Rated: PG-13   Genre: Action/Adventure   User Review:
NOT YET
RATED

The first issue of a comic book depicting what happened to Amelia Earhart and her navigator Fred Noonan after they vanished over the Pacific. Not proper comic script format, but you get the idea.

Fred sits up against the side of the plane behind her.

      (into receiver)
KHAQQ calling Itasca. This is
Amelia Earhart. Copy?

PANEL THREE:

Fred pulls up his pant leg to examine his wound.

                       AMELIA (off panel)
KHAQQ to Itasca, do you copy?

                       FRED
You've run the dial three times
over already. Ain't nobody out
there. Take a breather, will ya?

PANEL FOUR:

Amelia turns back to look at Fred.

                       AMELIA
Christ, Fred, that's the biggest
"scratch" I'VE ever seen.

PANEL FIVE:

Amelia picks up a nearby first aid kit.

Fred winces as he rolls his pant leg above his knee.

PANEL SIX:

Amelia kneels down in front of Fred, removing cotton balls
and rubbing alcohol from the open first aid kit by her feet.

                       AMELIA
What do we do now?

7.

                       FRED
Help me set my leg and we can hike
down this mountain. Try to find
help before we freeze or starve to
death.

INT. PAGE 9 - DAY

PANEL ONE:

Fred cringes as Amelia touches the alcohol-soaked cotton
ball to his wound.

A folded map lies near Fred's hand.

                       AMELIA
Grab the map. See if you can find
out where we are while I get this
cleaned up.

PANEL TWO:

Fred unfolds a map.

                       FRED
We're off course. Don't need a map
to tell us that. Unless you
remember flying through a snow
storm and into a mountain?

                       AMELIA (off panel)
Last thing I remember is flying
over water through clear skies.

                       FRED
Same here. Last I checked the time
it was closing on nine in the
morning.

PANEL THREE:

Amelia wraps gauze around Fred's leg.

                       AMELIA
That sounds about right.

PANEL FOUR:

Fred stares out a plane window to clearing skies and a
setting sun.

8.

                       FRED
Then why is the sun setting?

PANEL FIVE:

Amelia continues to set the leg.

                       AMELIA
We must have been unconscious
longer than we thought.

                       FRED (off panel)
What I want to know is...

PANEL SIX:

A bird's eye view of the plane reveals what appears to be a
polar bear approaching it.

                       FRED (cont'd)
      (from plane)
How in the world did we wind up
outside in the snow?

INT. PAGE 10 - DAY

PANEL ONE:

Amelia stands, looking down at Fred's leg.

                       AMELIA
There. That should hold for now.
As for us in the snow? Not sure
how that happened. Maybe we
attempted a trek upon landing and
just...forgot.

                       FRED
Both of us? Highly unli--!

PANEL TWO:

A large white paw CRASHES in through the window.

Startled, Fred and Amelia both pull away from it.

PANEL THREE:

Amelia sits back against the opposite wall of the plane,
staring with fear at the snarling face of a polar bear
staring at her through the busted plane window.

9.

PANEL FOUR:

The bear GROWLS at her. Its eyes are pure black, but seems
to be full of blood.

Blood stains the bear's white fur around it snout and claws.

Something about it's face just doesn't look right.

PANEL FIVE:

Fred sits up from the floor, wide-eyed at the sight of the
bear.

                       FRED
Jesus! Where the hell did that
come from?

PANEL SIX:

Amelia reaches over for the open first aid kit.

Amelia sticks the scissors deep into the bear's paw.

The bear HOWLS in pain.

PANEL THREE:

The bear turns to retreat.

PANEL FOUR:

Amelia stands watching the bear become more distant through
the window.

                       AMELIA
It's retreating.

                       FRED
Well, I wasn't too keen on that
one bit. Did you see its eyes?

10.

PANELS FIVE & SIX:

Amelia helps Fred to his feet.

Through the window, the bear has turned back to face them.

                       AMELIA
It didn't look like any kind of
hungry I'd ever seen.

The bear is closer now.

Fred is upright.

                       FRED
Maybe we should wait a while
before stepping outside.

                       AMELIA
Read my mind.

PANEL SEVEN:

Outside of the plane, the polar bear rams it head against
the plane's tail with tremendous force.

The bear backs up as the plane rotates slightly, its tail
hanging over a sloped edge.

PANEL THREE:

The nose of the plane tilts upwards...

The plane slides down the sloped mountainside tail first.
