A bounty hunter haunted by a dark past, refusing to accept her destiny. Samus Aran is the Galactic Federation's single greatest weapon in the ongoing struggle with the evil Space Pirates, whose purpose is total domination of the galaxy. With the recent discovery of creatures known as Metroids-which have the ability to drain the life energy of any creature-this purpose could become a reality, unless Samus can stop it.

SUPER METROID THE MOVIE

FADE IN:

INT. DARK CAVE - DREAM - DAY

Metal footsteps can be heard echoing throughout the cave. A
metal-clad bounty hunter is running, then stops in front of
a door. The bounty hunter turns its head towards a floating
creature that's been following it, then returns its gaze to
the door. The bounty hunter raises its right arm, blasts the
door with its arm cannon, and runs through the opening. The
floating creature follows closely.

P.O.V. - SURFACE - DAY

As the bounty hunter exits the cave, the suns rays of light
are overwhelming the visor.

DREAM END

FAD TO:

EXT. SAMUS'S SHIP - THE PRESENT - NIGHT

SAMUS'S ship flies through space.

INT. SAMUS SHIP - NIGHT

SAMUS wakes up still sitting in the pilot chair, holding
canister containing METROID. Samus lays canister beside
chair metroid screeches, removes her helmet, places it on
her lap, and presses several buttons on the chairs right
arm. Sounds emanate from console in front of her as monitor
is replaced with the image of ADAM MALKOVICH.

ADAM
(concern)
What the hell, Samus, it's about
time you checked in! For all I
knew you were dead in a cave
somewhere.

SAMUS
Obviously, I'm not!

ADAM
Call me sentimental, but I was
worried about you.

SAMUS
Quit your whining, things got a
little hot down there.

ADAM
So, did you find a breeding area
of any kind?

SAMUS
A queen (pause) and a lot of eggs.
Don't worry though-she won't be
laying anymore in anyone's
lifetime.

ADAM
Now that's the kind of news the
Federation wants to hear. Good
work, lady!

SAMUS
(sarcastic)
Thanks!

ADAM
Well, I'll just inform Federation
HQ and...

SAMUS
(pointing)
No, don't tell them yet.

ADAM
What? Why? You know the protocol.

SAMUS
Spare me. I have something I want
you to see first.

ADAM
OK, that's different. What is it?

SAMUS
You'll see it when I get back to
CERES.

ADAM
As much as I love surprises, I'd
rather know now.

SAMUS
We don't always get what we want.
Out.

Samus presses button on chair arm and Adam's face
disappears. Samus lays her head back and closes her eyes.

SAMUS
(sighs)
Always by the book with him.

EXT. CERES STATION - NIGHT

Samus's ship closes in on station, dodging asteroid's along
the way.

INT. SAMUS'S SHIP - NIGHT

Samus sits in pilot's chair wearing a blue jump suit, and
presses buttons on chair arm.

SAMUS
Samus Aran, requesting permission
to land.

Pause.

G.F. OFFICER 1 (V.O)
Permission granted Ms. Aran.
Proceed to bay quarters B.

SAMUS
Right. I need to check in with my
CO Adam Malkovich. Where is he?

G.F. OFFICER 1 (V.O)
In the lab. He's expecting you.

SAMUS
No kidding! Out.

Samus pushes button and comm dies.

SAMUS
Of course he's in the lab; where
else would he be?

EXT. CERES STATION DOCKING BAY - NIGHT

Samus's ship flies into station.

INT. DOCKING BAY - NIGHT

Samus's ship lowers it's altitude and hovers inches from
ground. The hatch on top of ship opens and a platform raises
Samus to top. Samus carries canister with cloth covering it;
she steps forward, slides down the front of the ship, and
lands on her feet. Samus walks away from ship.

INT. DOCKING BAY - LAB HALLWAY - NIGHT

Samus walks down a hallway, sees Adam though window of exam
room, and walks in.

INT. LAB HALLWAY - EXAM ROOM - NIGHT

Adam notices Samus and stands up. Then Adam sees canister.

ADAM
(smiling)
Ah, I didn't realize it was my
birthday. Well, whatever that is I
hope it was worth all the secrecy.

SAMUS
(rushing)
I need to talk to you.

ADAM
(gesturing)
Well, here I am, in case you
happened not to notice.

Samus pulls Adam towards the supplies room.

SAMUS
Alone, where no one can see us.

ADAM
(smiling)
All right.

SAMUS
I'll give you the details in
there.

INT. EXAM ROOM - SUPPLIES CLOSET - NIGHT

Adam walks to end of closet and turns to speak. Samus enters
closet and starts pulling cloth off of canister.

ADAM
So, what's so special that you had
to...

He sees Metroid in canister and jumps back.

ADAM
(frightened)
Holy shit!

SAMUS
Will you calm down?

ADAM
What the hell, Samus? You said
your mission was done.

SAMUS
Technically, I never said that,
but it is done.

ADAM
Who are you kidding? What do you
call that?

SAMUS
It's the last of them OK?

ADAM
Doesn't make me feel any better.

Adam gives Samus a serious look.

ADAM
Let me explain something to you;
your mission was to "exterminate"
the metroids. That implies that
there are no more. Ever!

Samus rolls her eyes and shakes her head.

SAMUS
I know what exterminate means,
jackass.

ADAM
Why did you bring it here?

SAMUS
I want you to run tests on it.

ADAM
Are you out of your mind? You know
how much trouble we'll be in if
Federation HQ finds out it's here?

SAMUS
I do.

ADAM
Obviously not. The President will
have our asses for breakfast, and
frankly, I like my ass where it
is.

Adam points to his backside.

SAMUS
I'm serious here.

ADAM
So am I.

SAMUS
I need you to do this for me.

ADAM
Why?

SAMUS
You said they have no memory or
compassion.

ADAM
Actually, Dr. MORTON'S the one who
said that. What's your point?

SAMUS
This one didn't attack me.

ADAM
What?

SAMUS
It hatched and just flew around me
like I was its mother. Never seen
one do that before.

Adam looks at canister, then back at Samus.

ADAM
OK that's different, and
interesting, I'll give you that.
However, it doesn't change the
danger factor.

SAMUS
I'm aware of the danger, but tests
could give us answers to why it
acted like that.

ADAM
I agree, but it's forbidden. It'll
never be authorized.

SAMUS
Then do it secretly!

ADAM
No! Why should I? Give me one good
reason.

Samus raised her right arm with her fist clenched in Adam's
face.

SAMUS
How about I give you several
reasons?

ADAM
Nice, but I still say no!

Samus scoffs and turns her back to Adam.

ADAM
I don't get it, why does this mean
so much to you? And since when do
you show concern for other
creatures?

SAMUS
I'm not a monster, you jerk!

Samus slowly turns to look at Adam.

SAMUS
You're the only one I can come to
with this, all right!

Adam lowers his head and takes a deep breath.

ADAM
All right, all right. I'll do it.

SAMUS
Really?

ADAM
Reluctantly, but only under my
terms.

SAMUS
Meaning?

ADAM
Meaning that I'll need help
examining it.

SAMUS
Why?

ADAM
Because I'll need an extra pair of
hands for this, and coincidently,
there happens to be someone on
board with experience in studying
your new friend there.

Samus shakes her head.

SAMUS
Not Morton. I don't want him
knowing about this.

ADAM
You don't have a choice. This is
his lab. He'll find out sooner or
later.

SAMUS
There has to be another way.

ADAM
There isn't. This is how it is;
take it or leave it.

SAMUS
(disappointed)
What makes you think he'll even go
along with it?

ADAM
Well, Dr. Morton is a scientist at
heart. He may be intrigued by the
idea.

SAMUS
No.

ADAM
I'll talk to him. Don't worry.
(Pause) Any objections lady?

SAMUS
Fine!

ADAM
(smiles)
Fine!

Adam starts walking away from Samus while she puts the cloth
back on the canister. They both leave the closet.

INT. SUPPLIES CLOSET - EXAM ROOM - NIGHT

ADAM
Well. Since that's taken care of,
we have other business to attend
to.

Samus looks confused, then gives Adam a sour look.

SAMUS
Oh, come on.

ADAM
You know it's protocol. I have to
ensure that nothing dangerous came
back with you.
(Looks at canister) Besides that.

SAMUS
I swear you get off on this.

ADAM
Oh, come on now, you know I'm just
looking out for your safety. I
take no pleasure in this.

Adam eyes Samus's body briefly, then notices Dr. Morton
passing by through the window.

SAMUS
Whatever you say.

ADAM
Tell you what, you wait for me
while I catch up with Dr. Morton.
You know where to go.

EXT. EXAM ROOM - NIGHT

Adam exits room.

INT. LAB HALLWAY - NIGHT

Adam catches up to Dr. MORTON.

ADAM
Dr. Morton?

MORTON
Adam, what can I do for you, son?

ADAM
Well, long story short, I need
your assistance for an
examination.

Morton see's Samus leave exam room and walk down lab
hallway.

MORTON
You've never needed me in the
past.

Adam turns to see Samus, then shakes his head.

ADAM
No! No. Not with her, with a
specimen.

MORTON
And what sort of specimen are you
referring to?

ADAM
Umm, the floating, life-draining
kind.

Morton stares at Adam, and tilts his head.

MORTON
(whispers)
A metroid?

ADAM
Yeah, one of those.

Morton puts his left arm around Adam's neck and walks Adam
into his office.

INT. LAB HALLWAY - MORTON'S OFFICE - NIGHT

MORTON
My friend, I hope this is a sick
joke.

Morton closes his office door.

ADAM
No sir, this is not a joke.

MORTON
Then why? Explain to me, Adam, why
is it here? I know that Ms. Aran
was sent to destroy them all.

ADAM
She did, sort of. There's only one
left. She has asked me to examine
it.

MORTON
She asked you? I find that hard to
believe.

Morton walks toward a wall with hanging pictures.

ADAM
I know, I'm still trying to
process it myself, but it's true.

MORTON
To what extent and purpose?

ADAM
This metroid, she says, didn't
attack her after hatching.

Morton tilts his head.

MORTON
That's fascinating! And you came
to me with this?

Morton grabs a picture frame from the wall of himself and
various scientists.

ADAM
It is your lab. I also figured
since you discovered them.

Morton looks at Adam with a worried expression.

MORTON
(smiles)
Bullshit, son. Samus already knew
about them before the Federation.
This is not a good idea.

ADAM
Didn't you write in your original
report that "through testing,
perhaps a scientific use can be
found?"

Morton puts the picture frame back on the wall.

MORTON
I also wrote that they are
"extremely dangerous". Too much
could go wrong with studying it
here. Besides that, how do you
plan on breaking this to
Federation HQ?

ADAM
Haven't figured that out yet, but
just a couple of days is all I
have in mind. If nothing is found,
project terminated.

Morton turns to face Adam.

ADAM
And if anything does go wrong, we
have Samus.

MORTON
(undecided)
Even her presence won't do any
good; at least not without her
suit. I've seen what metroids can
do up close, and trust me my boy,
it's not a pleasant sight.

ADAM
How bad are they-really?

MORTON
You really want to know?

ADAM
Yes sir, I do.

MORTON
(pauses)
Very well, I'll show you. Contact
me when you finish with your
current specimen.

Morton turns and walks to his desk.

ADAM
(excited)
Sure thing sir.

EXT. MORTON'S OFFICE - NIGHT

Adam leaves the room.

INT. MORTON'S OFFICE - NIGHT

Morton sits at his desk, pulls a bottle and glass from a
drawer, pours a drink and takes a long slow gulp. Morton
glances at picture on desk of himself and female doctor,
then takes another gulp.

FLASHBACK TO:

EXT. SR388 SURFACE - (2070) - DAY

SERIES OF SHOTS - SCIENTISTS DISCOVER METROID AND ESCAPE

Woman finds Chozo tablet containing Chozo language. Metroid
attacks scientists, Morton and Woman catch a metroid in
capsule, Scientists are attacked by small swarm of metroids
while fleeing to ship, Woman is separated from Morton and
killed by a metroid while Morton watches in horror, Morton
escapes on ship.

BACK TO PRESENT:

INT. MORTON'S OFFICE - NIGHT

Morton places glass on table, activates monitor on desk.

MORTON
Emotional wounds can be more
painful than physical wounds, but
the healing process is the same.

Glances at picture of Adam on wall.

MORTON
I'm truly sorry son, but too many
lives are at stake on this
station.

Morton looks down at monitor as it fizzles; image of HQ
Commander appears.

MORTON
This is James Morton on Ceres
Station. I have an urgent message
for the President.

EXT. PIRATE FRIGATE - NIGHT

Ship is at full stop.

INT. PIRATE FRIGATE - CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT

Pirates are stationed at different areas, performing tasks.
Close-up of one intercepting Morton's transmission.

G.F. COMMANDER 1 (V.O)
Keep the creature and Aran there.
I'll send a police cruiser there
right away. They'll handle the
problem when they arrive.

MORTON (V.O)
I understand.

The transmission ends and the Comm pirate growls in
excitement.

COMM PIRATE (SUBTITLED)
(Alien Language)
[Captain, we finally have some
good news for the general.]

INT. PIRATE FRIGATE - RIDLEY'S QUARTERS - NIGHT

RIDLEY rests on a pedestal rising up from ground. A beep
comes from door and it opens. PIRATE CAPTAIN enters slowly.

PIRATE CAPTAIN (SUBTITLED)
(Alien Language)
[General Ridley?]

RIDLEY (SUBTITLED)
(Alien Language)
[What is it?]

PIRATE CAPTAIN (SUBTITLED)
(Alien Language)
[We just intercepted a
transmission from a human station
called Ceres.]

RIDLEY (SUBTITLED)
(Alien Language)
[I hope, for your sake, you
discovered something useful.
Otherwise you'll be punished for
interrupting me.]

PIRATE CAPTAIN (SUBTITLED)
(Alien Language)
[The humans there are in
possession of the last metroid
from SR388.]

Ridley turns his head slightly.

RIDLEY (SUBTITLED)
(Alien Language)
[The last?]

PIRATE CAPTAIN (SUBTITLED)
(Alien Language)
[A space hunter known as Samus
Aran brought it to the station.
It's possible he wiped them out.]

RIDLEY (SUBTITLED)
(Alien Language)
[Do you have the coordinates to
this..Ceres?]

PIRATE CAPTAIN (SUBTITLED)
(Alien Language)
[Yes, General!]

RIDLEY (SUBTITLED)
(Alien Language)
[Excellent. This may be the
opening we've been looking for.
Get us there quickly.]

INT. CERES - TESTING ROOM - NIGHT

Adam sits in front of control board; Samus can be seen
through one-way mirror undressing. Adam glances at Samus
several times while working. Samus stands with arms folded
while still wearing her undergarments; Adam activates the
comm for x-ray room.

ADAM
Come on, Samus, the rest of your
garments too.

Samus gives the mirror a dirty look.

ADAM
Must we go through this every
time? The procedure is the same
regardless of your sex. Don't
expect special treatment.

INT. CERES - TESTING ROOM - EXAMINING TABLE - NIGHT

Samus turns around, removes her undergarments and stands
sideways while covering her private parts.

ADAM
Like I said, you know the
procedure. Whenever you're ready.

Samus lies on table next to her; the table slowly slides
into the wall.

INT. CERES - TESTING ROOM - CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT

Adam begins diagnostic; the monitor displays Samus's feet.
Camera slowly rises on Samus's body. SCIENTISTS 1 and 2 walk
in when monitor displays Samus's thighs.

G.F. SCIENTIST 1
Hey, Malkovich, you examining
Aran?

ADAM
(rolling eyes)
No, sir.

G.F. SCIENTIST 2
What are we blind, she's right
there.

ADAM
Then why ask, brainiac?

COMPUTER MONITOR

Both scientists stare at the monitor; it now displays
Samus's stomach.

ADAM
I wouldn't waste your time,
fellows.

G.F. SCIENTIST 2
No, I think we will.

G.F. SCIENTIST 1
Seriously, Malkovich, don't be
stingy.

Adam glances at the control board; the comm to the x-ray
room is still on.

ADAM
(grins)
It's not being stingy, I'm just
warning you. She has a sixth sense
guys; trust me, she knows you're
there.

Both scientists ignore Adam. Monitor displays Samus's chest;
Samus's right arm is covering her breasts and her middle
finger is extended. Both scientists scoff in disappointment
then turn to leave. Adam watches them then looks back at the
monitor.

SAMUS (V.O)
(Yells)
Perverts!

ADAM
See, aren't you glad I taught you
that?

SAMUS (V.O)
Yeah, yeah.

ADAM
Don't worry, I'll make this as
quick as possible before another
audience comes in.

SAMUS (V.O)
Yeah, thanks!

CONTROL AREA

Samus and Adam sit across from each other; Samus is clothed
and Adam is checking her blood pressure.

ADAM
And that should do it.

SAMUS
(Irritated)
Finally!

ADAM
(disappointed)
Oh, come on, you don't enjoy the
quality time we spend together?

Adam smiles at Samus, but she just leers at him.

SAMUS
Anymore tests you'd like to run?

ADAM
Well, there's plenty I'd like to
run, but as far's what I need,
we're done.

SAMUS
(stands up)
About time.

Adam reaches in his coat pocket and pull out a small case
with a disc.

ADAM
Here, grumpy, maybe this'll cheer
you up.

Adam holds out case, Samus grabs it.

SAMUS
And this is?

ADAM
It's for your ship's computer. I
was going to give it to you later,
but what the hell.

SAMUS
What's it for?

ADAM
It's a surprise, I think you'll
like it. Download that into your
computer when you get back to your
ship.

SAMUS
If you say so.

            MORTON
      (appears in
       doorway)
Hello, Adam. Ms. Aran.

ADAM
That's funny doc, I was just about
to call you.

SAMUS
Then, I'll leave you two alone to
do your work.

MORTON
Actually, Ms. Aran, there was
something I planned on showing
Adam here as it pertains to the
metroid. I think it's important
that I show you as well.

SAMUS
(sighs)
Whatever.

MORTON
And don't forget your little
friend.

INT. MORTON'S LAB - NIGHT

Samus, Adam and Morton enter lab. Different creatures are in
caged compartments. Morton walks to analyzing machine in the
center of the lab and begins typing on one of several
monitors attached to it.

MORTON
Ms. Aran, if you would be so kind
as to place your canister in the
center of this machine.

INT. CONTAINMENT FIELD - NIGHT

Samus removes cloth and places canister in machine. An
energy field suddenly appears around canister; Samus jumps
back and leers at Morton.

MORTON
Sorry about that, Ms. Aran.

SAMUS
Yeah, a warning would have been
nice.

ADAM
(snickers)
Sorry...

SAMUS
Shut up.

Samus looks at Morton.

SAMUS
Do I really have to be here for
this? Don't you have tests to run?

MORTON
My dear, this is a test.

ADAM
I don't understand, doc. What kind
of test are you going to run.

MORTON
Well, both of you know what
metroids can do, but have either
of you ever actually seen it?

ADAM
I haven't! You have, right Samus?

SAMUS
No, I haven't.

ADAM
Really? After two missions?

SAMUS
I was the only one around when I
fought them on Zebes.

ADAM
And SR388?

SAMUS
There weren't a lot of creatures
on that planet either.

MORTON
Well then, this will be a learning
experience for both of you.

HOLDING COMPARTMENT

Morton walks to a random compartment listed "TSUMARI"; he
reaches into the compartment and pulls out Tsumuri and
places it on the analyzing machine.

MORTON
This creature here was found on
SR388 during my original visit. It
was one of the few beings of life
my team found, besides that.
(Points to metroid)

SAMUS
What's wrong with it?

ADAM
It looks terrible.

MORTON
That remains a mystery. This
creature's life signs seemed
normal at first, but its health
has steadily decreased since it
was brought here. I believe I've
detected a virus in the creature.

ADAM
What kind of virus?

MORTON
None I've ever seen before.

SAMUS
That's convenient!

MORTON
I've tried to counteract it, but
there's nothing more that I can do
for it.

SAMUS
So, you're just goanna feed it to
the metroid.

MORTON
I would prefer not to, but it's
already slated for termination. At
least this way there's a
scientific purpose.

SAMUS
If you say so.

CONTAINMENT FIELD

The energy field at center of machine disappears and is
replaced with a larger one that contains both creatures.

MORTON
Adam, could you remove the
canister?

ADAM
Sure thing.

Adam begins typing on another monitor, then two metallic
arms descend from top of machine. The arms pass through the
energy field and open both canisters. Tsumuri doesn't move,
but Metroid immediately floats up.

MORTON
I'm going to warn you both, it's
not a pretty sight.

SAMUS
We'll see.

Metroid darts toward Tsumuri and attaches itself to it.
Tsumuri's color quickly fades, then it crumbles into dust
under Metroid's grip. Adam and Samus stare in horror.

SAMUS
So, how is that a test?

MORTON
In theory, these creatures consume
life energy instead of matter,
feeding off their prey's life
source; if that's so, there should
be no virus presence whatsoever.

ADAM
How are they able to float like
that?

MORTON
Metroids can defy gravity by using
kinetic energy, stored in their
bodies.

SAMUS
What about reproduction if there
are no beta rays used?

MORTON
Metroids are asexual; they
reproduce via division, much like
a cell undergoing mitosis.

ADAM
How do you stop them?

MORTON
The only real weakness we know of,
thanks to Ms. Aran, is extreme
sensitivity to cold temperatures.

SAMUS
I've heard enough. I'm out of
here.

ADAM
You sure you don't want to see
more?

Samus angrily storms out.

ADAM
Samus?

MORTON
I'm sorry, but is she ever not in
a bad mood.

ADAM
In the time I've known her? No.

MORTON
Well, shall we continue?

ADAM
Yes, of course.

INT. SAMUS'S SHIP - NIGHT

Samus sits in the pilot seat staring angrily into space.
After a moment Samus pulls Adam's disc out of her suit
pocket and looks at it.

SAMUS
Surprise, huh?

MONITOR

Samus stands, pulls disc out of container and slips into the
ship's mainframe. The monitor comes to life and a loading
bar appears.

SAMUS
(Irritated)
Figures! Just like him to keep me
waiting.

BACK OF SHIP

Samus walks over to the bed in back of the ship and lies
down. Samus stares at ceiling and falls asleep.

DREAM:

EXT. K2-L (2058) - DAY

Space pirates kill all humans in sight. Samus as a child
watches the carnage in shock, then turns her attention to a
huge creature, but only a black shadow can be seen. Old
Woman runs over to Samus and pushes her away. A blast of
fire emanates from black shadow and engulfs Woman. Man runs
in and snatches up Samus, but a tail pierces his chest. Man
drops Samus and falls to the ground. The tail detaches from
Man, wraps around Samus's throat, and lifts her off the
ground. The tail squeezes tighter until Samus falls limp,
then it throws her into the side of a human hut.

DREAM ENDS:

INT. SAMUS SHIP - NIGHT

Samus wakes suddenly, wide-eyed and riddled with sweat; she
slowly sits up and wipes her forehead with her left hand. A
beep goes off from pilot's chair; Samus sighs and walks over
to it. She activates the comm.

SAMUS
Find anything "interesting", Adam.

MORTON
Apologies, Ms. Aran; Adam is
occupied at the moment. He
requests your presence in the lab.

SAMUS
Fine, I'll be there in a minute.

MORTON
Thank you dear.

Samus turns off the comm, sits the in pilot's chair, and
glances at the monitor. The loading of Adam's program is
roughly thirty percent done. Samus shakes her head, stands
up, and turns to leave the ship.

EXT. ASTEROID BELT - NIGHT

Pirate frigate suddenly appears on the outskirts of the
asteroid belt.

INT. PIRATE FRIGATE - CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT

Captain is in his seat and opens a comm to Ridley's
chambers.

PIRATE CAPTAIN (SUBTITLED)
(Alien language)
[General Ridley, we're at the
coordinates, but this Ceres looks
to be located in an asteroid
field.]

RIDLEY (V.O) (SUBTITLED)
(Alien language)
[We won't be able to use sensors
to pinpoint their location.]

PIRATE CAPTAIN (SUBTITLED)
(Alien language)
[What do you suggest, General?]

RIDLEY (V.O) (SUBTITLED)
(Alien language)
[The dropships! Get three teams
ready and have them meet me in the
hanger immediately.]

PIRATE CAPTAIN (SUBTITLED)
(Alien language)
[As you wish, General.]

INT. CERES LAB HALLWAY - MORTON'S LAB - NIGHT

room; Adam is next to monitoring station, cuffed.

SAMUS
Just shut up. Not interested in
your lies.

Soldier 2 walks Samus next to Adam.

INT. MORTON'S OFFICE - DOOR - NIGHT

TAILOR DONOVAN appears in lab doorway.

DONOVAN
At ease everyone.

Great, things just got better.

MORTON
Tailor, what are you doing here?

DONOVAN
Well, as the president's personal
assistant...

Donovan slowly walks toward Samus.

DONOVAN
That'll be quite enough of that
Aran. You're skating on very thin
ice as it is. Let's not make
things worse for ourselves, shall

SAMUS
How's your nose, you little

DONOVAN
(frowns)
Fixed, no thanks to you.

SAMUS
Too bad. I'll hit harder next

DONOVAN

DONOVAN
Well, ever since she embarrassed
me and insulted my boss, I've had

DONOVAN
Does it really matter?

SAMUS
Damn right it does.

DONOVAN
I beg to differ. There's not much
you can do about it anyway, being
under arrest and all.

Samus struggles while looking at Donovan angrily.

You see Aran, just because you're
not willing to cooperate with the
Federation, doesn't mean your
friends aren't.

SAMUS
They are not my friends!

DONOVAN
Mmmm. Anyway, finding out you are
heading to Ceres means nothing to
me. However, the fact that you had
something special to show
Malkovich here...

Donovan gestures to Adam.

DONOVAN
...that's something worth
investigating.

MORTON
If the President didn't send you
here, then does he even know about
this yet?

DONOVAN
Don't worry; he'll know soon
enough. After he reads my full
report, he'll crucify these two.

SAMUS

DONOVAN
Don't act stupid, Aran. Your

Yes, Malkovich you heard me right.
She failed! If she had succeeded,
then that abomination wouldn't be
sitting in the middle of Morton's

DONOVAN
Quit being a smart-ass! It's just
a hideous creature.

SAMUS
It's called a metroid, you weasel.

DONOVAN
I don't care what the hell it's

Donovan walks around the room with his arms behind his back.

DONOVAN
So what, pray tell, were the
intentions of the great Samus
Aran? Use the, "metroid", as a
bioweapon against the Federation?

Samus doesn't answer.

DONOVAN
Perhaps strike a deal with the
pirates.

SAMUS
I'll never work with those slimy
bastards.

DONOVAN
Then why all the secrecy?

ADAM
No Federation officials would have
given clearance to study it.

DONOVAN
True, but it's still too
suspicious for my taste.

Samus doesn't respond.

DONOVAN
This conversation isn't going
anywhere. How about you Malkovich?
Why is it here? Why study it?

Adam glances at Samus but she ignores him.

ADAM
To see if there's a way for its
energy to be harnessed for the
good of the Federation. With all
of them gone, any answers go with
them.

DONOVAN
That's good to know. I'll be sure
to pass this information onto the
President when I see him, but it
won't help your cause. You'll all
be put on ice: Aran, Malkovich and
your floating friend.

Samus tries to attack Donovan. Soldiers 1 and 2 are quick to
stop her.

DONOVAN
Shit! You have got to be the
feistiest woman I've ever met..

Donovan walks closer to Samus and gets right in her face.

DONOVAN
...but I like that. You know, if
you're willing to cooperate with
me, maybe do me a favor, I might
be able to persuade the President

Morton scoffs while Adam rolls his eyes. Samus stares coldly
into Donovan's eyes.

You have no idea how badly I wanna

DONOVAN

player. That's too bad.

Donovan gestures to Soldier 1.

DONOVAN
Put her in the cell wing.
Malkovich too.

EXT. MORTON'S LAB - NIGHT

Both soldiers take their individual prisoner out of the lab.

INT. MORTON'S LAB - NIGHT

Donovan walks closer to Morton.

DONOVAN
Dr. Morton, on behalf of the
President, I'd like to personally
thank you for your assistance in
this matter.

MORTON
If memory serves, I called the
Federation police, not you.

DONOVAN
Now, now, no need to get testy.

Donovan turns his attention to Metroid.

DONOVAN
Such an ugly, yet fascinating
creature this, metroid. The only
question now is what to do with
it.

INT. CERES - PRISON CELL - NIGHT

Samus sits quietly on ground. Adam stands nervously in front
of cell, and glances at Samus. Adam walks toward Samus and
tries to speak.

SAMUS
(Irritated voice)
Shut up!

Adam hesitates, then tries again.

ADAM
I..

SAMUS
I'm warning you, I'm not in the
mood.

Adam hesitates again, but can't help himself.

ADAM
I told you this was going to
happen, didn't I? From the
start...

Adam rants while Samus rolls her eyes and stands up. Samus
recoils her right hand and punches Adam in the nose. Adam
staggers into the wall, then notices he's bleeding.

SAMUS
(Sits back down)
I warned you!

ADAM
(hand over nose)
Thank you very much, sweetheart!
It's not enough that you ruin both
my career and my life with one
swing, but you break my nose with
the other.

SAMUS
Just leave me alone.

ADAM
I can see now that metal suit of
yours protects you from more than
just pirate blasts. Dammit Samus,
I try to help you and what do I
get in return?

Samus doesn't answer.

ADAM
Exactly, nothing. I would expect
at least a thank you for my
effort, but no, that'd be too easy
for you, right?

SAMUS
Thank you? For what? If you'd kept
it a secret like I asked, Dr.
Backstabber wouldn't have called
the soldier wannabes.

ADAM
Don't blame this on me. There's no
way I could have kept this from
him forever.

SAMUS
Whatever!

ADAM
So that's it, huh? You sit there
all nonchalant about the
situation. Meanwhile, there's no
telling what propaganda Donovan is
planning to fill the President's
mind with. Then we'll both be
fried. And believe me, it's not a

SAMUS
I don't know why I brought the
metroid here. It was a mistake and

ADAM

Adam leers at Samus, grabs her head with both hands and
kisses her. She breaks the kiss, grabs Adam by his lab coat
and slams him into the wall.

SAMUS
Just who the hell do you think you

ADAM
(smiling)
That was probably your first kiss,
wasn't it?

Samus slams Adam into the wall again.

SAMUS
Why did you do that?

ADAM
To see if there's blood or ice
running through your heart.

Samus relinquishes her grip and turns her back to Adam.

ADAM
Samus, what's wrong. You can talk
to me.

SAMUS
No, I can't. I can't trust anyone.

ADAM
Your not in that suit! It's okay
to show your emotions, Samus.

SAMUS
(pauses)
You'll never leave me alone, will
you?

ADAM
No! The only way I'll stop is if
you kill me, and I don't believe
you'd go that far.

Samus looks at Adam.

ADAM
(nervously)
At least, I hope you wouldn't.

Samus slowly sits down.

SAMUS
My parents are dead.

ADAM
(shock)
What? How?

SAMUS
Pirates.

ADAM
When?

SAMUS
A really long time ago. My mother
was murdered right in front of me.

ADAM
Damn, I'm sorry, Samus.

Adam and Samus sit silently for a few seconds.

ADAM
So, what happened afterward. Where
did you grow up?

SAMUS
Zebes.

ADAM
Zebes? How? With whom?

SAMUS
The Chozo. They found me and
raised me on the planet for the
rest of my childhood.

EXT. ZEBES - TRAINING GROUNDS (2065) - DAY

Samus, roughly seven years old, runs along an obstacle
course performing several forms of acrobatics while her
Chozo Guardian watches. Samus then stops in front of Chozo
Guardian to catch her breath.

CHOZO GUARDIAN (SUBTITLED)
(Chozo language)
[Your skills are growing faster
than expected. In time you'll be
ready.]

YOUNG SAMUS (SUBTITLED)
(Chozo language)
[Ready? Ready for what? To this
day you haven't told me what all
of this is for. I'll never use any
of these skills.]

CHOZO GUARDIAN (SUBTITLED)
(Chozo language)
[Oh, you will Samus; in time. Just
be patient-soon you'll understand
your destiny.]

Chozo Guardian walks towards Samus and wipes some dirt off
of her face.

CHOZO GUARDIAN (SUBTITLED)

[You mean more to the Chozo than
you know, Samus. We need to make
sure you're properly trained for
your destiny to begin.]

Samus runs off while Chozo Guardian watches with a worried
expression on his face.

BACK TO PRESENT:

INT. CERES STATION - PRISON CELL - NIGHT

SAMUS
I already hated the pirates my
entire life, but after that night
I began to not like the Chozo too.

ADAM
I can't blame you.

Adam walks over to Samus and sits next to her.

ADAM
Do you know what happened to the
Chozo? I'm guessing you didn't
find any of them on your recent
visit to Zebes?

SAMUS
No. A few weeks after that night I
took my suit and ship, then left
the planet.

ADAM
(shock)
Took? As in you stole them? Well,
I'll be damned! The great Samus
Aran is a great thief.

Samus gives Adam a sideways glance and smiles.

SAMUS
Yeah...

Adam leans in closer to Samus.

ADAM
Oh, so she can smile?

SAMUS
(smile stays)
Shut up!

ADAM
I can keep that a secret too if
you want.

SAMUS
(sighs)
Did I really break your nose?

ADAM
Nah, I've had worse. Besides, you
hit like a girl.

SAMUS
Why you...

Samus recoils to punch Adam again but he stops her.

ADAM
Relax Samus, that's what we humans
call a joke.

Samus smiles and hits Adam lightly on the shoulder. Adam
returns the favor. Both briefly exchange hits playfully
until they're looking in each others eyes, then they kiss.
After a few seconds, Samus stops Adam.

SAMUS
Wait, it's really hot in here all
of a sudden.

ADAM
Don't worry, that's perfectly
normal!

Adam kisses Samus again.

INT. CERES STATION - CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT

Commander walks around room checking on various officers at
different stations, then notices Officer 1.

G.F. COMMANDER 2
You all right there, Officer?

G.F. OFFICER 2
(Saluting)
Sir.

The G.F. Commander 2 starts to walk away but he notices
something out in space.

G.F. COMMANDER 2
What is that?

G.F. OFFICER 2
What?

G.F. Commander 2 points towards the asteroids.

G.F. COMMANDER 2
That, in the distance. You see it?

G.F. OFFICER 2
Yes sir, let's see.

G.F. Officer 2 starts typing on console in front of him and
the monitor zeros in on the object.

G.F. COMMANDER 2
Increase magnification.

G.F. Officer 2 complies. Image of pirate ship can be seen on
monitor.

Oh no, is that...

G.F. COMMANDER 2
(Shouting forward)
A god damn pirate ship. Contact
the Federation police on board,
quickly!

G.F. OFFICER 2
Right away, sir.

INT. MORTON'S OFFICE - NIGHT

Morton and Donovan are talking; Soldier 1 runs in.

G.F. SOLDIER 1
(Interrupting)
Sir. We have a serious problem.

DONOVAN
What is it?

G.F. SOLDIER 1
A pirate ship has been spotted a
few kilometers out and closing.

Donovan jumps out of his chair.

DONOVAN
What? That's impossible, how...

Donovan points at Morton.

DONOVAN
...your transmission. It's the
only way.

MORTON
If so, then the pirates must know
about the metroid.

G.F. SOLDIER 1
We're initiating emergency
protocols to get as many people
out as possible.

Donovan kicks Morton's desk.

DONOVAN
Damn Aran for bringing that thing
here. Soldier, go to the prison
wing and release Malkovich. Take
(MORE)

MORTON
Wait, what about Ms. Aran?

DONOVAN
I doubt the President will be
disappointed if she happens not to
make it off this station.

G.F. SOLDIER 1

DONOVAN

I have to agreed with him. After
everything she's done for the
Federation, she shouldn't be left
behind. The very least she
deserves is a fair trial.

DONOVAN
Your field is science, Doctor;
leave the politics to me.

Donovan points at G.F. Soldier 1.

DONOVAN
You have your orders, Soldier.

G.F Soldier 1 hesitates, then leaves. Donovan turns to look
at Morton.

DONOVAN
Now, what to do with Aran's little
friend.

The room rumbles suddenly; Morton falls hard on his desk
while Donovan is sent to the ground.

INT. PRISON WING - PRISON CELL - NIGHT

Samus and Adam are still kissing, but Samus pulls away after
cell rumbles slightly.

ADAM
Now what?

SAMUS
You feel that?

ADAM
You know I did.

SAMUS
Not that, I felt the room rumble.

ADAM
I didn't feel anything...

The cell rumbles again.

ADAM
...Okay, that I felt!

Samus and Adam both quickly get to their feet and walk to
the bars.

SAMUS
Damn.

ADAM
Pirates?

SAMUS
Gotta be.

ADAM
You think they know about the
metroid?

SAMUS
Don't know, but we have to get out
of here. I need my suit.

ADAM
(puzzled)
You don't have a plan?

SAMUS
Give me a break, Adam, I'm a
hunter, not a miracle worker.

ADAM
I'm sure you'll think of
something. No pressure, though.

SAMUS
Yeah, thanks.

INT. CERES STATION - CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT

Commander 2 looks out into space-several Pirate ships close
in on Ceres. Commander 2 opens a station-wide comm.

G.F. COMMANDER 2
Everyone, evacuate immediately.
We're under attack by pirates.
This is not a drill. Evacuate
immediately.

EXT. PIRATE DROPSHIP - NIGHT

Several laser blasts are fired at Ceres; one hits close to
the control room.

INT. CERES STATION - CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT

Laser impact's send Commander and Officers to the floor.

INT. HANGAR BAY - NIGHT

A Pirate dropship enters the hangar bay and lands; numerous
women and children scream in terror. The ship's ramp lowers
and Pirates pour out. Federation Soldiers attack Pirates
while the other drop ships land. Ridley appears from his
ship and observes the carnage, then he turns and faces the
Pirates.

RIDLEY (SUBTITLED)
(Alien language)
[Get to it.]

Majority of Federation Soldiers are killed quickly as
multiple Pirates begin to leave hangar bay to other areas on
Ceres.

INT. MORTON'S OFFICE - NIGHT

Morton and Donovan begin to move; Donovan gets to his feet.

DONOVAN
You all right, Doctor? Can you get
up at all.

Morton tries to move but a crack is heard in his leg. Morton
screams in pain.

DONOVAN
I'll take that as a no. Now what?
I can't carry you; you're heavier
than me.

MORTON
How comforting of you. You need to
find help.

DONOVAN
I'll see what I can do.

Donovan runs out the office door.

MORTON
What have I done?

INT. PRISON WING - PRISON CELL - NIGHT

Samus and Adam stand in the front of the cell.

ADAM
Any ideas yet?

SAMUS
That question's really getting on
my nerves.

Soldier 1 enters the hallway.

ADAM
Finally, there's the help we've
been waiting for.

Soldier 1 stops in front of cell and unlocks the door.

G.F. SOLDIER 1
Malkovich, you're coming with me.

ADAM
(confused)
What? What about her?

G.F. SOLDIER 1
I'm not authorized to release her,
just you. She stays.

ADAM
Like hell she does.

G.F. SOLDIER 1
I don't have time to argue. Those
are my orders.

SAMUS
Screw your orders!

ADAM
We're humans, not Pirates. You
can't just leave her behind. She's
been fighting them for years now;
she can help us.

G.F. SOLDIER 1
From what I can see, she's nothing
without her suit.

SAMUS
(frustrated)
I could kick your ass.

Adam stops Samus.

ADAM
You're not helping.

Adam looks back at G.F. Soldier 1.

ADAM
Look, leaving her here is inhumane
and you know it.

Soldier 1 sighs and shakes his head.

G.F. SOLDIER 1
All right, you have a point. I
didn't want to leave her here
anyway. Let's go, quickly.

Soldier 1 runs in the direction he came from. Samus and Adam
follow him.

INT. MORTON'S OFFICE - NIGHT

Morton is on the ground crawling to a cabinet next to the
door. Footsteps are heard from outside of room.

G.F. DOCTOR 1 (V.O)
Dr. Morton, where are you?

MORTON
Yes, yes I'm in here. In my
office.

Doctor 1 and 2 enter the office.

G.F. DOCTOR 2
Doctor, are you all right?

MORTON
Not really, my leg's broken. We
need to leave before the pirates
find their way here. Help me.

Doctor 2 helps Morton to his feet.

MORTON
Wait, there's a weapon in the
cabinet. We'll need it.

Doctor 1 walks to cabinet, opens it, pulls out a laser
weapon, and returns to help Morton.

MORTON
Come on, take me to my office.
There's something else we have to
grab before we leave.

EXT. MORTON'S OFFICE - NIGHT

G.F. Doctors help Morton out of his office.

INT. LAB HALLWAY - NIGHT

Morton and G.F. Doctors are outside Morton's lab. Morton
points at the Metroid inside the lab.

MORTON
Grab the creature; the pirates are
here to steal it. We can't let
them have it.

G.F. DOCTOR 1
Yes sir.

INT. MORTON'S LAB - NIGHT

Both G.F Doctors lean Morton against the wall and run to the
canister holding Metroid. Suddenly, the windows in the lab
shatter, sending Morton to the ground and Doctors to their

knees. Ridley enters the room and kills both Doctors with
his tail. Ridley see Metroid and walks toward it.

MORTON
Damn it! Not again.

Morton sees the laser weapon in front of him and crawls
toward it. Ridley grabs canister with Metroid with his tail
and turns to leave the lab. Morton grabs the weapon and
shoots Ridley in the chest. Ridley stops and turns his head
toward Morton. Morton squeezes off a few more shots, but
they leave minium damage.

RIDLEY (SUBTITLED)
(Alien Language)
[You should have left well enough
alone, human.]

Ridley grabs canister with his left claw and uses his tail
to knock the laser weapon out of Morton's hand. Ridley walks
to Morton and stands over him.

RIDLEY (SUBTITLED)
(Alien Language)
[Then again, your kind is always
getting in our way.]

Ridley lifts his right claw and stomps Morton's back.

INT. CERES STATION - MAIN CORRIDOR - NIGHT

G.F Soldier 1, Samus and Adam run down the corridor and come
to another hallway. Soldier 1 and Adam turn left but Samus
turns right. Soldier 1 notices and trains his gun on Samus.

G.F. SOLDIER 1
Aran, stop. Where do you think
you're going?

Samus stops running and turns to face Soldier 1.

SAMUS
To get my suit.

G.F. SOLDIER 1
Can't let you do that. Pirates
have entered the station and are
in that direction.

Soldier 1 gestures in Samus's direction.

G.F. SOLDIER 1
You'll have better chance of
survival if you come to my ship.

SAMUS
My property is in that direction,
and even those slimy bastards
won't keep me from it.

Adam notices two Pirates over Samus's shoulder at the end of
the hall.

ADAM
Samus, look out behind you.

Samus turns to see the Pirates, then runs toward Adam and
G.F. Soldier 1.

SAMUS
Shit!

G.F. Soldier 1 stands in front of Samus and Adam while
training his gun in Pirate's direction.

G.F. SOLDIER 1
Get down, both of you.

INT. CORRIDOR HALLWAY - NIGHT

Samus and Adam crouch around the corner. Soldier 1 fires and
takes down Pirate 1. Pirate 2 aims and shoots at Soldier 1
with a weapon on it's arm. Soldier 1 is hit in the chest and
falls to the ground while Pirate 2 laughs. Samus grabs
Soldier 1's gun from the ground.

SAMUS
Stay down, I'll take care of this.

ADAM
Wait, have you ever fought a
pirate without your suit before?

SAMUS
Doesn't matter!

Samus stands, fires on Pirate 2, and disables its weapon. It
snarls in anger and walks toward Samus. She tries to shoot
again but the gun locks up; she throws the gun against the
wall.

SAMUS
Damn it all, it figures...

Samus looks at Adam.

SAMUS
...this may take a minute.

Samus runs toward Pirate 2 and uses her acrobatic skills
against it. Samus defeats Pirate 2, but gets her stomach
mildly slashed during the fray. Adam runs to Samus's side.

ADAM
You all right?

SAMUS
I'll be fine. It's just a scratch.

PIRATE 2 COMM (V.O) (SUBTITLED)
(Alien language)
[General Ridley, the charges are
in place.]

Samus looks at Pirate 2's body.

RIDLEY (SUBTITLED)
(Alien language)
[Excellent. I have what we came
for. Everyone return to your
ships.
Now!]

PIRATE 2 COMM (V.O) (SUBTITLED)
(Alien language)
[Yes, General Ridley.]

SAMUS
(translating)
Ridley!

ADAM
Who the hell is Ridley?

SAMUS
I'll tell you later. They going to
blow up the station, and they have
the metroid. Let's go.

ADAM
I'll catch up with you.

SAMUS
What? Where the hell are you
going?

ADAM
The lab. I have to make sure Dr.
Morton made it out.

SAMUS
You're freaking kidding me! He
betrays us, and you wanna help
him?

ADAM
Hey, he didn't mean anything by
it, he was just trying to protect
everyone on the station.

SAMUS
Yeah, a lot of help that was.

ADAM
Regardless of what he did, he's an
important asset to the Federation.

SAMUS
You're a damn fool.

ADAM
I can't just abandon him, Samus.

SAMUS
Fine, do what you want. Just don't
get killed.

ADAM
Ha, that proves you care.

SAMUS
If you say so!

ADAM
I'll meet you back at your ship.

Samus raises her right arm in approval while running away
from Adam and turns a corner. Adam runs in the opposite
direction.

INT. MAIN DOCKING BAY - NIGHT

Numerous Pirates make their way to their respective ships
while some humans try to escape the station.

INT. LAB AREA HALLWAY - NIGHT

Adam walks slowly around some human bodies to get to
Morton's lab. He makes it and walks through the door.

INT. MORTON'S LAB - NIGHT

Adam sees more bodies then realizes one of them is Morton.
Adam runs to Morton's side and sees blood splattered across
his chest.

ADAM
(kneeling)
Dr. Morton? You don't look so
good.

Morton slowly opens his eyes.

MORTON
(coughing up blood)
I've been better.

ADAM
I'm not sure how to get you out of
here.

MORTON
Don't bother. I'm already dying.
My punishment for causing this
chaos.

ADAM
Don't say that, I can't just leave
you here.

MORTON
You have no choice. Tell Samus..
I'm sorry.

Morton dies. Adam lowers his head while tears run down his
face. Footsteps can be heard outside the lab, but Adam
ignores them. G.F. Soldier 2 appears in the door.

You! Are you injured.

ADAM
No.

G.F. Soldier 2 quickly walks to Adam's side and lifts him to
his feet.

Then get up we need
to...Malkovich? Where have you
been? My partner was supposed to
bring you to our ship already.

ADAM
Ran into some trouble. Your
partners dead.

G.F. SOLDIER 2
Shit! I need to get you out of
here.

G.F. Soldier 2 drags Adam out of the lab.

INT. DOCKING BAY - NIGHT

Pirates are entering a dropship while the other ships get
airborne and leave the docking bay. Suddenly, Ridley flies
in with the canister in his tail, takes a look around then
gestures to nearby Pirate.

RIDLEY (SUBTITLED)
(Alien language)
[Is everyone here?]

PIRATE 3 (SUBTITLED)
(Alien language)
[As far as I know General. Only a
few of us were defeated.]

Samus enters the bay, sees Ridley holding Metroid, grabs
another nearby soldier's gun, and shoots at Ridley. The
blast passes Ridley's face by inches. Ridley turns and sees
Samus with the gun trained on him.

SAMUS (SUBTITLED)
(Alien language)
[General Ridley.]

Ridley squints his eyes at Samus.

RIDLEY
(English)
You! How can you speak our
language? I've...seen you before.

SAMUS
You got that right.

RIDLEY
(English)
No, it can't be. You're the human
child I left behind on the human
colony so many years ago.

SAMUS
Drop the metroid, now!

RIDLEY
(English)
You are in no position to give me
orders. I'm very disappointed. I
was hoping for the hunter's
retaliation, but all the humans
have is a hot-tempered woman. How
sad.

SAMUS
What'll really be sad is your face
after I blow it off!

RIDLEY
(English)
Afraid not. As much as I would
love to finish what I started
years go, I have places to be.
Give your precious metal-clad
hunter a message: if he wants this
back, he'll know where to find me.
Goodbye, brave one.

Ridley holds up a detonator and pushes the button. Ridley
walks into his ship and the ramp closes. The ship flies out
of the Ceres. Samus watches, then hears a beeping sound from
behind her. Samus turns and sees a time bomb against a wall
with less than three minutes left.

SAMUS
Damn it all. Adam, you better be
waiting for me.

INT. GALACTIC FEDERATION SHIP - CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT

G.F. Soldier 2 brings Adam into room and sits him down in a
chair.

G.F. SOLDIER 2
I found Malkovich sir.

G.F. CAPTAIN 1
Where the hell is Donovan?

Several large laser blasts are fired at Ceres.

The impact of the blast knocks everyone off balance.

INT. CERES STATION - DOCKING BAY B - NIGHT

Samus runs through entrance and sees no sign of Adam.

SAMUS
(angry)
Dammit, Adam, where are you?

The laser blast impact makes Samus lose her balance; some of
the ceiling falls in front of the bay entrance. Samus looks
at the rubble.

SAMUS
No! Noo!

Samus angrily kicks the debris, but it doesn't budge.

SAMUS
Adam, why'd you have to be a hero?

Samus turns and runs to her ship, jumps on the front, then
somersaults to the top. Samus stands on the still-active
platform and it lowers her into the ship.

INT. GALACTIC FEDERATION SHIP - CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT

Everyone gets back to their feet and their seats. G.F Pilots
1 and 2 try to get the ship airborne.

G.F. PILOT 1
Sir, we have a problem. The
engines are malfunctioning.

G.F. CAPTAIN 1
Then fix it! I don't care if
someone has to go outside and
blast it or hit it with a hammer.

G.F. PILOT 2
Working on it, sir!

INT. SAMUS'S SHIP - NIGHT

Samus jumps in the pilot's chair and activates the controls.

EXT. DOCKING BAY B - SAMUS'S SHIP - NIGHT

The ship rises up, turns, and leaves the docking bay.

EXT. SAMUS'S SHIP - NIGHT

Samus's ship flies away from Ceres.

INT. SAMUS'S SHIP - NIGHT

Samus pushes a few buttons; image of Ceres station appears
on the monitor.

INT. GALACTIC FEDERATION SHIP - CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT

G.F. Pilots 1 and 2 continue to try to get the engines
working. Adam looks out of a window and sees Samus's ship
speeding away. Adam smiles.

ADAM
You can't get rid of me that
easily, Samus.

INT. SAMUS'S SHIP - NIGHT

Samus stares at the monitor; a series of explosions occur
throughout Ceres, faster and faster, until station explodes.
Samus falls back in her chair and lowers her head.

EXT. SAMUS'S SHIP - NIGHT

Ship flies out of the asteroid belt; remnants of the
explosion are seen in the distance.

INT. SAMUS'S SHIP - NIGHT

Samus hasn't budged; she finally stands and stumbles around
the ship. Samus enters a furious state-throwing random
objects around, and yelling madly in the process. Samus
stops and stares at her helmet mounted on the wall; she
grabs it, throws it, and falls to the ground behind the
pilot's chair.

CLOSE UP OF MONITOR

The downloading screen reappears on monitor; it finally
finishes. Then a digitalized version of Adam's face appears.
It notices Samus behind chair, upset.

ADAM
Oh, come on now, things aren't
that bad are they?

SAMUS
(looks around)
Adam, is that you?

ADAM
That's what I like about you,
Samus; you always figure things
out on your own.

She stands and looks around again, then turns her attention
to the compartments in back of the ship.

ADAM
Samus, you're so cold right now
it's a wonder you're not turning
blue.

Samus faces the front of the ship and sees Adam's face on
the monitor.

SAMUS
Adam?

ADAM
Bingo, you're really sharp today.

SAMUS
What is this; how is this
possible?

ADAM
This is a personality program. I
mimic Adam's personality
perfectly.

Samus's sad expression doesn't change. Adam watches closely.

ADAM
Your know, from your lack of
conversation and the look on your
face, I think something bad just
happened.

SAMUS
Yeah, you could say that.

ADAM
Well, come on, out with it.

SAMUS
(pauses)
Ceres is gone, destroyed! And as
far as I know, you're dead.

Adam's silent for a second.

ADAM
Oh, that....sucks.

She slowly nods.

SAMUS
Yeah.

INT. PIRATE FRIGATE - RIDLEY'S CHANBERS - NIGHT

Ridley looks down at the canister lodged in his foot, and he
contacts High Command.

[What's your status?]

[We got the metroid, and Ceres is
no more.]

Ridley growls with excitement.

INT. SAMUS'S SHIP - NIGHT

Samus is seated in the pilot's chair with her head down.

ADAM
So, what are you going to do?

SAMUS
What do you mean?

ADAM
I mean Ridley kidnapping the
metroid. You know what he'll do
with it. I'm surprised you're not
jumping on this.

            SAMUS
      (pounding fist
       into hand)
Trust me, I'd love another shot at
him with my suit on.

ADAM
Then why aren't you doing anything
about it?

SAMUS
Why should I? The Federation
arrested me, and they were going
to leave me behind. The only thing
that saved me was you and a grunt
with a conscience.

ADAM
Maybe, but in the end, you're the
one who took the metroid there in
the first place. And you can't
deny that.

Samus leans back and sighs.

ADAM
You know you're the only one
equipped for the job. Besides,
Ridley called you out. I know you;
you can't pass up a challenge like
that.

Samus slowly looks at the monitor.

SAMUS
You do have a point there.

ADAM
Come on, let's go and, as you
would say, bust his ass.

Samus cracks a small smile.

SAMUS
Well, when you put it like that!
Why not?

ADAM
That's my girl! Now, any idea
where the good general is heading?

SAMUS
He said the "hunter" would know
where to find him. That can only
be Zebes.

ADAM
But how can that be? You blew up
the base not that long ago.
There's no way they could get it
up and running that quickly.

SAMUS
I wouldn't bet on that either..
(whispers) ...unless they're using
old underground passages that
already existed.

ADAM
How's that?

SAMUS
Growing up, there were places
underground that I was "forbidden"
to go. "Only when you're ready",
whatever that hell that meant.

ADAM
Well, that's at least a
possibility; gives you a place to
begin your search when you arrive.
But at least this time you've got
me.

SAMUS
Why is that good?

ADAM
Oh thanks a lot.

SAMUS
See, you're always telling me to
lighten up. That was a joke.

ADAM
Well, well, Samus Aran finally
made a joke. There's hope for you
yet. Actually, I'm bonding with
the ship and learning about it and
your suit's abilities.

SAMUS
Fine. You do that and I'll get
dressed.

ADAM
I'll won't peek. Or will I?

Samus hits a button on the chair's right arm. The monitor
goes blank.

ADAM
Oh!, Come on!.

EXT. ZEBES - SPACE - NIGHT

After a few seconds, Samus's ship flies into orbit and
stops.

INT. SAMUS'S SHIP - NIGHT

Samus is in the pilot's chair wearing her suit and holding
her helmet in her left hand.

ADAM
Samus, you all right?

SAMUS
Just thinking. When I left last
time I told myself I never wanted
to come back. I hate being here
again.

ADAM
Too many memories?!

SAMUS
(Scoffs)
Memories are things you never want
to lose, a way of holding onto
things you love...things you are.

ADAM
At least you'll have help this
time around.

Samus turns her head towards the monitor.

SAMUS
How?

ADAM
Jeez, how about companionship.
You'll have someone to talk to.

SAMUS
I'm not used to chit-chat when I'm
on a mission, but at least I can
tolerate you.

ADAM
Gee, I feel so loved.

Samus smiles, laughs, than puts her helmet on.

ADAM
Oh, and activate scan mode for me.

Samus's voice changes to a more menacing, robotic voice.

SAMUS
Sure.

Samus raises her left hand and pushes a button on the left
side of the helmet.

P.O.V. - SAMUS'S VISOR

Samus's sight changes color and recticle appears in center
of view.

ADAM
Before, when you would use scan
mode, the ship's computer would
cipher through the known data and
you would read it. Now, after you
scan something, I'll tell you
exactly what you want to know in a
flash. I know you're not one for
patience.

SAMUS
Not in the heat of battle, no.

ADAM
I can also tap into your visor at
all times. What you see, I see.

SAMUS
That's it, that's all you can do?

ADAM
Your appreciation is staggering!
Shall we get started?

SAMUS
Fine.

Samus pushes a couple of buttons on the chair's arm.

EXT. SAMUS'S SHIP - NIGHT

Ship accelerates and heads into the atmosphere.

INT. SAMUS'S SHIP - DAY

ADAM
Any idea where to start?

SAMUS
Not where I left off last time.
Look, it's still a crater.

Samus points at a mile-wide crater on the surface.

ADAM
Hmm. I see what you mean. What
about those underground passages
you mentioned?

SAMUS
Way ahead of you.

EXT. SAMUS'S SHIP - DAY

Ship speeds closer to surface, which resembles a barren
wasteland. Ship hovers above the surface, and comes to a
stop. The top-hatch opens and the platform rises with Samus
on it. She crouches and somersaults ten feet in the air and
lands in front of the ship. Samus takes a look around.

SAMUS
Doesn't look anything like it did
when I lived here.

ADAM
Where are we?

SAMUS
Training grounds.

ADAM
Ah, so this is where you learned
your fancy tricks. Wait, wait.

SAMUS
What's wrong, you catch a virus
already?

ADAM
No, I'm picking up some powerful
readings underneath us.

SAMUS
What kind of readings?

ADAM
The readings are Chozo in origin,
no question about it.

Samus starts walking toward a huge rock formation.

SAMUS
No kidding? You have the exact
locations?

ADAM
Only to a degree; the best I can
do is point you in the right
direction. It'll be up to you to
find them. Sorry samus.

SAMUS
I'll take what I can get.

Samus gets closer to the rock formation and finds an energy
blast door.

ADAM
Are these the doors you told me
about when you were here last
time?

SAMUS
Yeah.

Samus raises her arm cannon and blasts the door with her
power beam. Door opens up and Samus walks through it.

INT. ZEBES - CRATERIA - NIGHT

Samus passes through a dark tunnel.

ADAM
Interesting place.

SAMUS
It's terrible; it used to be a lot
more pleasant.

ADAM
I love the architecture though. I
wish I was alive to observe it up
close.

SAMUS
Always the scientist.

INT. PIRATE FRIGATE - RIDLEY'S CHAMBERS - NIGHT

Ridley sits on his pedestal and receives a transmission; he
uses his tail to activate the comm.

RIDLEY (SUBTITLED)

[Yes, Captain.]

[We've picked up a small vessel
touching down on Crateria. It's
the hunter's ship.]

The comm dies, and Ridley opens a comm to MOTHER BRAIN.

INT. CRATERIA - VERTICAL SHAFT - NIGHT

Samus is looking around the shaft.

ADAM
The closest set of readings is
directly below you. Your not far
away at all.

Samus jumps down to an area in front of a hole.

ADAM
There you have it: the readings
are in that direction.

SAMUS
You don't say!

ADAM
Do you think your morph ball will
fit?

SAMUS
I guess we'll find out.

ADAM
Just don't get stuck.

Samus rolls forward and her suit morphs into a shiny,
metallic ball, then rolls toward the hole and fits with
inches to spare.

INT. CRATERIA - NARROW PASSAGEWAY 1 - NIGHT

Samus rolls forward through several curves that are a
constant decline.

INT. CRATERIA - DARK CAVE - NIGHT

The ball appears from a hole in the ceiling and lands on a
soft rock pile, then morphs back to normal.

SAMUS
Not sure I'll ever get used to
that.

ADAM
Do I even want to ask how that
feels?

Samus sees a blast door in the distance and walks toward it.

SAMUS
No!

ADAM
Thought so.

Samus looks around, then notices a blast door with a pinkish
light emanating from the edge.

ADAM
That's different from the other
blast doors!

SAMUS
Yes; I've never seen one like this
before.

Samus activates scan mode and scans the door.

ADAM
Well, I'll be; it's a Chozo blast
shield, designed to be opened by a
missile.

SAMUS
That's easy enough.

Samus aims her cannon at the door and fires a missile; it
dissolves the door. Samus walks through the new opening.

INT. CRATERIA - ARTIFACT ROOM 1 - NIGHT

Once in the room Samus falls several feet and lands in a
crouch on the floor.

ADAM
This place is full of surprises,
isn't it.

SAMUS
No kidding. Including that.

Samus gestures to a chozo statue against the wall-it's in a
crouching position with it's arms extended and hands cupped
around a metal sphere.

ADAM
Have you ever seen anything like
that?

SAMUS
I saw statues like that on SR388,
but not with objects attached to
them.

ADAM
That's one of the readings I
picked up earlier.

SAMUS
I figured.

67.

ADAM
The question is, what is it?

SAMUS
Let's find out.

Samus blasts the ball with her power beam and the metal
melts away and to reveal an orange-colored ball of energy.

ADAM
Interesting!

Samus scans the ball and waits.

ADAM
Wow, it's an upgrade for your
suit.

SAMUS
An upgrade?

ADAM
It'll allow you to drop bombs
while you're in your ball form. No
offense, Samus, but I'm beginning
to think the Chozo are a bizarre
bunch.

SAMUS
What, just now?

Samus reaches out and grabs the orange ball; it melts into
her hand. Suddenly, the suit morphs into a ball, hovers in
the air, spins at a fast pace, then energy spurts out in all
directions. The suit morphs back to normal and Samus lands
lightly on the ground.

ADAM
Are you all right?

SAMUS
Never better.

Samus turns and walks back through the room's opening.

INT. CRATERIA - DARK CAVE 2 - NIGHT

ADAM
Now to find a way out of this
cave.

SAMUS
Can't go back the way I came.

Samus activates scan mode and looks around the room.

P.O.V. - SAMUS'S VISOR

Reticle comes across section of lower wall that is different
from the rest of room. Samus scans it.

ADAM
Hmm, that section of the wall is
made up of metal called talloric
alloy-only a strong concussion
blast will destroy it. That's a
little convenient, don't you
think.

SAMUS
Just a little!

Samus morphs into a ball and rolls next to the metal section
of the wall. Just then, and opening appears on the side of
the ball, and a small blueish sphere falls out. Samus rolls
away while sphere grows in size for a few seconds then
explodes. A sizeable hole is left behind, Samus repeats the
process until all of the alloy has been destroyed and an
opening is visible, Samus rolls into the hole and
disappears.

INT. CRATERIA- VERTICAL SHAFT 2 - NIGHT

An explosion occurs inside the wall, and Samus rolls out.
The suit morphs back to normal.

ADAM
Well, that answers the question if
you can be hurt by your own bombs.

SAMUS
One less thing to worry about.

Samus takes a look up then down the shaft.

SAMUS
Does that map show a location of
Ridley?

69.

ADAM
Afraid not. Actually, I'm picking
up some new readings, but it's not
of Chozo origin. It's Pirate
technology.

SAMUS
Might be worth taking a look at.
Which direction?

ADAM
Down.

Samus looks down and sees numerous ledges protruding from
the walls all the way down the shaft. Further down Samus
sees a blast door on one of the ledges.

ADAM
That's probably it. Are you going
to jump...

Samus begins jumping down one ledge at a time, then uses a
somersault on the last ledge to land in a crouch in front of
the door. Samus blasts the door and walks through it.

INT. CRATERIA - INFORMATION CENTER - NIGHT

Samus walks in and immediately sees Pirates 4 at the end of
the room.

SAMUS
(whispers)
Shit!

ADAM
What are you...

Samus morphs into a ball and rolls into a dark corner.
Pirate 4 hears Samus and turns to look but doesn't see her.
Pirate 4 starts slowly walking toward the door.

PIRATE 4 (SUBTITLED)
(Alien language)
[is there someone there?.]

Pirate 4 takes a final look around and returns to his
station.

ADAM
Do you have a plan?

70.

Samus slowly rolls out of corner and gets closer to the
Pirate. Samus drops two bombs and quickly rolls away. Pirate
hear Samus, turn around and see the bombs; he try to run,
but the bombs go off throwing him against a wall. Samus
morphs back to normal.

SAMUS
More or less!

Pirates 4 get to this feet a bit shaken up. Samus fires a
missile the pirate dodges the missile; it impacts the wall.
Pirate 4 shoots its weapon at Samus; it hits her in the left
shoulder and sends her back a few feet. Sections of Samus's
arm cannon turn white and frost emanates from it. Samus
fires a blast of ice from her cannon at Pirate 4 and freezes
its leg to the ground, then another ice blast is fired and
hits its torso. Ice spreads ice all over Pirate 4's stomach
and chest, keeping its arms from moving.

ADAM
I was waiting for you to use the
ice beam.

Pirate 4 tries to move while swearing in it's language;
Samus slowly walks closer toward it. Samus stares at Pirate
4.

SAMUS (SUBTITLED)
(Alien language)
(shouting)
[Where is Ridley!?]

PIRATE 4 (SUBTITLED)
(Alien language)
[You don't want to face him,
hunter. He's killed everyone that
gets in his way. You're no match
for him.]

Samus takes a step back and kicks Pirate 4 in the chest. The
ice shatters leaving Pirate 4 in several pieces. Samus leers
at the icy pile.

ADAM
Damn Samus!

SAMUS
What? You expect me to hold back?

ADAM
Well, no, but...damn. Anyway,
since he's taken care of, how
about we find out what our friend
were up to.

Samus looks around the information center.

SAMUS
A lot of the consoles look
damaged.

ADAM
Well, just scan one that's still
working and I'll look through the
details.

Samus scans a working monitor and waits.

SAMUS
Anything I should know about?

ADAM
Plenty, as a matter of fact. You
remember that supercomputer you
destroyed last time you were here?

SAMUS
Mother Brain! What about her?
She's dead.

ADAM
Was.

SAMUS
Say that again.

ADAM
Seems that some of the Pirate's
hobbies are reconstructing and
reanimation of life-forms. Mother
Brain is alive and well.

SAMUS
How is that possible? You said it
yourself: I was just here a few
months ago. How could they bring
her back so damn fast?

ADAM
They're smarter than we give them
credit for.

SAMUS
That's just great.

ADAM
Mother brain isn't alone. The
Pirate's have had several
experiments with local creatures
to create new powerful ones.
Mother brain is one of two
successful test subjects.

SAMUS
What was the other one?

ADAM
I'll show you.

The monitor shows a creature resembling a giant lizard.

ADAM
This is Kraid.

SAMUS
He's ugly.

ADAM
You don't want to meet him. He can
spit acid from his mouth, and you
see those giant thorns protruding
from his stomach? He can shoot
them at his prey.

SAMUS
Doesn't look like much.

ADAM
No creature has defeated him.
Matter of fact, no weaknesses have
been found.

SAMUS
Doesn't matter. Just out of
curiosity, how many failed
experiments have those bastards
had.

ADAM
Several actually.

SAMUS
Well, let's get back to work.

Samus turns to leave.

ADAM
Wait, there's another working
monitor. Why don't you scan that
one too.

SAMUS
Fine.

ADAM
You never know; it could be
something useful.

Samus scans the other monitor, then Adam starts laughing.

SAMUS
What's so damn funny?

ADAM
A map of the entire underground
area.

SAMUS
You're kidding?

ADAM
Absolutely not. I don't even have
to ask if you want that
downloaded, do I.

Samus is silent.

ADAM
Didn't think so! Give me a second.

P.O.V. - SAMUS'S VISOR

A digitalized image of the map appears and one small area is
highlighted.

ADAM
Here's your position, and here's
where you want to go.

The path is highlighted to a different room.

SAMUS
Why?

ADAM
There's a transport there that'll
lead you to an area called
Brinstar. The nearest Chozo
readings are coming from there.

SAMUS
Good, it'll speed up the search
for Ridley.

Samus leaves the room.

INT. PIRATE FRIGATE - RIDLEY'S CHAMBERS - NIGHT

Ridley watches his monitor closely; the image of Samus's
encounter with the Pirate's is seen. Ridley uses his tail to
freeze the scene of Samus kicking the half-frozen Pirate 4
and stares at it.

RIDLEY (SUBTITLED)
(Alien language)
[Who are you? Why do you hate us
so much?]

Ridley looks at his collection of beaten bounty hunters
helmets, displayed on his wall.

RIDLEY (SUBTITLED)
(Alien language)
[Finally, we'll get to meet face
to face, hunter!]

INT. CRATERIA - TRANSPORT ROOM A - NIGHT

The blast door opens and Samus runs through, sees the
transport in the middle of the room and gets closer.

ADAM
Not a lot of room to move around,
is there.

Samus steps on the transport.

SAMUS
Not much to do when it's moving
really.

ADAM
Good point.

The transport starts to decline.

ADAM
At least you're not
claustrophobic.

INT. BRINSTAR - TRANSPORT ROOM B - NIGHT

Transport reaches the ground and Samus steps off.

SAMUS

I want you to check this area
first. Honestly Samus, I'm amazed
you fond your way around the
pirate base, or even SR388 without
a map.

SAMUS
Well, it wasn't easy or fun.

Samus walks toward a blast door and opens it with her power
beam.

ADAM
Maybe you should proceed with
caution. Who knows what else is
down here.

Samus holds out her arm cannon at the ready.

SAMUS
Just don't distract me.

Samus exits the room.

INT. ARTIFACT ROOM 2 - NIGHT

Samus looks around the room and sees a Chozo statue carved
in the wall. Samus slowly walks closer to the statue and
there's a metal orb in it's hands.

SAMUS
No sign of life yet.

ADAM
No. But there's your prize for
this room.

Samus fires her power beam at the orb and the metal melts
away to reveal a gray-colored ball of energy. Samus scans
the orb.

ADAM
Huh, it's a charge beam for your
arm cannon.

SAMUS
Charge beam?

ADAM
It'll allow you harness the power
of your beams, then fire a more
powerful blast.

SAMUS
I can't wait to use that on some
pirate scum.

Samus grabs the ball of energy and it melts into her suit.
Samus's arm cannon begins to glow for a few seconds, then a
huge blast of yellow energy shoots out and hits the wall.

SAMUS
Shit! I'll definitely get used to
this! I wonder how much damage my
ice beam will do when it's charged
up?

ADAM
You'll get the chance to see it
soon enough, I'm sure.

SAMUS
So, where are the other Chozo
readings in this area?

P.O.V. - SAMUS'S VISOR

Path is highlighted to a huge cave several stores tall.

SAMUS
A big cave, isn't it?

ADAM
Actually the readings are coming
from the room behind it.

SAMUS
Anything special about the cave?

ADAM
The cave is Kraids lair; you'll
have to defeat him to get to the
room where the readings are coming
from.

SAMUS
I'm not worried about facing him.

ADAM
Oh well, then by all means, let's
go.

INT. DARK PIT - NIGHT

Samus is looking down the crevice.

ADAM
Their mechanics are staggering,
aren't they?

SAMUS
I swear, it's like the Chozo made
these underground passages just to
torture me.

Samus glances at the ledge several feet in front of her.

ADAM
You can jump that, right?

SAMUS
We'll soon find out.

Samus steps back, runs, and jumps across the pit with her
left arm held out. Samus's left arm catches the edge, and
she quickly pulls herself up.

ADAM
I have to admit, I always figured
only having one arm to grasp would
be a handicap.

Samus sees a blast door ahead of her and walks closer to it.

SAMUS
The Chozo really like to think
ahead.

Samus opens the blast door and walks through it.

INT. BRINSTAR - PASSAGE TO KRAID'S LAIR - NIGHT

Samus walks slowly down the passage, taking a look at the
various Chozo statues and other architecture lining the
walls.

ADAM
Wow, look at all this. It's
beautiful. I wonder if it all has
some meaning of some sort.

SAMUS
Only the Chozo know.

Samus shoots the blast door and walks through the door.

INT. KRAID'S LAIR - NIGHT

Samus looks around the cave, but sees no sign of Kraid. Odd-
looking piles of rock can be seen littered all over the
ground. A Chozo blast door can be seen at the end of the
cave. Samus holds out her cannon.

SAMUS
I think your info is a bust.
There's nothing in there.

ADAM
Maybe they just recently put him
on the deceased list, but all
signs say he should be in here.

SAMUS
Doesn't matter, at least the Chozo
room is where it should be.

Just then a three huge red eyes appear in the rock pile out
of Samus's line of sight.

ADAM
I still don't understand why these
upgrades are lying around for you.

Suddenly, the section the red eyes are attached to begins to
rise and the whole cave starts shaking. Samus backs away
from the rock piles then finally notices the red eyes. She
watches while keeping her cannon trained on the eyes.

SAMUS
He is in here after all.

Out of nowhere, a set of claws swipes at Samus and knocks
her into the wall. Another set of claws hits Samus hard and
she's partially buried into the wall. The entire set of rock
piles is revealed to be Kraid's back; Kraid stands upright
while Samus pulls herself out of the wall. Kraid growls at
Samus.

79.

ADAM
Well, you wanted to fight him. You
got your wish.

Kraid swipes at Samus with his right claw, but she dodges.

SAMUS
Let the fun begin!

Samus fires a missile at Kraid's stomach, but the impact
leaves no damage.

ADAM
I told you, he has no known
weaknesses.

SAMUS
Thanks for the reminder.

A huge spike from Kraid's stomach suddenly shoots out
towards Samus; she tries to sidestep it but it still hits
her left side and sends her spinning face-first into the
dirt.

ADAM
You all right, Samus?

SAMUS
Yeah! This guy's a power hitter.

ADAM
You have any ideas on how to hurt
him?

SAMUS
I'll figure it out. I always do.

Three more spikes come at Samus; she uses somersaults and
barely dodges. Samus fires two missiles at Kraid's face and
both hit his lower jaw; he opens his mouth wide and wails
loudly. Kraid shoots out another spike but Samus jumps
straight in the air to dodge.

SAMUS
Shit, how many of those things
does he have.

ADAM
The info says that they regenerate
extremely quickly. He'll never run
out.

80.

SAMUS
Perfect.

Samus glances at the wall behind her and sees the spikes
wedged tightly into rock at different heights.

ADAM
Wait, I think I have an idea.

SAMUS
So do I, if I can get high enough.

Samus back flips to dodge another swipe of Kraid's right
claw, then she starts jumping on the spikes one at a time
until she reaches the highest one. Samus stands and waits.

SAMUS
Come on you bastard. What are you
waiting for?

Kraid growls and shoots more spikes at Samus; she times it
and jumps over them as they fly into the wall. This
continues until Samus is almost at eye level with Kraid.

ADAM
Good timing!

Samus fires several beam shots, then charges her power beam
and releases the mega-blast toward Kraid's mouth. The normal
blast's hit close to his eyes; he raises his left claw and
blocks the mega-blast.

SAMUS
Damn!

ADAM
Why don't you try...

SAMUS
Hold that thought.

Samus crouches and charges her ice beam while Kraid shoots
another spike: she jumps forward, jumps off the airborne
spike, and releases the charged blast. It hits Kraid in the
mouth and freezes it shut. Samus lands on the ground and
rolls forward while Kraid flays his arms around in anger.

SAMUS
Block that!

81.

Samus backs up and fires a missile at Kraid's frozen mouth;
the impact completely destroys his lower jaw. Kraid screams
in pain while Samus runs to the opposite wall and climbs the
spikes in the wall.

SAMUS
That worked better than I thought.

Kraid advances on Samus and swipes at her with his right
claw; she ducks and his claw hits the wall. The impact rocks
the cave and Samus loses her balance. Samus grabs another
spike with her left hand and aims her cannon at Kraid's
mouth while he continues to flail around.

SAMUS
Be still dammit.

Samus gets an opening and fires three missiles; all three go
into Kraid's unprotected mouth, and the combined impact
blows up most of his head. Kraid's arms fall limp, and his
body crashes into the ground. Samus releases the spike and
lands in a crouch.

ADAM
All right, Samus! Nice going.

SAMUS
Thanks. What was your idea anyway?

ADAM
Uh, I forgot!

Samus walks over Kraid's dead carcass and reaches the Chozo
blast door; she opens the door and walks through the
opening.

INT. ARTIFACT ROOM 3 - NIGHT

Samus look around and notices the only thing in the room is
a small pedestal with a metal ball on it.

SAMUS
I don't get this.

ADAM
I agree. There's no statue or
anything that resembles a Chozo.
At least there's an upgrade for
your trouble.

82.

Samus blasts the ball with her power beam; after the metal
melts away, a large orange ball of energy with two silver
lines crossing in an X appears. Samus scans it and waits.

ADAM
Wow!

SAMUS
What is it?

ADAM
It's called the Varia suit. It'll
allow you to explore extreme
temperature areas without taking
damage. Also, and you'll like
this, it'll decrease the amount of
energy you use when you're in
battle-both damage and using your
weapons.

Samus grabs the ball of energy; it disappears into her suit.
Suddenly Samus is lifted slowly into the air.

ADAM
What the hell is going on? Samus?

SAMUS
Relax, Adam.

Light emanates from every inch of Samus's suit for several
seconds, then in a quick flash the suit changes color to an
orange/golden tint and becomes bulkier. Samus is slowly
lowered to the ground and lands softly on her feet. Samus
looks at her arms to view the changes.

SAMUS
I like this; this is what I call
an upgrade.

ADAM
Yeah, as if you weren't already
enough of a challenge; the Pirates
are really going to hate you now.

SAMUS
That goes both ways, believe me.
Now what?

INT. PIRATE FRIGATE - RIDLEY'S CHANBERS - NIGHT

Ridley sits silently while starting at monitor; he begins to
growl loudly, then he behind his tail and smashes the
monitor.

RIDLEY (SUBTITLED)
(Alien language)
[I've waited too long for this to
have it taken away from me.]

Ridley growls loudly, then uses his tail to smash a switch
on another section of the wall. The room's ceiling comes to
life and opens up. Ridley jumps straight up through the new
opening.

EXT. PIRATE FRIGATE - NIGHT

Ridley sprouts his wings in mid-air, flies away from his
ship, and skims above the ground until he reaches a blast
door in the ground. Ridley passes over the door, flies
straight up, twists back toward the door, spits out a stream
of fire to open the door and disappears into the ground.

INT. NORFAIR - TRANSPORT ROOM C - NIGHT

The room door opens and Samus runs through; she sees the
transport and walks toward it.

SAMUS
It would be nice if Ridley was
down there.

Samus steps on the transport and it descends.

INT. TRANSPORT TUNNEL - NIGHT

ADAM
You're really looking forward to
fighting him, aren't you?

SAMUS
You know I am.

ADAM
Look, Samus, I'm not going to
attempt to talk you out of it. I
might as well be talking to
myself. I am, however, going to
ask you that when fight him, at
least be careful.

SAMUS
All right, Adam, I'll do my best.

INT. RILEY'S LAIR - TRANSPORT ROOM E - NIGHT

Transport reaches the ground, and Samus steps off.

ADAM
Samus, you won't believe how hot
it is down there.

SAMUS
Guess it's a good thing I found
that varia suit, then!

ADAM
Believe me, if you didn't find it,
you suit wouldn't last long at
all.

Samus looks to her left, then her right: she has two paths
to choose from.

SAMUS
So, which direction?

ADAM
The readings are coming from your
left. They're actually not very
far away.

SAMUS
That's good.

Samus walks to her left and sees a blast door; she runs
toward it, opens it, and runs through the opening. Just
then, the transport ascends back into the ceiling.

INT. DARK CAVE 3 - NIGHT

Once in the room, Samus notices she's on a small ledge, and
the ground is a story down. Samus jumps down and looks
around.

ADAM
Good thing you like jumping, huh?

SAMUS
I never said I liked it!

Samus sees a blast door ahead of her and runs for it.

ADAM
Wait, wait, wait, stop, stop!

Samus stops dead in her tracks.

SAMUS
What the hell? What's up?

ADAM
I'm picking up more readings of
Chozo technology in this room.

Samus looks up and around the cave.

SAMUS
You're sure?

ADAM
I think my track record for today
speaks for itself. It's below you.

The ground begins to shake.

SAMUS
Great, now what?

Samus holds her cannon out towards the ground. The blast
door on the ledge opens up and Ridley walks through. He
realizes the cave is shaking and sees Samus on the ground
with her cannon pointed down.

SAMUS
What in the world is going on
here.

ADAM
This doesn't look good at all.

SAMUS
Like everything up till now looked
better!

A small area in the ground breaks away, and a tall, thin
machine rises up. Samus keeps her cannon ready.

ADAM
Have you ever seen something like
that before?

SAMUS
No.

ADAM
Scan it quickly, while you still
can.

Samus activates scan mode and scans the machine.

ADAM
Well, the good news is you can
lower your aim. It's not
dangerous. If anything, you might
get some answers.

Samus lowers her cannon.

SAMUS
Answers? About what? What is that
thing?

ADAM
A Chozo holographic projector.

Samus is silent.

ADAM
Well, you did leave suddenly so
long ago. They must have figured
that you would come back.

Samus walks toward the projector.

SAMUS
How do you activate it?

ADAM
There's a button on the top.

Samus looks closely and finds the button; she pushes it with
her left hand and the projector comes to life. Samus backs
up, then a holographic image of a Chozo appears and looks
directly at Samus.

CHOZO GUARDIAN (SUBTITLED)
(Chozo language)
[Hello, Samus. I can't tell you
how happy I am to see you again.]

ADAM
Wild guess, but you know him?

Samus pauses for a second.

SAMUS
Adam, I need you to sign off for a
while. Are you able to do that?

ADAM
What? Uh, yeah, I can do that, but
why?

SAMUS
I want to be alone for this.

ADAM
Are you sure?

SAMUS
Yeah, I'm sure.

ADAM
All right, Samus. If that's what
you want; call me when you need me

Samus stares directly into Chozo Guardian's eyes.

before you, once activated by your
power beam, will create a force

Samus is silent.

Samus aims her arm cannon at the crystal, fires a normal
power beam blast at the crystal and a force field appears
and protects her. Samus shakes her head and slowly takes off
her helmet.

Fine.. old bird.

Samus leers at Chozo Guardian.

SAMUS
Never better. How are you?

Ridley sits silently and continues to watch the
conversation.

You were the ones that created the

that could take them all out?

[Oh yes. The upgrades on Zebes are
only the beginning. We had every
intention of making sure you were
completely prepared to face the

The metroids on SR388. I wiped

Destroyed Mother Brain too.

Chozo Guardian tilts his head.

But nothing! I didn't destroy the
metroids for you. I did it to get
paid. You think I'm the savior,
but what I am is a vengeful bitch
out to kill the ones that took
away my family. I do all of it for

until they're all dead, or I am.
This whole mess with the metroids
is all your fault anyway. It's
your fault that Adam's gone.

Samus charges her power beam.

[Samus, what are you doing?]

Samus aims her cannon at the projector.

CHOZO GUARDIAN (SUBTITLED)

[No, Samus, I plead you not to do
this. You need to know more before
you leave.]

Still trying to tell me what to

Samus gives Chozo Guardian an icy look.

SAMUS
I'm done listening to you!

SAMUS
What makes you think that I give a
shit about you or the rest of the
Chozo right now?

Samus walks toward the projector and releases the blast; it
disables the projector and the hologram disappears. Samus
screams in anger and an echo fills the cave. Samus looks at
her helmet and slowly makes her way over to it. Suddenly,
Ridley crashes on the ground directly over Samus's helmet;
he stands upright and looks directly at her.

RIDLEY
And just like that, everything
becomes clear.

SAMUS
Ridley! I was wondering when you
would show up. I finally get to
kill you.

Ridley laughs.

RIDLEY
Your attitude hasn't changed since
Ceres...Samus Aran is it?

SAMUS
It's nice to see you bastards
finally figured out I'm not a man.

RIDLEY
You're quite an angry human,
Samus.

SAMUS
I'll lighten up when you're dead.
I might even smile.

Ridley grasps Samus's helmet with his right foot.

RIDLEY
At a small disadvantage, wouldn't
you say?

Samus looks at her helmet, then back at Ridley.

SAMUS
Doesn't matter. I'll find a way to
manage.

RIDLEY
As you always do, from what I've
heard and seen. Don't worry,
though; I don't want you at a
disadvantage.

Ridley throws Samus's helmet on the ground in front of her.
Samus looks down, crouches and grabs her helmet.

SAMUS
Not that I'm complaining, but why?

RIDLEY
I've been doing this since before
you were born, and all these years
I've never been defeated or even
truly challenged. All that have
crossed my path have been
destroyed-except you. I meant to
kill you on that colony.

Samus looks down at her helmet and see a reflection of
herself on the visor.

RIDLEY
However, here you are,
face-to-face with the one who
killed your foolish mother right
in front of you.

Samus stares at Ridley.

RIDLEY
The biggest mistake I ever made
was leaving you alive on that
colony, but history will not
repeat itself.

SAMUS
Wrong. You're biggest mistake was
taunting me just now.

Samus holds her helmet in front of her.

SAMUS
You're gonna get all my
irritation, all my anger...

Samus puts her helmet back on and her voice changes again.

SAMUS
...in short, I'm going to kill
you!

RIDLEY
Don't hold anything back hunter;
I've waited too long for this.

Ridley spreads his wings; Samus fires her power beam at him,
but he jumps in the air and flies around the ceiling while
laughing. Samus keeps her cannon pointed toward Ridley, but
he moves too fast for her to get a shot.

RIDLEY
Come on, hunter, I expected you to
do better. Surely, you can find a
way to hit me.

SAMUS
Just wait, asshole.

Samus looks at the blast door to her right, opens it and
runs toward the opening. Ridley notices then stops flying;
he hovers while watching Samus run.

RIDLEY
Fool! Going in there just gives me
more room.

Samus runs through the opening and Ridley follows her.

INT. RIDLEY'S LAIR - NIGHT

Samus stands next to the opening with her power beam
charged; Ridley flies in and she releases the blast. The
blast hits Ridley in the chest and sends him out
of control and chest-first into the ground.

SAMUS
Satisfied?

Ridley quickly gets to his feet and observes the burn mark
on his chest.

SAMUS
Sorry, did that hurt?

RIDLEY
Very good, hunter.

Samus fires several more blasts, but Ridley jumps forward
towards her; he twists his body into a spin, misses the
blast by inches, straightens out his body and clashes with
Samus. Ridley grabs Samus with both his feet and arms, then
lifts her into the air; he flies straight up while Samus
tries to break free and buries her head into the ceiling.

Ridley pulls Samus's head out and rams it into the ceiling
three more times.

RIDLEY
You wanted to fight me in my own
lair; what have you learned?

Ridley lets Samus go; as she falls she activates her grapple
beam on her left arm and aims for Ridley's tail. The blue
beam shoots out and wraps itself around the middle of
Ridley's tail. Ridley tugs to keep from being pulled down;
Samus swings herself back towards Ridley, releases the
grappling beam and lands on his back. Samus wraps her left
arm around Ridley's neck.

SAMUS
You're not better than me!

Ridley flies forward in a slight incline as fast as he can.
Samus charges her power beam and aims at Ridley's head, but
he comes to a sudden halt sending her body crashing into the
ground. Ridley hovers in the air for a second.

Samus sits back up and notices a Chozo blast door in the
distance ahead of her.

SAMUS
What the hell?

Ridley notices Samus looking at the door.

RIDLEY
Ah, so you see why I chose this
cave as my personal leisure spot
on this planet. Up till now we
believed none of these doors would
ever be opened.

SAMUS
Don't get your hopes up. Only I
can open them, and I'll wait until
I'm done with you.

RIDLEY
We'll see, hunter!

Samus fires two more normal blasts at Ridley, but he dodges,
flies directly at her and spits a huge blast of fire from
his mouth. Samus sidesteps most of the fire, but her cannon
arm is hit and engulfed for a few seconds. Ridley lands on
the ground five meters in front of Samus.

RIDLEY
You're performing better than I
hoped!

Ridley runs toward Samus as she fires a missile at his head;
he dodges the missile, throws his tail at Samus, and hits
her across the head. The impact spins her body around and
Ridley hits her hard in the back with his tail; Samus falls
face first into the dirt. Ridley hits Samus four more times
with his tail while she's on the ground, then recoils and
his tail cringes in pain.

RIDLEY
Damn Chozo technology!

Samus slowly tries to get up; but he wraps his tail around
her neck and jerks her off the ground. Ridley brings Samus
face-to-face.

RIDLEY
I guess I was wrong-history is
repeating itself.

Ridley glances at the Chozo blast door.

RIDLEY
You like the Chozo so much, let me
help you get closer to them.

Ridley slams Samus into the door back-first; she growls
loudly in pain.

P.O.V. - SAMUS'S VISOR

Lower section displays her energy tank; level is at thirty
percent.

Ridley stares at Samus and taunts her.

RIDLEY
I know you can't be finished yet!
This fight started off so well for
you, but is seems so one-sided all
of a sudden.

Ridley holds her against the Chozo door.

RIDLEY
But as such, this battle must come
to an end.

Samus suddenly points her arm cannon at Ridley's tail and
fires three ice beam blasts, freezing the middle section. He

tries to recoil his tail, but Samus fires a missile at the
icy section and shatters it. Ridley growls in pain while she
removes the lifeless tail from her neck.

SAMUS
I couldn't agree more.

Ridley angrily spits another fire blast at Samus; she jumps
forward, morphs into a ball form, rolls between his legs and
morphs back to normal when she's behind him. The fire blast
hits the Chozo door, reflects off and heads back toward
Ridley. The blast engulfs his left wing and he screams while
trying to put the flames out. Samus charges her ice beam and
blasts Ridley's right wing; most of the wing is covered with
ice, then she fires two missiles at it. Most of the right
wing is destroyed and Ridley falls to his knees. The fire
burns half of his left wing, and he stares at Samus as she
keeps her cannon pointed at him.

RIDLEY
You think I'm defeated, don't you?

SAMUS
Not if you're still breathing.
This isn't over until you're dead.

Samus fires a missile into Ridley's stomach, leaving a
smoking hole. He holds his stomach and cries in pain. Samus
keeps her cannon pointed at Ridley, gets to her feet and
fires a missile at his left knee. Ridley falls forward;
Samus quickly fires another missile, hits Ridley directly in
the chest and he falls on his back. Samus stumbles closer to
Ridley while keeping her cannon trained on him.

RIDLEY
You must be happy, hunter, for
finally avenging your parent's
death.

SAMUS
Killing you doesn't avenge them.
This will never end until
every...last...one of you are
gone.

RIDLEY
Get used to disappointment,
Samus you'll never make it off
this planet.

SAMUS
Well see, won't we?

RIDLEY
For what it's worth, it was an
honor fighting you.

Samus points her cannon directly at Ridley's face.

SAMUS
Whatever, just die already.

Samus fires a missile and it blows off a portion of ridley's
face; he's dead! Samus falls to her knees and takes a deep
breath.

P.O.V. - SAMUS'S VISOR

A sizable life-energy rises above Ridley's dead body; Samus
holds out her cannon, charges her beam, and the cannon
absorbs the mist. She falls on her back.

SAMUS
Adam? Adam!

A few seconds pass.

ADAM
Damn Samus, I was starting to
think you'd forgotten
about...wait, what happened. Why
are you on the ground?

Samus sits up, gets back to her feet and glances at Ridley's
body.

ADAM
Is that Ridley?

SAMUS
What's left of him.

ADAM
Well, I guess that answers the
question of who was the best of
you two.

SAMUS
Didn't win by much; he was tougher
than I figured he'd be.

ADAM
I'll say, you're suit is running
on fifteen percent capacity. You
need some quick energy.

SAMUS
One thing at a time!

Samus fires a missile at the Chozo blast door and walks
toward the opening.

INT. NORFAIR- CHOZO ROOM - NIGHT

Samus looks around the small cave and sees only a circular
metal contraption in the center of the ceiling.

ADAM
Doesn't look very promising, does
it?

Samus scans the contraption and waits for Adam's
information.

SAMUS
So, should I be waiting for
another fight?

ADAM
No ma'am, as a matter of fact, get
closer to it.

SAMUS
Why, what is it?

ADAM
You ask me not to question you;
don't question me. Just trust me.

Samus gets closer, then a metallic arm sticks out from the
machine and hangs down. A huge round hold is in the middle
of the arm.

ADAM
It's an upgrade for your energy
tank. You'll have double the
amount of energy at your disposal,
assuming it's full.

SAMUS
That... would have been useful ten
minutes ago.

ADAM
Well, what are you waiting for?

Samus looks at her cannon, holds it back and shoves it into
the hole. The contraption comes to life; bright light shines

from Samus's cannon, then the arm recoils and fits back into
the ceiling.

SAMUS
That's exactly what I needed.

ADAM
Well. I'll be. That thing also
filled your tank. Suit operating
at one-hundered percent capacity.

SAMUS
So, where's Mother Brain? Wherever
she is, the metroid has to be
close by.

ADAM
I agree! Okay, you'll have to
retrace your steps through Norfair
and Brinstar.

P.O.V. - SAMUS'S VISOR

Map shows path from Transport A on Crateria to another
transport.

ADAM
...then head for this room. It's
the transport to New Tourian.

SAMUS
Good!

Samus leaves the room.

INT. CRATERIA - THIN HALLWAY - NIGHT

Samus is running, then suddenly stops and looks around.

ADAM
Hey, what's wrong. Why'd you...

SAMUS
Shhh!

MOTHER BRAIN (V.O)
So, you've finally returned. I
look forward to seeing you again,
Samus.

SAMUS
Did you hear that voice?

ADAM
I only heard my voice. What are
you talking about?

SAMUS
It's Mother Brain; she's waiting
for me.

ADAM
I'm sure you'll be more than
willing to pay her a visit.

Samus continue running and reaches a blast door. She opens
it and runs through.

INT. STATUE CAVE - NIGHT

Samus stops running and stares at a huge statue of Ridley
and
Kraid in the middle of a pond.

SAMUS
What the hell is that?

ADAM
I don't get it. The map shows a
transport here, not a statue.

SAMUS
Maybe you missed something.

The eyes in both creatures light up, then the cave rumbles.
The water drains, then the statue itself sinks into the
ground. Samus gets close and looks down the new opening.

SAMUS
There's another room down there.

ADAM
Well, are there any objections to
jumping in the hole, lady?

SAMUS
You've known me how long?

Samus jumps in the opening.

105.

INT. CRATERIA TRANSPORT TO NEW TOURIAN - NIGHT

Samus lands on the statue and back flips off of it; she
lands in a crouch and looks around. A transport is next to
the statue.

ADAM
Samus?

SAMUS
Yes?

ADAM
Do me a favor: keep your head up
and your eyes open down here.

SAMUS
Thanks Adam. You really helped me
on this mission, you know.

ADAM
I know, and don't get yourself
killed. That's an order.

Samus steps on the transport and it descends.

INT. NEW TOURIAN - CORRIDER A - NIGHT

Samus slowly makes her way to the end of the corridor,
observing various doors and stasis tanks around her.

SAMUS
I just don't get it-where the hell
is everybody?

ADAM
There's no sign of a metroid
either.

Samus takes a closer look at a tank with a deformed creature
inside. She slowly shakes her head.

ADAM
No creature is safe here.

Samus opens and walks through the blast door.

INT. LABORATORY A - WIDE HALLWAY - NIGHT

ADAM
This doesn't look creepy.

106.

SAMUS
Shhh!

ADAM
Quit telling me to shhh. I don't
appreciate...

SAMUS
Shut up, idiot. Can't you see
ahead?

Samus sees a still figure in the distance: she points her
cannon at it and gets closer.

ADAM
It's a pirate, standing still?
That's not normal.

SAMUS
I have a hunch why it's like that.

Samus stands next to the pirate and grasps it's shoulder;
its body crumbles into dust.

ADAM
There's more of them.

Samus keeps her cannon ready and continues walking forward;
she hears a loud screech and spins around. Metroid is
hovering in front of her-three times it's original size.

SAMUS
What in the world?

Samus stares at Metroid.

ADAM
Why aren't you freezing it?

SAMUS
I think it remembers me. Maybe it
won't...

Metroid screeches again, darts toward Samus and attaches
itself to her. It almost covers her completely.

ADAM
Samus, do something. Your energy
is draining too quickly; you don't
have much time until it's
completely drained.

Samus falls to her knees.

107.

SAMUS
I...can't...move.

ADAM
No, Samus, no!

In Metroid's mind, it sees quick flashes of itself through
Samus's eyes from SR388 and Ceres. It stops draining Samus's
energy, detaches from her and hovers over her head as she
crashes to the floor. The Metroid screeches lightly then
flies off in the direction Samus came from. Samus is
motionless.

ADAM
Samus, are you all right?

SAMUS
I can barely move. It almost
killed me.

ADAM
Damn near; your suit's at five
percent capacity.

Samus gets to her knees.

ADAM
I don't get it, Samus-why did it
let go? I can't be happier that it
did, but I'm confused.

SAMUS
Not sure. Maybe Morton was wrong
about them. Maybe they do have
some sort of memory, or
compassion.

ADAM
I'm inclined to agree.

Samus finally manages to get to her feet and takes a couple
of deep breaths.

SAMUS
I'll worry about that later. I'm
not finished here.

ADAM
Wait, you're not actually going to
face Mother Brain in this state?

SAMUS
What, you expect me to just leave?

108.

ADAM
Why not? You know you can recharge
your suit here at the ship. You
really don't have to face her
right now.

MOTHER BRAIN (V.O)
There's nowhere to go but forward.
I've blocked your way back. Don't
keep me waiting.

Mother brain's voice fades; it's replaced with Adam's voice.

ADAM
Hey, are you hearing me?

SAMUS
Mother Brain contacted me again.

ADAM
And?

SAMUS
She's locked all the door behind
me. I have to move on.

Samus turns toward the next blast door, opens it and
stumbles toward the opening.

ADAM
Samus, you can't...

SAMUS
Adam, stop. This is the way it is.
Accept it!

Samus walks through the opening.

INT. MOTHER BRAIN'S CHAMBER - NIGHT

Samus looks ahead; Mother Brain is in a wide glass tank
sitting on a pedestal; several wires protrude from the brain
itself. The wires are connected to several consoles in the
surrounding wall. Suddenly the room's entrance is replaced
with a metal door. Samus turns to look at it, then returns
her attention to Mother Brain.

SAMUS
Deja Vu!

ADAM
That's Mother Brain?

109.

SAMUS
She looked a bit different last
time I faced her.

MOTHER BRAIN
You finally made it; I was
beginning to have doubts.

SAMUS
Don't worry, you'll be as dead as
everything else I've fought today
soon enough.

MOTHER BRAIN
You are just as intent on my
destruction as the Chozo were.

SAMUS
What the hell are you talking
about?

MOTHER BRAIN
The Chozo kept plenty from you
when you lived on this planet. Who
do you think helped them create
the very suit you wear?

Samus pause for a second.

SAMUS
What?

MOTHER BRAIN
Yes, Samus. Your suit and your
ship were created by me.

Mother Brain laughs briefly.

MOTHER BRAIN
In some ways, I helped create you.

SAMUS
You wish. The Chozo should have
shut you down when they had the
chance.

MOTHER BRAIN
They never got that chance; I had
them attacked, and the ones still
alive barely managed to escape.

Samus is silent.

110.

MOTHER BRAIN
They were so obsessed with their
prophecies, ultimately believing
that technology would aid their
destruction. They panned, after
you were gone, on leaving this
planet forever; their last act was
to deactivate me and leave me to
rot. But I was destined for much
more, so I preserved my existence.
I sent out a singal to space
concerning my location and
potential. The ones you call
pirates picked up the singal. They
were intrigued at what I was
capable of, so they came here and
took complete control of the
planet.

Samus shakes her head in irritation.

SAMUS
I've heard enough stories for one
day.

MOTHER BRAIN
As you wish, Samus. Just hand over
your suit and this all ends.

ADAM
What?

SAMUS
What the hell makes you think I
would do something that stupid.

MOTHER BRAIN
I'm just giving you the option of
giving it to me instead of taking
it from you.

SAMUS
Yeah, right! What are you gonna do
with it, hang it on the wall?

MOTHER BRAIN
That suit is my transport off of
this planet once and for all. I've
been confined here for far too
long, and with my extended
intelligence, I will one day find
a way to preserve by being inside.
Then there will be no limit to
where I can go. Make it easier on

MOTHER BRAIN (cont'd)
yourself; you can't defeat me this
time, Samus. Give me the suit!

Samus fires two missiles at the glass tank; the impacts
shatter the glass and water starts leaking out.

SAMUS
There is no way, that I'll ever
give you this suit. I destroyed
you once, you better belive things
won't be different this time.

Samus fires another missile; the explosion leaves a huge
hole in the tank.

MOTHER BRAIN
Samus, you'll find that things are
a little different this time.

The room rumbles slightly, then the tank completely shatters
and a pair of eyes and mouth can be seen attached to the
front of the brain.

SAMUS
What the hell did they do to her?

The pedestal under Mother Brain breaks apart to reveal a
huge, metallic body.

ADAM
I'm guessing she didn't have an
actual body last time?

SAMUS
No!

Samus scans Mother Brain as stands upright.

SAMUS
Come on, Adam; I hate to admit it
but I need some help here.

Adam says nothing.

SAMUS
No time for a silent treatment,
Adam. What am I up against?

ADAM
I'm sorry, Samus.

112.

SAMUS
For what?

ADAM
Her body is composed mostly of an
alloy called denim. None of your
weapons are strong enough to
penetrate it.

Mother Brain stares at Samus.

MOTHER BRAIN
I gave you a chance, but this is
the destiny you've chosen.

Samus aims her cannon at Mother Brain and fires two
missiles; they both hit her in the head but don't leave a
dent.

SAMUS
Oh, no.

Mother Brain screams at Samus.

ADAM
Samus, I really can't think of
anything that can help you. I'm so
sorry.

SAMUS
Not your fault, Adam.

Mother Brain holds out her arms and a streak of red energy
shoots out from her palms. Samus tries to move but gets hit
and falls on her back.

MOTHER BRAIN
I'm disappointed you're unable to
defend yourself, Samus. I wanted a
better challenge after our last
meeting, but I'll take that suit
either way.

Mother Brain holds her head back while energy builds up
around her head; she throws her head forward and a
multicolored blast of energy shoots out of her eyes and hits
Samus. The blast slams Samus into the wall, then begins to
lift her off the ground until she's halfway up the wall. The
blast doesn't stop.

113.

ADAM
Samus, your energy's almost gone.
If your tank runs empty, you'll be
as vulnerable as a normal human.

Samus screams in agony. The blast finally dissipates, Samus
falls face-first on the ground and her visor shatters.

ADAM
Your suit's powerless. If she does
that again...

Samus tries to move.

SAMUS
At least we had some fun together.

Mother Brain stares at Samus while she struggles to get to
her knees. Samus's left eye is visible through the broken
visor, and she stares directly at Mother Brain.

SAMUS
What are you waiting for? Finish
me off!

MOTHER BRAIN
Amazing-even in the face of death
you show unmeasurable courage.

SAMUS
(YellS)
I said finish me off!

MOTHER BRAIN
Very well, Samus. I will make it
fast-you've earned that much.

A loud screech is head in the previous room, then constant
thumps are heard.

MOTHER BRAIN
Cursed metroid.

The thump continue as Mother Brain charges her eye beam
again. Suddenly, Metroid breaks through the wall and hovers
over Samus. Mother Brain tries to blast Samus, but Metroid
jolt over and attaches itself to Mother Brain flails around
trying to break the grip. Samus just watches while catching
her breath.

SAMUS
Sucks doesn't it, you bitch!

114.

Mother Brain falls to her knees and turns gray. Metroid
detaches and hovers toward Samus and she nods at it.

SAMUS
Thanks. I owe you one.

Metroid attaches itself to Samus.

ADAM
I'm seeing it and I can't believe
it. The metroid is actually
transferring it's energy to you.

SAMUS
No complaints here.

The wires attached to Mother Brain's head and body come to
life and feed her more energy. Mother Brain slowly moves and
gets back to her feet; she growls and walks over to Samus
and Metroid. The wires halt Mother Brain, and she rips them
out of the consoles. Meanwhile, Samus's suit repairs itself
as Metroid transfers more energy.

SAMUS
This is some interesting
technology.

ADAM
I was just going to say that.

Mother Brain towers over Metroid and Samus; she swipes at
Metroid several times with her arms, then she spits energy
balls from her mouth. Metroid's color fades; it detaches
from Samus and slowly rises. Mother Brain swings at it with
her right hand, and Metroid crashes into the wall then falls
to the floor. Samus gets to her feet and observes her suit
as it flashes with color.

ADAM
How do you feel?

SAMUS
Never better. Literally.

ADAM
Well, I'm not sure how, but the
metroid transferred a hyper beam
to your suit, which is strong
enough to destroy denzium.

SAMUS
That's all I needed to hear.

115.

Samus aims her cannon at Mother Brain and releases a
multicolored blast; it hits her in the stomach and burns a
hole. Samus releases blast after blast at Mother Brain;
Mother Brain backs up and tries to protect herself.

MOTHER BRAIN
Even if you destroy me, you'll
doom yourself.

Samus misses a few blasts but dosen't stop, then she
concentrates on Mother Brain's head. Mother Brain lunges at
Samus, but she sidesteps then jumps on Mother Brains's back.

SAMUS
Too bad, I expected better from
you.

Samus blasts the neck of Mother Brain until the head breaks
off and falls to the ground. Samus jumps off the body and
lands in front of the head. Samus glances at Metroid; it's
color has completely faded-it's dead. Samus tilts her head
in disappointment.

ADAM
Samus, I...I'm sorry.

SAMUS
(Pause)
I'll be fine!

MOTHER BRAIN
Wrong! It's too late for you now
Samus. You're doomed along with
this planet.

SAMUS
What the he'll does that mean?

MOTHER BRAIN
You'll see.

Mother Brain dies while Samus's suit stops flashing. An
alarm goes off and Samus looks to see the blast door is
still metal.

ADAM
There has to be a way out of here.
Scan the nearest console.

Samus scans it.

ADAM
Damn. All I got is a time
sequence: you have less then five
minutes to escape.

SAMUS
What is it with these bastards and
time bombs?

ADAM
More bad news: it's a planetary
bomb.

SAMUS
Planetary?

Samus looks around around the room, and finds a huge hole in
the wall behind Mother Brain's body.

SAMUS
Look at that.

Samus runs toward the hole.

ADAM
You think it leads somewhere?

SAMUS
Let's hope.

Samus jumps over the dead body and squeezes though the hole.

INT. NEW TOURISM - ESCAPE HALL - NIGHT

Samus runs straight down the hall as fast as she can.

ADAM
I don't get it. Doesn't it seem a
bit obvious that this hallway
happens to be behind Mother
Brain's chambers?

SAMUS
Who cares Adam? Let's just hope
that it leads to the surface.

Samus continues running and sees a blast door.

ADAM
This looks promising.

Samus opens the blast door and runs through it.

117.

INT. CRATERIA - VERTICAL SHAFT - NIGHT

Samus stop running and looks up.

ADAM
You're not far from the surface,
and you have less than two minutes
left.

Samus observes the multiple platforms protruding from the
walls leading straight up. Samus jumps to the nearest one,
and continues her way up.

SAMUS
Is the ship ready?

ADAM
It's been ready; just waiting on
you.

Samus reaches the top of the shaft and finds a transport.

SAMUS
This thing better work.

Samus steps on the transport and it ascends.

SAMUS
Get airborne, I won't have much
time when I get to the surface.

ADAM
Right.

INT. CRATERIA - TRANSPORT ROOM A - NIGHT

Samus jumps out of a hole and starts running towards a
nearby blast door.

SAMUS
Why does it have to move so damn
slow?

Samus opens the door and runs though the opening.

EXT. CRATERIA - SURFACE - DAY

Samus runs along and looks around.

118.

SAMUS
Are you close? Nevermind, I see
you!

Ship appears and flies in fast.

SAMUS
Don't bother landing, just slow
down and get close so I can jump
on top.

ADAM
On my way!

Ship close in and Samus barely jumps on top of it.

SAMUS
Fly straight up so I can get in.

Samus stands on platform and it lowers her into the ship.
Ship changes angle and flies through the sky.

INT. SAMUS'S SHIP - DAY

ADAM
Have a seat, lady. This may be
rough.

Samus sits in the chair.

EXT. ZEBES - SPACE - DAY

Samus's ship is seen flying through the atmosphere and
speeds away from the planet. Explosions can be seen on the
planet surface, then the entire planet explodes.

EXT. SAMUS'S SHIP - NIGHT

Samus's ship appears amidst the explosion and flies away
safely.

INT. SAMUS'S SHIP - NIGHT

Samus sits with her head down.

ADAM
Are all of your missions that
exciting?

119.

SAMUS
You could say that.

Samus slowly removes her helmet, drop it next to her chair,
and takes a deep breath. Sweat covers her face, and a small
scar is under her left eye.

ADAM
Samus, you look so tired. Why
don't you get patched up and rest
for a while.

SAMUS
In a minute.

ADAM
Well, while I have your attention,
I intercepted a transmission from
federation space.

Samus slowly raises her head.

SAMUS
What is it?

ADAM
The Federation President has
placed a galaxy-wide warrant on
you. He requests the help of all
the space hunters to bring you
in...Alive.

Samus lowers her head in disappointment and scoffs.

SAMUS
Is that all?

ADAM
Well, there's also a survivor's
list from Ceres.

Samus raises her head quickly.

SAMUS
What? Let me see it.

ADAM
Samus...

SAMUS
I want to see it!

ADAM
I've already seen it.

SAMUS
And?

ADAM
Sorry, Samus, my name's not on it.

Samus angrily stands up and punches the side of her chair.

ADAM
Samus, come on, it's all right.

SAMUS
Like he'll it is. After everything
I just went though, the only thing
I could have hoped to look forward
to was that you somehow survived.
And it's gone!

Samus angrily takes off her suit.

SAMUS
(Yells)
It's gone!

ADAM
Gee, I didn't realize you cared
that much.

Samus's eyes begin to water.

SAMUS
I tried so hard not to.

ADAM
Then why did you?

Samus wipes away her tear and looks at the monitor.

SAMUS
You never stopped trying. No
matter how mean I was or how much
I instulted you, it never stopped
you from being interested in
asking how I was. It's ironic that
the one thing I want right now is
to have you here so I can hold
you... But here I am, alone with
no one on my side.

Samus turns and walks toward the back of the ship.

ADAM
Samus?

Samus stops and slightly turns her head.

ADAM
I understand how you feel, and I
know it doesn't mean much coming
from a computer, but I'm still
here. You're not completely alone.

Samus looks ahead of her.

SAMUS
Thanks. Keep an eye out, make sure
no one sneaks up on us. I want to
be alone for a while.

ADAM
Sure, Samus, whatever you want.

Samus continues walking.

INT. SAMUS'S SHIP - SHOWER AREA - NIGHT

Samus stands in the shower with her eyes closed. Quick
flashes of Adam and Metroid appear in her mind, and she
begins to cry. She slowly falls to a crouched position,
buries her head in her knees, and continues to weep.

INT. SAMUS'S SHIP - PILOT'S CHAIR - NIGHT

Samus sits quietly in the chair wearing a clean jumpsuit.

ADAM
Samus, are you all right?

Samus is silent for a few more seconds.

SAMUS
Yeah, I'll be fine. I always am.

ADAM
The last metroid sacrificed itself
for you. You know that, right?

Samus mildly nods.

SAMUS
Yeah.

ADAM
Do you really think that was the
last one?

SAMUS
Honestly, I have no idea. The
pirates have always been one step
ahead of the Federation. It
wouldn't surprise me if there were
more out there somewhere.

ADAM
What about the Federation? Do you
think they'll calm down after a
while?

SAMUS
After the destruction of Ceres and
now Zebes? No; every hunter in the
galaxy will be looking for me.

Adam is silent for a few seconds.

ADAM
So, what are we going to do?

Samus looks at the monitor and smiles.

SAMUS
We?

ADAM
Hey, we're in this together right?

SAMUS
Right.

ADAM
So what's next for us?

Samus stares into space for a second, then frowns.

SAMUS
There's not a lot of choices. I
know where we need to go; problem
is I'm afraid of what we'll find.

ADAM
Well, I'm sure you're more than
capable of handling whatever comes
our way.

SAMUS
(Smile again)
We'll kick anyone's ass who gets
in our way.

ADAM
(Laughs)
Thats's my Samus.

Samus thinks for a few seconds.

SAMUS
Adam, I need you to check the
ship's charts and find Tallon IV.

Samus smiles and stares off into space.

ADAM
Tallon IV? Is that where we're
going?

SAMUS
At some point, I think we'll have
to.

ADAM
In that case we'll lay low for a
bit. Any objections, lady?

SAMUS
None.

Samus lays back in the pilot's chair.

EXT. SAMUS'S SHIP - NIGHT

Ship flies through space.
