking and laughing. The boys eat everything in sight, burp
and giggle in satisfaction.

INT. KITCHEN SINK - DAY

Luke and Matt have fun cleaning the dishes, laughing,
joking, and splashing each other with water. They begin to
grow sweaty, the day becomes hot.

Matt throws the towel on the counter, leans back, sighs, and
wipes his sweaty forehead.

                       MATT
Whew, its hot! Let's go for a
swim.

9.

                       LUKE
      (Smiling)
Alright. That sounds like fun.

Luke throws the towel aside and they abandon the rest of the
dishes, then head out of the kitchen toward upstairs
bedroom.

INT. UPSTAIRS BEDROOM - DAY

Matt grabs a couple towels out of the closet, runs over to
Luke and grabs him, quickly pulling him along with him down
the stairs and out the door.

EXT. SWIMMING - DAY

Boys jog down the path and onto the dock, laughing and
pushing each other lightly. Upon reaching the end of the
dock, Matt begins shedding clothes, looks over at Luke and
urges him to join him.

                       MATT
Come on, let's go!

Luke looks bashful, reluctant. He turns his back to Matt
and starts to disrobe. When he was down to his underwear,
he quickly threw them off and jumped into the water feet
first, wading in enough to cover his nakedness.

Matt smiles at Luke

                       MATT
      (Calming,
       reassuring voice)
Relax, there's no one here to see
you naked.

Luke lowers his head and peers up at Matt, bashfully.

                       LUKE
No one here but you.

Matt smiled at Luke's shyness.

Matt continued undressing until he was naked, while Luke
takes a few peeks at him, then walked down the dock slowly
and jumped in, wading up next to Luke.

10.

                       MATT
      (Jokingly)
I'm not sure if you know this
but...

                       MATT
      (whispers in
       Luke's ear)
We've got the same equipment.

Luke laughs nervously and gets red in the face.

Matt seems perplexed as to why Luke is so bashful, but says
nothing.

The two laugh, play, splash each other, generally have fun.

EXT. VISION 5- FAMILY PLAYS AT THE BEACH - DAY

                       NARRATOR
As we relished our enjoyable swim
together, another memory appeared
before my mind's eye, one that
warmed my heart.

Family of four (two boys, two parents) played at the
beach.in a scene similar to the above scene.

Father gets up from his chair, goes out into the water and
rustled the boys, who began protesting to stay in the water,
out.

                       ADULT MATT
      (Sympathetic but
       stern)
Alright guys, its time to get out.
We've gotta get back home before
it starts getting dark.

                       BOY 1
      (Protesting, upset)
Aww dad, do we have to get out?

                       BOY 2
      (Whiny voice)
Yeah, dad, do we HAVE to?

Boys continue to plead playfully with their father as he
laughs and guides them back toward their beach umbrella,
with two chairs. The volume of the conversation goes silent
but they still argue with their father as they walk towards
their mother.

11.

Wife is sitting in a reclining beach chair. The husband sits
down next to her and holds her hand while the boys dry off,
laugh and talk.

The boys gather up their pails and shovels, knock over their
well built sandcastle, and pack things up.
The parents look on in pride.

The father looks over at his wife, and his demeanor changed
to one of sorrow.

                       NARRATOR
Though I could tell that they
loved each other and their
children very much, something was
missing. Something kept the two
of them at arms length.

EXT. VISION FADES TO PRESENT, MATT IN WATER - DAY

A strong wave suddenly hits Matt, knocks him down and into
the water. He recovers and gets to his feet.

Luke ran over to Matt.

                       LUKE
      (Concerned voice)
Are you alright?

Matt coughs and sputters, Luke slaps him on the back
lightly.

                       MATT
      (Coughing between
       words)
Yeah, I'm ok. Thanks.

Matt sighs and stretches, Luke continues to look at Matt
with concern, slaps his back to help get the water out.

                       MATT
I think I'm gonna go lie down on
the beach

Matt walks toward the shore, reaches the beach blanket, and
plops himself down, laying on his back.

Luke watches Matt, unsure whether to keep swimming or risk
embarrassment and head into the beach. He continues to
swim, but feels foolish for swimming alone.

After a couple of minutes, he dashes out of the water, runs

over to the beach blanket, grabs a towel, and covers his
privates, wrapping the towel tightly around his waist. He
sits down on the blanket with his legs crossed, and a hand
covering the towel, so it doesn't fly off if the wind gusts.

Matt peers over at Luke, who's deliberately avoiding Matt's
eyes, trying to appear comfortable even though he wasn't.

                       NARRATOR
I could understand Luke's
behavior, however strange. He
was, after all, abused at a very
young age.

Matt is visibly overcome with an ill feeling

INT. VISION 6- 8 YR OLD LUKE'S BEDROOM - NIGHT

                       NARRATOR
I felt sick to my stomach as
visions of Luke at the age of
eight slept soundly in his bed,
when a man quietly crept into his
room, slipped under the covers,
and performed unspeakable acts
upon him

Luke's uncle quietly creeps into 8 yr old Luke's dark
bedroom, slips under the covers, and seemingly abuses the
boy.

8 year old Luke squirms around in bed, looking sick in the
face, trying to quietly shoo the man away.

                       8 YR OLD LUKE
      (quiet insistence)
No....stop, please

Luke's Uncle places a hand over 8 yr old Luke's mouth and
continues. Scene fades out back to the present.

EXT. BEACH CONTINUED - DAY

Matt returns to "the present" and becomes self-conscious of
his nudity, quickly putting his clothes back on.

                       NARRATOR
I couldn't believe that Luke's
UNCLE of all people would do such
a horrible thing to him. It
disturbed me enough to seek the
comfort of my clothes, so I

quickly dresed.

Seeing what Matt was doing, Luke followed suit, careful to
keep the towel covering him until he was sufficiently
covered. Luke looked at Matt questioningly.

                       LUKE
      (confused)
Did I do something wrong?

Matt looks at Luke as though he has two heads.

                       MATT
      (still visibly
       shaken by vision)
No Luke. I just.... remembered
something unpleasant from my life.

                       LUKE
      (curious face)
What was it about?

Matt sighs

                       MATT
Oh, it was nothing, don't worry
about it.

                       NARRATOR
I couldn't bear to tell Luke what
I'd seen. I figured it would be
best to wait for the vision to
come to him when he was ready.

Matt looks out over the water during narration, then gets up
and nods his head towards the cabin.

                       MATT
Come on, let's go inside.

Luke gets up and eagerly follows Matt into the cabin.

INT. BACK IN THE CABIN - DAY

Scene cuts to the boys in various rooms of the house:
reading some of the books in the den, playing card games in
the living room.

Luke and Matt are playing cards. Luke is just about to
throw a card down, when he looks up at Matt quizzically

14.

                       LUKE
You're an only child, right?

                       MATT
Yes, I am. I hated not having a
brother or sister to do stuff
with.

Matt pauses to think for a moment.

                       MATT
      (Matter-of-factly)
You are one too.

                       LUKE
      (deducing)
Maybe that's why we always got
along so well.

The two continue their card game.

                       NARRATOR
It became commonplace for us to
suddenly blurt out things from our
past without even thinking, as if
someone was speaking for us, or
perhaps through us, because I
could never remember my past when
I focused on it. The answers came
when they came, and that was the
way we rediscovered our life.

EXT. VISION 7 - DAY

                       NARRATOR
More memories trickled into my
mind one at a time: Camping trips
out in my parents backyard when we
were eight, playing cops and
robbers with little toy guns and
bags of laundry which we
designated as "loot," swimming
lessons together at the Young
Men's Christian Association in our
home town of Oakland, CA, Cheating
off each others math tests in
sixth grade. We'd been best of
friends for as long as I could
remember.

Mini-scenes of Luke and Matt doing things together cut in
and out: Camping in Matt's backyard when they were 8,

INT. RETURN TO THE PRESENT, PLAYING CARDS - DAY

                       NARRATOR
I enjoyed each memory as if I was
living it that very moment;
smelling every smell, hearing
every sound, feeling the textures
of everything around me. I didn't
know how I'd come to lose my
memory, nor how I was recalling,
but I enjoyed discovering and
piecing my past together.

Card game ends and Matt packs up the cards

                       NARRATOR
By the end of our card game, we
knew just about everything there
was to know about each other, from
our earliest memories until the
end of our childhood.

INT. VISION 8 - DAY

PRESENT FADES INTO ANOTHER VISION.

                       NARRATOR
One day when we were fourteen,
Luke and I decided to take the
dingy my parents bought for my
birthday earlier in the year out
on the bay to do some sailing.

Luke and Matt, appearing to be around 14 years old, were
playing around on the beach, when they decided to take the
dingy Matt's parents bought for him on his 14th birthday out
on the Bay.

Scene cuts to Matt and his father sailing on the boat.

                       NARRATOR
Dad took me out on the boat only a
couple of times, as his hectic
work schedule didn't allow him
much free time. He was a well
known prosecutor for the District
Attorney's office. I usually only
saw him at breakfast, if I got up

Matt and his father interact on the dingy, laughing and
joking. His father reminds him to watch what he's doing as
he's steering the boat.

                       MATT
He was a loving father, when he
was around, but he had some
expectations of me that I wished
never to reach. My dream was to
be with Luke until we were old and
grey. His dream was to see his
only son grow up to be as
successful as himself, to have a
wife, a family, and a career in
Law. HE was not disappointed.

Return to scene of Luke and Matt preparing to take the boat
out. Matt prepared the sail, while he directed Luke to
untie the boat from the dock, then he boarded and they were
off.

                       NARRATOR
Luke was excited about sailing, as
he'd never been on a boat before.
It wasn't much of a sailboat; just
a mast, rudder, and two planks to
sit on. For us, though, it became
an escape from our parents, who we
knew would never approve of the
kind of relationship ours was
developing into.

EXT. OUT ON THE BAY (VISION 8 CONT) - DAY

Matt and Luke grabbed some food, oars, and life jackets,
packed it into the boat, and took off.

Matt and Luke are out in the middle of the bay. The weather
is warm, sunny, and windy.

Matt showed Luke how to pilot the boat as they cruise around
the bay. Luke watched attentively and excitedly.

                       LUKE AT 14
      (Excitedly)
Man, this is awesome

17.

                       MATT AT 14
      (Smiling)
You wanna steer for a bit?

Luke looked over at Matt excitedly, smiling broadly.

                       LUKE AT 14
      (pronouncing
       proudly)
Hell yeah!

Luke stands up abruptly, causing the boat to shift quickly.

                       MATT AT 14
      (jokingly)
Whoa, easy there, bud. Slowly!

Matt laughs as Luke slows and carefully makes his way to the
stern of the boat. He squeezes himself between Matt and the
hull of the boat, the two boys midsections making contact
for a moment.

Matt looks into Luke's eyes lovingly, smiles, grasped his
hand, Luke smiles, and the two boys slowly lean in and kiss
each other lovingly.

                       NARRATOR
It was our first kiss. Until
then, I wasn't sure we were any
closer than a couple of good
friends. I knew then, for sure,
that we were a lot closer than
that. I loved Luke, and I was
certain that he loved me.

The boys break contact of the kiss, Matt smiles at Luke,
stands up and moves toward the bow, and Luke begins steering
the boat off into a different area of the bay.

                       NARRATOR
I couldn't remember us ever having
more fun together. We laughed and
joked, talked and ate. We spent a
lot of time kissing and caressing
each other. It was really sweet,
being out on the water with him.
We created memories together that
I would cherish for the rest of my
life.

INT. BACK IN PRESENT,TABLE WHERE THEY PLAYED CARDS - NIGHT

                       LUKE
Hey Matt?

Matt breaks his focus, looks over at Luke and smiles.

                       MATT
Yeah?

                       LUKE
Let's take the boat out tomorrow.

Matt looks visibly surprised, jaw drops. Luke smiles slyly.

                       MATT
      (Stunned)
Sure....Sounds good

Luke keeps smiling, and the two boys get up to go to bed.

Boys are in bedroom, getting ready for bed.

                       NARRATOR
      (excitedly)
I couldn't wait to get out on the
boat again. It had been a long
time since we'd been out on the
water together. It was going to
be a lot of fun for the both of
us.

EXT. OUT ON THE WATER - DAY

Boys are out on the water, sailing together as they had in
Matt's vision.

                       NARRATOR
The following day of sailing was
truly wonderful. We had a blast
letting the wind blow through our
hair, feeling the sun cast its
warm rays upon us, and letting the
moment consume us.

Matt steering the boat around, making jokes and laughing
with Luke. A few minutes later, they take a break from
sailing and eat lunch.

Luke take over steering for a while.

Whoa... take it easy. Slowly!

Luke looks sorrowful, stops himself, and proceeds to slowly
climb towards Matt. He sits down next to Matt, close enough
that their thighs touched.

                       LUKE
      (bashful look)
Sorry...

Matt smiles.

                       MATT
      (looking deeply
       into Luke's eyes)
Don't worry about it

Matt gently grasps Luke's hand in his. They look lovingly
into each others eyes, lean in and kiss each other gently.

                       NARRATOR
It was our second "first kiss"....
it was sweeter than I remembered.
I felt as though our souls melded
together and became one. I knew
once again that I was in love.

INT. RETURNING TO CABIN AFTER SAILING - NIGHT

Matt and Luke return to the cabin, carrying things in with
them, making small talk, then head upstairs, plop into bed
and quickly fall asleep "in a heap of twisted limbs."

EXT. BORING DAY, ON BACK PORCH. - DAY

quickly with playing cards, throwing rocks into the water,
and generally moping around.

Are you sure? I mean, we've got
everything we need to survive
here.

                       MATT
Hey, don't get me wrong, you're
good company, but I've gotta get
out of here and DO SOMETHING.

                       LUKE
      (half joking)
Alright, but if we get lost, I'm
blaming you!

                       MATT
      (Smiling)
Its a deal.

Luke shivers suddenly

                       LUKE
Ooh... Its getting cold! Let's go
inside.

Matt brings his arms close to his body, warming his arms
with his hands

                       MATT
      (shivering
       slightly)
Good idea. We should get to bed
anyway... We've got a lot of
walking ahead of us.

Boys get up and pack up the games, head to bedroom.

INT. INSIDE THE HOUSE - DAY

Luke and Matt head up the stairs to the master bedroom,
undress quickly, and scurry under the covers. At first they

lay apart, but can't get warm no matter how much they hug
the covers.

Matt turns toward Luke, who appears just as cold, but trying
not to show it. Matt carefully edges himself toward Luke,
until they were almost touching. They begin to warm up and
stop shivering slowly.

                       NARRATOR
As I lie awake, unable to sleep, I
had another vision; One that
brought warmth and love into my
heart

INT. VISION 9-FIRST ROMANTIC EXPERIENCE - NIGHT

                       NARRATOR
I saw Luke and I at fourteen. We'd
been having a secret relationship
for a year. I saw the excitement
we experienced in having sleeping
with another boy, felt the
feelings it aroused inside us, the
fantasies we entertained, but were
afraid what would happen if we
played those fantasies out.

14 year old Luke and Matt laying together. Matt whispers
Luke's name, and Luke turns toward him. The two stared into
each others eyes. Matt reaches over and caresses Luke's
stomach and chest. Luke reacts strongly to the sensual
stimulation. The two kiss and caress each other.

Matt stops, takes Luke's hand in places it on his crotch,
and does the same to Luke. They begin to (seemingly)
pleasure each other manually, moaning, panting, grunting,
etc.... Pleasure reaches a peak, and the vision fades into
the present.

INT. MATT WAKES FROM DREAM - NIGHT

Matt lays comfortably, watching Luke sleep,

                       NARRATOR
As I lay there watching Luke

and the next. I fell asleep

INT. DAY OF TREK - DAY

Matt and Luke sitting in the kitchen, eating breakfast. Luke
has tight body language, eyes distant, seems as though
something is disturbing him.

                       NARRATOR
My suspicions that Luke was having
similar dreams was confirmed the
next morning, during a noticeably
quiet breakfast.

Luke's body language told me
something was disturbing him to
his very core. His eyes were
distant, his body very tight. He
reacted to every sound as though
he expected the boogie monster to
jump out and attack him at any
moment. I decided to let the
moment consume us, and give Luke
time to sort himself out.

Luke and Matt finish eating, get up and begin cleaning up
the breakfast mess.

EXT. THE TREK BEGINS - DAY

Matt and Luke gather their packs, with water, clothing, and
food, and walk down the front steps. Matt points toward the
river that broke off of the lake.

                       MATT
Let's go this way. We'll run into
a town along the river
somewhere... I hope

EXT. ALONG THE TREK - DAY

Matt and Luke walk around the river for hours, stop a couple
times to take a drink. Matt encourages Luke at one point.
They pass a wooded area, and could hear birds chirping, a
deer drinking from the river, unfazed by Matt and Luke's
presence.

23.

EXT. END OF THE TREK - NIGHT

Night approaches, the boys are tired, sweaty, worrisome. As
the last light of day disappears from the horizon, the light
from a town appears far away.

Matt motions Luke to look over to the approaching town, and
the boys renew their efforts with more confidence, approach
the town more quickly.

EXT. ARRIVING AT THE GATE - NIGHT

Boys arrive at the gate, and it opens mysteriously. The boys
walked up to the gate and look inside. They could see
people walking along the well lit streets, carrying bags and
goods. Families stood in front of their houses chatting
with others.

                       NARRATOR
I was glad we finally found
civilization, and I hoped that
we'd find the answers to our most
puzzling questions here.

I middle-aged man in a brown robe approaches from inside the
town

                       PETER
Welcome Gentlemen. I'm sure you
walked a great distance today.
I'll show you to your sleeping
quarters.

Matt and Luke eye the man suspiciously

                       NARRATOR
Though I'm sure my mother would
have told me never to talk to
strangers, I knew in my heart this
man wanted nothing more to put us
at ease, so I urged Luke onward.

Matt urges Luke to come with him and Peter

Matt, Luke, and Peter walk along the streets of the city.
People come out of their houses, wave or shake their hands.
Matt and Luke feel increasingly safe and comfortable there.

24.

EXT. VISION 10 - DAY

Matt loses focus and thinks about his parents. Images of his
parents flash into his mind.

                       MATT
      (Introspective)
I always wished I could have been
honest with my parents about my
relationship with Luke, but I knew
how they felt about THEM, knew
what they would have said if they
found out I was one of THOSE
PEOPLE

My Mother was a devout catholic,
who thought ill of anyone who
didn't act according to her
traditional Christian values. She
would have been disappointed to
know that her only son was Gay. My
father would have killed me, I was
sure. Seldom had a day gone by
that he didn't remind everyone
around him how little he cared for
"queers."
He was a man with very strict
expectations. I had to be great
at sports, had to be a straight A
student, to marry the prom queen,
and to have a son to carry on his
good name. That was the path
chosen for me, and it was the path
I led, despite all the voices
inside of me, urging me to follow
my heart.

EXT. AT THE APARTMENT - NIGHT

we'd only be there for a short
time.

Luke looks around then looks at Matt and yawns.

As the bliss of our first act of

Good gracious, Matt. Can't you
pick up after yourself?

How can you be such a slob?! I'm
sick and tired of picking up

Mom stops and stares at Matt and Luke , who are scrambling
to throw their clothes on.

Mrs. H, I was just....

                       MATT'S MOM
      (interrogating)
How dare you try to turn my son
into a pervert?!

Luke stutters and stammers, begins to cry. Matt's Mom goes
over to him and grabs him, pulling him toward the door. Luke
grabs his clothes and frantically tries to put them on as
he's forcibly ejected from the house.

                       MATT AT 16
      (Trailing behind,
       begging)
Mom, please, stop! I love him!

                       MATT'S MOM
Nonsense!

Matt's mom continues to drag Luke out of the house. Once
out side, Luke runs behind a bush to throw the rest of his
clothes on. He runs toward his house, looking back at Matt
sadly as he leaves. Matt is on knees in front of doorstep,
crying.

Matt's mom waits until Luke is a safe distance away, then
turns to Matt.

                       MATT'S MOM

Matt continues to plead with his mother to stop, but she
ignores him.

                       MATT'S MOM
And if I see or hear of you two
together, you're out on the

                       NARRATOR
I was so hurt, I wanted to die
right then. My spirit was broken.
The one thing in my life that
actually made sense had been cast
away from me.

I don't think I could have hurt
any more than I did at that
moment. Still, I knew my pain was
a far cry from the pain my love
was experiencing at that moment.

                                         MATT WAKES IN MIDDLE
OF NIGHT

and turns the rest of the night.

                       NARRATOR
Sleep evaded me the rest of the
night. I was overcome with a sick
feeling I was unable to shake.

I couldn't believe my mother would
treat a boy, who's only motive was
to love her son, like he was a
monster.

She never understood how a boy
could love another, and she never
would.

INT. BREAKFAST IN THE APARTMENT - DAY

Luke and Matt dress and eat in a thoughtful silence.

                       NARRATOR
The memories I recalled both
warmed and broke my heart each
time they appeared. I knew i
needed to see them, but I dreaded
the appearance of the bad
memories, of which I was sure I'd
see more.

32.

Matt and Luke silently cleaning up breakfast. There is a
soft tap at the door. Luke walks over and answers.

                       EDWARD
      (Cheerfully)
Hi! I'm Edward. Peter sent me to
give you a tour of the Great City,
as he had other business to attend
to. Are you ready?

Matt is sitting on bed, tying shoes.

                       MATT
Just about.

Matt walks over and joins the two, and they leave the
apartment, walking down the street toward center of city.

EXT. TOURING THE GREAT CITY - DAY

Edward, Matt, and Luke walk down a busy street. There are
apartments, houses, a market, etc.

                       NARRATOR
This is the temporary housing for
all of our visitors. Normally, no
one except those who work here
stay for longer than a week or
two.

Edward grins broadly after speaking.

The three continue on, Eric pointing at different things,
full of youthful exhuberance. Matt and Luke look at each
other and smile a few times as they walk. The crowd of
people gets thicker as they walk, and Matt and Luke join
hands to keep together.

Edward points to a building

                       EDWARD
That is the library. You'll find
answers to many questions inside
its walls.

They continue walking. Edward points to a beach.

                       EDWARD
That is the City's beach. I'm
sure I don't need to tell you what
that's for.

33.

Show beach with many beachgoers swimming, laying on beach,
etc.

Scene fades into another vision.

INT. VISION OF SCHOOL TAUNTING. - DAY

                       NARRATOR
As we continued through the city,
I found my focus shifting toward
another vision, this time taking
place outside the high school Luke
and I attended, the morning after
our relationship's unfortunate
discovery.

Matt stands around with a group of friends joking. Luke
walks by, locks eyes with Matt, and Matt scowls.

Matt points in Luke's direction.

                       MATT AT 16
      (sneering)
Hey, look. It's the school
faggot. Can you believe this kid
tried to RAPE me last night?

Matt's friends look digusted.

                       FRIEND 1
That's disgusting, man!

                       FRIEND 2
Man, that's sick. You should kick
his ass!

                       FRIEND 3
Yeah, kick his ass!

Luke looks hurt and fearful, tries to quickly leave. Matt's
three friends quickly grab him and hold him.

                       FRIEND 2
      (Spat)
You think you can get away with
molesting my friend?

                       FRIEND 1
Yeah man. What are you, some kind
of freak?

34.

                       FRIEND 3
Should have known you were a
faggot. So Matt, what are you
gonna do to this faggot?

Matt looks around. Points across the street at the gas
station.

                       MATT AT 16
Take him over there, behind the
gas station!

The three friends comply and drag Luke along, as he tries to
get free, stumbles on his feet, and is continually pulled
along until they reach the gas station. Matt follows behind
smiling menacingly.

Matt looks around to make sure he's not being seen.

                       NARRATOR
I stared down at Luke angrily, all
the while being terrified of my
secret being exposed and labelled
a fag.

Lukes eyes pleaded for my mercy,
but I'd show him none that day.

                       MATT AT 16
      (Looking disgusted)
So you think you can try to molest
me without any consequences, huh?
You're disgusting.

Matt balls up his fist and punches Luke in the stomach. Luke
doubles over in pain. Matt's friends hold him up and egg
Matt on.

Matt punches Luke in the nose with a strong right cross.
Luke's head jerks to the left. Punches him in the gut. Luke
coughs and sputters. Matt's friends egg him on.

Matt knees Luke in the crotch. Matt's friends laugh and let
go of Luke, he falls to the ground.

Matt's friends step in and start kicking him. Luke curls
into a ball and cries, groans, and screams.

                       NARRATOR
The beating seemed to last
forever, each groan and scream
echoing throughout my soul, as if
the abuse was laid upon myself.

35.

Matt looks fearful of killing Luke.

                       MATT AT 16
      (orders)
That's enough

Matt's friends stop and back away. Matt stands over Luke.

                       MATT AT 16
      (Demanding)
Look at me!

Luke looks up and locks eyes with Matt. Eyes plead for
mercy.

                       NARRATOR
Luke's eyes were empty. He was
defeated and broken. The same
eyes he'd loved me with for years
now begged me to kill him and end
his suffering.

Matt looks down at Luke and spits in his face. Luke looks
profoundly hurt.

                       NARRATOR
I couldn't believe I'd done this
to someone I loved so deeply. I
was nothing, dirt, a dispicable
human, if even that.

Matt looks at his friends

                       MATT AT 16
Let's get out of here.

Matt, friends leave Luke laying on the ground. Fade to
present.

                       EDWARD
      (Pointing at the
       church)
And this is the Church. You guys
have an appointment here tomorrow
morning. You think you'll
remember how to get back here?

Matt and Luke look uncertain.

                       EDWARD
Right, well, I can come back
tomorrow to take you here.
Alright?

36.

                       LUKE
      (relieved)
That would be nice, thanks.

                       MATT
This place is so new to us. It's
confusing.

                       EDWARD
Don't worry, I'll get you there on
time.

Edward shrugs

                       EDWARD
      (jokingly)
Well, that concludes today's tour.
Don't forget to visit the gift
shop on your way out.

Luke and Matt give a half-hearted laugh, but are visibly
preoccupied.

                       EDWARD
You know, it's getting warm. Why
don't I show you back to your
place and you can get your stuff
together and go for a swim? It's
too warm to do much else today.

                       MATT
Alright.

                       LUKE
Sure.

People of all ages laugh, swim, and play on beach and in
water.

Luke and Matt run towards the water. The beach and water is
filled with people of all ages playing, swimming, and having
fun. Theres a strange blue aura emanating from the water.

37.

The boys reach the water and their cares are lifted away.
They immediately smile and start playing around.

                       NARRATOR
I felt embraced by the calming
ocean waters as I swam with Luke
that afternoon. I could tell that
Luke wasn't as troubled as he had
been by his newly discovered past,
as was the same for me. It felt
great to wash my cares away, and
Luke and I had a blast playing in
the sea that afternoon.

I'd felt stronger than I had since
my awakening. It was as if the
water was a conduit between myself
and the love, peace, and energy of
the universe. It was a magical
experience.

Luke and Matt had fun for a while, until their eyes
connected one moment out of the blue. Their moods turn dark.

                       NARRATOR
Luke and I connected for a moment,
amidst the chaos of the ocean. I
wished he could find it in his
heart to love me again, like he
did BEFORE. But, it was just
wishful thinking. I knew he'd
never forgive me for what I'd done
to him.

Matt's face draws into sorrow, and turns and swims toward
shore. Luke follows shortly after.

Matt and Luke dress quietly, pack up, and walk back to their
apartment, put their stuff away, and go to sleep with hardly
a word.

brushes his hair with her hand, etc, tells him it will be
alright.

Doctors swarm around him. He's x-rayed, IVs put in, vitals
taken, etc.

                       NARRATOR

bruises.

Show Luke walking toward exit of school.

                       NARRATOR

he left town, looking for a more
accepting community than he'd
found in our home town.

Cut to Matt standing in commons area of school with
girlfriend, cuddling and kissing.

love was something I knew i'd
never find again, once it was
lost.

Cut to scenes of Matt's two sons getting diplomas and
hugging their parents, then to a big dinner where Matt's
sons each had chidren hanging off their arms.

                       NARRATOR
Before I knew it, my children had
children of their own, half a
lifetime passed me by. All the
while, my secret was never
exposed.

Matt working in therapist office, group therapy with
troubled teens.

                       NARRATOR
I spent many years helping those
like Luke and I, as if in a vain
attempt to right the wrongs I'd
committed. I was a fool to think
helping others would cancel out
all the evil I'd cast upon my one
true love, my soulmate. I never
forgave myself.

Elderly Matt sitting alone, lonely.

                       NARRATOR
Seventy years had passed since
Luke and I shared our love
together. It was the most painful
time in my life, but I never gave
in to my real self. He'd died a
long time ago, never to be seen
again.

Fade to elderly Matt in hospital bed

                       NARRATOR
There I lie on my death bed,
surrounded by all those who loved
me, except of course, the one who
loved me the most.

41.

Matt's family gathered around bed as he takes last breaths.

                       NARRATOR
My last thoughts on earth, as life
began to leave me, were of Luke:
how much I disappointed him, how
I'd give anything to stand fast in
defense of the boy I was destined
to be with, but too fearful to
love.

Even as my last breath left me, my
secret was never exposed.

INT. LUKE'S FATE - DAY

Cut to Luke in high school. Scenes of abuse with no one
coming to his aid.

                       NARRATOR
Visions of the indescribable abuse
Luke received without his knight
in shining armor to protect him
plagued me to the depths of my
soul. I bore witness to the
remainder of his life, as seen
through his eyes.

Luke coming out of High school, hitch-hiking to New York.
Gave truckers cash or sex for rides.

After dropping out of school, Luke
hitch-hiked his way to New York
City. Sometimes he paid the
truckers with cash, sometimes with
sex.

Luke and some friends at a party, smoking dope, doing lines
of coke.

                       NARRATOR
Luke got hooked on some powerful
drugs, and did whatever he could
to get his next fix.

Luke breaks into a house at night and steals cash and
jewelry. He sells himself on the street corner for money.

                       NARRATOR
He even resorted to selling his
body to get his next fix. But,
when the money ran out, and his

INT. FAMILY SEEKS MATT'S HELP - DAY

Matt in his office, gets a call from Luke's family members.

                       NARRATOR
I got a call from Luke's parents
one day, asking if he'd come to me
for help, and asked for assistance
finding him. I gave them a few
contacts I had in law enforcement
that could help them, but I
refused to get involved otherwise.
I blamed it on my hectic work
schedule and my family's
dependance on me, but I knew the
truth deep down.

Matt hangs up the phone, thinks.

                       NARRATOR
I wanted to help them find Luke,
but I was afraid I'd betray my
secret, and the very things that
supported my successful life would
come crumbling down.

Luke's death was a peaceful one.
He was surrounded by his adopted
children, who'd grown and had
children of their own.

                       NARRATOR
Luke lived his life without
regret, even for the bad choices
he'd made after high school. He
knew that the pain he suffered
prepared him to be a better person
later on in life.

He changed so many lives in the
short time he lived on Earth. His
personality was shaped just as it

Though I dreaded those final
visions, I felt strangely at ease
once they passed. Despite what I
put him through, Luke persevered.
He rose above his pain and did
what he was destined to do: love
and be loved.

                                         CUT TO THREE BOYS
WALKING TO CHURCH

Boys nervous and jittery,

                       NARRATOR
I thought long and hard about my
past mistakes as we walked toward
the church, where we were due to
meet The Father shortly. I had no
idea what he'd say, but I feared
the worst. I had betrayed my soul
mate, and for that I felt I should
pay.

Matt looks over at Luke, who remains silent but meets Matt's
eyes blankly.

                       NARRATOR
I had no idea how Luke felt about
me at that moment. If our
situations were reversed, I can't
say I would have forgiven him for
what he'd done to me, even if
things ended up ok later on. All
I knew was, I would love Luke
until the end of my existence,
whether we were together or apart.
I'd never again give into my fear
and insecurity.

Luke, Matt, and Edward arrive outside the church, walk
inside. Matt and Luke are nervous and jittery. Luke and
Matt are awed at the size of the church.

INT. MEETING THE FATHER - DAY

Matt and Luke follow Edward in. They walk up the aisle, all
the way to the front of the church. Edward motions the
front row, and Luke and Matt sit down, leaving considerable
space between them, but seemingly wanting to reach out.

                       EDWARD
Wait here a moment. The Father
will be here shortly

Matt fiddles with his thumbs. Luke stares at his feet,
pushing the soles of his shoes into the carpet as if digging
holes in the sand.

                       NARRATOR
All I wanted to do was reach out
with my hand and take hold of
Lukes, to comfort him, myself..

                       NARRATOR
I knew by the look on his face,
and the space we put between us,
that Luke had seen the same vision
as I had. I so was ashamed of the
pain I'd caused him, I could think
of nothing to say that would make
up for any of what I had done to
him.

Matt starts to cry.

                       NARRATOR
It was at that moment when all of
the visions of the past few days
came together, made sense. I was
the boy who denied my true love,
humiliated and assualted him, and
tossed him away like he meant
nothing at all to me. I was the
one who hid my sexuality behind a
more acceptable facade. I was the
one who lied to my wife and
children, taking my secret along
with me in death.

                       NARRATOR (cont'd)
I was the one who refused to help
when Luke's family needed me to
find Luke. I should have been
with him to share every moment of
our lives together. Most of all,
I should have been the one holding
his hand he took his final breath.

                       NARRATOR
It was the lowest moment of my
existance. There I sat, looking
over the choices I made, the lies
I told, and the people I hurt.
What was it all for? To protect my
social standing? To please my
parents? To be "normal?" There was
no excuse. I was a coward and a
traitor to Luke and myself.

                       NARRATOR
I could have stood tall and proud
with my soul mate, but I cast him
aside like yesterday's news, like
he meant nothing to me.

                       NARRATOR
I didn't deserve any of the good
times I had with him.

The Father walks in.

                       THE FATHER
Gentlemen.

Luke and Matt look up surprised, stand up instinctively,
eyes cast down.

                       NARRATOR
He had only spoken a word, and I
already knew this man held the
fate of our existance in his
hands.

                       THE FATHER
      (Motions for them
       to relax)
Sit, please.

Matt and Luke comply.

48.

                       THE FATHER
Well, Well.... You two have led
quite eventful lives. You both
overcame a multitude of obstacles
to achieve success in life.

                       NARRATOR
I waited for the other shoe to
drop.

                       THE FATHER
You also had a considerable number
of failures, which were completely
avoidable, and a betrayal to
yourselves and those who loved
you.

Matt and Luke look very distressed.

                       NARRATOR
This was it. My day of judgment
had arrived, and I was terrified.

                       THE FATHER
Matthew, you denied your soulmate
and yourself the love which so
clearly consumed you both. You
lived most of your life under the
protection of a lie that kept you
from making true connections with
everyone in your path, even your
family.

You broke your lover's spirit,
cast him aside as though he meant
nothing to you, and never looked
back. For that, I can't forgive
you.

Matt is trembling and crying. The Father turns to Luke.

                       THE FATHER
Lucas, you abused the mind and
body I gave you. You hurt your
friends and family by lying to
them, stealing from them, and
causing them worry while you
wasted my gifts to you and
travelled off the path to
happiness. You denied your
purpose for many years.

Luke hangs his head. Matt looks at The Father in surprise.

49.

                       THE FATHER
The pair of you perpetrated
deplorable acts upon yourselves
and others. These acts are
unforgivable, and for that, I
should cast you both out of this
paradise, to wander alone in
darkness forever.

                       NARRATOR
I couldn't believe The Father was
passing such harsh judgment upon
Luke. He didn't deserve the blame
for what happend because of me. It
was my foolish choices that led
him astray, not his.

Luke is devastated, crying. Matt becomes desperate.

                       MATT
      (begging, crying)
Please, Sir. Let Luke stay. He
only did those things because of
me. I'm responsible for all of
it.

Luke stands and puts a hand on Matt's shoulder to stop him.

                       LUKE
      (Pleading)
No, you should save him. I've
seen the torment of his mind. All
I want is for him to have peace.
Please, allow him to stay and I
will leave.

The Father watches silently as Luke and Matt plead their
cases.

                       MATT
      (Insistant)
No, Luke. I won't let you do
that. I'm leaving and that's
final.

The Father raises his hand and Luke and Matt fall silent.

                       THE FATHER
Give me your hand, each of you.

Luke and Matt give him their hands.

Luke and Matt look each other in the eyes meekly.

                       THE FATHER
Though I was ready to cast you
away on the merits of your
misdeeds, there is one more vision
you must see.

INT. FINAL VISION - DAY

Hospital room, with two beds, each with families surrounding
them. Aged luke and Matt in the beds.

                       NARRATOR
There we stood, facing two dying
men. They were us. Our families
were saying goodbye to us, as our
time had almost come.

Heart monitors for Elder Matt and Luke flat-line at the same
time.

                       NARRATOR
We died at the same time, in the
same room, we didn't even know we
were together again.

Some sort of wave effects Luke and Matt simultaneously, a
voice of Matt and Luke's last thought echoes

                       LUKE ON DEATHBED
Lord, please forgive him

                       MATT ON DEATHBED

Matt and Luke fall to their knees, crying.

51.

                       THE FATHER
The two of you possess a powerful
gift, coming only from the soul.
It can not be taken; it can only
be given.

Matt and Luke connect eyes, passionate love in their eyes

                       THE FATHER
I cannot forgive you for what
you've done to yourselves and each
other. I can not do so, because
you have already done so for
yourself.

Matt and Luke in awe, mouths open, They smile and hug each
other.

                       NARRATOR
At last, I got to be the
strong-willed boy who stood fast
in defense of the one he loved. I
cast my fears aside and did what
was right for him, and he'd done
the same for me.

The love we held for each other
set us free.

The Father smiles at them

                       THE FATHER
You've learned what you've come to
learn. Now it is time to go and
rediscover the love you lost so
long ago.

Luke and Matt smile, grasp each other's hand and walk out
the church.

Outside the church, Matt spins Luke around and kisses him.
Luke smiles. Onlookers smile at their loving expression.
They lock hands and continue walking down toward the
entrance to the city.

Luke gets a chill, shivers, and rubs his arms.

                       LUKE

Ooo, it's getting cold.

Matt takes Luke's hands in his, brings them to his mouth and
blows warm air on them.

                       NARRATOR
I wasn't sure if he was blushing
from my gesture, or because it was
getting chilly out, but Luke had
quite a red face when we
separated.

                       MATT
We should make a fire tonight.

                       LUKE
That sounds good. You get the
wood, I'll heat up some cocoa.

Luke turns toward the cabin, Matt grabs his arm.

                       MATT
      (urgence)
Wait.

Luke looks back at Matt questioningly.

Matt wraps his arms around him, they smile, lean in, and
kiss lovingly.

                       LUKE
What was that for?

Matt shrugs

                       MATT
Just 'cause.

Luke smiles and leans in, kissing Matt longer, more
passionately.

                       LUKE
"Just 'cause".... good enough
reaason for me.

Matt and Luke smile and hug tighter, then release each other
and go off in different directions; Matt to get wood, and
Luke inside the cabin to the kitchen.

                                         PIECE TOGETHER
SCENES OF MATT

MAKING A FIRE, LUKE
BOILING MILK AND
MAKING COCOA.

Cut to Luke bringing in Cocoa on a platter, while Matt
finishes with the fire, now roaring, stands up. Matt smiles
at Luke, grabs a blanket from the basket, the two of them
sit indian-style in front of fireplace, Matt wraps a blanket
around them both, and luke gives the hot chocolate to Matt,
they sit together sipping cocoa.

                       NARRATOR
It was a dream come true, being
with Luke again. I never thought
I'd see the day, after what I did
to him.

I still didn't understand how Luke
was so easily able to forgive me.
He was truly an angel incarnate in
life, and nothing less in the
afterlife.

Matt and Luke look at each other lovingly.

                       MATT
I love you forever, Luke.

                       LUKE
I'll love you longer.

MATT MAKING LOVE IN
FRONT OF FIRE, THEN
TO THE OUTSIDE OF
THE CABIN.

                       NARRATOR
We made love in front of the
raging fire that night. It was
heaven. From then on, we were
forever one.

We spent the rest of eternity
together in that cabin, sharing
our love for each other; never
apart, and forever gone from
darkness.

It took me a while, but I made it through.lol I think this script has lots of elements and great potential, and has the qualities that could making it into a possibly powerful and moving film. I just say it needs a little bit of revamping, but its a keeper. Just remember, "Writing is Rewriting".

Don't listen to the guy above me, The slugline was good. You did it right, but you need to work on your dialogue a LITTLE bit more, and I think you'll be a good writer. Good luck.

The very first slugline keeps me from wanting to read more. The slugline should never be detailed like that. Here's how it should be: EXT. GRASSY FIELD - SMALL HILL - DAY. And then below that you should put in a description. Just trying to help.
