INT. MIKE'S KITCHEN - NIGHT |
MIKE
Hey, Tyler, it's no big deal,
alright? So I forgot to take out
the trash, I'll just do it now. |
Goes to take out trash, tyler stops him.
TYLER
What are you going to do it now
for? Because I said something? How
long have your mother and I been
telling you that taking out the
trash is a part of cleaning the
kitchen?...about 10 years, I... |
MIKE
10 years? You haven't even known
me for 10 years! You haven't even
known my mom for 10 years! |
TYLER
Who are you talking to like that?! |
MIKE
Who the hell does it look like I'm
talking to? |
TYLER
Don't talk to me like that in my
house! |
MIKE
It's not your house! You've only
been living here for 7 years! I've
lived here my entire life. All of
a sudden you just waltz in here
and act like you own the damn
place. Like your my dad, well
you're not! And you'll never be. I
don't need this.
(grabs shoes and
jacket)
When my mom get's home tell her
I'll be back tomorrow. |
2.
TYLER
You're leaving? Fine, you know
what?! Don't even worry about
coming back. No one needs you here
anyway, you're just a waste of
time and space!
(Mike leaves and
slams the door
behind him) |
INT. CLUBHOUSE - NIGHT |
Mike walks for about an hour until he get's to this old beat
down Club-house. He decides it'll be a good place to relax. |
MIKE
(knocks on door)
Hello? Is anyone here?
(no one answers,
so he opens the
door) |
JASON
(wakes up)
Who are you? |
MIKE
Oh, Im sorry, I didn't realize
that anyone was here. I'll just
find somewhere else. |
JASON
Naw, don't worry 'bout it. You
runnin' away? |
MIKE
Not for long, I hope, my stepdad's
being an ass. What are you doing
here? |
MIKE
(laughs)
No, really...what are you doing
here? |
JASON
Take a look around. |
He does, and sees pizza boxes, shoes, clothes, etc. |
3.
JASON
'Cause I don't got no place else
to go. That's why. |
MIKE
Oh, your parents kick you out? |
JASON
No, they uh...they left. |
MIKE
They left you alone? Didn't they
tell you they were leaving? What
kind of parents would do something
like that? |
JASON
I don't wanna talk about it, okay. |
MIKE
No problem, so what's your name? |
JASON
Jason, but everyone calls me Jay. |
MIKE
I'm Mike, everyone calls me mike
(laughs as if he
just told a
hilarious joke.) |
They shake hands. Jason shivers violently for 2 seconds and
stares off into space. After about 10 seconds, blinks, falls
on the ground, and looks scared. |
MIKE (cont.)
Jay, man, are you okay??
(Jason nods yes,
still looking
scared)
You were out of it for a second,
thought I was gonna have to
perform CPR!! |
JASON
Yeah, I'm fine...just felt a
little dizzy, that's all. I'll be
fine. |
4.
Mike realizes
MIKE
No you're not, you look like you
just saw a ghost. Are you sure
everythings alright? |
JASON
(raising voice)
I said I'm fine, okay? |
MIKE
Alright, just trying to help. |
JASON
(yelling)
Well it's not helping alright?!
Just,...just drop it okay? |
MIKE
Fine,..you know what, I'll just
leave. |
Mike get's up and starts to exit |
JASON
No, don't leave. I'm just a little
ticked alright, it's really no big
deal. |
MIKE
(stops, turns to
face Jason)
Alright, I'll stay, but only if
you tell me what that little scene
was back there. |
MIKE
Aww, come on, from a friend to a
friend. |
JASON
Okay, but you have to promise not
to tell anyone...promise? |
MIKE
Yeah
(they shake on it)
So, tell me...what was that? |
5.
JASON
Well,...have you heard of the
Indigo Children? |
MIKE
Yeah...
(BEAT)
I'm one of them.
(BEAT)
You? |
MIKE
So, that's your gift?...sight? |
MIKE
So what's that like? I've always
thouht that was the most
interesting of the Indigo gifts. |
JASON
I dunno. It can be pretty cool
sometimes, but usually, it sucks.
(BEAT)
Sometimes it happens in my dreams,
but every once in a while it'll
happen in broad daylight. I'll be
staring off into space as if in a
trance, and once it breaks, I'll
start bawling, just crying. My
pastor saw me do it once, and
described it as "visions of
death", and that's exactly what
they are. Some people think its
great, they would love to be able
to see the things I see. But they
don't know the half of it. Being
able to see things before they
happen is not as great as it
sounds. |
MIKE
Wow, I never thought of it like
that. I just thought it would be
cool to see things before they
happen. |
6.
JASON
It's not so great. Sometimes I
wish I could make it all just
dissapear, and live like a normal
person for once in my life. I wish
I could give it away to someone,
or...no. I would never want anyone
to feel this pain, this suffering. |
JASON
Like hell. One day last year I saw
my best friend. We were both
walking down the street going to
the liqour store. I remember him
telling me that he was going to be
an archaelogist when he grew up.
He never made it that far. |
JASON
All of a sudden he just stopped
walking, and stood there, staring
up at the sky. I called his name
to see what was wrong, but he just
stood there staring. Then he fell,
face forward. I ran over to him,
and turned him over. There were
holes all over his body, and blood
was dripping from every one of
them.
(BEAT)
Three days later it happened. We
were walking down the main street,
just like in my vision, and all of
a sudden a black truck turned the
corner. There were four men
leaning out the windows with guns.
And they fired, over, and over.
Then they drove off, laughing. And
there was Mark, lying on the
grown, surrounded by a pool of
blood. I kneeled down beside him
an dcovered up the bullet wounds
with my shirt, and with my socks. |
MIKE
Didn't anyone see it happen?
Didn't anyone call the police? |
7.
JASON
Yeah, but it was another hour
before they came. But by then it
was too late. He had already...h
ehad already died...and my hands
were covered with his blood. |
MIKE
Did the police ever catch the guys
who did it? |
JASON
No, but I will. I'm going to find
those guys, and make them pay. |
JASON
No you're not. I have to fight my
own battles. |
MIKE
But what's a battle without an
army? |
INT. MIKE'S KITCHEN - NIGHT |
KRISTI COMES IN THE FRONT DOOR. |
TYLER
Hey honey
(they embrace)
How was school?
KRISTI
Horrible...my proffessor lost my
report, again...Where's Mike? |
KRISTI
He left?! Where too? |
KRISTI
Well, when is he coming back?! |
8.
KRISTI
Well what do you know?!! |
TYLER
Listen, we got into a little fight
that's all. I... |
KRISTI
You got into a fight? With my 15
year old son?! |
TYLER
I sorta yelled at him.He ran out
before I could stop him. He said
to tell you that he'd be back
later tonight. |
KRISTI
You yelled at him? Baby, we've
been trying to get him to like you
for 7 years. You're not making it
any better by yelling at him. |
TYLER
I know...I lost my temper. |
KRISTI
(sits down)
Do you know where he might be
headed? |
TYLER
No. Don't worry too much,he'll
come back soon. He knows what time
you get out. |
INT. BACK AT THE CLUBHOUSE - NIGHT |
Jason is gathering his stuff to leave. |
MIKE
Where are you going? |
JASON
Out to get dinner. Wanna come?
9.
MIKE
Yeah, I have fifty bucks for food.
Where are we going?
JASON
Well I was going to go over to the
alley behind the pizza place, you
know people never finish the pizza
with pineapples? |
MIKE
(laughs)
Why don't we just go inside the
pizza place, which is called
Pizzaroo by the way, and order a
large pizza with pineapples, and
finish it! |
JASON
Sounds great!!Let's go. |
They are now walking outside, it is dark and they are
walking down a busy street. |
JASON
I still think we should have used
the back way. I have a strange
feeling. |
MIKE
Strange as in psychic feeling
strange, or just plain strange? |
JASON
I don't know...probably both. |
MIKE
You think something bad's going to
happen? |
MIKE
Well let's hurry up and get there! |
JASON
Okay
(beat)
What can you do? |
10.
JASON
You said you were an Indigo,
what's your gift? |
MIKE
its...Psychometry..it means I can
pick up on psychic vibrations on
any inanimate object. Like you
shoes, I know that youve had them
for a month, and that they didn't
belong to you before. |
JASON
That's pretty awesome!! Yea, I
found them. |
MIKE
No you didn't, they were left
outside and you grabbed them off
someones porch. |
JASON
You can tell all that just by
looking at my shoes? |
MIKE
Yeah, but I have to watch who I
tell, it got out to the wrong
people at my old school, and I was
the freak of the school until we
moved. And you would think that
they'd say it was cool, and be my
friend... |
JASON
Yeah, I know what you mean, when
my parents found out about it,
they decided to get money off of
me, making me tell scientists if
theres a cure for a disease. or
inventors if their inventions will
work. |
MIKE
Is that why you ran away? |
11.
JASON
I didnt run. I didn't tell them
their future, so they kicked me
out, told me never to come back
until I'm ready to make them rich. |
JASON
Yeah, but anyways, back to your
psyco whatever...how does it work?
I mean, how can you tell all these
things? |
MIKE
Psychometry, it's kind of
complicated, but basically,..when
ever anyone touches something,
they are laying down information
about themselves on the object.
Like a tape recorder. The
vibrations that the object give
off, carry this information, and
Psychometrists like myself, can
read these vibrations. |
JASON
So, do you like hear something
or.. |
MIKE
No, I see it in my head, like a
picture. I can't see moving
things, like videos, just
pictures, flashing by to make up
an event. Like if I was to see
someone robbing a bank, I would
see a series of pictures about the
crime. |
JASON
Sweet!! Your gift is way cooler
than mine...at least you can
control what you see. |
JASON
No. I see whatever is there for me
to see. |
12.
MIKE
That must suck, I guess I am
pretty lucky! But it would still
be cool to see the future.
Jason stares at him coldly. |
MIKE
I mean...the good stuff. You
know...sorry!! |
JASON
Aww,...dont worry about it man. |
They walk silently for a moment. |
All of a sudden, a group of kids running from 3 big guys
runs past them and knocks MIKE down. The three big guys
stop, sees MIKE and suspects him of being one of those kids. |
GANGSTER 1
You think this is funny kid?? Huh? |
JASON
I think you have the wrong person,
the kids you're looking for ran
that way. |
GANGSTER 2
Shut up!!
(Pushes JASON on
the ground) |
GANGSTER 1
(Kicks JASON in
his side) |
GANGSTER 3
Think you're so bad now? Huh??
(picks JASON up by
his shirt and
slams him against
building.) |
They continue to beat up JASON forgetting about MIKE who
runs |
13.
MIKE
Help!! Somebody help us! |
GANGSTER 2
Hey kid! Come back here!
(chases MIKE) |
A girl who looks to be around MIKE and JASON'S age fumbles
through her purse to get her cell phone, as the other two
gangsters continue beating up JASON. She gets her phone, and
drops it down the sewer. We see her stare hard at JASON, and
he suddenly looks surprised, and starts to smile, which
causes them to hit him harder.
She finds her phone and calls 911. She's about to leave when
JASON sees her. |
INT. HOPSITAL ROOM - NIGHT |
JASON is in the hospital, MIKE is standing next to his bed. |
JASON
(opens eyes slowly) |
JASON
Wha...What happened? Where's
Lauren? |
JASON
Lauren, the girl that called the
cops.... Where is she? |
MIKE
I think you have one too many head
cuncussions. |
JASON
No, she's real, I can prove
it,...here she comes. |
MIKE
Yeah, right, why don't you just
get some more... |
He is interrupted by a knock on the door, and a girl around
his age comes in. |
14.
MIKE (cont.)
Who are you? |
LAUREN
(extends her hand
towards him)
I'm Lauren...
(Mike stares at
Jason obviously
confused.)
I saw what happened last night, I
just wanted to make sure he was
alright. |
MIKE
So, you two know each other? |
LAUREN
Not exactly, I've seen him around. |
MIKE
So you go to the same school? |
JASON
I stopped going to school a long
time ago. |
MIKE
Well, what's going on here? |
JASON
Let me explain, Lauren here is an
Indigo as well...right. |
LAUREN
Yes, but how did you know about... |
JASON
(cutting her off)
Because so are we. You were at the
pizza place, and saw those jerks
beating me up, so you stopped the
pain. right? |
LAUREN
Right, but how did you... |
JASON
(cutting her off
again)
Because, I'm psychic...that's my
(MORE)
15.
JASON (cont'd)
gift...seeing. |
MIKE
So let me get this straight,
(to LAUREN)
you can heal people
(to JASON)
and you finish peoples sentences.
(to LAUREN)
You were at the "crime scene" so
to say, and healed him while he
was getting jumped.
(to JASON)
You saw her, and somehow found
out her name. Is that right so
far? |
MIKE
Okay, but what I'm confused about
is how you knew she was coming in
here before she knocked. |
LAUREN
(laughs)
I can answer this one. Because I
also have the ability to recieve a
psychic connection to whomever I
please. With their permission of
course. Jason here accepted, and
when I was walking down the hall I
told him I was coming. |
MIKE
(still confused)
So it's like telepathy. |
LAUREN
Kind of,only we don't exactly talk
like that. I just think whatever I
want to tell him, and he recieves
it, not like he hears it in his
head, it's more like a feeling.
(she pauses so he
can take it all
in)
for example...may I? |
16.
She smiles, and MIKE stands up. |
LAUREN
Why did you just stand up? |
MIKE
I don't know, it was like
something told me to, so I did. |
LAUREN
See...all you have to do is
accept. |
MIKE
But what if the person doesnt want
you to? |
LAUREN
I don't have to have permission, I
just find it more respectful to
ask first, unless it's a life or
death situation. |
Doctor Newman enters. |
DOCTOR
Michael Nomad, your parents are
here to see you. |
MIKE
Tell them I'm not here. |
DOCTOR
It's too late, they demand that
you see them, now. |
MIKE
NO! I'm not seeing them. |
MIKE leaves the room and bumps into his parents on the way
out. |
17.
KRISTI
Michael, look at me...I am your
mother. If you ever talk to me
like that again, You will NOT live
to see next year. Do I make myself
clear? |
KRISTI
Now what is up with you not coming
home tonight? |
MIKE starts to leave, but is stopped by TYLER. |
TYLER
Do not even start blaming this on
me. I didn't tell you to leave. |
MIKE
You might as well have. |
TYLER
(To KRISTI)
You know what, I'm done. |
MIKE
Just like Tyler, when things get
tough, Tyler get's going. |
TYLER
Listen kid, I've been trying to
get along with you for the past
seven years. Nothings changed
since then, why should they start
changing now? |
MIKE
That's your problem. You never
give things a chance to happen on
their own. It's always, "If it
hasnt happened yet, whats the
point?" Maybe if you just tried a
litle bit harder, things would be
different. But that's just not
something you can handle, is it
Tyler? |
18.
TYLER
What could possibly change after
seven years? |
MIKE
Well of course nothing's going to
change if you keep thinking like
that. |
KRISTI
Guys, please,...not here. |
MIKE
Yeah, not here...not anywhere. |
MIKE begins to leave. |
JASON
Wait, Lauren stop him. |
Lauren stares hard in MIKE's direction, he suddenly comes to
a stop. |
LAUREN
MIKE you can't just walk out like
this. |
LAUREN
I'm not stopping you, you're doing
this yourself I can't control what
you do, I just make you realize
what you really want. |
MIKE
I want to leave, that's what I
want to do. |
LAUREN
Well leave Mike, if that's what
you really want. |
MIKE
I will if you stop controlling me. |
LAUREN
I'm not controlling you. You're
doing this yourself. |
MIKE
Cut the crap. Just make it stop! |
19.
MIKE
Fine, So hows yours dad Lauren?
Oh, I forgot, How would you know?
You haven't seen him since you
were five. |
LAUREN
Mike, what are you doing? |
KRISTI
What are you doing to him? |
LAUREN
Making him reakize that this is
wrong. Walking away from you is
wrong. |
KRISTI
NO, just let him go. |
LAUREN lets MIKE go, and he runs out. |
KRISTI
Yeah...you too. Come on Tyler,
let's go home. |
They leave. LAUREN is still upset by what MIKE said. |
JASON
Lauren, don't let it get to you.
He didn't mean it, he was just
doing the first thing that came to
mind. |
20.
LAUREN
So that's his gift. I take pain
away,...and he causes it. |
JASON
That's not what it's like Lauren. |
LAUREN
Then what is it like Jason? He
didn't have to go that far. I was
helping him out. |
JASON
Lauren, it's over, just forget
about it. |
LAUREN runs out of the room. LISA comes in. |
LISA
What was that all about? |
JASON
Nothing. Thanks for letting me
stay here tonight Ms.Hall. |
LISA
Oh, you're welcome sweet-heart.
Anytime. |
INT. MIKE'S HOUSE - NIGHT |
KRISTI
What were you thinking, leaving me
here to worry like that? |
TYLER
Sorry doesn't fix anything. |
MIKE
And neither do you. Why don't you
try fixing up some stuff around
here, like you've been saying
you'd do for the past seven years? |
21.
KRISTI
Stop it! Both of you! Now Michael,
where were you? |
MIKE
I was staying in this abandoned
clubhouse with my friend Jason. |
MIKE
I was staying in this abandoned
clubhouse with my friend Jason. |
KRISTI
And why was he there? |
KRISTI
Well I deserve the right to know.
I just want to make sure my son
isn't hanging around drug dealers
and gang members. |
MIKE
He's not a gang member, mom. |
KRISTI
Oh, so he's a drug dealer? |
TYLER
Just answer the damn question! |
MIKE
Just mind your damn business! |
KRISTI
Guys! Look, if you two don't learn
to get along, and soon, BOTH of
you are going to be living in an
old abandoned clubhouse...Now, I'm
going upstairs to bed.Goodnight.
(Tyler begins to
follow)
Where are you going? |
22.
KRISTI
No, you aren't, you are sleeping
on the couch until you learn to
get along with your stepson. |
TYLER
Last time I checked, I wore the
pants inthis relationship, and I
say, I am NOT sleeping on this
couch! |
KRISTI
Tyler, as you probably know, I'm
not having a very pleasant day
today. My son ran away, my
husbabds a completer fool, my
professer lost my assignment, and
to top it all off, Im on my
period!! So, I am not going to
stay down here to argue with you,
you are either sleeping on the
couch, or on the street. Pick one. |
She goes upstairs to bed. TYLER and MIKE look at each other
and TYLER lies downon the couch. |
INT. BACK AT LAURENS HOUSE - NIGHT |
JASON
(knocking on
bathroom door.)
Lauren, are you alright? |
She opens the door and steps out. |
JASON
Walk me to the clubhouse? |
LAUREN
(laughs)
Only because I'm such a
geltle-woman. |
JASON
What are you thinking? |
23.
JASON
What is it that you have to tell
me? |
LAUREN
It's just...when I was connected
with Mike, I saw something,
something about you. |
LAUREN
Yeah...I'm not trying to hurt you,
but...I didn't get all of it. What
happened? |
JASON
Just an accident. Nothing big. |
LAUREN
It sure seemed like something big.
It changed his entire way of
thinking. He began to understand
things more clearly, and
sympathize more easily. |
JASON
I don't want to talk about it any
more. |
LAUREN
Okay, I won't bother you about
it.- Bye. |
She begins to walk away. |
JASON
He was my bes friend. |
LAUREN turns around. |
JASON
We did everything together. |
24.
LAUREN
Oh...Look, you don't have to tell
me. |
JASON
I'm going to find those assholes
who did it. I swear, I am. |
They embrace. |
They continue hugging, LAUREN wipes the tears from JASON'S
eyes. They hold eathother in a stare, and kiss. |
JASON
(beat)
Uhh..I'm sorry...I didn't...mean
to... |
She interrupts, and kisses him. |
LAUREN (cont.)
See ya tomorrow? |
LAUREN walks away. JASON stands there for a while watching
her go. He smiles to himself. |
INT. MIKE, TYLER, AND KRISTI ARE AT THE PARK. - DAY |
KRISTI
(On the phone)
...yeah, I think they're actually
starting to get along. They're
playing catch right now.
(beat)
I know...He's taking this whole
psychic thing really far. I don't
know whether to believe him, or
make him see a psychologist. |
Camera goes on MIKE and TYLER playing catch. |
25.
MIKE
Okay, Okay I need to relax. |
TYLER
(laughs)
Gettin' old huh? |
MIKE sits down. Camera sees his hand touch the grass, he
begins to see Alexander and Melinda walking their dog in the
park. He sees Alex die. |
LAUREN AND JASON ARE
WALKING DOWN A
STREET. |
JASON
So are you still mad at Mike? |
LAUREN
No...He had every reason to do
that...You know, he has a really
amazing gift. |
JASON
He but he still doubts himself way
too much. |
LAUREN
I know, it seems like he can do so
much more than he thinks he
can...Like he has... |
JASON (and LAUREN)
(both)
Hidden gifts. |
JASON
(beat)
Maybe we can help him! |
JASON
Well, you still have a psychic
connection to him right? |
26.
JASON
And you said you can strengthen a
persons desire to do any specific
thing..right? |
LAUREN
Yeah...but where is this hea... |
JASON
(cutting her off)
Well, maybe if you can strengthen
his desire to become stronger, he
can figure out what it is. |
LAUREN
(thinks)
Maybe...here, I'll try. |
She stops walking and focuses on MIKE...after about 5
seconds, JASON puts his hand on her shoulder and has a
vision about the same thing MIKE saw. |
TYLER
Mike..MIke!...Kristi! |
KRISTI
(hangs up phone
and runs over)
Michael...MIchael this is not
funny Michael! |
TYLER
Mike, come on buddy wake up. |
KRISTI
Michael please...
(MIKE looks up at
her and she hus
him.)
Oh my gosh, Michael are you okay? |
27.
MIKE
Mom, you know what that was. |
KRISTI
Michael, please, let's not get
into this again. |
TYLER
Hey, why don't you just give him a
chance? |
KRISTI
Why should I? I can't let him go
around making up... |
MIKE
You believe me Tyler? |
TYLER
Yeah...my friend was an indigo. |
MIKE
Was...what happened to him? |
KRISTI
Tyler! Don't encourage him. |
MIKE
Mom! Why can't you just believe
me? |
MIKE
You can! But first you have to
want to. |
He runs off. |
TYLER
Mike!...thanks alot Kristi. |
LAUREN
You don't understand, noone
understands. |
JASON
Lauren, what's wrong? |
28.
LAUREN
Everyone always says "oh, I know
exactky how you feel." No they
don't! |
JASON
Lauren, you're still connected to
Mike, you're feeling his emotions
right now. |
LAUREN
What the hell do you know?
Nothing, so just STAY OUT OF IT
OKAY! |
JASON
(shaking her)
Lauren, snap out of it okay? |
JASON
(shaking her)
Lauren, snap out of it okay? |
LAUREN
(she pushes him)
Leave me alone! |
JASON
(gets up and slaps
her)
Lauren! |
LAUREN
What was that for? |
JASON
Sorry! You were out of it for a
sec, but we gotta go see Mike,
he's looking for us. |
THEY RUN TO THE PARK
WHERE MIKE IS
WAITING |
MIKE
Hey! Jay, I need to talk to you. |
JASON
Hey man. What about? |
29.
MIKE
Lauren connected our gifts. |
MIKE
You made it so that we both saw
the same thing at the same time. |
JASON
But what does it mean? |
LAUREN
Looks like we got our first
mystery. |
JASON
Yeah...What did you touch when you
saw it? |
JASON
Where exactly where you? |
MIKE
Over here
(he takes them)
right here. |
JASON
Okay, you ready to figure out this
mystery? |
30.
LAUREN
Try to get a location. |
MIKE places his hand on the grass, JASON and LAUREN are
holding hands. |
They see a piece of paper with an address on it. |
MIKE
Looks like we got our address. |
LAUREN
That's not too far away, we can go
now. |
JASON
Well what are we waiting for? |
They start walking to find the house. |
INT. AT THE HOUSE. - DAY |
MIKE starts to open the door. |
LAUREN
We can't just walk in, what if
someone lives here? |
JASON
I highly doubt it, but if you
insist. |
They knock on the door and after a while they go in. |
MELINDA
Who are you and what do you want? |
31.
LAUREN
Hi I'm Lauren, this is Jason and
Mike, we would like to ask you
some questions about your husband?
I believe,... |
MELINDA
Yes, he is my husband, what do you
need with him? |
LAUREN
We wanted to talk to you about his
death. |
MELINDA
(laughs)
His...his death? Why my husband
isn't dead! He's out for now,
he'll return shortly. |
JASON
Oh, excuse us.
(they huddle)
obviously she doesn't know that
he's dead. |
MIKE
Or she doesn't want to know. |
MIKE
Maybe just a crazy old woman who
can't come to terms with her
husbands death. |
The door opens and ALEXANDER comes in. |
LAUREN
Or maybe shes telling the truth. |
MELINDA
This is my husband, Alexander.
Alexander darling,
these...precious little children
thought you were dead. Can you
(MORE)
32.
MELINDA (cont'd)
believe that? |
JASON
Wait, but we saw...and you
were...but you're... |
LAUREN
Nice to meet you. I'm Lauren |
Extends hand to shake, ALEXANDER doesn't take it, but looks
at it instead. |
MELINDA
I'm off to my daily jog, Alexander
dear, please show our guests out. |
MELINDA leaves, and ALEXANDER starts to show them out. |
MIKE
Thanks for the tour, you know it's
a really nice place you got here. |
They leave. Once outside, LAUREN smacks MIKE on his head. |
MIKE
Just me trying to liven things up
a bit. |
JASON
Guys not now, did you see that? |
33.
JASON
The lady, she said everything he
said before he said it. Like she
knew he was going to say it. |
LAUREN
Or like she was telling him what
to say. |
MIKE
What are you trying to say? 'Cuz
I'm lost. |
JASON
She's saying that somehow, she was
controlling him. |
LAUREN
Like mind control. |
LAUREN
I'll call my mom.
(she calls)
Hey mom...Yeah...Can you come pick
us up? |
MIKE
Okay, this is so weird. Do you
think that maybe she's an Indigo
too? |
JASON
I doubt it, I would have been able
to tell. |
LAUREN
Maybe...I got nothing. |
MIKE
But what confuses me, is that we
saw him die, yet hes still alive. |
34.
JASON
Maybe we saw the future, instead
of the past. |
MIKE
But I can only see the HISTORY of
things. |
LAUREN
Maybe he didn't die. |
JASON
He was shot twice in the chest, he
couldnt have lived through that. |
LAUREN
Well how do you explain it Jason?!
He just up and walk out of his
casket? |
JASON
Maybe he did. Look, what are you
doing tomorrow? |
MIKE
I don't have anything planned. |
LAUREN
Neither do I, why? What are you
thinking? |
JASON
I'm thinking that we should give
Alexander a litle visit while his
wife is gone. |
INT. LAURENS HOUSE - NIGHT |
LAUREN comes into the front door, her mother is up waiting
for her. |
35.
LAUREN
Oh I'm sorry mom, I lost track of
time. It won't happen
again...promise. |
LISA
Okay, get to bed, it's late. |
LAUREN
Goodnight mom, I love you. |
LISA
I love you too sweetie.
(beat)
Umm, Lauren? |
Lauren goes into her room and after a while hears her mom
crying. She looks out of her door and sees her mom sitting
on the couch bawling. She focuses on why she's crying and
sees her mom with a gun to her head. Shes about to kill
herself. But her sister knocks on the door and she stops.
Her sister comes in and embraces her. |
LAUREN goes into her room and closes the door. She starts
crying. |
LAUREN
Why me? Why me? I couldn't just be
blessed wit a normal life. Just a
happy me with my happy kids...and
my happy husband.
(beat)
I don't deserve to live. |
She goes to sleep and dreams about her family including her
dad. All of a sudden he disappears. |
LAUREN
(she wakes up)
No! |
She goes into the bathroom crying, and looks into the
mirror. She takes a blade and puts it to her wrist. We see
blood falling into the sink. |
36.
INT. AT THE CLUBHOUSE - DAY |
LAUREN is wearing long sleeves. |
MIKE
What's up with the sleeves? It's
like 100 degrees out here. |
JASON
(looks at her
bacause he knows.)
Are you sure? |
LAUREN
I said it's nothing okay?! |
He takes her to outside the clubhouse. |
JASON
What's going on Lauren? |
LAUREN
It happened again. |
JASON
Who's emotions could you have
taken on that would make you do
this? |
He lifts up her sleeves. |
He hugs her. |
JASON
Is she going to be alright? |
37.
LAUREN
Yeah, she's stronger than me, she
can handle it better. |
They go back to the clubhouse. |
MIKE
I feel so left out right now. |
JASON (cont.)
So, time to get down to business. |
MIKE
How are we getting there? |
JASON
We're walking. Thats the only way
to go. |
LAUREN
Well we better get mnoving. |
They start walking. |
DOWN THE STREET FROM
THE HOUSE. |
LAUREN
I think this is good. Let's watch
from here. |
They start watching until MELINDA leaves the house. |
They go into the house and noones there. |
ALEXANDER
Im right behind you. |
JASON
OH, God, you scared me. |
38.
ALEXANDER
Good, what are you doing here? |
JASON
We want to speak to you about your
wife. |
ALEXANDER
Shes a witch. Shes evil. That's
all there is to say. |
He pops up behind MIKE. |
ALEXANDER
She won't let my spirit go, she's
holding me hostage. You have to
stop her. |
JASON
Well that explains the popping up
everywhere. |
ALEXANDER
Yes it is my gift, |
LAUREN
We want to know about your murder,
do you know who did it? |
DOCTOR
No, you must leave, she is coming. |
MIKE
Wait, I have one more question. |
MIKE
How long ago did you... |
ALEXANDER
Approximaely two years. |
39.
LAUREN
You've been held captive by her
for two years? |
JASON
Well we're going to get you out of
this. |
ALEXANDER
It is too late, she is here. |
HE disappears and Melinda comes in. |
MELINDA
Oh look darling, we have guest for
dinner. Add an extra plate. |
MIKE
No thanks, I already ate. |
JASON
Mike, this isn't time for jokes.
Run! |
MELINDA
Why don't you stay a while. |
Melinda does evil laugh, and throws out her power. Slamming
the doors shut and throwing them into the wall. |
LAUREN
(Yells and is
totally pissed)
I will set him free. |
MELINDA
Oh how cute! You have a crush on a
ghost! |
JASON
(Flustered)
No she doesn't! |
MELINDA
(Mocking)
Oh how sweet! Little baby has a
crush on the big girl. |
40.
MELINDA
(Turns evil)
But now little baby most be quite
as us big girls play. |
Melinda silneces Jason with power. |
LAUREN
You will never win. |
MELINDA
Don't you see, I have already won. |
Melinda sends out her power causeing Lauren's head to slam
into wall. |
LAUREN
Oh, thats cute. That all you got? |
Melinda's power melts off of Lauren's body. |
LAUREN
Now let me show you what I can do. |
Melinda tries to push Lauren back against the wall, but it
doesn't work. |
LAUREN
Oh I'm sorry! Was something
suppose to happen? I guess thats
what my little psychic block is
for. |
MELINDA
Wait! But you're just a child! |
LAUREN
Yeah, a child thats going to kick
your ass. Now bend over bitch. |
41.
MELINDA
(To Mike)
Shut up! |
MELINDA
(To Lauren)
As for you... |
Melinda tries to throw a chair at Lauren but it stops moving
thanks to Mike. |
LAUREN
(To Jason)
Thats his hidden gift! |
Mike's hold on the chair slipps and it hits Lauren. |
LAUREN
(Glares at Mike.)
Hidden gift. Next time, keep
focused. Or else the chair will be
hitting you. |
Melinda and Lauren enter mind battle. |
Jason catches Mike's eye and gestures to a cup filled with
pens. Mike uses his power and sends it to Melinda. They
enter her. |
MELINDA
Ah! The pen is mighter then the
sword! |
Melinda falls and the power goes off of Mike and Jason.
Lauren falls and they catch her. |
42.
LAUREN
(Looks at Melinda)
Wow, her dialog is like it was
written by two 15 year olds with
to much time on their hands. |
Lauren passes out, Mike and Jason exchange looks. |
Alexander appears beside Lauren. |
ALEXANDER
You might have won the battle, but
the war is far from over. |
Alexander disappears and in his place is a dragon necklace. |
Jason enters carring Lauren and gently lays her down on the
bench. |
MIKE
I can't belive she did it. |
Lauren opens her eyes. |
JASON
You did it, you won. |
Mike pulls out the necklace from his pocket and gives it to
Lauren. |
They exchange glances. |
JASON
Alright, come on. Let's get you
home. |
They leave. |
INT. LAUREN'S HOUSE - NIGHT |
KYLA is in LAURENS room when she get's there, going through
her stuff. |
43.
LAUREN
What are you doing?! |
KYLA
Uhh...nothing...just, looking!! |
LAUREN
Get out of my room. And leave my
stuff alone! |
KYLA
You're not the boss of me. |
LAUREN
(Losing pationce.)
When you're in my room, yes I am.
Now get the fuck out! |
KYLA
Ooh...you said fuck! I'm telling

(plays with stuff)

LAUREN
(Grabs her arm)
Get out of my room.
(Drags her to the door)
And leave my stuff alone.
(Leans in close)
And if you tell my mom, I'll kill
you. |
KYLA
Yeah right,
(mockingly)
Im sooo scared. |
LAUREN
(Eyes flash.)
Oh, you will be. |
Leaves the room and slams the door. |
KYLA
(outside of door)
Super Freak!!! |
44.
Walks to bed and falls on it. |
suddenly she hears tapping at the window. |
Looks at the window and gasps when she sees Melinda. |
LAUREN
(Stammers)
Bu-but you're dead! |
She goes to grab a bat. When she turns back around Melinda
is inside of her room. |
Lauren swings the bat at Melinda's head. The bat is yanked
out of her hands by Melinda's power. Lauren turns and runs
out of the room. |
Melinda chases her with a knife in her hand. |
MELINDA
Come on ducky, I'm not gonna hurt
you...much!
(evil laugh) |
LAUREN
Like you were able to do last
time? |
Lauren turns and catches Melinda's eye's and does the mind
battle thing, shooting pain into them. Before turning
anround and running once more. |
Melinda staggers, and regains her posture. |
MELINDA
Oh come on, is that you got? I
thought you were going to kick my
butt! |
LAUREN
What can I say, I find you dull. |
Kyla walks in. |
45.
KYLA
(Rubbing her eyes)
Lauren what are you doing? |
Before she can run, Melinda grabs her with her powers. |
KYLA
Let go of me you jerk! |
Melindas power suddenly fails, and Kyla is set free. |
KYLA
What are you doing here? Why do
you have a knife? |
Kyla backs away, slowly getting angery. |
KYLA
Why were you chasing my sister?
Disappear, You buttface! |
MELINDA
Nice try young one, but your
powers won't work against me. |
KYLA
What powers? I'm not some kind of
freak like you two. |
LAUREN
Kyla catch!
(throws her the
necklace) |
KYLA
What am I supposed to do with
this? |
MELINDA
(scared)
Wha...what's that? |
KYLA
Just shut-up and go away. |
The necklace glows and Melinda screams and disappears. |
46.
Lauren walks forward and takes back the necklace. She grabs
Kyla into a hug. |
LAUREN
I'll tell you in the morning, now
let's just sleep. |
They both nod at eachother and walk back to their rooms. |
Lisa stumbles down the stairs, wearing her bathrobe. |
LISA
I thought there was someone here,
(Looks around)
Guess not. I need coffee. |
Lauren runs up to Lisa and hugs her. |
LISA
Aww, you make me feel like a
better parent...What do you want? |
LAUREN
Nothing. You already gave me
everything. |
INT. PARK - DAY |
Jason and Lauren are walking aroung holding hands. They
stopp, he whispers in her ear and they slowly move their
faces together. Mike walks in before they kiss. |
JASON
ugh...what is up with your timing? |
MIKE
What?! Was I interrupting
something? |
LAUREN
(Sarcastic)
No, there was a bug on my lips. |
47.
MIKE
(Looks at her lips)
Really? Well, it's gone now. Any
way, do you guys want ice cream?
We need to start thinking about
our next mystery. |
MIKE
You know, finding the guys who
killed your... |
Lauren elbows him. |
MIKE
Oww! What was that for? |
JASON
It's fine. You know, I'm probably
never going to catch them anyway.
I should just go on with my life |
LAUREN
(Smiling)
Come on you guys, let's get ice
cream. Mike is buying! |
MIKE
What? Where'd you get that idea? |
Laughing, they run off toward the ice cream area, Jason and
Lauren hand in hand. |
