A young man finds a girl at work to be almost too much of a perfect match for him. So perfect she just might not exist.
This is my first script I have ever written and it was for a contest. So the more comments the better

FADE IN:

INT. SHOPPING MALL PARKING LOT - DAY |
|
|
A young man, approximately 18 years of age steps out of his
car in an almost empty parking lot. BOB'S ENTERTAINMENT
MEMORABILIA is stitched on his uniform. |
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
Another day, another dollar. |
|
|
|
He reaches in his pocket and jingles his keys, then closes
the door to his car. |
|
|
|
MICHEAL slowly makes his way towards the mall entrance. |
|
|
| |
|
INT. BOB’S ENTERTAINMENT MEMORABLIA - DAY |
|
|
Michael walks through the entrance to see a man cleaning the
glass on display cases. |
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
So, how's Eugene today. |
|
|
|
|
The man turns slowly to look at Michael. |
|
|
| |
EUGENE
Eugene is doing fine today. I have
someone here you should meet. |
|
|
|
EUGENE points towards the cash register, where a startlingly
good looking woman stands arranging the miscellaneous items
on the counter. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
| |
WOMAN
Hi, nice to meet you. I'm Megan. |
|
|
|
| |
EUGENE
Well, now that you've met your new
co-worker. You should find
something to do and stop standing
around. |
|
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
You know you are not a very
intimidating person, right? |
|
|
|
|
MEGAN laughs. |
|
|
2.
|
| |
EUGENE
Shut up and just find something to
do. |
|
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
(whispers)
Like your mom. |
|
|
|
| |
EUGENE
What did you just say? Didn't I
tell you if you said a your mother
joke again, it would be your job. |
|
|
|
| |
MEGAN
I believe he said, this job is the
bomb. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Michael walks over to the counter. |
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
My name is Micheal by the way. |
|
|
|
| |
MEGAN
I know Eugene told me already. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Micheal makes his way toward the back of the store |
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
It's a yo momma joke, anyways. |
|
|
|
| |
|
INT. STORE ROOM - DAY |
|
|
|
Micheal and Megan are both arranging boxes. |
|
|
| |
MEGAN
So are you like obsessed with
movies as much as I am. |
|
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
I don't think you can even compare
yourself with me in that area. |
|
|
|
| |
MEGAN
Oh, really. I beg to differ, but
whatever floats your boat. |
|
|
|

|
| |
MICHAEL
That's right, it does float my
boat. |
|
|
|
|
They both laugh. |
|
|
Micheal pulls a poster out of a box. He opens it up and
reveals a movie from the late fifties. Causually he rolls it
back up and places it back into the bow; and pulls out
another poster. |
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
You see this.
(Unravels poster)
I have seen pretty much every
movie we carry posters for, and
that's a lot. |
|
|
|
| |
MEGAN
What about the first one. |
|
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
What do you mean. |
|
|
|
| |
MEGAN
Why didn't you say that holding
the first one up. |
|
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
Oh, just didn't feel like it. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
OK you got me. It's not my fault I
wasn't born like sixty years ago. |
|
|
|
| |
MEGAN
I've seen that movie |
|
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
Well good for you. |
|
|
|
|
They both laugh, and smile at each other. |
|
|
| |
|
INT. MICHEALS TELIVISON ROOM - DAY |
|
|
Micheal is sitting on the couch with two his two best
friends. They are playing video games and relaxing. |
|
|

| |
MICHAEL
There was a new girl at work
today. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
Yeah but that's not important |
|
|
|
| |
ADAM
What! Yeah it is, numb nuts. |
|
|
|
| |
GREGG
I knew you were gay. |
|
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
I'm not gay you fag. |
|
|
|
|
They all laugh and continue playing the game. |
|
|
|
Micheal beats both of his friends and they get upset. |
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
Anyways, we have like everything
in common. We spent the whole day
talking. |
|
|
|
| |
GREGG
If she likes the same things as
you she has to look like and ape. |
|
|
|
| |
ADAM
Is that a racial slur. |
|
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
What, that doesn't even make
sense? Anyways, I think I'm going
to see if she wants to go out for
diner sometime. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
| |
GREGG
Good luck with that. |
|
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
Well, I don't know what could go
wrong. |
|
|
|
| |

|
INT. BOB’S ENTERTAINMENT MEMORABILIA - DAY |
|
|
The store is almost empty with customers, and Micheal and
Megan stand by a rack of CD's stocking them. |
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
So…by any chance do you want to go
get something to eat after work
today. |
|
|
|
| |
MEGAN
Yeah, I'm already hungry. Were do
you want to go. |
|
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
Anywhere is fine with me. |
|
|
|
| |
MEGAN
How about that new Chinese
restaruant. |
|
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
Hell yeah, Chinese food is my
favorite. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
| |
|
EXT. OUTSIDE CHINESE RESTRAUNT - NIGHT |
|
|
|
Micheal and Megan walk into the restraunt. |
|
|
| |
|
INT. CHINESE RESTRAUNT - NIGHT |
|
|
|
Micheal and Megan sit in the extravagant new restraunt. |
|
|
They both eat their diner's and have a good time laughing
and playing around. |
|
|
| |
|
EXT. CHINESE RESTRAUNT - NIGHT |
|
|
The doors open to the restraunt and a group of people come
out. Bringing up the end Micheal and Megan exit the
building, and break from the crowd heading their own way. |
|
|
|
They are alone walking to their cars. |
|
|
| |
MEGAN
Isnt it weird how we're like
twins. I mean we both have the
same first letter in our name and
(MORE)

MEGAN (cont'd)
everything. I mean were like the
exact person. |
|
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
Yeah it is weird. You know what
would be even more weird…if you
were like not even real. Like a
figment of my imagination. |
|
|
|
| |
MEGAN
I have to admit, that would be
pretty sweet. |
|
|
|
|
Both carry on laughing as the approach their cars. |
|
|
| |
MEGAN
We need to do this more often |
|
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
Really, that would awesome |
|
|
|
| |
MEGAN
I'll email you or something
tomorrow |
|
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
Sounds good to me. |
|
|
|
| |
|
INT. MICHAELS ROOM - NIGHT |
|
|
Micheal is alone in his room on his laptop.
He searches for split personality disorder. He clicks on a
link describing the symptoms of the disease. |
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
Depression…well I guess I could
have that. Amnesia…I do have
trouble sleeping at night. |
|
|
|
|
Micheal leans in closer to the computer |
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
Headaches or other pains…oh my
god, I think Im freaking tripping
out man. |
|
|
|
|
Micheal clicks the mouse |
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
What about Schizophrenia, what's
the symptoms for that. |
|
|
|

|
|
Michael stays up all through the night on his computer. |
|
|
| |
MICHAEL (VO)
Eugene talked to her though. But I
guess that could have just been
imagined. Have I ever seen anyone
look at her before. Man I'm losing
it. |
|
|
|
| |
|
INT. BOB’S ENTERTAINMENT STORE - DAY |
|
|
Michael walks up to Megan after helping the only customer in
the store. |
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
Hey, let's go bug Eugene. |
|
|
|
|
Megan puts down a roll of tape. |
|
|
| |
MEGAN
OK sounds like fun. |
|
|
|
Both of them walk over to the storeroom door.
Eugene walks out of it. |
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
Hey! Eugene how's it hangin. |
|
|
|
| |
MEGAN
And you know what he means by that
don't you. |
|
|
|
| |
EUGENE
That's none of your business. |
|
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
None of my business or… |
|
|
|
|
Michael looks over at Megan. |
|
|
| |
MEGAN
OH…so am I not here or something |
|
|
|
| |
EUGENE
You kids need to find something to
do, before I fire you for creeping
me out. |
|
|
|
| |
MEGAN
Sounds like a plan. |
|
|
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Eugene walks back into the store room slowly. |
|
|
|
Michael and Megan both laugh and carry on working. |
|
|
| |
MICHAEL
(whispers)
Well that solves that problem, now
I know I'm not crazy. |
|
|
|
| |
|
EXT. OUTSIDE MALL - DAY |
|
|
Michael gets out of his car. Spinning his keys on his
finger. |
|
|
|
He shuts the door to his car. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Michael continues happily into the mall. |
|
|
| |
|
INT. BOB’S ENTERTAINMENT MEMORABILIA - DAY |
|
|
Michael walks up to the opening of the store, and stands
there. |
|
|
Eugene and Megan are in the same places they were the first
day he met Megan. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
No one responds. |
|
|
We change to Megan's P.O.V. and glance over to where Micheal
was standing. He is no longer there. |
|
|
We then change to Eugene's P.O.V. as he glance over and
looks at both Michael and Megan. |
|
|
9.
|
BANG. A shot rings out through the mall. A man dressed in a
black trench coat walks by the store opening. He raises his
gun. |
|
|
| |
|
INT. HOSPITAL - DAY |
|
|
The noise of life support machines can be heard as we watch
an all white screen. |
|
|
Slowly the room comes into focus, and a hospital room can be
made out. |
|
|
| |
WOMAN
You're awake, I knew you would
someday. |
|
|
|
We look down to see an older person's arms, lying across a
plump stomach. One hand is raised and looked at curiously. |
|
|
| |
WOMAN
What are you doing Eugene. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The woman is immediately overcome with sadness. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
| |
WOMAN
He's…he's dead honey. So is Megan,
they passed during the shooting. |
|
|
|
We look at Eugene in his hospital bed with his head wrapped
in gauze and a blank confused face |
|
|
| |
WOMAN
Poor girl. Her first day of work,
and Micheal always was your
favorite. |
|
|
|
FADE OUT. |

| I liked the idea, but I got really confused around the middle to the end. The ending was really unexpected, which I liked but it didn't seem to fit in with the story. |

| It made little sense. I really didn't understand what was going on. Also, please remember that there is something called a 'question mark', that normally comes after a question. You might want to try using it once in a while. |

| It was a really interesting concept. The end was really great because it was totally unexpected. But the ending was very confusing. The script needs more work. It should be a lot longer. You need alot more time to develop the characters and ideas. It is really unrealistic that a guy would think he has something wrong with him after only a few days of meeting a girl who is very similar to him. It is a good first attempt but there is no such thing as a perfect script in the first try. Your always going to need to revise and re-edit till you reach perfection. |
