EXT. DRIVEWAY - DAY

TEXT ONSCREEN: THE HIT

COWBOY stands against BILL'S garage smoking. The door starts
to creep upwards as a car pulls in the driveway. The driver,
noticing the man waiting, stops and gets out of his car
before entering the garage.

As BILL stands from his car, COWBOY draws his gun and aims,
but stops.

                       BILL
Woah, woah, what the hell's going
on here?

                       COWBOY
      (lowering his gun)
Jesus, Bill. I almost shot you,
you know that?

                       BILL
Shot me? What for?

                       COWBOY
Bill, what the fuck are you doin'
here?

                       BILL
No, what the fuck are you doing
here?

                       COWBOY
What the fuck are you doing here?

                       BILL
I fuckin' live here! What the fuck
are you doing here?

                       COWBOY
Jesus Bill. They hired me to kill
you.

                       BILL
What, why me?

2.

                       COWBOY
I don't know. They told me to come
to this address at this time
because this guy, YOU, always
comes home for lunch now.

                       BILL
Yeah?

                       COWBOY
So I'm standing here, at this
address, at this time, waiting for
this guy to come home for lunch.
and you come driving up that
driveway. Jesus Bill.

                       BILL
Well what the fuck? Who hired you?

                       COWBOY
The thing is, I don't know. I just
deal with this other guy named
Bill.

                       BILL
I don't know any other Bill.

COWBOY stands back for a second, thinking. He takes a deep
breath.

                       COWBOY
      (almost whispering)
Jesus Bill.

Another deep breath.

Then, COWBOY turns to BILL, quickly raises his gun and lays
him out.

COWBOY walks into the open garage and picks up an AXE from
against the wall. He walks back to BILL'S dying body on the
driveway.

Bill slowly turns his head to the case on the ground, he
spits up blood.

                       BILL
      (Whispering)
It's a fuckin' cigar man.

                       COWBOY
What the fuck? Like a metaphorical
cigar?

3.

                       COWBOY (cont'd)
You're an idiot, Bill.

BILL turns his head up and looks one last time into COWBOY'S
cold eyes. He draws his last breath.

                       COWBOY
      (bending over)
You know Bill, I always did like
you. But when they paid me all
that money to lay you out, I
thought about it, you know? And
although I really did like you, I
decided that...I like money
more...Yup, I like money a lot
more.

As soon as COWBOY finishes his sentence he raises the axe
and begins to dismember the corpse.

COWBOY douses the body and surrounding area in gasoline from
the garage.

COWBOY gets a match from his jacket and lights a cigarette
in his mouth. He then throws the match on the ground,
igniting the gasoline he had dumped there as well as BILL'S
BODY.

                       BILL2
I told you everything you needed
to know.

                       COWBOY
It's just not what I had expected.

COWBOY drags slowly on his cigarette, enjoying it.

                       COWBOY
So that's that?

                       BILL2
That's that.

                       COWBOY
and the case?

                       BILL2
I guess I'll take care of that.

                       COWBOY
Nice doing business.

COWBOY turns to walk away.

                       BILL2
One last question, Cowboy, 'for I
leave you to your money... how
fuckin' stupid do you think I am?

Just as he asks the question, BILL2 walks forward and
plunges a KNIFE into COWBOY'S stomach, sending him straight
to the ground.

BILL2 throws his cigarette on the ground and stomps it out
quite near COWBOY'S face. He grabs the ENVELOPE from inside
COWBOY'S jacket and returns it to his.

Five thousand cash dollars. After

COWBOY studies BILL2'S face.

                       BILL2
That meet with your approval,
cowboy?

                       COWBOY
That's fine.

                       BILL2
That my highly recommended friend,
I leave to you.

                       COWBOY
I think we have a deal then, Bill.

                       BILL2
One more thing, I have to ask you
to kill someone, too. I'll double
your payment.

                       COWBOY
Who is it?

                       BILL2
      (standing up)
Well, in my line of work, doing
deals like this, it just doesn't
look good if someone opposing
me... didn't die. He's the only
one outside of me and the
recipient who know what's in this
case. That's all you need to know.

He's fuckin' money crazy. That's
all this guy cares about. So in
the sense of "Do you want to get
this job done"? Yes, he's your
man. Because he'll fuckin' do it.
He'll do it to the point where you
won't even know... what the fuck,
ok? All psychoanalysis aside, this
is a guy you most defiantly
want... starting line up. Up
there, hittin' with the big guys.

                       BILL2
So we'll use 'em. This story is
just going to have a different
ending than originally decided on.

                       BRODY
What do you mean?

                       BILL2

                       BRODY
Yeah.

                       BILL2
Well he happens to be the only
other person in this... whole wide
world that knows what's in that
case of ours. And that's not good
business, Brody.

                       BRODY

And after the shot is heard, you
and your man will pull up, and
