SHADOWS OF FEAR

FADE IN:

EXT. SPACE - NIGHT

Intro music playing in the background. A ship comes passing
by on the screen. On the side of the ship see in faint
letters "Artemis V".

Have a far shoot of the ship flying by. Then the ship exits
and then have "Shadow of Fear" fades in on the screen. The
music dies down.

INT. ARTEMIS- CAPTAIN QOE QUARTERS - NIGHT

On screen Captain's Log: A.D 56900 17:53 Thursday, 45th
Gamiel. See Captain Que writing a log into a journal.

                       CAPTAIN QOE
      (Narrating)
Food supplies are waning. Morale
low. The crew is grawing restless,
we need to land soon.
      (Sigh)
Yesterday, Tennson got into a
fight with Greem. Greem lost a
tooth, and Tennson is confined to
quarters. Mars definitly is not
getting any closer. The ship seems
to be barely moving, but the
droids assure me that we're making
progress. Can you really argue
with a computer? I hear a noise
below ship- I'd better check it
out soon.

Capt. Qoe

EXT. SPACE - NIGHT

Then the screen goes blank for a second.

Then see a glance of the SS Cobra. On the bottom of the
screen see the words "A.D 56913 16:37 Monday, 27th Gamiel".

2.

INT. SS COBRA- SIEGFROD QUARTERS - NIGHT

Then you see Siegfrod reading the log slowly. He puts the
journal down.

                       JOP
      (entering)
Looking over that thing again,
huh?

Siegfrod goes back to his reading.

                       JOP
How's that really going to help,
Sieg?

                       SIEGFROD
      (Sighs)

                       JOP
See Sieg, you have to live in the
presant. Just thinking about your
past will just mess with you.

                       SIEGFROD
I don't know. He is my brother and
still the case isn't closed, yet.
      (Sighs)
We still have no idea what
happened to Greem or the rest of
the crew. That's why we're on the
mission, right?

                       JOP
      (Smacks his head
       in mock suprise)
Jesus! So that's why we're on this
crazy five year mission! I had
completely forgot!
      (Smiles)

                       SIEGFROD
      (Smiles too)
Actually with relativity, it's
only four and a half years.

                       JOP
Yep! When we get home, our friends
will all be old men and we'll
still be in our prime.
      (Smirks)
Well, I'm heading back to the
bridge.
      (Starts walking to

       stops)
And try not to keep reading that
journal.

                       SIEGFROD
That might be hard.

                       JOP
      (Smiles, then
       turns away to
       exit)

Siegfrod goes back to reading.

                       CAPTAIN QOE

Captain's Log: A.D 56900 02:30
Monday, 3rd Gamiel.

Mars at last! The whole crew is
celebrating with a bottle of
champagne. There's food in the
base, and the droids are simply
going to collect it. By tomorrow,
we should be able to walk around.
Everyone's laughing and joking,
and almost all the tension is
gone. Greem and Tennson have made
up and Chzoel is cooking up some
supper. We'll all radio home
today, and say hello to are
families. Greem is especially
looking forward to contacting
Siegfrod, an aspiring astronaut
himself. I've heard Greem brag
about-

Siegfrod puts the book down, and sheds a tear.

Jop walks in, but quickly got out and left Siegfrod alone.

About an hour later, Jop come back in and brings in some
dinner. It was just freeze- dried food, but satisfied them
anyway.

                                         FADE OUT.

INT. ALIEN TRADER SHIP - DAY

Then the screen goes blank for a second.

4.

Watch as Siegfrod and Jop follow the Neptunian.

Then Siegfrod stops and glances to his left. He see's a book
that was titled "Capt. Que". His eyes widen in excitment. He
turns around to the Neptunian

                       NEPTUNIAN
      (Not very good
       english)
Seventy dollars.

                       SIEGFROD
We'll take it.
      (Seeing him
       already opening
       the book.)

INT. SS COBRA- BRIDGE - DAY

                       SIEGFROD
Jop look at this. Captain Que log
has almost everything about the
mission.

                       JOP
Yeah, yeah, but I still can't
beleive that cost seventy dollars
just for that.

INT. SS COBRA- SIEGFROD QUARTERS - DAY

Then the screen goes blank for a second.

See Siegfrod day dreaming.

                       JOP
      (enters and
       shatters Siegfrod
       day dream)
Hey Sieg, guess what!

                       SIEGFROD
What?!?

                       JOP
Mars is insight the telescope!

They both exit the room.

5.

EXT. SPACE - DAY

Watch as the SS Corba heads to Mars.

INT. SS COBRA- BRIDGE - DAY

                       COMPUTER VOICE
APPROACHING THE RED PLANET. PLEASE
STAY STRAPPED IN YOUR SEATS. THANK
YOU.

Siegfrod and Jop strapped themselfs into their seats, and
awaited the landing.

Jop starts writing into the journel.

Siegfrod stretched a little bit, then ask for the journal.
Then he flipped it to the next entry.

                       CAPTAIN QOE
      (Narrating)
Captain's Log: A.D 56900 13:00
Saturday, 5th Gamiel.

The Martian station is completely
set up, and we're going to
transport all the equipment there
later today. For now everyone is
resting in their bunks. The night
was tiring- no one got any sleep.
Because of the noisy droids. We're
all looking forward to
deactivating them after the
mission is over. Hopefully, we'll
get some upgraded droids next
time. At least something a bit
more quiet. I think I'll lie down
now.

Capt. Qoe

Then the book started to float out of his hands.

                       SIEGFROD
Damn it!

                       JOP
      (Looks at Siegfrod)
I guess you forgot about that. The
gravity will be back when we land.

6.

They both looked out the window looking for the space
stations.

EXT. MARS - DAY

See one space station, but its surrounded by deactivated
droids. Another was close by, surrounded by giant satellite
dishes.

The SS Cobra lands near the space station. A ramp comes out
from the SS Cobra.

Siegfrod and Jop walk down the ramp with some equipment.

The floor of Mars was dotted with old equipment, telescopes,
droids, and lots and lots of space junk.

                       SIEGFROD
Mars has gotten really polluted.

                       JOP
Tell me about it.
      (pause)
Well, where should we look first?

Siegfrod shrugged.

                       JOP
      (Tries another on)
Was the location of the station
mentioned in the journel?

Siegfrod shook his head.

                       JOP
      (Mad)
Then what the hell sort of lead is
the stupied journel then!?!

                       SIEGFROD
      (Shouting)
How else would we know to look on
Mars!?!

They were silent for a few minutes, breathing heavily.

                       SIEGFROD
Sorry, but this has been hard. You
know, giving up my job to find my
brother, and I really want this
search to take us somewhere.

7.

                       JOP
Yeah, I know how you feel. I lost
my cousin a year ago, and things
just haven't been the same. If you
need to find Greem, then you need
to find him.

The two look down for a moment, remembering those they had
lost.

                       JOP
      (After a moment of
       silence)
Alright! Let's get started!

Siegfrod grinned. Then they headed off in the direction of
the sun, hoping that would get them somewhere.

                                         FADE OUT.

                                         FADE IN.

An hour later after search many stations for clues by
finding none.

                       JOP
I can't believe we found no clues
in those two stations we looked
in.

Then Siegfrod stopped.

                       JOP
Whats wrong?

                       SIEGFROD
      (pointing)
Look.

Jop looks to see the Artemis V crashed in the middle of the
desert. The paint was faded and peeling. It was hard to read
the name written on the side.

The ship was right next to another martian station.

                       SIEGFROD AND JOP
      (Running to the
       ship)
Come on!

8.

INT. ARTEMIS- BRIDGE - DAY

They walk in.

                       JOP
Hello anyone ther...

The sight was horrific. Hunched over the controls was the
dead body of Captain Qoe.

They both examined the dead body.

                       SIEGFROD
      (Shocked)
This is terrible.
      (Turns to Jop)
Who could have done this?

                       JOP
I don't know.
      (pause)
Come on, let's go look at the rest
of the ship.

They do to the next room.

They open the door to see Chzoel lying on bed with his mouth
open and his eyes bloodshot. He had a small electronic
device in his hand, it was a tester for posion.

                       JOP
      (Shocked)
This is awful!

Siegfrod went up to Chzoel. He took the posion tester out of
his hand.

                       SIEGFROD
He hadn't even had time to test
himself before he died.

Then he slips it into his pocket.

They moved on to the next room.

Tennson had his eyes closed

                       SIEGFROD
      (Shocked)
He must of died in his sleep.

Then they started walking to the next room.

9.

                       JOP
      (concernly)
Sieg, you know what's gonna be in
the next room. Do you want me to
do it myself.

Siegfrod shook his head.

                       SIEGFROD
I gotta face the truth, Jop.

Jop sighed, and slowly, oh so slowly, they opened the door.
As they walked in they were met with a sight even more
shocking then the others.

There was no body.

The bed was surrounded by three deactivated droids, their
parts scattered throught the room. One had lost its head,
another only had a torso.

                       JOP
What's up with all the droids?

                       SIEGFROD
      (Confused, angry)
Where's Greem's body?

Jop and Siegfrod hurried over to the wreckage, looking for
bloodstains or perhaps the body had fallen behind the bed.
Nothing.

                       SIEGFROD
      (yelling)
What the hell is this?

Siegfrod and Jop look through the cabin. Nothing but robot
parts strewn everywhere.

                       JOP
Sieg.
      (paused for a
       minute)
Well, I was thinking that the last
entry in the journal might explain
what's been happening here.

Siegfrod slapped himself on the forehead and got the journal
out of his backpack. Quickly, he turned to the back page.

                       CHZOEL

                       CHZOEL (cont'd)
I am sorry to report the deaths of
Jez Qoe, our beloved captain, and
Giol Tennson. We don't know how it
could've happened, but they were
both completely fine the night
before we found them dead. I've
been hastily promoted to captain,
but I'll never replace Qoe. Plus,
it's looking like we're going to
be buried on Mars, all of us.
      (Sighs)
The radio connection has been cut
off, the ship is experiencing
problems, and Greem is deathly
ill. I can hear him screaming now.
The droids are attending him. If
we ever make it out of this alive,
I'll never leave Earth again.

Capt. Chzoel

The journal shook in Siegfrod's hands. He laid the journal
down and looked at Jop. Job quickly picked it up and read it
quickly.

                       JOP
      (muttered to
       himself)
Stupid. We're so stupid!

                       SIEGFROD
How so?

                       JOP
We should've looked at this entry
first. Then we would've known
to...

                       SIEGFROD
Known to what?
      (Snapped)
Known not to come?

Jop looked down at his feet.

                       SIEGFROD
Things may look grim Jop, but
Greem's body wasn't in there. And
that means he's still alive.

11.

                       JOP
Or, that it's in the station,
which we haven't looked yet.

They thought about it for a minute.

They left the ship, and headed to the space station.

EXT. SPACE STATION - DAY

Siegfrod tried to open it.

                       SIEGFROD
That door's jammed shut.

Siegfrod got the crowbar out of his backpack.

                       SIEGFROD
This will do the trick.

The crowbar opened the door. They went in slowly, expecting
something terrible.

INT. SPACE STATION- CORRIDOR - DAY

All the lights were off, leaving them in the dark except for
Jop's flashlight.

They kept on walking.

They met some more deactivated droids and robot parts
scatter all over the floor.

                       JOP
This is creepy.

They keep on walking. The walls and floor charred black.

                       SIEGFROD
Looks like that there was a fire.

                       JOP
But that's impossible.

                       SIEGFROD
Let's just keep moving.

They keep walking.

                                         FADE OUT.

12.

                                         FADE IN.

                       JOP
This is the last one.

They head into the room.

INT. SPACE STATION- MEDICAL ROOM - DAY

They gasp at what they see.

There are droids all over the floor. Some peppered with
holes, and some in a million pieces. All the droids where
burn't and broken.

But one was kneeling by the bed (the sheets were ripped in
half) was completely intact except for the burn mark on its
face. It was holding a pill.

                       JOP
      (Scanning the room
       for clues)
Why so many droids?

Accidentally, he pressed a button on the wall. Both men turn
around as a door slid open.

It was a closet nesting about a dozen inactivated droids.
They looked brand new, made of poslished steel, and were a
foot taller than normal droids.

                       JOP
Whoah! These things have got to be
cutting edge!
      (paused for a
       minute)
And... they were made over a
decade ago. Why don't we have
technology like this?

                       SIEGFROD
We do, obviously, but NASA is
keeping the important stuff I
guess. And I mean important.

                       JOP
How was this so important? All
they did was set up some equipment
in here.

13.

                       SIEGFROD
That's what we think. But
obviously, they did more than
that.

He picked up the journal and pointed to it.

                       SIEGFROD
The answer to our question is in
here.

He opened up the book, and started flipping through.
Finally, he got to a page near the end and read it quickly.
He snapped his fingers.

                       SIEGFROD
      (pointing to the
       entry)
This is the answer to our
questions.

                       CAPTAIN QOE
Captain's Log: A.D 56900 09:00
Wednesday, 30th Gamiel.

Today we buried bodies. We had no
idea what was in the crates that
we had to take, but instructions
were written on the inside. It's a
grim affair. All of the bodies
have the same markings on them,
bloodshot eyes and pale skin. No
one is happy or joking today,
Chzoel even said that we were
Hades' servants, delivering the
dead to hell. I told him to shut
up, but he's right. Greem, the
youngest, wasn't told about it. We
didn't want to alarm him, he's
already pretty antsy. None of us
can guess why there are so many
dead bodies or where they came
from. If I had known the purpose
of this mission, I never would've
come. We found even more droids in
the station today, I think that
makes about thirty. They all had
built-in weapon and camera
systems, none of us knows why.
God, I can't wait to get out of
here.

Capt. Qoe

14.

                       JOP
So that would explain the purpose
of the mission and the droids, but
why? Why come to Mars just to bury
some bodies?
      (He stared at
       Siegfrod waiting
       for an answer)

But Siegfrod didn't reply.

                       JOP
      (talking again
       slowly)
If NASA had the bodies buried all
the way out here, then the
government wants them far away
from Earth. Somewhere where nobody
could ever find them...

                       SIEGFROD
      (Interrupting)
And that's why transportation to
Mars had been cut off!
      (snapping his
       fingers)
Everyone thought it was because
there was no life of natural
resources here, but it was because
the government didn't want anyone
coming. But why?

They both thought for a moment.

                       SIEGFROD
Maybe, maybe the people died from
some disease that no one on Earth
had ever seen before, something
they were afraid of. Something
contagious, and deadly.

                       JOP
      (Catching on)
But they restricted the
contamination to just these
victiom!

                       SIEGFROD
But that wasn't gonna last, so
they sent bodies to Mars! Somehow
the crewmembers caught the disease
and they all died.

15.

Both men were silent for a moment.

                       SIEGFROD
And there were so many droids
because if the crew all died
somebody would have to finish the
job.

                       JOP
And they had the built-in weapons
and cameras because...

Jop looked at Siegfrod expectantly. Siegfrod just shrugged.

                       JOP
That's still a mystery I guess.
Another myster is, where did your
brother go?

Siegfrod glared at him, and Jop looked down apologetically.

There was silence, and then Siegfrod eyes opened wide. He
had an idea.

                       SIEGFROD
I have an idea. That droid, the
one standing by the bed.

Jop nodded, and gestured for him to continue.

                       SIEGFROD
He has a built-in camera, right?
Maybe we could watch the
transmission and find out what
happened in this room.

                       JOP
      (grinning)
I'm on it!

In no time Jop had the droids camera plugged into a screen,
and they watch the transmission.

The screen is just the video.

The vision is a greenish. (Can do that with effect in
editing.)

                       ROBOT
MEDICATION.
      (holding up a pill
       the the patient
       on the bed)

16.

                       ROBOT (cont'd)
OPEN YOUR MOUTH

He lowered the pill, but was stopped by an arm that almost
shot up to stop it.

                       ROBOT
      (Trying to force
       the pill down the
       patient's throat)
YOU MUST TAKE YOUR MEDICATION.

But the man in the bed sat up straigt, his eyes bloodshot,
and his face pale. He spoke, but it was if there were two
voices, one regular and one almost unearthly.

                       GREEM
MEDICATIONS WILL NOT HELP HIM NOW!
      (Grinning
       maniacally)
NOTHING CAN HELP HIM NOW! NOTHING
CAN SAVE ANYONE!

He laughed demonically, and then flame shot out of his hands
at the droids face.

                       ROBOT
      (yelling)
BACKUP!
      (yelling)
I NEED BACKUP!

In seconds the view went black. Then the words "END OF
TRANSMISSION" pop up on the screen.

Then you see both Jop and Siegfrod silent.

                       SIEGFROD
      (in a low voice)
That was Greem.

                                         FADE OUT.

                                         FADE IN.

Hours had past and the had spoken a single word.

Siegfrod was reading the same journal entries over and over
agian, and Jop was still processing what they had seen.

                       SIEGFROD
Greem's gotta be out there
somewhere.

17.

Jop frowned.

                       JOP
How could anyone survive for
thirteen years with no supplies?

                       SIEGFROD
Whatever had happened to Greem, he
wanted to get to Earth. And I
think he had a way of getting
there. I think.
      (slowly)
that something has possesed my
brother, and that it wants revenge
on Earth for some reason.

                       CAPTAIN QOE
      (Smacks his
       forehead)
Of course! Greem, or what was
inside Greem, planned to take the
Artemis V back to Earth! But he
didn't count on the ship having
engine problems. He must've tried
to take off and crashed.

                       SIEGFROD
      (realizing
       something)
Wait a minute. If he's been stuck
here for 13 years just waiting for
a ship, and we came with a
perfectly good ship...

                       JOP
      (Interrupting)
Oh hell! No wonder we haven't seen
him! He might be heading for Earth
as we speak! We've got to get to
the Cobra before he does!

They scramble through the door and ran down the hallway.

As soon as they left, the closet door opens. Greem walks
out, his eyes glowing. He grins demonically.

INT. SS COBRA- BRIDGE - DAY

                       JOP
      (opening the last
       door in the Cobra)
He's not here! He's not here! Why
didn't he come? How could he

                       JOP (cont'd)
resist the temptation? That
dosen't make any sense!

                       SIEGFROD
Jop. I think something did come
here, but not Greem.

Jop turned around and gasped.

Standing about three feet behind them was a droid, one of
the really hi-tech ones. Its eyes suddenly lit up.

                       JOP
      (nervously)
I-I thought you said it was
deactivated!

                       SIEGFROD
No. Not just deactivated,
inactivated. It's never been
activated! You'd need an
activation code, a password. This
is impossible!

The droid turned to them, its eyes red.

                       ROBOT
IMPOSSIBLE? YOU WILL SOON FIND
THAT NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE!
NOTHING!

Fire came out of the robot's mouth headed straight toward
Siegfrod's head. He screamed and jumped out of the way just
in time.

                       SIEGFROD
      (yelling as the
       robot shot
       another fireball)
This is not good!

                       JOP
      (as the robot
       stepped toward
       them)
How do we stop him?

The robot's head glowed red, and fire came out of its eyes.
They couldn't stop it this time; it was coming straight
toward his face.

19.

PHZZT! A stream of white foam shot at the robot. Its eyes
dimmed, its hands stopped glowing red, and it leaned it head
down. A chill filled the room, and the door swung open
quickly. Jop dropped the fire extinguisher that he had used
to defend himself.

                       SIEGFROD
What was in that foam?

                       JOP
Oh it's just the normal formula.
      (picking up the
       container)
Actually, it had a few Oxylium
compounds in it also, but that
helps it to dissolve itself after
the fire is out. The fire
extinquisher itself is really jsut
a precaution. I mean, when are you
going to get a fire in space?

Siegfrod picked up the bottle and put it in his backpack.

                       SIEGFROD
Might come in use later.

                       JOP
You don't mean...

                       SIEGFROD
Come on.

Siegfrod stands going to the station.

Jop looks at the robot.

                       JOP
      (following after
       Siegfrod)
Wait up!

INT. SPACE STATION- MEDICAL ROOM - DAY

They check the droids. None of them were intact to show
anything through their cameras though, and the one's that
were still in one piece hadn't seen anything.

                       JOP
Hey!

Siegfrod hurried over to Jop.

20.

                       JOP
      (holding a tape)
I found this in one of them.

It looked old and scrached up, but probably still worked.

Jop puts the tape back into the droid again and they
watched.

The screen is just the video.

See Greem's face close to the scene eyes not bloodshot, and
he looked scared.

                       GREEM
Hello. This is Lieutenant Greem.
Whoever's watching this, it's
probably too late for you. Your
mind has probably already been
infected. For the moment, I've
fought it off. But it'll be back,
oh it'll be back. So I don't have
much time to tell you my story. I
guess I'd better begin.
      (pause for a
       moment)
It all started with me, I guess. I
had been homesick and went out to
get a stretch n the surface. Qoe
offered to go with me, but I told
him I'd like to go alone. That was
when I'd found the pit. The other
crewmembers dug it without me; I
suppose not to alarm me. But I had
never seen this many bodies
before. It was terrible. I started
to back away, but then one of them
opened their eyes. He sat up
rigidly, and his eyes were glowing
red. I tried to run away, but
stood transfixed in the spot. The
'dead' man smiled, and then he
fell back down. He was really dead
this time. I went back, planning
to tell the captain, but I
hesitated. I thought that maybe
I'd imagined it. Anyway, I kept my
discovery to myself for the
moment. The next day, I was
horribly sick. I was screaming and
retching the agony was so awful.
At first it was just pain, but
then there would be long stretches
where I had no idea what I was

doing. I would black out, and the
next morning someone died. The
droids knew what I had become.
They tried to kill me in my sleep.
One even tried to poison me. But
unbeknownst to even myself, I
destroyed them. Finally, only I
was left. Left with the raging
monster I had become. You may
think this is a disease that I'm
experiencing, some sort ofplague,
but it's not. I don't know
exactly, but if my suspicions are
correct than I am being possessed
by a living organism. Something
angry, something that wants to get
to Earth. I've destroyed the
Artemis V, but I know someone will
come looking for us. I hope it's
not too late to...

Suddenly, Greem's eyes lit up again. He smiled evilly.

                       GREEM
IT'S TOO LATE FOR YOU NOW! YOU
WILL DIE LIKE THE REST! YOU WILL
DIE SOON! YOU WILL ALL DIE!

The tape ended, then Jop and Siegfrod look at each other.

                       JOP
This explains everything! The
robots had weapons because NASA
knew that a victim of whatever
this was could be dagerous! It
also explains that...

                       SIEGFROD
      (Calm)
It doesn't explain that.

Siegfrod pointed to the door where Greem was standing, eyes
glowing. And behind him were Qoe, Tennson, and Chzoel.

                       JOP
      (pointing to the
       three men from
       the ship)
But, but, you're dead! How is this even possible?

22.

                       GREEM
WHAT IS LIFE?

Siegfrod just stared at him, not saying a word.

                       GREEM
NOTHING! JUST A QUIRK OF MATTER!
THE DEAD ARE EASY! THEY GIVE NO
RESISTANCE!

                       SIEGFROD
      (in disbelief)
Greem?

His eyes open wide and his senses seemed to leave him as he
charged toward what used to be his brother. Greem never even
let Siegfrod get close to him before fire shot out of his
mouth. There was a scream, and Siegfrod layed dead on the
floor.

                       JOP
      (yelling)
You monster!
      (knelt down to
       feel his friends
       pulse)
He was your brother! Hear that?
Your brother!

                       GREEM
MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS DIED LONG
AGO!
      (then he narrowed
       his eyes and
       growled)
NOW, I WILL DEAL WITH YOU!

Fire leapt out of his eyes, hands, and his mouth. The flames
ruptured out of his body and hurtled towards Jop. With
lightning-quick reflexes, he got to his feet and strayed
Greem in the face with the fire extinguisher.

                       GREEM
      (as he clutched
       his face in agony)
NO!

Screams filled the room, but it didn't last long. Grinding
his teeth, Greem glared at Jop.

                       JOP
Who are you? Scratch that- what
are you?

23.

                       GREEM
FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS I HAVE
SLEPT. YOUR PEOPLE SLAUGHTERED MY
FAMILY, MY CHILDREN. I WAS
IMPRISONED IN THE EARTH'S CORE,
EMTOMBED IN FIRE. BUT STILL I DID
NOT DIE! I BECAME FIRE, AND FIRE
BECAME ME. NOW I COME BACK FOR
REVENGE!

                       JOP
But what are you?

                       GREEM
WE ARE! WE WERE! WE ALWAYS WILL
BE! WE WILL NEVER DIE!

Greem bent back, and his entire body erupted. Flames licked
around the room. Qoe, Tennson, and Chzoel walked up to Greem
slowly. They focused on Jop, and then started running
towards him.

Jop took the hint and ran as fast as he could.

EXT. MARS - DAY

Everything was a blur as he sprinted out of the station and
arcross the landscape. He remembered having spray one of the
crewmembers occasionally with the fire extinguisher, but
they were always right back behind him. Greem was leading
the pack.

At last the ship was in sight. Never had he been so happy to
see the Cobra. But now was not the time for relief. Now was
the time fore getting off of Mars as fast as he could.

He ran up the ramp into the Cobra.

INT. SS COBRA- BRIDGE - DAY

He locked himself in the bridge and fumbled with the
steering. Already he could hear the men running into the
ship. He wouldn't have very long. And if he got the ship...

That was when he saw the red button. It was only for
emergencies, they had said, and he had never thought of
actually pressing it. But now he wavered. If he pressed the
button, the ship would explode and eliminate the threat. He
could save the world, and no one would even know.

24.

The men were hammering at the door. It wouldn't be long now.
He would have to make a decision.

                       JOP
      (pushing the
       button)
Go to hell!

EXT. MARS - DAY

See the ship explode.

                                         THE SCENE DOES WHITE

The credits play.

INT. BAZARR - DAY

Meangil walks into a bazarr.

He see's all sort of junk. There was a bucket, a space
helmet, and a torn journal with a faded name on the cover,
something like "Cobra". Meangil picked up the book,
genuinely interested.

                       LATINO ACCENT MAN
You like it? We got it from the,
what you call? Space flotsam? We
think it might've come from light
years away! Pluto, Saturn, who
knows? Maybe even Mars!

                       MEANGIL
Mars?
      (he chuckled)
Imagine that, a book all the way
from Mars!

                                         FADE OUT.
