FADE IN:

EXT. MANHATTAN SKYLINE - NIGHT

The city glows from all the lit up buildings. Activity is
apparent in the streets and on the sidewalks.

Just another night in the city that never sleeps.

EXT. 5TH AVENUE TOWNHOUSE - NIGHT

It is an elegant building, that would never house anyone
under a six digit paycheck.

On the second floor the lights shine bright.

A family is sitting down at a dinning room table, "enjoying"
desert.

INT. 5TH AVENUE TOWNHOUSE - DINNING ROOM - NIGHT

The room is equally, if not more, elegant than the outside.
It is heavily decorated in expensive panting and tapestries
and shelves full of crystal.

At the end of the long mahogany table sits WILLIAM GUEST.
William is a man in his late 40's, but is in top physical
shape. He has a strong imposing demeanor, just right for
those who dominate Wall Street.

On his left sits his wife AUBREY GUST. She is also in her
late 40's. From her looks, she can come across as snobby,
but perhaps that's because she is.

Sitting at the far end of the table across from William,
sits their daughter VICTORIA GUEST. Victoria stares down her
parents as she eats her desert. She is 17 and rebellious,
with a knack for hating her parents.

William eyes Victoria's glare.

                       WILLIAM
Be angry all you want it won't
change my mind. So I suggest you
learn to deal with it.

                       VICTORIA
This is so unfair.

2.

                       WILLIAM
I'm you parent and I will make the
decisions for you, the ones I
believe will be most beneficial.

                       VICTORIA
Bull. You and mom just want to
make my life hell.

                       WILLIAM
It has nothing to do with making
your life harder, quite the
opposite. It is to give you a
better life.

                       VICTORIA
Well face it dad, I'm not going to
do better than this. I'm never
going to be successful on Wall
Street, or a fancy big name
defense lawyer.

                       WILLIAM
It's better to strive for those
things than to be a...a--

                       VICTORIA
A what?

                       AUBREY
A starving artist. You have always
had things handed to you, and
there is no way you'd be ready to
face the real world. You goals in
life are so unrealistic.

                       VICTORIA
So what, they are mine.

                       AUBREY
No, see that's the thing, your
future plans are not yours, they
are ours. And you are going to
graduate with honors this year,
and you will be attending Columbia
next fall with the major that you
select from the ones your father
and I have all ready deemed
appropriated and acceptable for
you.

                       VICTORIA
And those are.

3.

                       AUBREY
Anything doing with international
business, law, politics, and
medicine.

                       VICTORIA
Nope, not happening.

                       AUBREY
Believe it or not, yes it is.

                       VICTORIA
I will make my own decisions and
plan my own life, and the first
thing I'm going to do is cut both
of you out of it.

                       WILLIAM
No you will not, and as far as I'm
concerned, this conversation is
over. You will be doing what your
mother said we've planed for you
to do, no questions asked.

                       VICTORIA
Listen to me and listen to me
good, I will not do any of that
and there is nothing either of you
could do about it.

Victoria storms away from the table, and out of the room.

                       WILLIAM
I'm done with that girl Aubry.

                       AUBREY
Me too. Let her think what ever
she wants.

INT. 5TH AVENUE TOWNHOUSE - VICTORIA'S BEDROOM - NIGHT

Her bedroom is filled with movie posters and posters for
rock bands. She grabs her suitcase off her bed and looks
quickly around her room.

                       VICTORIA
      (whispering to
       herself)
So long.

Suddenly a door at the far end of the hall begins to open.
She quick flings the door open and rushes out quietly

                       VICTORIA
      (Into the
       cellphone)
Hello Ray...I'm at the spot.

She nods

                       VICTORIA
      (Into the phone)
Fifteen? Ok...But hurry.

She closes the phone and zips up her jacket she looks around
at all the buildings and lights.

                       VICTORIA
      (Whispering to
       herself)

                       VICTORIA
Tell everyone I said bye and that

                       VICTORIA
Don't worry, I will... Damn, I

                       VICTORIA
Yeah, can you believe I actually
did it.

                       MANDY
What did you do, and how did you
know I would be up this early?

                       VICTORIA
Mandy, Hello. It's six-thirty on a
Wednesday, you always take forever
to get ready.

                       MANDY
Ok, you got me there. But you
still didn't answer my other
question, What did you do?

                       VICTORIA
I got on a plane last night and
now I'm in L.A.

                       MANDY
Oh my god. You actually did it
this time. I mean you never
followed through with the plans.
What made you do it this time?

                       VICTORIA
My parents basically told me last
night that I was going to have my
future planed for me by them, so I
got up and left.

                       MANDY
      (Smiling)
So how is it out there?

8.

                       VICTORIA
Amazing. I never got why my parent
never wanted to vacation on the
west coast. I mean we've been to
Europe and Asia and South America,
but never to California. How weird
is that.

                       MANDY
Very. My family almost never goes
on vacation and even we went there
when I was ten to visit Disney
Land.

                       VICTORIA
God, I know.

                       MANDY
I wonder what your parents are
going to do?

                       VICTORIA
They are probably just finding out
I'm gone now, but they will
probably have the CIA hunting for
me. Frankly I don't care.

                       MANDY
Damn, I have to go.

the details.

Will do.

                       MANDY

A lead officer steps forward, this is Detective ROB ERHARD.

                       ERHARD
She hasn't been missing for
twenty-four hours yet, technically
you have to wait.

                       WILLIAM
The hell we do! We want our
daughter and we want her now.

                       ERHARD
Well, we'll try our best.

                       WILLIAM
We know where she went officer.

                       ERHARD
Yeah, and where's that.

                       AUBREY
Los Angeles.

                       ERHARD
Well we can check the airport
records.

                       AUBREY
Just you track her down.

                       ERHARD
Yeah, we can try. But we need some
information.

looking around.

                       DAVE

                       VICTORIA
      (angered)
You got me there.

Victoria looks into Dave's face.

                       VICTORIA
      (softening)
But I take it you are.

                       DAVE
Guilty...So where are you from?

                       VICTORIA
New York.

                       DAVE
Do you need help...finding
somewhere?

                       VICTORIA
Actually...Yes. Do you know the
way to Rodeo Drive?

                       DAVE
As a matter of fact, yes.

11.

                       VICTORIA
Great. Can I get the directions
off of you?

                       DAVE
Do you want a ride there?

                       VICTORIA
Nah, I don't want to interrupt
whatever you were doing.

                       DAVE
      (laughing)
Your not interrupting anything,
but me skipping school.

                       VICTORIA
School blows.

                       DAVE
Tell me about it...So what about
that ride?

                       VICTORIA
You know what, sure -- Ohh My name
is Victoria, but you can call me
Vic.

She puts her hand out.

                       DAVE
Dave.

Shaking her hand before releasing.

                       DAVE
Yeah, unfortunately.

                       VICTORIA
What does that mean?

                       DAVE
Say you'll go to lunch with me and
I'll tell you.

                       VICTORIA
I don't know. Can you handle an
afternoon of shopping with me?

                       DAVE
If I say yes, will you?

                       VICTORIA
Answer and find out.

                       DAVE
      (uncertain)
Yes?

                       VICTORIA
Yes.

                       DAVE
Than it's a date.

Dave smiles as he steps on the gas a little harder

                       VICTORIA
I love that store.

Dave just stares. She puts her hand out in front of his
face.

13.

                       VICTORIA
Come on, you can not tell me that
that is not the most beautiful
bracelet and ring you have ever
seen.

Dave sighs.

                       DAVE
It is very pretty...Do you want to
go get that food now?

                       VICTORIA
Yeah.

Victoria picks up her bags and they begin walking, but
Victoria stops.

                       VICTORIA
Can we stick this in your car
first?

                       DAVE

                       VICTORIA
This is really great Dave, Thank
You.

                       DAVE
It's no problem.

                       VICTORIA
Not a lot of people would've
stopped and helped me out the way
you did.

                       DAVE
It's no big deal. If anything, I
should thank you for the--

There is a loud ROAR of a crowd. Victoria and Dave look
towards the entrance.

There is a mob of paparazzi snapping pictures of a

14.

celebrity, that cannot be seen, through the dense crowd.

All at once the CLICKING of pictures and the YELLING of the
paparazzi stops and the crowd disperses.

The celebrity is gone.

                       VICTORIA
Wow.

                       DAVE
Yeah, it was probably Lindsey
Lohan.

                       VICTORIA
Out of rehab already?

They both laugh.

                       DAVE
I Don't see why they even bother
with her.

                       VICTORIA
I couldn't agree more.

They both laugh.

                       VICTORIA
What were you saying?

                       DAVE
How I should thank you for such a
great afternoon.

                       VICTORIA
Ohh stop it.

Victoria puts on a flirting smile. Dave smiles back.

                       DAVE
Do you want me to take you back to
the hotel?

                       VICTORIA
Sure.

Victoria gets out of the and goes to the trunk, and begins
to grab the bags.

                       DAVE (O.S.)
Hey Vic?

                       VICTORIA
Yeah.

                       DAVE (O.S.)
I know that you were going to go
upstairs and rest, but...I was
wondering if you wanted to go to
the beach.

Victoria smiles as she shuts the trunk.

                       VICTORIA
Yes, I would love to go to the
beach.

                       DAVE (O.S.)
Well run that stuff up to your
room.

Victoria walks over to the front door.

INT. ARGYLE HOTEL - LOBBY - DAY

The lobby is extraordinary and extravagant.

Victoria makes her way across the Lobby, as she passes the
front desk, the DESK CLERK steps out.

                       DESK CLERK
Hold on! Could you just wait here
for a minute.

Victoria is taken back and her face illustrates her
confusion.

                       VICTORIA
Okay.

The Desk Clerk walks down a hallway.

A few moments latter the sound of FOOTSTEPS and MUFFLED
VOICES come from the hallway.

VICTORIA

looks towards the hallway, and sees the shadow of the Desk

16.

Clerk and a few police officers.

Victoria gasps.

THE DESK CLERK

rounds the conner, with two police officers in tow.

                       DESK CLERK
I'm really sorry for--

The Desk Clerks mouth drops.

Victoria is gone, the lobby is empty.

                       DESK CLERK
She was here just a second ago.
Damn! She must be outside, she
couldn't have gone far.

EXT. ARGYLE HOTEL - DAY

Dave is waiting patiently next to his car, as Victoria,
comes flying out of the hotel.

                       DAVE
Whoa, what's--

Victoria throws her bags in the back of of Dave's car.

                       VICTORIA
Get in now!

Dave gets in the car, at the same time Victoria does.

                       DAVE
What's going on?

                       VICTORIA
Just drive!

Dave takes off.

Moments later the POLICE OFFICERS run outside followed by
the Desk Clerk.

There is no one in sight.

                       POLICE OFFICER
      (to the desk clerk)
You sure she was alone and on
foot?

17.

The Desk Clerk nods.

                       DESK CLERK
Positive.

EXT. HIGHWAY - DAY

The highway is fairly empty. Dave's car speeds down the
road.

INT. EXT. DAVE'S SPORTS CAR - DAY

Dave turns to Victoria.

                       DAVE
What's going on.

                       VICTORIA
It's a lon--

                       DAVE
No! Tell me the truth, why are the
cops after you?

Dave pulls over.

                       DAVE
Well, start that long story.

                       VICTORIA
Have you ever heard of a man named
William Guest?

                       DAVE
Yeah, he's some super rich
financial guy.

                       VICTORIA
Well that's my dad, and last night
I ran away from home. Now he
probably has every officer from
here to New York looking for me.

                       DAVE
Well how did they know to look for
you there?

Victoria reaches in her handbag, and retrieves a credit
card.

18.

                       VICTORIA
Because of this...I'm not going
back.

Dave takes a deep breath.

                       VICTORIA
Beach?

Dave smiles.

                       DAVE
Sure. God your killing me...Now
I'm on the run too.

The car moves out on to the highway.

EXT. WOODS - DAY

The woods are full of tropical looking plants. The sun is
setting in the distances.

Victoria and Dave make their way through the woods.

                       VICTORIA
I thought we were going to beach,
not for a hike.

                       DAVE
Here's a towel. And we are going
to the beach.

He hands her a towel, just as they make their way out of the
woods and onto a...

INT. BEACH - DAY

The beach is a beautiful secluded beach. The water is a
crystal blue and the sand a perfect white.

Victoria stops in her tracks, and her mouth drops at the
sight.

Dave notices and smiles.

                       DAVE
I told you we were going to the
beach.

                       VICTORIA
Yeah, no kidding.

19.

Victoria drops her towel and looks over at Dave.

                       VICTORIA
Race ya.

She suddenly takes off towards the water. Dave lagging
behind.

Victoria dive into the water, and Dave follows.

They splash around, enjoying the pacific.

INT. 5TH AVENUE TOWNHOUSE - OFFICE - NIGHT

William, Aubrey, and Detective Erhard are sitting in the
plush office.

Erhard hands William some papers, but Aubrey snatches them
out of his hands.

                       ERHARD
As you can see, we picked her up
in two locations, the Argyle Hotel
and Rodeo Drive.

                       AUBREY
And you couldn't find her?

                       ERHARD
Actually, she evaded quite a few
L.A.P.D. officers at the hotel.
She is a smart and determined
girl.

                       AUBREY
Who needs to come home.

                       ERHARD
Look they are--

                       AUBREY
Trying! Yes, we've herd this
already. I don't want them to try,
I want them to do. I want them to
succeed. My daughter--

                       ERHARD
Will come home. You're not the
only one that is tired of the
repetition.

Erhard stands.

20.

                       ERHARD
Now I believe I understand why
your daughter left...We'll be in
touch.

                       AUBREY
Well, you know what if you worked
harder than I wouldn't have to
repeat myself.

Aubrey stands as he walks for the doorway.

                       AUBREY
Detective, that is unnecessary,
you have already proven your
incompetence. We no longer need
you or any other officer's help. I
will find her myself.

                       ERHARD
Well good luck with that, ma'am.
If I were her I would have left a
long time ago, and I would rather
kill myself than return here.

He walk out of the room shutting the door behind him.

Aubrey is furious, she hurls a paperweight form the desk at
the door.

                       AUBREY
      (to William)
Why didn't you say anything?

                       WILLIAM
Because I rather you dig your own
grave. And trust me you do a
mighty fine job of it.

                       AUBREY
Don't you dare!

                       WILLIAM
For god sakes! They only looked
one day. One damn day, before you
dismissed them. We needed the
police, but you went and screwed
it up.

                       AUBREY
William, shut up.

21.

                       WILLIAM
No Aubrey!

William laughs as he paces the room.

                       AUBREY
      (Aggravated)
What!?

                       WILLIAM
At first, I really thought I was
the reason she left, but now I'm
starting to think otherwise.

                       AUBREY
Don't even tell me you agree with
that bastard!

                       WILLIAM
I don't need to, because obviously
by your reaction, you do. And if
you agree with him, than I have no
other option than follow in suite.

                       AUBREY
I'm going to find her, whether you
help me or not.

William just shrugs and walks out of the room.

EXT. BEACH - NIGHT

The sky is a deep blue, that stands strong over the calm
pacific water. The beach is still and empty, except for
Victoria and Dave, who are sprawled out on their towels.

                       VICTORIA
This place is beautiful.

                       DAVE
Yeah, it a secret local spot. A
beach away form the celebrities
and tourists.

                       VICTORIA
Must get annoying...the tourists
and celebrities.

                       DAVE
I've gotten use to it.

Dave looks up at the sky.

22.

                       DAVE
Can ask you something?

                       VICTORIA
Yeah, sure.

                       DAVE
Why did leave...you know runaway?

                       VICTORIA
My parents have always wanted me
to be this great big honor student
that went on to be the next big
doctor, business executive,
lawyer, you know really
successful.

She laughs.

                       VICTORIA
But I'm not like that. I'm a
partier. I like have fun, and a
few years ago I decided what I
wanted to do with my life...I want
to be an actress. They couldn't
except that, and the longer I
stayed there, the more they could
control me.

                       DAVE
You know that acting is a hard
business. I can take you down to
Hollywood Boulevard, and point out
the forty year old waiters and
waitresses that have been here for
nearly twenty years waiting for
their big break. The closest thing
they got was a toothpaste
commercial and an extra spot in a
blockbuster, where they payed them
with lunch, not money.

                       VICTORIA
Look, you don't have to drill me
too. I know all this. And I
willing to work for it.

                       DAVE
Sorry, that was uncalled for.

                       VICTORIA
Don't apologize.

23.

Victoria looks up at the sky.

                       VICTORIA
So, what school do you go too?

                       DAVE
Harvard-Westlake.

                       VICTORIA
Private?

                       DAVE
Yeah, what kind of school did you
go to.

                       VICTORIA
Boarding. I was home for
Thanksgiving.

                       DAVE
But thats not for another two
weeks.

                       VICTORIA
We get a lot of time off. Is your
school expensive?

                       DAVE
Not really, it's like thirty
thousand a year.

                       VICTORIA
That's pretty good.

                       DAVE
Why?

                       VICTORIA
I want to be an actress, but I'm
not dumb. I want to finish school,
and go to collage as a back-up
plan.

                       DAVE
I can get you registration papers,
and if your lucky, you'll be
accepted and ready by Monday.

                       VICTORIA
That quick?

24.

                       DAVE
Flash your money in front of their
face and it may even be quicker.

                       VICTORIA
Deal.

                       DAVE
You need a place to stay?

                       VICTORIA
Yeah.

                       DAVE
My parents are away until
Thursday.

                       VICTORIA
Sounds good to me.

EXT. DAVE'S BEVERLY HILLS HOUSE - NIGHT

Dave's house is impressive. It is rather large and elegant
looking.

Dave's car pulls up in the driveway.

Victoria and Dave step out of the car. The go to the trunk
and grab Victoria's bags, before walking up to the front
door.

INT. DAVE'S HOUSE - FOYER - NIGHT

The room is very white, yet decorated nicely. Very classy.
Dave moves for the stairs.

                       DAVE
My rooms up here.

                       VICTORIA
You have a nice house.

                       DAVE
Yeah, kinda.

The both walk up the stairs.

25.

INT. DAVE'S ROOM - NIGHT

His room is full of posters for rock bands. His room does
not match the feeling of the rest of the house.

His walls are a dark red, and everything else follows this
dark theme.

The door opens and Dave and Victoria step in.

                       VICTORIA
Wow, I like it in here.

                       DAVE
      (jokingly)
Well, I try my best

Victoria drops her bags and throws herself on Dave's bed.

                       VICTORIA
Oooh, I like this too.

She turns toward the window.

                       VICTORIA
Pool?

                       DAVE
Yeah.

                       VICTORIA
Your house just keeps getting
better.

                       DAVE
So how was this for your first day
in L.A.?

                       VICTORIA
A little crazy, but totally worth
it!

INT. DAVE'S ROOM - DAY

Dave is sprawled out on his bed. The clock on his nightstand
reads 11:43

His door silently opens and someone walks in, and makes
their way around the side of his bed, to his window, where
they...

Pull back the shade. Sunlight shines directly on Dave's

26.

face, causing to open his eyes.

He pops up in bed.

Victoria is standing next to the window.

                       VICTORIA
Glad to see you're finally awake.

                       DAVE
A little shake would of worked.

                       VICTORIA
Yeah, I guess. Come on were going
out.

                       DAVE
But I have school, and I need to
pick up those forms for you.

                       VICTORIA
For one you can go to school
tomorrow, and for two I registered
online. It's almost noon, I'm
pretty sure school started
already.

Dave lays back down, covering his face with a pillow.

EXT. DAVE'S HOUSE - DAY

Dave walks out of his house and walks up to Victoria, who is
standing in the driveway.

Dave is yawning, when his eyes fly open.

DAVE

is staring a hot pink lavish sports car, parked next to his
in the driveway.

                       DAVE
Wa--

                       VICTORIA
Bought it this morning.

                       DAVE
How?

                       VICTORIA
My moms credit card.

27.

                       DAVE
But those things have limits.

                       VICTORIA
Not, really...

                       DAVE
What do you mean?

                       VICTORIA
My mother use to go on these
designer jewelry shopping sprees.
I mean three hundred grand, in one
day. So the credit car company
kept calling her, you know to
verify that it was her spending
the money...

She chuckles.

                       VICTORIA
So she got so mad that she said to
the guy...I'll upgrade to a V.I.P.
member, if you stop calling me
every time I spend money. They
never called again.

She walks over to her car and gets in.

                       VICTORIA
So you see, it's her fault.

                       DAVE
So I take it that's how you payed
for school.

                       VICTORIA
No, they could track me down that
way...I used her bankcard to
withdraw some money...You were
right about the flashing your
money, get in thing.

                       DAVE
You amaze me. You know that?

                       VICTORIA
I try my best. Get in.

Dave gets in her car.

They pull out of the driveway.

28.

MONTAGE

EXT. BEACH - DAY

The beach is full of beautiful people, wearing practically
nothing. The beach is so crowded only small patches of sand
are visible, the rest covered by people and beach towels.

Victoria and Dave are laughing as they play a game of
volleyball. Victoria spikes the ball straight at Dave
causing him to fall. They laugh.

EXT. PARK - DAY

People are jogging and walking down the bench and tree lined
paths.

Victoria and Dave stop at a cart selling ice cream.

EXT. HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD - NIGHT

Victoria and Dave make their way down the sidewalk, until
they come up to a famous restaurant.

END OF MONTAGE

INT. HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD RESTAURANT - NIGHT

Vitoria and Dave sit at a table in the far corner, near a
window overlooking the outside terrace.

                       DAVE
Aren't you worried?

                       VICTORIA
About what?

                       DAVE
Being caught. By the police, that
is.

                       VICTORIA
No, not really. If they do, I
swear the whole way back will be
hell for them. Kicking, screaming,
the whole nine yards.

                       DAVE
Somehow that doesn't surprise me.

29.

Victoria shrugs.

                       VICTORIA
That's not to common, not
surprising someone. It's what I'm
usually good at.

                       DAVE
Well, I guess those people really
didn't know you.

Victoria shakes her head.

                       VICTORIA
No. No they didn't.

Everything is silent. Only a slight mummer from the other
people in the restaurant.

                       DAVE
You're going to hate school.

                       VICTORIA
Oh yeah, why?

Dave shrugs

                       DAVE
I don't know, you just are.

                       VICTORIA
That's a great reason.

                       DAVE
It's just...It's school, do I have
to explain?

                       VICTORIA
No.

                       DAVE
See.

                       VICTORIA
Sometimes it's nice to know why.
All I ever get is "just because."
It gets repetitious and
frustrating.

                       DAVE
I understand.

30.

                       VICTORIA
Somewhat.

                       DAVE
What's that suppose to mean?

                       VICTORIA
You didn't meet my family.

Dave thinks for a minute.

                       DAVE
Okay, you got me there.

                       VICTORIA
Let's just talk about something
else. They're getting repetitious
and frustrating...just to think
about.

INT. 5TH AVENUE TOWNHOUSE OFFICE - DAY

William is behind his desk, typing away on the computer.

CLICK CLICK CLICK...He types away.

On the screen, his wife's spending history is displayed.

He is writing things down, he is balancing her checkbook. He
CLICKS a few more time, before his eyes notice something.

SCREEN: 60,000.00 Beverly Hills, CA

Suddenly the door opens, and Aubrey strolls in. William tuns
off the monitor.

                       AUBREY
William, dear. Have you seen my
Centurion card?

                       WILLIAM
No.

                       AUBREY
I must have misplaced it. I'll
just call them up and have the
card deactivated.

                       WILLIAM
No!

31.

                       AUBREY
Why?

                       WILLIAM
Well...you just lost it, why don't
you try looking first. You would
save a lot of time.

                       AUBREY
No I wouldn't.

                       WILLIAM
Look, it's probably just mixed in
with my cards.

                       AUBREY
Where are those?

                       WILLIAM
At work, I was balancing your
checkbook.

                       AUBREY
Isn't that what our accountant is
for?

                       WILLIAM
Honey, you fired him.

Aubrey thinks for a minute, before she remembers.

                       AUBREY
Oh, yes. He was an incompetent ass
anyway.

                       WILLIAM
He was pointless. I'm good with
money.

                       AUBREY
Not lately.

Aubrey turns to go.

                       AUBREY
You don't think she took it, do
you?

                       WILLIAM
No.

                       AUBREY
Yeah, I didn't think so either.

32.

She walks out.

William tuns back on the screen, while picking up his
cellphone.

EXT. HARVARD-WESTLAKE - PARKING LOT - DAY

Students hangout on each other's cars, laughing, enjoying
themselves.

A car speeds into the parking lot, SCREECHING to a halt in
an empty spot.

The door opens and a pair of perfect legs pop out, attached
to those legs is...Victoria's perfectly styled frame. Her
hair, make up, clothes, perfect.

She closes her door, all eyes are on her. The guys drool as
the girls gawk. Dave pulls in next to her. He gets out, as
Victoria surveys her soundings.

                       VICTORIA
What took you so long?

Dave just laughs.

                       DAVE
You're insane!

                       VICTORIA
I try.

Dave notices the crowd.

                       DAVE
Drawing attention already.

                       VICTORIA
I like to be the center of
attention.

                       DAVE
Well you made a hell of a first
impression.

                       VICTORIA
Oh no, that wasn't an impression.
That was just an entrance.

                       DAVE
Well, whatever it's called it was
great.

33.

                       VICTORIA
And it's only getting better.

Victoria looks at the crowd.

                       VICTORIA
So who's who?

INT. PHYSICS CLASSROOM - DAY

The classroom is a fully functional lab, full of "excited"
students.

MR. GREENE walks in.

                       MR. GREEN
Good morning students.

No one answers.

                       MR. GREEN
I see we're all lively this
morning. I trust you all did your
homework.

GROANS erupt from the class.

                       MR. GREEN
Guess not.

He turns around and writes something on the board.

                       MR. GREEN
Well it looks like we will have to
take extra notes today, since no
one felt the homework was
important.

He writes a few more notes.

                       MR. GREEN
It's your grade not mine...Mr.
Simms and Mr. Andrews, please stop
talking.

Sure enough CHRISTOPHER ANDREWS and RODGER SIMMS sit huddled
in the back.

                       CHRIS
      (whispering)
My parents pay his salary.

34.

Rodger laughs. Mr. Green turns around, done with his notes.

                       MR. GREEN
Yes Chris, they do. And I do what
they pay me for, to educate you
fine leaders of tomorrow. Emphasis
on leaders.

                       CHRIS
Are--

                       MR. GREEN
Yes, that was sarcasm. Now copy
the notes.

The door opens, and Victoria Dave walk in.

                       DAVE
Sorry Mr. Greene, I had to show
Victoria around. It's her first
day.

Mr. Greene nods.

                       MR. GREEN
I understand.

He turns to Victoria.

                       MR. GREEN
I'm surprised Mr. King didn't warn
you, I'm the devil.

Victoria laughs.

                       VICTORIA
I guess he forgot to mention that.

                       MR. GREEN
Well, you two should take a seat
and start with the notes.

Dave starts towards an empty table in the far corner, but
Victoria steers him towards a different table.

CATHERINE TOWNSEND and RICHARD URINE sit at the table. They
are obviously popular, not the mot popular, but up there.
The stare Dave down as he sits down embarrassed at their
table.

                       VICTORIA
Hi, I'm Victoria.

35.

Catherine and Richard are taken back by Victoria, but in a
good way.

                       CATHERINE
      (smiling)
Catherine.

                       RICHARD
Richard.

                       CATHERINE
You new here?

                       VICTORIA
Yeah.

                       RICHARD
Your beautiful.

Victoria laughs.

                       VICTORIA
Thank you.

                       CATHERINE
Don't drool, Dick.

                       RICHARD
It's Richard, and I'm not...I was
admiring.

                       VICTORIA
This is Dave.

                       CATHERINE
We know.

                       VICTORIA
So, do you guys have any plans for
lunch?

EXT. HIGHWAY - DAY

Victoria's car speeds down the highway.

EXT. PINKBERRY - DAY

Victoria, Dave, Cathrine, and Richard sit at a table in
front of the store.

They are all eating.

36.

                       VICTORIA
So, have you guys always lived
here?

                       CATHERINE
Sadly, yes.

                       VICTORIA
Why is that sad?

                       CATHERINE
I don't know. I want to travel,
you know just get away.

                       VICTORIA
Yeah, I do.

                       RICHARD
Yeah, I've always lived here,
always went to school here. I just
can't wait to graduate.

                       DAVE
Me either.

                       VICTORIA
I think real people can't wait for
endings. Everyone who doesn't
lives in a dream world.

                       DAVE
What do you mean?

                       VICTORIA
Look at high school. People like
us, can't wait for it to end
because we know the world is
waiting for us. But people who
want to live in the dream world,
who don't want to take risks or
make new friends, want high school
to last forever.

                       CATHERINE AND RICHARD
      (at the same time)
Valerie!

Dave laughs.

                       VICTORIA
What?

37.

                       RICHARD
Valerie, she is the "queen" of the
school.

                       CATHERINE
She use to be my best friend, but
that ended last year. Ever since
we've been competing for
popularity.

                       RICHARD
She's winning.

                       DAVE
We're going to have gym with her.

                       VICTORIA
Good.

                       CATHERINE
Why?

                       VICTORIA
I'm going to giver her a run for
her money.

                       CATHERINE
Your playing with fire there. She
can ruin your social life.

                       VICTORIA
I've dealt with worse. I can
handle her.

                       CATHERINE
You have gym with us!

Richard's cellphone rings. He looks checks it.

                       RICHARD
Damn.

                       CATHERINE
What?

                       RICHARD
It's Carly.

                       CATHERINE
Send her to voice mail.

Victoria looks confused. Dave leans over to Victoria.

38.

                       DAVE
      (whispering)
Richard's ex. She's Val's best
friend.

Victoria nods.

                       CATHERINE
We have head back, or going to be
late.

                       VICTORIA
To the car.

INT. 5TH AVENUE TOWNHOUSE - HALLWAY - DAY

Aubry walks into the hallway.

                       WILLIAM
Aubry.

She turns around.

                       AUBREY
Yeah?

                       WILLIAM
I found your card.

                       AUBREY
Where was it?

                       WILLIAM
With mine at work, just like I
said.

                       AUBREY
Oh. Tomorrow I'm going to talk to
a private investigator. We have to
find her Will.

                       WILLIAM
I know, but that's just going to
be a wast of money and time.

                       AUBREY
Well, what are we suppose to do?

                       WILLIAM
We would have had people looking
for her if you hadn't--

39.

                       AUBREY
Will, don't--

                       WILLIAM
Yes, you need to be put in your
place for once. We would have had
the police on her, but your short
temper ruined that. Sometimes
cause more problems than you fix.

                       AUBREY
I'm going out. I'll see you later.

                       WILLIAM
Have fun.

                       AUBREY
I will.

She grabs her jacket out of the closet, and walks out the
door.

INT. GIRLS LOCKER ROOM - DAY

All the girls are in the process of changing for class.

Catherine and Victoria are standing at the far end talking.

                       CATHERINE
The girl over there in the gray
shorts and white tank top, with
the attention all on her. That's
Valerie.

Victoria looks over at her.

                       VICTORIA
Watch this.

                       CATHERINE
What are you doing?

Victoria walks up to the group of girls surrounding Valerie.

                       VICTORIA
Hey you guys. I'm new here.

The girls all turn their focus to Victoria.

                       VICTORIA
I need a little help with my
locker. I can't open it and I
forgot to grab something out of
            (MORE)

40.

                       VICTORIA (cont'd)
it.

                       VALERIE
Aw. Too bad.

                       VICTORIA
Yeah, your right.

She turns around to walk away, but she calls over her
shoulder.

                       VICTORIA
Oh, by the way, you have lipstick
on your teeth.

The girls all laugh.

                       VALERIE
Shut up!

She look in a mirror, cleaning her teeth.

                       VALERIE
Why didn't you tell me.

EXT. FIELD - DAY

Kids are playing different games, some run the track, others
play football.

Victoria, Catherine, Richard, and Dave all play soccer in a
large group.

Victoria has all the football players attention, as she
plays.

She and Valerie are going head to head. Valerie struggles to
get the ball past Victoria. Victoria suddenly kicks out for
the ball, tripping Valerie.

Valerie falls, and Victoria makes a goal.

                       VICTORIA
      (to valerie)
Ops, too bad.

All the guys who were playing football, laugh. One of them,
BRAD calls out.

41.

                       BRAD
      (to Victoria)
Hey, you play pretty good.

                       VICTORIA
That's not the only thing I'm good
at.

                       BRAD
      (to Valerie)
Looks like you met your match Val.

                       VALERIE
Shut up Brad.

                       VICTORIA
Someone's a sore loser.

                       VALERIE
Go to hell.

Valerie turns and starts walking away.

                       VICTORIA
Hey!

                       VALERIE
What!?

                       VICTORIA
You don't have to be such a bitch.

Valerie stampers off. Everyone claps for Victoria.

                       CATHERINE
Wow, that was hilarious.

                       RICHARD
I don't think anyone has ever been
able to do that before.

                       DAVE
Well, Vic here isn't just anyone.

                       VICTORIA
No I'm not.

Everyone starts to clear off the field. Victoria smiles.

                       VICTORIA
      (to herself)
I'm going to rule this place.

INT. STORE (PARK AVENUE) - NIGHT

Aubrey looks around the store. LISA (45) and CLAIRE (31),
two of her friends follow close behind.

The store is very trendy and expensive. Everything Aubrey
likes

                       LISA
It's probably just a phase. When I
was her age, I hated my parents. I
use to sneak away all the time.

                       CLAIRE
She will come back eventually.

                       AUBREY
Eventually is too late. She is
ruining her future. She is
throwing it all away.

                       CLAIRE
She's a smart kid, she'll come
home.

                       LISA
She's never acted out like this
before. Kids rarely ever disappear
forever the first time they run
away. They always come back and
try again.

                       CLAIRE
She probably doesn't even know
what to do with herself out there.

Aubrey shakes her head LAUGHING.

                       AUBREY
You guys really don't know my
daughter. She is not this kind
little innocent girl, you all
think she is. She is full of
malice and angst, and she capable
of anything. She wants her father
and I to pay, and she will make us
if I don't stop her.

                       CLAIRE
Aubrey, listen to yourself! She's
just a damn kid. You make her
sound like some villain hell bent
on world domination and

                       CLAIRE (cont'd)
destruction.

                       AUBREY
She's not far off.

                       LISA
Look, she will come home.

                       AUBREY
Oh no, not home. Her ass is being
hauled back to boarding school,
where she will finish school. Then
she attend college in the fall.

                       LISA
Looks like you have everything
planed out.

                       AUBREY
I'm good at planing.

                       CLAIRE
So is Victoria, obviously.

Claire CHUCKLES.

                       AUBREY
Ha ha.

Lisa hides her laughter. Aubrey gives them a hard stare.

                       CLAIRE
Well I thought it was funny.

                       AUBREY
Well, it wasn't.

                       LISA
Cheer up, we're shopping.

Aubrey picks up a handbag.

                       CLAIRE
Ooh, that's nice.

                       LISA
It's beautiful.

Aubrey examines it.

                       AUBREY
I'll get it.

44.

                       CLAIRE
      (sarcastically)
You sound excited.

                       AUBREY
I know, isn't it great?

INT. 5TH AVENUE TOWNHOUSE - OFFICE - DAY

William is typing on the computer. He stops, looking a
picture on his desk.

It is of a young Victoria. He smiles.

He grabs a pen and quickly scribbles a note on a piece of
paper. She walks across the room and grabs his jacket,
before walking out of the room.

INT. CLASSROOM - DAY

Victoria and Catherine sit next to each other in the back of
the classroom.

                       CATHERINE
So how do you like your first day
so far?

                       VICTORIA
It's been great. It's the most fun
I've ever had at school.

Catherine LAUGHS.

                       CATHERINE
We all think the opposite.

                       VICTORIA
Well you guys have never been to
my school.

                       CATHERINE
True.

Valerie is flirting with a group of guys in the front of the
room.

                       CATHERINE
She is so annoying.

45.

                       VICTORIA
Doesn't she understand that all
they want to do is sleep with her.

                       CATHERINE
That's all she wants to do with
them too.

                       VICTORIA
Works out perfectly than.

                       CATHERINE
In all it's STD spreading glory.

Victoria turns to Catherine.

                       VICTORIA
Cat, can I ask you something?

                       CATHERINE
Sure.

                       VICTORIA
Why did you stop being friends?

                       CATHERINE
A lot reasons. We both had
dominate personalities, I wasn't
going to let her control me. We
just stopped getting along.

                       VICTORIA
Why?

                       CATHERINE
To cut to the chase, she's just a
bitch. A good for nothing piece of
trash. I liked her at one point,
but than I realized all she cared
about was herself. No one else.
That's why we aren't friends.

                       VICTORIA
Thank you.

                       CATHERINE
No need to thank me, I was just
answering your question.

                       VICTORIA
I know.

46.

                       CATHERINE
Wanna hang out after school?

                       VICTORIA
Sure, where?

Catherine shrugs.

                       CATHERINE
Where ever we want.

INT. 5TH AVENUE TOWNHOUSE - OFFICE - NIGHT

Aubrey walks in to the office. Just as she is about to walk
out, she notices the note.

She picks it up.

INSERT: I went for a walk, I'll be back.

                       AUBREY
A walk?

INT. HARVARD-WESTLAKE - PARKING LOT - DAY

Victoria, Dave, Richard, and Catherine walk towards
Victoria's car.

                       BRAD (0.S.)
Hey!

Victoria turns around. Brad is making his way towards her.

                       VICTORIA
Do I know you?

                       BRAD
Gym class?

                       VICTORIA
Yeah. Brian right?

                       BRAD
Close. It's Brad.

                       VICTORIA
I'm--

                       BRAD
Victoria.

47.

Victoria LAUGHS.

                       BRAD
Sorry about cutting you off.

                       VICTORIA
No problem.

                       BRAD
Look, I'm having this party at my
house tomorrow night. I was
wondering if you wanna come?

                       VICTORIA
Only if these...

She signals towards Dave, Richard, and Catherine.

                       VICTORIA
...sexy beasts can come too.

Brad shrugs.

                       BRAD
Sure. See you tomorrow night?

                       VICTORIA
I don't know, let me think about
it.

She turns and walks to her car. Brad walks away.

                       CATHERINE
I don't think he's ever been
turned down before.

                       VICTORIA
I didn't turn him down, I was
playing hard to get.

                       DAVE
So are you going to the party.

                       VICTORIA
Yes we all are.

Everyone looks happy except Dave.

                       VICTORIA
      (to Richard)
So you picking me and Dave up at
six?

48.

                       RICHARD
Yeah.

                       CATHERINE
See you then.

                       VICTORIA
Bye.

Catherine and Richard walk away.

                       DAVE
What are we doing?

                       VICTORIA
Don't know? Anything we want.

                       DAVE
I'm not sure if I wanna go.

                       VICTORIA
Why?

                       DAVE
Just...I don't know.

                       VICTORIA
What about the party tomorrow?

                       DAVE
Don't think so either.

                       VICTORIA
Dave, you're good looking. Why are
such a loner? You should be
enjoying yourself while you're
young.

                       DAVE
That's just not me.

                       VICTORIA
Then that definitely wasn't you I
bumped into.

                       DAVE
That was different.

                       VICTORIA
Yeah?

Dave nods.

49.

                       VICTORIA
How?

                       DAVE
You give me confidence. I don't
know why. You just do.

                       VICTORIA
Well see your attitude will change
in no time, if we keep hanging
out. You're coming tonight and
tomorrow. You'll never gain
confidence if you don't try.

Dave thinks for a minute.

                       DAVE
All right.

                       VICTORIA
See, your attitude's changing
already.

Dave laughs.

They walk to their cars, and drive off. Victoria and her
friend CARLY (17) watch from a distance.

                       VALERIE
I hate her.

                       CARLY
She doesn't seem that bad.

                       VALERIE
Shut up. I'm going to kill her
popularity, just like Catherine's.
I'm going make her transfer so
fast, her head spins.

                       CARLY
Little harsh, don't you think?

Victoria shakes her head.

                       VALERIE
Nope.

                       CARLY
So what'd gonna do?

50.

                       VALERIE
I don't know yet, but the party
will be the perfect place.

                       CARLY
Why at the party? Why not school?

                       VALERIE
School is full of useless
wannabes. The party on the other
had, is gonna be filled with
everybody who is anybody.
Embarrass her there, and she will
be shunned for life here at
school. Not even the band geeks
will want to be her friend.

                       CARLY
Sounds great, but I don't think it
will work. She's popular already,
they'll only like her more and you
less if you try anything.

                       VALERIE
What do you know? It'll work.

                       CARLY
You're right.

                       VALERIE
Always.

Valerie starts to walk away. She calls out over her
shoulder.

                       VALERIE
Don't ever doubt me again.

All the guys watch, along with Carly, as Valerie walks away.
All the guys are practically drooling. Carly shakes her
head.

INT. ERHARD'S OFFICE - NIGHT

(NOTE: From this point on, ROCKSTAR by Nickleback will play)

Erhard is busy with paper work. There is a sudden knock on
his door.

                       ERHARD
Come in.

51.

William strolls slowly in, shutting the door behind him.

                       ERHARD
Ah, Mr. Guest. How are you?

                       WILLIAM
Could be better.

He looks around the office, before taking a seat.

                       WILLIAM
Look, I wanted to say sorry, for
the way my wife acted.

                       ERHARD
You don't have, you guys are
dealing with a lot know.

William shakes his head.

                       WILLIAM
I wish that was the reason she
acted like that. But no, that's
how she always is.

                       ERHARD
It's alright.

                       WILLIAM
That's not the only reason I came.

                       ERHARD
No?

EXT. HOLLYWOOD STREET - NIGHT

The street is lit up by florescent signs and store front
lights.

It is obviously busy, and a big tourist attraction.

Richard's car drives down the street. Victoria takes in all
the sites, amazed by her surroundings.

EXT. RED CARPET EVENT - NIGHT

Celebrities shuffle out of limos, and down the red carpet.
Signing autographs, posing for pictures, having the time of
their lives.

They laugh and talk.

52.

                       WILLIAM (V.O.)
I need your help...

EXT. HOLLYWOOD - NIGHT

The whole city is lit up. Cars speed down all the streets.
Just another night in Hollywood.

                       WILLIAM (V.O.)
I just want my daughter.

INT. RICHARD'S CAR - NIGHT

Victoria's hair is being whipped around, she throws her head
back in laughter.

The stars above her head...

EXT. HOLLYWOOD - NIGHT

The HOLLYWOOD sign is lit up in the distance.

FADE OUT.

I've read the first scenes and I have to say, a great opener. The dialogue is very realistic and gets my attention quick. I look forward to reading the rest.
