IN PROGRESS A2 FILM STUDIES

EXT. INSIDE A CAR IN THE CITY STREETS - NIGHT |
|
|
WALLACE is sitting in his car after just pulling up to the
curb of the street, while we cannot see him in the darkness
of the car but we know he is there. The car radio is
transmitting an official announcement from UNICO, the
megacorportaion WALLACE works for. |

RADIO
ATTENTION ALL CIVILIANS!
WE NEED YOU!
UNICO NOW NEEDS MORE GAURDS AFTER
RECENT RIOTS!
THIS IS YOUR OPPURTUNITY TO WORK

EXT. CITY STREETS - NIGHT |
|
|
It is very late-night. WALLACE exits the car out into the
crowded city streets of NEO-BOSTON, the rain beginning to
fall on him and his face illuminated by a multitude of
neon-lights. This is the first time we see WALLACE in a full
shot. He's in his twenties. Although he seems rough, used
and unshaven from the amount of time he spends working. He
is dressed in an old-tattered raincoat, the only thing
standing out from it is the UNICO badge plastered onto the
coat.
On the street there is a huge capsule hotel holding around
10,000 residents inside, there a signs all over it in
Japanese advertising the hotel. WALLACE exits out of the car
to the back of the hotel, where a GUARD is standing by the
back door.The guard is a bold, strong Japanese man standing
still, he stares at Wallace across from the street trying to
imtimidate him. WALLACE makes his way through the crowd over
to the gaurd, he speaks his voice is a typical Boston
accent, wittled down over the years he has spent working. We
can still hear the UNICO radio broadcast in the background
from a not so distant speaker. |

WALLACE
Hey pal, is this the flying dragon
hotel? |
|
|
|
The GUARD doesn't understand English, WALLACE thinks he is
trying to imtimidate him by ignoring him and asks again. |
|
|
| |
WALLACE
(Pointing to his
UNICO badge)
Hey, I'll ask again. Is this the
flying dragon hotel? I'm Wallace
Magnum, I work for UNICO I'm with
the investigation team. |
|
|
|
The GAURD looks at the badge, while he doesn't understand
what WALLACE is saying he recognises the badge, he pulls out
a keycard, swiping it into a slider by him. A lock can be
heard unlocking and the GUARD steps out of the way to let
WALLACE through. |
|
|

|
INT. FLYING DRAGON HOTEL BACK-ENTRANCE - NIGHT |
|
|
The inside of the back of the hotel is lit only by a few
weak ceiling lights, the sounds of machines whirring and
powering the hotel can be heard in the background. WALLACE
enters into the scene, water dripping off of him. Two UNICO
guards greet him at the entrance, motioning him to follow to
the place of interest, WALLACE obliges and follows them. |

INT. FLYING DRAGON HOTEL PLAZA - NIGHT |
|
|
We now see the gaurd and WALLACE come out into the hotel
plaza, a huge centerpoint, illuminated by huge lights at the
roof which is looked down upon by every floor, from here we
can see many capsules, many with their curtains drawn and
closed and some vacant and open. The whole plaza is taped
off and guarded by UNICO and in the center of the room is
and outline of a person in chalk, splatters of blood around
it. WALLACE is greeted by the head of the UNICO
investigation team, DAVID. He is a large man, dressed in a
coat and fedora that makes him look out of place in such a
futuristic world. |

DAVID
Wallace! You're finally here. I
trust you've read the notes about
this on the way here correct? |
|
|
|

| |
WALLACE
I only skimmed over the notes, you
could surley do me a favour and
tell me more right? |
|
|
|
| |
DAVID
Always like you huh, to just skip
over the facts.
(DAVID turns around to look at the
scene)
Today at 10 PM somebody fell from
a floor in this building and
possibly died. |
|
|
|
| |
WALLACE
That's it? You're always one for
making a mountain out of a
molehill boss but this is one of
your worst yet. |
|
|
|
| |
DAVID
(Turns to WALLACE, slightly
irritated)
That's not all, the plaza closes
at 9PM and cleaning is finished by
9:30PM. At the time the body fell
no one was here to see it fall. |
|
|
|
| |
WALLACE
You're telling me that no one saw
the body fall at all? |
|
|
|
| |
DAVID
That's partly the case, while
there were witness of hearing and
seeing the body fall. By the time
anyone reached it-(He's cut off by
Wallace) |
|
|
|
| |
WALLACE
The body was gone? Just like the
last case? |
|
|
|
Both of them look extremley troubled all of a sudden. DAVID
hadn't considered the possibility until WALLACE had
mentioned it and now they were both stunned in the
realisation. |
|
|
| |
DAVID
We don't know for sure yet. But
the victim may again be another
UNICO faculty manager. He went
missing at around the same time
and was reported to be here before
(MORE)
|
|

|
|
|
|
| |
WALLACE
Shit. Let me guess. You want me to
look for the body again? |
|
|
|
| |
DAVID
As much as I hate to put you on an
identical case. I'm going to have
to ask you to do this again and
find the body to confirm it. I
think there may be a group of
rioters targeting our heads
specifically and eliminating them
one by one until they bring UNICO
down. |
|
|
|
| |
WALLACE
Alright then. I'm on it. |
|
|
|
Before DAVID can say another word WALLACE walks off over to
the scene, looking at the outline of the body and a few
items placed next to it. One of them being a business card
for the Iris Pharmacy. Taking it WALLACE walks back over to
DAVID |
|
|
| |
WALLACE
(Thinking to himself)
Iris Pharmacy, where have I heard
that before? |
|
|
|
| |
DAVID
You've probably been on a case
related to it before. It's a drug
dealing den located not far from
here, I can have someone take you
there if you want. |
|
|
|
| |
WALLACE
I'm fine boss, just get someone to
give me the directions on the way
out. |
|
|
|
| |
DAVID
We also found this.
(DAVID reaches into his pocket,
pulling out a note)
I don't know if it will be any use
to you but it might provide some
insight into what the victim was
doing. |
|
|
|

|
WALLACE looks at the note, "Jack Firebrand" Is wrote on it
in capital letters, he stuffs it into his breastpocket with
the business card and and turns around to leave out the way
he came. |
|
|
| |
WALLACE
Thanks boss, I'll be starting the
investigation now. |
|
|
|
| |
|
EXT. INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT - STREETS - MORNING |
|
|
We see two peple, conversing outside an old ruined Factory,
two members of the IRIS gang, a gang dedicated to bringing
down UNICO and ending the constant uproar of the city. We
can hear more UNICO propaganda blaring through a speaker
attached to a corner of a builiding opposite the street.
These speakers seem to be everywhere. Constantly blaring the
sounds of UNICO's messages. |

SPEAKER
ATTENTION ALL CITIZENS OF
NEO-BOSTON!
TIRED OF A LIFE OVER-CROWDED BY
OTHER PEOPLE?
DO YOU NOT FEEL VALUED OR WANTED
BY SCOCIETY?
JOIN UNICO NOW AND HELP MAKE THE
CITY YOU LOVE MOST A BETTER PLACE.
WE NEED YOU TO SHAPE UNICO INTO AN
INFLUENCE THAT WILL SAVE THIS
CITY! |

|
The SPEAKER continues to throw the sounds of the UNICO
broadcasts into the city, constantly advertising the
"desirable" life of being a disposable guard for the UNICO
headquaters. We now come closer to the two people
conversing, their bodies illuminated by the bright lights of
the city. While we cannot hear what they are saying we can
see what they look like. ROCKIE is a young girl, while she
looks underfed and not in good health she acts full of life,
putting emotion into her words and her personality coming
clear through her expressions. On the other side of the
conversation is SPYDER another member of the IRIS gang. He
is an enigma, wearing a long trenchcoat to hide his body as
well as some kind of high tech mask over his face, hiding
his eyes as well behind a darkened pair of goggles attached
to the mask. It is clear that they are having some sort of
argument due to ROCKIE'S irratated and angry expressions.
SPYDER on the over hand shows no emotion, it is not even
clear to us if he is speaking or not because of the mask. We
see WALLACE drive past them into the heart of the Industrial
|

district. A place full of criminal activity and gang
operations. |
