INT. BLANK SCREEN - DAY |
|
|
Title screen displays "PHOTOGRAPH". Screen remains black as
music plays in background. Establishing shots; people taking
pictures of things, car driving, city lights, etc. |

INT. LIBRARY - DAY |
|
|
|
COLOUR |
|
|
Hannah is seen looking at books long shots of Hannah
followed by close ups on fingers and face. |
|
|
OVER THE SHOULDER: Jordan is visible - both are oblivious to
each other |
|
|
Jordan's POV: He sees Hannah and acknowledges her - looks up
and watches. |
|
|
Hannah's POV: She moves to reach a book on the top shelf and
notices Jordan. She smiles shyly. |
|
|
Jordan acknowledges and moves towards her, and reaches the
book for her. |
|
|
|
Hannah accepts and smiles at the book. |
|
|
|
|
|

|
INT. KITCHEN - DAY |
|

|
|
Hannah walks through the door and drops her bags. She walks
into the kitchen; upset, makes way over to table. |

Hannah looks through the pictures - each one held up to
examine |

OVER THE SHOULDER: looking at the pictures |

|
Fade to close up on Hannah, trying to smile and look happy.
Wiping tears away. |

Hannah grabs one picture, picture taken of her at a coffee
shop |

Close up on face - starts to half smile |

INT. LIBRARY - DAY |

|
Scene continues from before, Hannah and Jordan are talking
and laughing. |

|
|
Librarian stands up and "shhhs" them. |
|
|
|
Hannah and Jordan laugh but try to cover their mouths. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
Jordan grabs Hannah's hand and the two run out of the
library. |
|
|
|

|
INT. COFFEE SHOP - DAY |
|
|
|
COLOUR |
|
|
Scene transition to Hannah and Jordan walking into a coffee
shop, Jordan holds the door open. |
|
|
Hannah acknowledges and smiles back at him. Hannah takes a
seat while Jordan orders and brings two coffees back with
him. |
|
|
Hannah takes a drink, Jordan gets an idea. He pulls out his
phone and angles the camera towards her. |
|
|

CLA
(confused)
What are you doing? |

DRE
Trust me, the lighting is perfect.
Just smile! |
|
|

CLA
(shy)
No, oh no! I don't do pictures. |
|
|
|
| |
DRE
Oh come on, you look great! Trust
me this is perfect! Just smile,
okay? |
|
|
|
Hannah gives in and smiles for the picture, Jordan looks at
the end result and smiles. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
| |
|
INT. KITCHEN - DAY |
|
|
|
B&W |
|
|
Hannah still smiling at the picture; she sets it down gently
and picks up another one. Hannah and Jordan are pictured in
a park. |
|
|

|
EXT. PARK - DAY |
|
|
|
COLOUR |
|
|
Hannah and Jordan are walking in the park being cute, both
are eating ice cream. |
|
|
|
Jordan points to a bench, both sit down. |
|
|
Hannah goes to grab her phone out of her bag on the ground,
Jordan notices the girl that walks by on the phone (Taylor) |
|
|
Taylor waves at him and he waves back, both smile - all
while Hannah is unaware. She grabs phone and they take a
picture. While looking at the picture, Jordan smushes ice
cream into Hannah's face and runs. Hannah chases him. |
|
|

4.

INT. KITCHEN - DAY |
|
|
|
B&W |
|
|
Hannah picks up another picture, this one is of her and
Jordan's feet and a television screen - kind of blurry.
Hannah wipes the tears from her eyes and laughs a little. |
|
|

|
INT. BASEMENT - DAY |
|
|
|
COLOUR |
|
|
Hannah and Jordan are playing video games and laughing.
Hannah's trying really hard to be good but Jordan is kicking
her ass. |
|
|
Jordan is trying to rub it in her face, that he's winning -
and Hannah tries to shuffle it off. |
|
|
Hannah and Jordan start yelling, and then Hannah starts to
get better and winning. Jordan starts to get defensive and
upset, and Hannah starts to rub it in his face. |
|
|
Hannah wins the game and is super happy; Jordan looks
slightly pissed but is still smiling! Hannah starts to rub
her win in Jordan's face - Jordan goes to grab his phone to
take a picture. |
|
|
Hannah knocks the phone out of Jordan's hand - both laugh.
Jordan picks up his phone and realizes that he took a
picture. |
|
|
| |
DRE
Wow, that has got to be the worst
picture ever... |
|
|
|
|
Jordan goes to delete it. |
|
|
| |
CLA
Hey! Don't delete that! |
|
|
|
| |
DRE
Why not? It doesn't look like
anything! |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Jordan puts his arm around Hannah and both look at the
picture. |
|
|
| |
5.

|
INT. KITCHEN - DAY |
|
|
|
B&W |
|
|
Hannah takes a minute to compose herself, looking at the
pictures in front of her. She tries her hardest to crack a
smile but can't quite bring herself to it. Standing with
both hands on the table, she looks forward - trying to calm
her breathing. Her head falls as she begins to cry again. |
|
|

|
INT. PHONE CALL - DAY |
|
|
|
COLOUR |
|
|
Hannah and Jordan are talking on the phone. Hannah is seen
laying across her bed (typical teenage girl stereotype),
Jordan is sitting on the couch channel surfing. Various
shots between the two, establishing conversation. Hannah is
obviously very happy and "in love", Jordan is simply
listening (Hannah is doing most of the talking). |
|
|
Fill in dialog with standard discourse; discuss typical
things i.e. the weather, how their day was, any interesting
events, etc. |
|
|
DOORBELL: Jordan turns his attention towards the door, and
informs Hannah that he has to go *insert typical excuse
here*. |
|
|
|
Hannah complies, and hangs up the phone - END CONVERSATION. |
|
|
Jordan turns the television off and makes his way towards
the door, adjusting his clothes and his hair on the way. As
he opens the door, only Jordan is visible. He goes for a
hug, the audience only sees the two's feet; clearly female -
and not Hannah's. |

INT. KITCHEN - DAY |
|

|
|
Hannah grabs another picture, this one from the winter. Her
and Jordan are ice skating. She pauses longer with this
picture, running her thumb along the edges. She takes a
second to look at her left hand, and then brings the picture
to her chest and closes her eyes. |
|
|

EXT. RINK - EVENING |
|
|

COLOUR |
|
|
Hannah and Jordan pull up to an outdoor skating rink. They
grab the bags from the backseat and head to the picnic table
to tie their skates. |
|
|
Jordan ties his skates faster than Hannah and starts to tie
hers. Once both have their skates tied, Jordan helps Hannah
off the bench and towards the ice. |
|
|
Jordan is trying to race Hannah and show off but Hannah's
clumsy and can't skate very well. She almost falls a few
times but Jordan helps her balance. |
|
|
Hannah turns away from Jordan and tries to skate away,
Jordan reaches into his pocket and fumbles with the ring
box. |
|
|
Jordan doesn't notice that Hannah is skating towards him and
runs into him, almost knocking the box out of is hand. |
|
|
Hannah falls; Jordan manages to put the ring back in his
pocket before Hannah notices, and helps her up. |
|
|
Hannah reaches into her pocket and pulls out her phone, they
take a selfie. |
|
|
As Hannah's looking at the picture, Jordan takes his
opportunity and gets down on one knee - Hannah reacts and
starts to get emotional. |
|
|
| |
DRE
So whatdaya say hun, will you
marry me? |
|
|
|
Hannah stands unresponsive for a second or two, and then
starts to nod her head. Jordan puts the ring on her finger
and stands up. Hannah goes to hug him but almost falls,
Jordan catches her and brings her into a hug. |
|
|
| |
|
INT. KITCHEN - DAY |
|
|
|
B&W |
|
|
Hannah opens her eyes and puts the picture back on the
table. She picks up a very drunken selfie of her and Jordan
and laughs, smiling and wipes the remaining tears from her
eyes. |
|
|

7.
|
|
EXT. STREET - NIGHT |
|
|
|
B&W |
|
|
Hannah and Jordan are walking down the street, Hannah
walking on the curb. Both appear to be a little intoxicated,
and can't walk very straight. |
|
|
Hannah has a clear bottle in her hand, and both are drinking
out of it. |
|
|
Hannah goes to point to something and loses her balance, but
Jordan catches her. She falls into a "dip" in Jordan's arms
and they both start to laugh. Jordan leans in to kiss Hannah
but looses his balance and they both fall on the ground. |
|
|
Laying in the grass laughing, Hannah goes to sit up and
grabs her phone. Jordan sits up beside her and "kisses her
cheek" in the picture. He then grabs the bottle from her
hand and lays back down. Hannah joins him. |
|
|

|
INT. KITCHEN - DAY |
|
|
|
B&W |
|
|
Hannah laughs and puts the picture down, and picks up the
picture of Taylor and Jordan from under the stack. |
|
|
|
While looking at it, she slowly starts to get upset. |
|
|
|
Close up on her face, slowly loosing the smile. |
|
|
|
OVER THE SHOULDER: running her thumb over Jordan's face. |
|
|
She puts the picture down on top of the stack, and places
her hands on the table. Takes a minute to try and compose
herself but can't and pushes all the pictures off the table
and falls down the wall crying. |
|
|

INT. BIRTHDAY - DAY |
|
|
|
COLOUR |
|
|
Hannah and Jordan are having a Skype conversation. It is
Jordan's birthday and Jordan is away. Hannah's background is
familiar, her home. Jordan's background is strange - hotel
room like. Mirror or some reflective surface behind Jordan. |
|
|
Hannah is singing 'Happy Birthday' and Jordan is laughing
and smiling. Hannah has a cupcake with a candle and is
holding it to the camera, insisting Jordan to blow it out.
|

|
He complies and Hannah assists, the candle is burnt out.
Hannah brings her hand to the screen to touch Jordan's face,
saying "I love you" and "I miss you" etc. etc. |
|
|
There is a knock heard at the door, Jordan looks up. He
begins to tell Hannah that his buddies are here to take him
out and he has to go. Hannah is about to sign off when she
notices the door open in the mirror. |
|
|
A woman is seen, and Jordan smiles at her. He goes to end
the Skype call but doesn't hit the button. In the
reflection, Hannah sees the woman hug Jordan, he spins her
and appears to kiss her. Hannah slowly hits 'end' on the
call and closes her laptop - obviously disappointed and
hurt. |

INT. KITCHEN - DAY |
|

|
|
Hannah starts to pick up each picture, holding them all in
her hands. She takes a minute, and then she throws them all
on the ground. Enraged, she throws everything on the table
onto the ground and collapses down the wall. She takes her
head into her hands and cries. |
|
|

|
INT. THE ARGUEMENT - DAY |
|
|
|
COLOUR |
|
|
Hannah and Jordan both arguing. Hannah is accusing him of
cheating on her and Jordan is denying it. |
|
|
Hannah starts to pack up her things, Jordan is trying to
stop her. He tries to unpack what she has packed up, but she
just pushes him away. She is furious and doesn't want
anything to do with him anymore. Hannah is yelling and ready
to call off the engagement. |
|
|
Jordan takes her hands and swears on his life that he didn't
cheat on her; very convincing. Hannah takes a minute to
process this information, looking into his eyes. |
|
|
Jordan moves the hair from her eyes, and tries to plead with
her - she calms down. Hannah forgives Jordan and they break
into a hug. Jordan seems fearful, he knows he lied and is
trying not to show it. |
|
|

9.

|
INT. HOUSE - DAY |
|
|
|
COLOUR |
|
|
Hannah is scrolling through Pinterest looking at wedding
things. Jordan walks over to her looking over her shoulder,
trying to see what she's doing. She tries to show him
different things and ideas and Jordan slowly loses interest. |
|
|
Jordan tells her that whatever she picks is fine with him,
and she starts to look disappointed. He walks away for a
moment and Hannah continues to scroll. |
|
|
Jordan comes back and sits beside Hannah, putting his arm
around her. The two look through the website picking out
ideas, and Hannah is overjoyed. Jordan is happy to see her
happy. |
|
|
| |
|
EXT. SIDEWALK - DAY |
|
|
|
COLOUR |
|
|
Jordan and Taylor are seen. Taylor is trying to pull Jordan
towards her but he refuses. He pushes her out of the way, he
doesn't want anything to do with her. He keeps repeating,
it's over - but she won't listen. She pulls him into a kiss,
Jordan freezes. |
|
|
Hannah is seen walking down the street with shopping bags in
hand. Various shots |
|
|
SHOT: Behind Hannah, Jordan and Taylor in background -
Hannah drops bags. |
|
|
Jordan tries to consol Hannah but she's angry, pushes him
and yelling. Taylor tries to break it up but Jordan snaps at
her and pushes her out of the way. Hannah picks up bags and
tries to walk away, Jordan grabs her arm "Don't walk away
from me!" Hannah pushes him off. She takes the ring off of
her finger and throws it on the ground, Jordan goes to pick
it up. He tries to reason with her but she just grabs her
bags and walks away. Jordan walks over to the ring and holds
in between his fingers. |

|
Taylor tries to comfort him but he pushes her off his
shoulders, she turns and walks away. Jordan stays crouched
on the sidewalk with his head in his hands. |
|
|
Hannah throws her bags into the car, and gets in. She takes
a minute at the steering wheel to calm down. |
|
|
|
Jordan starts running down the street after Hannah. |
|
|
10.
|
Hannah looks up and notices that Jordan's chasing her, she
puts the car in drive and speeds off. Jordan tries to chase
the car but can't keep up. He stops in the middle of the
road. |
|
|
|

|
|
| |
|
INT. HOUSE - DAY |
|
|
|
B&W FADES TO COLOUR |
|
|
Inside Hannah's house, continuing from her on the ground.
Transitions from shots of her crying to ripping up pictures. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
Jordan is freaking out on the street - He turns in circles
as if he's looking for something - then starts running down
the street. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
More shots of Hannah. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Jordan going up to a store and goes in. |
|
|
| |
TRANSITIONING
BETWEEN BOTH |
|
|
|
Alternating shots between Hannah ripping and Jordan driving
(with flowers). Jordan's shots are fast paced and quick
while Hannah's are slow and fuzzy. |
|
|
|
Hannah finishes her ripping. |
|
|
|
Jordan still driving |
|
|
Hannah looks at the pile of ripped pictures and moves over
to them, noticing that one hasn't been ripped yet. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
Footsteps going up Hannah's sidewalk and up to the door;
fade in all three perspectives. |
|
|
|
Jordan still driving. |
|
|
|
Hannah goes to pick up the picture. |
|
|
11.
|
Knock at Hannah's door, she looks up and makes her way to
the door. |
|
|
Jordan looks to his left and brings his arm to his face,
LIGHT FLASH. |
|
|
Hannah opens the door, a police officer is standing there to
deliver "the news" |
|
|
Hannah falls into the officer crying. LONG SHOT: the
ultrasound picture and soother on the pile of ripped
pictures with Hannah's feet in the background. |
|
|
|
Slowly fade from colour to B&W except for the picture. |
|
|
FADE OUT. |
|
