BAD GIRLFRIEND

FADE IN:

INT. PHIL JOHNSON'S CAR - NIGHT

PHIL JOHNSON 20, is a confident, charismatic, stylish young
man with boyish good looks. He is by his own proclamation a
self confessed playboy and proud of it.
He is driving his sporty looking car while feverishly
tapping the steering wheel in rhythm to loud eighties rock
music.
He turns the volume button up on his radio and opens the
window.
His head gyrates back and forth, the wind blowing his thick
mane of dark brown hair seemingly in unison with the music.
He sings to himself in a less than masterful tone. The
limitations in his vocal range are quite apparent.

Phil's car slowly comes to a stop at a large detached house
in a quiet suburban development.

Phil hits the horn twice.

                       PHIL
      (impatiently to
       himself)
Come on, Martin. We're gonna be
late.

EXT. MARTIN RAY'S HOUSE - NIGHT

MARTIN RAY a very young looking 19 year old, handsome, yet
somewhat shy individual lacking in self confidence
suggestive of someone that has been catered to for most of
his life exits the front door.

Martin walks towards Phil's car.He opens the car door and
hears his extremely overprotective mother, MRS.DORIS RAY
yell.

                       MRS. RAY
      (loudly)
Drive carefully you two!

Ignoring his mother's concern, Martin gets into the car.

INT. PHIL'S CAR - NIGHT

Martin reaches over and turns down the volume button.

2.

                       MARTIN
Jesus, Phil, thats loud.

                       PHIL
Hey! This is the best part of the
song.

                       MARTIN
I'm sure you've heard it a
thousand times before.

                       PHIL
      (teasing Martin)
Did you have a bad day at work? or
did mommy want you to wear the red
sweater tonight?

                       MARTIN
Very funny.

Phil reaches for and turns up the volume button again

                       PHIL
      (looking at Martin)
Bring some ear plugs the next
time... You old fart!

                       MARTIN
Lets go. Dickhead!

Car quickly drives off.

LATER

Car is approaching BAGLEY LEISURE CENTRE.

                       MARTIN
      (staring out of
       the window)
Jesus, this place is so fucking
depressing. Its enough to make you
want to slit your throat.

                       PHIL
Hey, don't get any ideas. I've
just cleaned this baby inside and
out. Besides, you never know I
might have to entertain a
beautiful damsel in distress in
here tonight.

3.

                       MARTIN
Beautiful damsels?... in this
town?... you've got to be joking.

                       PHIL
Oh come on. Tonight, might be the
night.

                       MARTIN
In your dreams.

                       PHIL
Martin, I swear your the eternal
pessimist... Can you just try and
think positive for once? I have a
feeling I'm about to be swept off
my feet by my dream girl at any
moment.

                       MARTIN
Phil, you live in BAGLEY not on
"FANTASY ISLAND".

They both laugh.

EXT. PARKING LOT -BAGLEY LEISURE CENTRE - NIGHT

BAGLEY LEISURE CENTRE is situated in a gloomy run down part
of town that's bordering on urban decay. Endless rows of
small terraced houses with smoke billowing from chimney tops
engulf the relatively modern leisure centre.

Martin and Phil get out of the car and head for the entrance
to the leisure centre.

INT. BAGLEY LEISURE CENTRE - NIGHT

Martin and Phil walk into the reception area.

                       PHIL
      (playfully)
Locker number 69 please, Brenda.My
lucky number.

                       RECEPTIONIST
      (Handing over a
       key)
Sorry, Phil. Its unlucky number 13
tonight.

4.

                       PHIL
Brenda darling, you're a real
charmer.

Martin rolls his eyes and gets his locker key from Brenda.

                       RECEPTIONIST
      (smiling)
You need a leash for that one,
Martin.

Martin ushers Phil towards the locker rooms.

                       MARTIN
Come on, Casanova, the lads will
be waiting.

They walk into the locker room.

INT. BAGLEY LEISURE CENTRE LOCKER ROOM - NIGHT

NATE BARKER and JIMMY WILLIS are getting changed into their
squash gear.Nate and Jimmy have been friends since their
days in the army, both having served their country with
honor and distinction.Although in their late thirties and
married they still have a bit of a wild streak in them.
Currently their passion is squash, drink and women although
not necessarily in that order.

                       NATE
And where have you two wanker's
been then?

                       MARTIN
Phil, was trying the old 69
routine on Brenda.

                       PHIL
      (smiling)
Come on lads you have to give a
guy credit for trying.
Besides, I had to wait for Martin,
while his Mommy combed his hair
and gave him a goodbye kiss.

                       MARTIN
Piss off, Phil!

                       NATE
Who's playing who first then?

5.

                       JIMMY
I've got Phil first. The little
bugger got lucky last week.This
week he won't be so lucky.

                       PHIL
Only too happy to oblige, James.
Only this time promise me you'll
be nice to that new racket you've
got there. The old one didn't
stand much chance when you smashed
it off the wall last week.

They all laugh.

                       JIMMY
Accidents will happen.

                       NATE
Then its you and me, Martin.

                       MARTIN
      (tying shoelaces.)
Be right there.

                       JIMMY
      (walking out of
       the locker room)
I'll be on the court, Shirley
Temple, when you're ready.

                       PHIL
Your a real comedian, Jim. Just
for that comment, I'm showing you
no mercy tonight.

Jimmy and Nate leave the locker room.

                       MARTIN
Phil, take it easy on him. At
least let him win a game.

                       PHIL
Are you kidding me?

                       MARTIN
Come on. He'll be in a pissy mood
all night if you don't let him
win, or at least get close.

6.

                       PHIL
O.k... I'll let him get close, but
if he starts to cheat then all
bets are off.

                       MARTIN
See you on court.

INT. SQUASH COURT 1 - NIGHT

Jimmy and Phil are engaged in a long strenuous rally with
both men hitting the ball hard to all areas of the court.
Phil plays a drop shot to the front of the court. Jimmy
exhausted is unable to get to the ball.
Phil picks the ball up and is ready to serve.

                       PHIL
Match point.

INT. SQUASH COURT 2 - NIGHT

Good game, young man. Too good for
me.

                       MARTIN
Cheers, Nate.

                       NATE
Wonder if those two are finished
yet?

Suddenly a loud cry emanates from court one.

                       JIMMY (o.s)
Fuck!

                       MARTIN
I think that means their finished.

A knock on the squash court door.
Nate opens the door and Phil enters.

                       PHIL
      (smiling)
I think he took that well. Don't
you?

7.

                       NATE
      (leaving the court)
I guess that means I have to let
him win again.

                       PHIL
Sorry, Nate.

LATER

The CAMERA is at the front of the court looking at Martin
and Phil playing the deciding game. The rally is long and
tiring. Martin wins the final point. He raises his arms in
victory.
Phil slams his racket on the floor.

                       PHIL
Fuck it!

Martin reaches out and puts his arm around Phil's shoulder.

                       MARTIN
Good game, unfortunately for you,
loser buys the beers.

                       PHIL
      (dejectedly)
Shit!

Jimmy and Nate are watching from the balcony looking down
onto the court.

                       JIMMY
Come on you two, last one in the
showers washes my arse.

Martin and Phil look at each other, run for the door and
race up the stairs towards the locker room, elbowing and
pushing each other all the way.

INT. BAGLEY LEISURE CENTRE LOCKER ROOM - NIGHT

Martin and Phil enter the locker room.

Nate and Jimmy are getting undressed.

                       NATE
Hurry up you two. We're wasting
valuable drinking time.

Nate and Jimmy go into the shower area.

8.

Martin and Phil take off their squash gear and enter the
showers.

                       PHIL
Well boys, I'm feeling lucky
tonight.

                       JIMMY
We're going drinking not playing
fucking roulette.

The other men laugh loudly. Phil throws his bar of soap at
Jimmy.
Nate, Jimmy and Martin turn off their showers and head for
the locker area.

                       PHIL
You won't be laughing when you see
me pull the best girl in town
tonight.

                       NATE
      (still laughing)
Dream on son.

Nate,Jimmy and Martin dry themselves and put on their
clothes.

                       JIMMY
      (to Phil)
Come on son, you haven't got that
much to wash.

                       PHIL
Cleanliness is next to godliness,
James. Didn't your Mom ever tell
you that?

Nate and Jimmy are leaving the locker room.
Martin is putting his dirty squash gear in his bag.

                       NATE
      (referring to Phil)
He's going to smell like a whore's
handbag,when he's done.

                       JIMMY
Hey, Martin tell, Yves St
Lawrence... or whatever his name
is that we'll be in the lounge
when he's done.

9.

                       MARTIN
      (laughing)
It's Laurent, Jim.

                       JIMMY
Him too.

                       MARTIN
Come on, Phil hurry up!

                       PHIL
Yeah, yeah, be right there.

INT. BAGLEY LEISURE CENTRE LOUNGE - NIGHT

Martin,Nate and Jimmy are sitting at a table in the corner
of the lounge.
The lounge is busy. Music is playing on the jukebox. Each
man is drinking a pint of lager.

                       JIMMY
      (drinking his pint)
Bah, there's nothing like a good
pint of lager after a good work
out.

                       NATE
Here,here. Cheers.

                       MARTIN
So, Jimmy. What happened in your
game with Phil?

                       JIMMY
I'll tell you what happened, the
little bastard got lucky again.

                       NATE
Never mind, you'll get him next
time.

                       JIMMY
Next time, I'll drill the cocky
little shite up the arse and see
what he thinks of that.

Martin and Nate nearly choke on their pints.

                       NATE
Speak of the devil.

Phil walks into the lounge and approaches the others.

10.

                       PHIL
I thought you'd at least have a
pint waiting for me, Jim?

Jimmy hands over money to Phil.

                       JIMMY
Here, choke on it and get three
more pints in.

                       PHIL
Cheers mate.

Phil walks over to the bar to get the drinks.

                       JIMMY
There's a fair bit of talent in
here tonight.

                       NATE
See anything you like Martin?

                       MARTIN
Their all too old for me.

Two females are walking out of the lounge.

                       NATE
What do think of those two?

                       MARTIN
Not bad!

                       NATE
That blond could have her way with
me any day of the week. What do
you think, Jim?

                       JIMMY
Cracking legs.

Phil comes back with the drinks.

                       MARTIN
You missed them, Phil.

                       PHIL
Missed who?

                       MARTIN
The two that just left.

11.

                       PHIL
      (Waving a piece of
       paper)
Oh you mean Debbie the blond whose
number is 81-3263.

                       JIMMY
You've got to be joking?

                       PHIL
When you've got it, you've got it.

                       JIMMY
Fuck me!

                       NATE
So, where does everyone want to go
tonight?

                       PHIL
We have to go over to the club.
They have a great D.J there
tonight. Besides there's usually
an abundance of impressionable
young beauties, just waiting for
their knight in shining armour to
whisk them off their feet.

                       JIMMY
Bloody hell, listen to, William
fucking Shakespeare, here.

                       PHIL
Don't worry, Jim. It's grab a
granny night tonight, so you'll be
fine

                       JIMMY
      (Flicking his
       beermat at Phil)
Cheeky bastard!

                       NATE
Then its settled gentlemen. Drink
up and lets go.

                       PHIL
What's the rush?

Martin and Phil struggle to finish their pints. Jimmy and
Nate are already headed for the lounge door.

12.

                       MARTIN
Jesus, they drink like fish.

Martin and Phil follow them out of the lounge.

The four men pass the reception area and open the entrance
doors.

                       JIMMY
See ya, Brenda.

                       PHIL
Bye, gorgeous.

                       RECEPTIONIST
Enjoy your night lads. Don't do
anything I wouldn't do.

EXT. BAGLEY LEISURE CENTRE - NIGHT

Nate and Jimmy open the doors to Nate's car.

                       PHIL
      (yelling to Jimmy)
Last one over there buys the
beers.

                       JIMMY
      (looking at Nate)
Does he never stop?

                       NATE
Youthful exuberance, Jim.

                       JIMMY
Cocky little bastard exuberance,
I'd say.

Phil and Martin get in the car. Phil starts the car up and
guns it. As his car passes Nate's car Phil looks at Jimmy
and smiles as he gives him the finger.

INT. BAGLEY SOCIAL CLUB - NIGHT

Martin, Phil, Nate and Jimmy enter the lobby of the club.
Each take turns paying the cover charge. They walk up the
stairs to the entrance to the disco room. Its dark, smokey
and loud with bodies moving in and out of the doorway to the
disco area.

13.

                       PHIL
      (rubbing his hands)
Come on, lets get in there!

Jimmy enters the room first.

                       JIMMY
      (having to yell)
Fuck me! Its hopping in here
tonight. Martin, its your shout,
get the beers in.

Martin fights his way through the mass of people standing
and sitting. As he makes his way to the bar he keeps an eye
on his friends who are trying to find a spot in the corner
of the room near the dance floor.

After ordering and paying for the drinks, Martin makes his
way over to his friends.

                       NATE
      (loudly in
       Martin's ear)
Jesus, I could have died of thirst
waiting for these.

Nate and Jimmy down their pints quickly and Jimmy heads off
to the bar.

                       JIMMY
Same again, gentlemen.

                       MARTIN
      (looking at Phil)
Shit! Its going to be one of those
nights.

                       PHIL
      (nudging Martin)
Hey. What do you think of those
two over there?

                       MARTIN
Where?

                       PHIL
The table next to the door.

Two males join the two girls sitting at the same table.

                       MARTIN
Never fails. The good ones are
always taken.

14.

                       PHIL
Keep looking. There's always
someone out there just waiting for
their "Mr. Right".

                       MARTIN
Thanks for the words of wisdom...
again.

                       PHIL
Hey, Nate, see anything you like?

                       NATE
Plenty!

Jimmy returns with the drinks.

                       JIMMY
So what have I missed?

                       PHIL
Just eyeing up the talent.

D.J plays progressive rock music.
SHARON DAVIS 24, attractive from a distance yet with a heavy
layer of make up and a somewhat "rough around the edges"
look is dressed in a seductive white blouse and a short
black skirt. Her confident swagger and unbashful approach is
suggestive of someone who has had plenty of experience in
the art of casual relationships.
She approaches Martin.

                       SHARON
      (smiling)
Wanna dance?

                       MARTIN
      (hesitantly)
Yeah, I guess.

The rest of the lads look at Martin giving him a roar of
approval.

                       NATE
      (laughing)
Go on, Martin son. Get stuck in.

                       JIMMY
Save some for me.

Sharon leads Martin by the hand onto the dance floor. They
begin dancing.

15.

                       SHARON
      (Yelling over the
       music)
I'm Sharon.

                       MARTIN
      (yells back in her
       ear.)
Martin.

                       SHARON
Haven't seen you here before?

                       MARTIN
We come here every week.

The song ends. Sharon leads Martin by the hand over to her
table where two of her friends and her sister are sitting.
Sharon introduces Martin to everyone. Martin has difficulty
hearing over the loud music buts nods courteously.

Suddenly there is a commotion at the bar. Two males are
angrily exchanging words. One male lunges at the other and
throws a punch. The aggressor's friend breaks a bottle on
the side of the bar and hits the man who is trying to defend
himself on the side of his head with the bottle. The man
falls and three males begin kicking him before others come
to his aid.

                       MARTIN
Holy shit!

                       SHARON
      (angrily)
Thats our,Malcom!

Sharon jumps out of her seat and despite her friends trying
to stop her, runs over to the bar and throws a wild slap at
a man that Malcom is in a struggle with.

                       SHARON
      (Wildly yelling)
Get off him you bastard!

Club officials come over and break up the fight. MALCOM
DAVIS a tall, tough looking young 18 year old male quickly
removes Sharon and ushers her away from the scene.
Malcom and his friends are escorted out of the dance room.
Sharon angrily walks back to her table and knocks back her
drink.

16.

                       SHARON
I've had enough of this poxy
place. Err, ( temporarily
forgetting his name) Martin, can
you walk me home?

                       MARTIN
      (unsure)
yeah... sure.

They get up and leave.

EXT. BAGLEY SOCIAL CLUB PARKING LOT - NIGHT

                       SHARON
      (Lighting up a
       cigarette)
I'm sorry I got involved in that
mess... That's what happens when
your stupid brother gets himself
into another fight... not to
mention the fact I've had a
skinful.

                       MARTIN
One of them was your brother?

                       SHARON
Yeah, him and his idiot friends
are always in trouble. I wouldn't
care, but he's a pretty nice lad
without Laurel and Hardy around.

                       MARTIN
Laurel and Hardy?

                       SHARON
Yeah, the two morons he hangs
around with.

They continue to walk. SHARON looks at him, smiles and links
his arm.

                       SHARON
Lets change the subject.

                       MARTIN
Sounds good to me... do you live
very far from here?

17.

                       SHARON
Woo, anxious to have your evil way
with me?

                       MARTIN
No really I was just trying to...

                       SHARON
      (laughing)
Don't worry I'll be gentle.

                       MARTIN
No really...

                       SHARON
      (cutting Martin
       off)
My house is at the end of this
street, right on the corner.

The house sits at the end of a row of small terraced houses.
Sharon opens the back gate and then unlocks her back door.

INT. SHARON'S HOUSE - NIGHT

Sharon and Martin walk into the house. Sharon turns on the
kitchen light.

                       SHARON
Come in, take your coat off and
I'll grab you a beer. Lager o.k.

                       MARTIN (o.s)
Thanks.

Martin looks around the tiny living room.He takes off his
coat and hangs it over a small wooden chair by the china
cabinet. Sharon comes in from the kitchen with two drinks
and sits on the sofa.

                       SHARON
      (patting the sofa)
Come on, don't be shy.

                       MARTIN
      (nervously)
Sorry, I was just looking at the
family photos.

Sharon jumps up.

18.

                       SHARON
Whoops, nearly forgot the music.

Sharon walks over to the CD player and puts on her favorite
easy listening CD. Martin sits on the sofa and Sharon sits
next to him.

                       SHARON
      (Looking at Martin)
You know,Martin, you seem like a
really nice lad.

                       MARTIN
      (nervously)
I try to be, I guess.

Martin takes a sip of his beer. Sharon strokes the back of
his head. She leans forward to kiss him. They exchange a
soft short kiss. Sharon takes Martin's drink and puts it on
the coffee table. She lies back on the sofa pulling Martin
on top of her. They engage in a longer more passionate kiss
caressing each other with their hands. Martin is reluctant
to let his hands wander too much maintaining his standards
of respect and moral virtue.

Sharon breaks from kissing, slightly surprised that events
haven't progressed from the sofa to the bedroom.

                       SHARON
      (trying to advance
       matters)
You do like me don't you?

                       MARTIN
Course I do.

                       SHARON
Its just that... most lads would
have had me upstairs by now.

                       MARTIN
      (hesitant)
I err... haven't had a lot of
experience with this sort of
thing.

                       SHARON
I guess its kinda nice to feel
that someone is actually
interested in me and not just out
to get laid.

19.

                       MARTIN
We're a dying breed.

                       SHARON
What do you mean?

                       MARTIN
I mean that... I guess, I'm a
little old fashioned. You know the
"getting to know each other
routine" and all that.

                       SHARON
The men I've known only wanted one
thing.

                       MARTIN
Well, I'm not like that.

                       SHARON
I can tell. You're different to
the others.

                       MARTIN
You're kind of different
too.Definitely exciting and
certainly unpredictable.

                       SHARON
      (laughing)
I'll take that as a compliment...
But if you want some excitement
now, we could go upstairs.

                       MARTIN
      (trying to avoid
       the issue.)
Well, It's kinda getting late...
but, I really had a good time
tonight, except for the fight that
is... sorry bad joke... but I
should be going home.

                       SHARON
      (slightly
       disappointed)
O.k... I guess I'll just have to
amuse myself tonight then
(grinning). But listen you won't
get off this easily the next time.

20.

Martin puts on his coat and writes down his phone number and
Sharon eagerly follows with her number. He looks at the
clock.

                       MARTIN
Shit, its 2 a.m.

Martin turns to say goodnight. Sharon grabs him around the
neck and gives him a firm searching kiss.

                       SHARON
      (whispering)
Still time to change your mind.

                       MARTIN
Got to go... Night.

                       SHARON
      (resigned)
I'll call you tommorrow.

As Martin exits Sharon lights up a cigarette, smiles and
locks the back door.

                       PHIL
So what was she like last
night?You sly devil? Sneaking off
without a word.

                       MARTIN
Phil, I'm knackered, it was a long
night... and no, not from what
your thinking.

                       PHIL
      (surprised)
What! You mean you didn't get any?

                       MARTIN
We just talked a lot... you know
that kind of stuff... she seems
nice enough.

                       PHIL
Nice? She nearly rearranged one of
those blokes noses last night.

                       MARTIN
She just had a little too much to
drink thats all.

                       PHIL
Fucking hell! Your not seeing her
again, are you?... Jesus, you are

                       JEAN
Seems like a nice quiet bloke. But
doesn't seem like your type?

22.

                       SHARON
He's one of the first blokes that
didn't want to fuck me the minute
we got through the door.

                       JEAN
      (laughing)
Jesus, he must be special. You'd
better keep that one.

                       SHARON
Yeah, I'm definitely keeping this
one. Listen ,help me think of
something to make him for dinner
on Friday night.

                       JEAN
But, Sharon, you can't cook.

                       SHARON
Can so you cheeky bitch... I'll do
something simple like pasta. You
can't really screw that up can
you?

                       JEAN
You can!

                       SHARON
Come on, help me out here.

                       JEAN
Pasta's fine. What about dessert?

                       MARTIN
      (attempting to

                       PHIL
      (winking)
Gotcha. And of course that means
you were with me the whole night,

                       MARTIN
Ex-bloody-zactly.

                       PHIL

                       MARTIN
I'm going to Sharon's house. She's
cooking me a meal.

27.

                       PHIL
Your joking right?... Martin, did
you see what she did last night? I
can't believe your seeing her
again.

                       MARTIN
      (snapping)
Shut it. You don't know anything
about her. She's just different
thats all.

Malcom grabs the wine off Martin.

                       MARTIN
Hey!

31.

                       MALCOLM
      (mockingly)

                       SHARON (o.s)

Malcom turns around.

                       MALCOLM

                       MALCOLM

some fun too?

                       SHARON
Piss off... now!

                       MALCOLM
Your no fun.

Malcom walks out of the living room, through the kitchen and
out of the back door.

32.

                       SHARON
      (putting her arms
       around Martin)
Just ignore him.He's just trying
to wind you up.

                       MARTIN
      (nervously)
I think he's succeeding.

                       SHARON
Forget him.

                       MARTIN
I don't think he likes me.

                       SHARON
He doesn't like anyone.

Sharon goes into the kitchen to check on dinner. She
clumsily tries to open the wine becoming frustrated in her
efforts.

                       SHARON
Jesus Christ. How the hell do you
get the cork out?

                       MARTIN
      (quickly taking
       the bottle.)
Here, let me do it. There's a
knack to it.

Martin opens the wine and pours two glasses.

                       MARTIN
      (clicks Sharon's
       glass)
Cheers, and thanks for having me
over for dinner.

Sharon whispers in Martin's ear.

                       SHARON
      (wry smile)
You can me thank me later.

Sharon finishes preparing and serving the food.

                       SHARON
Lets eat.

Martin and Sharon sit at the dining room table.

33.

                       SHARON
Hope you like spaghetti.

Martin looks at the spaghetti.

                       MARTIN
      (tastes the
       spaghetti)
Yummy, just like mom makes.

                       SHARON
Really? or are you just being
kind?

                       MARTIN
      (Eating another
       forkful)
No, I' m being serious.

Sharon gives a smile of self satisfaction while Martin
quickly attempts to hide his disdain by washing it down with
a large mouthful of wine.

                       SHARON
You're not like other blokes.
You're way too nice.

                       MARTIN
      (joking)
Well, you haven't seen my wild
side yet.

                       SHARON
Woo, I can't wait.

Martin realized he had probably said the wrong thing. He had
just fueled the provocative side of Sharon which made him
more nervous.

                       MARTIN
      (sipping his wine)
I'm sorry, but I just realised I
haven't really asked you anything
about yourself.

                       SHARON
      (pouring herself
       another glass)
This stuffs really good. I could
get used to drinking this.

                       MARTIN
Yeah, it's one of my favorites.

34.

                       SHARON
So what were you saying before?

                       MARTIN
I just wanted to know where you
work? what do you like to do for
fun?... anything really.

                       SHARON
I don't have a job right now. I'm
waiting for something to come up.
Now what do I like?... I like sex,
drugs and rock and roll.
(laughing) Only kidding. Boy you
should have seen your face.
Seriously though, sex and rock and
roll in that order.

                       MARTIN
      (smiling)
Your crazy, you know that.

                       SHARON
Takes one to know one.

They finish dinner and Martin picks up the dishes and takes
them into the kitchen. He puts them in the sink. Sharon
approaches him from behind and puts both her hands on his
bottom. She squeezes her body tight to his and moves her one
hand around to rub his crotch. Martin tenses up.

                       MARTIN
Gee's, Sharon. Steady on.

Sharon takes him by the hand and leads him out of the
kitchen towards the stairs.

                       SHARON
      (turns to Martin)
Time for dessert.

Sharon takes Martin by the hand and walks him upstairs to
the bedroom.

INT. SHARON'S BEDROOM - NIGHT

Sharon sits Martin on the side of the bed. She stands in
front of him and begins to slowly undress.Sharon takes off
her dress revealing herself in bra, panties, stockings and
suspenders. Martin stares.

35.

                       SHARON
So, do you like what you see?

                       MARTIN
      (swallowing)
Yeah, for sure.

Sharon kneels in front of Martin and removes his shirt and
then unzips his pants. She pulls his pants off and rubs his
crotch as Martin leans back in anticipation.

                       SHARON
Scoot up on the bed.

Martin quickly obliges. Sharon straddles him.

                       SHARON
      (excitedly)
Come on. I want you inside me...
now.

                       MARTIN
      (unable to find
       the words)
Sharon, wait.....

                       SHARON
What!

                       MARTIN
I haven't done this before... I
mean not this far.

                       SHARON
      (laughing)
I should have guessed. Why didn't
you tell me?

                       MARTIN
Sorry, but its not the easiest
thing to admit to.

                       SHARON
Come on... don't worry... here,
let me put it in. The rest is
easy.

Sharon and Martin have sex somewhat awkwardly. Sharon rolls
over and lights up a cigarette.

                       SHARON
      (Offering
       cigarette to
       Martin)

No.Thanks. I'm o.k.

                       SHARON
      (smiling)
You'll get better. Practice makes
perfect.

They lie next to each other quietly in each others arms
until they drift off to sleep.

Later. Doorbell rings.

Sharon awakens.

Sharon looks at the clock. It's 2 a.m.

                       SHARON
Who the hell is that, this time of
night?

Sharon jumps out of bed still in her lingerie, she puts on
her robe and heads downstairs.

Doorbell rings again.

                       SHARON
Alright, alright. I'm coming.

EXT. SHARON'S HOUSE FRONT DOOR - NIGHT

Sharon opens the front door. Standing giggling and smirking
are Malcom's two friends SID ROBINSON and PETER CRANE.Sid is
short and stocky with a rough exterior. Peter, known as
Cranny to his friends is a tall young man with long straggly
hair and a distinctive goatee.

                       SHARON
What the hell do you two want?

                       SID
      (Eying Sharon up
       and down)
We thought you might like some
company, Sharon, but I guess we're
a little too late.

Cranny edges closer to the door and puts his hand on
Sharon's hip.

37.

                       CRANNY
You look really hot tonight, love.

Sharon pushes his hand away.

                       SHARON
Fuck off you two!

Martin has appeared behind Sharon.

                       MARTIN
Whats going on?

                       SHARON
Nothing. These two chumps were
just leaving.

Sharon attempts to close the door. Sid puts his foot in the
door so as to stop it from closing.

                       SID
That's not very polite, now is it?

                       MARTIN
What the hell?

                       CRANNY
      (mockingly)
You must be, Marty boy? Had a good
night, Marty boy?

                       MARTIN
Who are you? and what do you want?

                       SHARON
      (interjects.)
Just two of our Malcom's most
trusted imbosils.

                       CRANNY
Now, now. Be nice. You know
Marty, Sharon and I used to be
good friends,( winks and laughs
with Sid), real good friends if
you know what I mean?

                       SHARON
Alright, you've had your fun now
piss off.

                       MARTIN
      (backing Sharon up)
Come on lads, it's late.

38.

Cranny gets angry grabs Martin in a headlock and whispers
into Martin's ear.

                       CRANNY
Listen here you fucking faggot!
Personally I think your girlfriend
was the worst fuck I've ever had.
(turning to Sid) What do you think
Sid?

Sid shrugs his shoulders. Sharon explodes and slaps Cranny
across the face and kicks Sid in the groin. Martin frees
himself from Cranny.

                       SHARON
      (screaming)
Now fuck off!... Bastards!

Sharon slams the door closed.

                       MARTIN
Yeah, I'm fine.

                       SHARON
If our Malcom had anything to do
with this, I'll kill him.

                       MALCOLM
Those things he said about you.
Are they?...

                       SHARON
      (interrupts)
Unfortunately I used to go out
with Cranny, but it was a long
time ago. He was just another
loser that I had the misfortune to
get involved with.

                       MARTIN
Jesus, Sharon, you've had a lot of
blokes like him?

39.

                       SHARON
      (raising her voice)
It's not my fault they're all
morons.

                       MARTIN
      (Trying to calm
       her)
Sorry.Lets just forget it.

Sharon lights up a cigarette.

                       MARTIN
      (reaching for the
       cigarettes)
I think I need one of those.

                       SHARON
Don't worry. I think you scared
them away.

They both laugh.

                       SHARON

       cigarette)
Here, give me that before you
choke on it.

Martin gets into bed.

Sharon puts out the cigarettes. She sits on the side of the
bed and starts to take off her lingerie.

                       MARTIN
      (wrapping his arms
       around Sharon's
       neck)
Now, who's the spoilsport?

                       SHARON
      (turning quickly)
Thats it. This means war.

Sharon and Martin roll around the bed playfully.

Sharon stops and pulls Martin on top of her. She wraps her
legs around his back.

                       SHARON

                       MARTIN
No thanks. I'll call you later,if
I'm still alive.

                       PHIL

No. Please. That would only make

                       MRS. RAY
Oh my... Well I guess you'll have

                       MARTIN
      (relieved)
O.k. I'll take it over later.

                       SHARON
      (annoyed)
What took you so long to answer,

                       SHARON
      (more mellow)
Are you coming over tonight? I'll
make it worth your while... oh and

That fucking bastard!

Sharon looks in the mirror and shatters it with a full on
punch. Blood instantly seeps from her hand.

                       SHARON
      (furious)
Does he think he can just fuck me
and leave me? The bastard is just
like all the rest.

Sharon falls to her knees holding her hand, blood dripping
onto the floor. She bursts into tears and begins sobbing
uncontrollably. She curls up into a fetal position and rocks
back and forth in a self soothing manner.

                       SHARON
I accidently cut it on some glass.

                       MARTIN

                       MARTIN
Anywhere you want.

                       SHARON
      (in Martin's ear)
I love that new boutique on the
high street. Lets go there first.
They have some real sexy stuff in
there, especially in the lingerie
department.

                       MARTIN
      (sarcastically)
Can't wait.

Sharon grabs Martin's hand and puts it on her thigh and
slowly moves it under her short skirt.

      (keeping a low
       tone)
Sharon! We're on a bus for God's

watching us.

Martin looks at the elderly gentleman in the seat next to
them.
The man is looking at them. Martin immediately removes his
hand from Sharon's thigh and gives the man a quick
embarrassing smile.

                       SHARON
Where's your sense of adventure?

                       MARTIN
      (digs her in the
       ribs)
I'm saving it for later. Then I'm
going to show you what happens to
bad girls.

52.

                       SHARON

I know him... I'll be back in a
minute.

Sharon sits next to the young man.

Martin looks on with apprehension.
Sharon and the man are talking and laughing.
Sharon kisses the man on the cheek and comes back to sit
next to Martin.

                       MARTIN
Gee... thanks for coming back.

                       SHARON
Just an old friend. Haven't seen
him for a while.

                       MARTIN

                       SHARON

       finger on his

afford all this?

                       MARTIN
Look, calm down. I only meant...

                       SHARON
      (louder)
I know exactly what you meant. If
you expect me to meet your fancy
friends and dress up for your
bedtime pleasure, then stop being
such a tight wad!

                       MARTIN
Sharon, please. This is not the
place.

                       SHARON
Then we'll finish this at home.

Sharon walks faster and leaves Martin standing looking in
disbelief.

54.

INT. RECORD STORE - DAY

Martin is looking at compact discs.
Phil approaches him.

                       PHIL
Hey, pal. How's things going?

                       MARTIN
Good... real good.

                       PHIL
      (nudging Martin
       playfully)
How's your love life?

                       MARTIN
Well,we've been seeing each other
on and off for about a week now
and I'll be honest, I'm bloody
knackered!

They both laugh.

                       PHIL
So the nasty business with the car
and her brother is sorted out?

                       MARTIN
Seems to be. Haven't had any more
problems. Touch wood.

                       PHIL
      (smirking)
What's she like then?... In bed?

                       MARTIN
Come on, don't ask me things like
that.

                       PHIL
      (arm around
       Martin's neck)
Spill the beans.

                       MARTIN
Lets just say, I have no
complaints.

                       PHIL
Your such a prude.

55.

                       MARTIN
      (picking up a CD)
What do you think of these guys?

                       PHIL
Your not going to buy that
rubbish? Are you?

                       MARTIN
It's not for me. Sharon's got a
couple of their CD's and I thought
I could get her their latest.

                       PHIL
See. That's your first mistake
right there. Never buy them
anything the first week, always
keep them guessing and never
mention the L word. Golden rules.

                       MARTIN
Thanks for the great advice.

                       PHIL
So, what else is new?

                       MARTIN
Nothing much. I think Sharon and
me will probably go to the city
and do a bit of shopping.

                       PHIL
On that note, I'm off. Call me.

Phil walks out of the record store.

INT. AMANDA'S BEDROOM - NIGHT

Amanda is lying on her bed with her best friend and
co-worker LISA HAWKINS 20, an adventurous, spunky young girl
who is as close to Amanda as a best friend could be.

                       AMANDA
What do you think of him LIS?

                       LISA
He's cute. He seems nice enough.I
don't really know much about him,
but most of the girls say he has a
cute butt.

56.

                       AMANDA
Oh and I'm sure that includes you,
Miss Hawkins.

                       LISA
Guys have to have cute butts,
Mandy, even you know that.

                       AMANDA
What if he already has a
girlfriend?

                       LISA
So what?... It might not be
serious.

                       AMANDA
I don't know if I should call him
again. He wasn't exactly Mr.
Congeniality, when I called him
this afternoon.

                       LISA
Come on. Don't give up that
easily. I mean, he could have been
busy or on his way out or
something.

                       AMANDA
I guess your right.

                       LISA
So, give him another call... Now!

                       AMANDA
You've got me all nervous. I'm
feeling like a little schoolgirl
right now.

                       LISA
      (laughing, pouring
       Amanda another
       drink)
Dutch courage... call!

                       AMANDA
      (deep breath)
Wish me luck.

                       LISA
      (kisses Amanda on
       the cheek)
That's my girl!

57.

Amanda calls Martin's number

                       AMANDA
      (looking at Lisa)
Its ringing.

INT. MARTIN'S BEDROOM - NIGHT

Martin is lying on his bed deep in thought. He is confused

                       AMANDA
Martin, its Amanda. I don't want
to be a pest... and if its a bad
time...

                       MARTIN
      (cuts her off,
       pleased to hear a
       friendly voice)
It's o.k. Seriously, your not
being a pest. I'm just laying
around feeling sorry for myself.
Really, I'm the one who should be
apologizing for blowing you off
this afternoon.

                       AMANDA
Forget that.Anything I can do to
help?

                       MARTIN
The last thing I want to do is
burden you with my problems.
Believe me, you don't want to
know.

                       AMANDA
      (looking and
       shrugging her
       shoulders at Lisa)
I'm a good listener, Martin.
Really, I don't mind.

58.

                       MARTIN
      (Feeling a little
       sickly from
       drinking)
I promise we'll talk soon...
Listen... I'm not feeling too good

                       AMANDA
Somethings not right.

                       LISA
How come?

                       AMANDA
I don't know. But he sounded like
he'd been drinking.

                       LISA
We'll just have to go to plan B
then.

                       AMANDA
Whats plan B?

                       LISA
Haven't got the foggiest.

They both laugh.

                       AMANDA
      (throwing a soft
       bear at Lisa)
You dumb shit, Hawkins.

                       MARTIN

have a drink with a friend last
night.

                       SHARON

Martin and Phil stop playing and look up at Sharon.

                       MARTIN
      (out of breath)
Sharon, you can't yell down like
that when we're in the middle of a
rally.

                       SHARON
      (yells back)
And a big hello to you too.

64.

                       PHIL
Hey it's your life pal... I just
don't want to see you get hurt.

                       MARTIN
      (leading Phil off
       the court arm
       around his
       shoulder)
Don't worry about me. Lets hit the

                       SHARON
I've missed you so much Martin...
Me and the girls are going over to
the club tonight. Will you come?

65.

                       MARTIN
I think Phil and I were already
planning on going over.

                       SHARON
Thats great.

Sharon whispers in Martin's ear.

                       SHARON
And if you play your cards right
then just maybe...

                       MARTIN
Sounds good to me.

Phil returns with the drinks.

                       MARTIN
So, Phil. We are going over to the
club tonight? Right?

                       PHIL
Absolutely, and maybe Sharon can
even fix me up with a friend
that's equally as charming as
herself. Any chance, Sharon?

                       SHARON
To be honest. I'm not sure that
you'd be able to satisfy any of my
friends, Phil.

Martin laughs.

                       PHIL
Woo, that there sounds like
fighting talk.

                       SHARON
You wouldn't want to fight with
them either.

Martin raises his glass.

                       MARTIN
I'd stop there if I were you,
Phil.

                       PHIL
      (looking away)
Yes, mom.

66.

INT. SHARON'S HOUSE - NIGHT

Sharon, her sister Jean and her friends CINDY RICHARDS a
rough looking shapeless blond with large breasts and RACHAEL
SCOTT a short, cute, dark haired girl are getting ready for
the evening.

Sharon and Jean are in the bedroom.
Jean is putting on her dress and Sharon is sitting on the
bed putting on her stockings.
Rachael is in the bathroom putting on her make up while
looking in the bathroom mirror.
Cindy is sitting on the toilet urinating.
Sharon gets off the bed and smooths out her dress.

                       SHARON
I think its time for a drink,
girls.

                       JEAN
I'd thought you'd never ask.

                       CINDY
Make mine a large one.

                       SHARON
      (rubbing her
       crotch)
You'll get a large one in here
later, Cin.

All the girls laugh.

Sharon pours everyone a large glass of scotch from a
decanter on her bedside table. They all converge on her and
she proposes a toast.

                       SHARON
To a fucking good night girls.

                       CINDY
Fucking for sure.

All the girls laugh simultaneously.

                       JEAN
Sharon says Martin's mate is a bit
of alright. Any chance you can fix
me up with him sis?

                       CINDY
      (playfully)
I'll fight you for him, Jean.

67.

                       JEAN
Your on.

Jean lunges at Cindy and puts her in a pretend headlock.

                       CINDY
Hey, watch the hair.

                       JEAN
Sorry... What about the boobs
then?

Jean grabs a handful of Cindy's breasts.

                       CINDY
Get the hell off me you lesbo.
Besides, I'm saving these boobs
for someone else tonight.( cups
own own breasts in her hands and
jiggles them.)

All the girls in unison give off a loud woo... They continue
to drink.

INT. KINGS HEAD PUB - NIGHT

Nate and Jimmy are playing darts. Phil and Martin are
watching with pints in their hands.

                       NATE
So,is that bit of stuff you've
been seeing going to be at the
club tonight, Martin?

                       MARTIN
Her name's Sharon.

                       PHIL
      (butts in)
She's also bringing some of her
mates. Right Martin?

                       MARTIN
Yeah,I guess.

                       NATE
Now thats what I like to hear.

                       PHIL
Don't get too carried away. You
haven't seem them yet.

68.

                       JIMMY
      (ready to throw
       his dart)
After a few pints they all look
the same anyway.

Jimmy hits his double to finish the game.

                       JIMMY
I believe that's game over. Five
pounds mate. Hand it over.

Nate begrudgingly hands over a five pound note.

                       NATE
Lucky sod.

                       JIMMY
Come on, drink up and lets be off.

The men finish their pints and leave the pub.

EXT. KINGS HEAD PUB - NIGHT

The men talk amongst themselves as they make the short walk
to Bagley social club.

INT. BAGLEY SOCIAL CLUB - NIGHT

The men walk upstairs to the disco. They pay their money at
the door. Jimmy goes to the bar to get the drinks. The
others find their usual spot next to the dance floor. The
room is dark except for the disco lights and the music is
loud.
Martin looks around the room and sees Sharon and her friends
sitting at the opposite end of the dance floor.

                       PHIL
      (In Martin's ear)
So, where are the girls?

                       MARTIN
      (pointing)
Over there.

The men are drinking and admiring their surroundings. Women
are on the dance floor dancing in groups, occasionally
looking around, hoping to attract the attention of a
watchful man.

69.

                       PHIL
Which one's her sister?

                       MARTIN
I think the short one on the left
with dark hair. Hard to say. I
only met her once and I was pissed
that night.

                       PHIL
She's not bad looking.I think I'll
have a crack at her.

                       JIMMY
      (waving his empty
       glass)
Your shout, Martin.

Martin makes his way to the bar. Martin orders four pints.
Suddenly Malcom and his two friends appear next to Martin at
the bar.

                       MALCOLM
Well,well, look what the cat
dragged in.

                       MARTIN
      (nervously)
Alright, Malcom.

                       MALCOLM
Boys. Where's your manners? Say
hello to our Sharon's new fella.

                       CRANNY
We've met.

                       MALCOLM
By the way. Sharon told me about
the car. Shame isn't it? Nice car
like that. There's just no respect
for peoples property these days.
Right lads?

Sid and Cranny nod and raise their eyebrows in agreement.

                       MARTIN
I don't want any trouble, Malcom.
Besides your sister is here and
I've got friends over there.

70.

                       SID
Woo, he's got friends here, I'm so
scared... Faggott

                       MALCOLM
Sid, be nice. The least you could
do is thank Martin for the drinks.

Malcom takes two pints and gives one to Sid and one to
Cranny. He takes the other pint and downs it in one go with
Sid and Cranny cheering him on.

                       MARTIN
      (protests)
Hey, they're my drinks. What the
fuck?

Malcom picks up Martin's last pint.

                       MALCOLM
      (Raising the glass)
Cheers.

The three of them walk away from the bar, laughing.

Martin is quietly seething at the bar. He composes himself
and orders four more pints. He walks back over to his group.

                       NATE
You didn't half take your time,
Martin. Who do they have, serving
the drinks here tonight? Monkeys?

                       MARTIN
      (looking sheepish)
Sorry, just got chatting with
someone.

                       NATE
      (sensing a problem)
Are you alright, son?

                       PHIL
      (interjects,
       pointing at
       Malcom)
I think those morons over there
were giving him a hard time.

                       MARTIN
      (trying to
       downplay)
Just leave it. It was nothing.

71.

                       NATE
Who? The three amigos standing
over there?

                       MARTIN
Nate, please. You'll just make
things worse.

                       NATE
Don't worry, son. Jimmy and me
will be having a quiet word with
the lads over there... Jimmy come
over here.

                       PHIL
Wait. That's the brother of this
Sharon lass and his two mates.
Martin, doesn't want any trouble.
Just leave it for now, yeah.

Nate and Jimmy stop, look at each other and look at Martin.

                       NATE
All right, but if they give you
any more grief, Nate and me are
sorting them out. Got it?

Martin nodded in agreement and gave a big sigh of relief.

The men finish off their pints. Jimmy heads to the bar to
get the drinks in. His eyes are firmly fixed on Malcom and
his mates. They meet his eyes, giggle and the turn away.
Jimmy walks over to them.

                       JIMMY
A friendly piece of advice boys.
Leave the lad be or you lot will
be on my shit list.... If you get
my drift.

Malcom and his mates look in silence at Jimmy. Jimmy walks
back to the bar and orders the drinks.
Malcom and his friends glare at Martin.

Sharon approaches Martin who introduces her to his friends.

                       SHARON
Let's dance.

Sharon takes Martin by the hand and leads him to the dance
floor. Music playing is Sharon's favorite rock song. Martin
and Sharon dance to the song.

72.

Sharon then takes Martin back to her table, where her
friends are drinking heavily.

Sharon hears a rock song she likes. Sharon grabs Jean and
Cindy and heads for the dance floor.

Phil walks onto the dance floor and dances with Jean.

Rachael and Martin watch the girls dance. Halfway through
the song, Rachael moves over to Martin, sits on his lap and
wraps her arms around his neck.

                       MARTIN
      (surprised)
Rachael, what are you doing?

                       RACHAEL
You seem like a nice lad, Martin
and Sharon's crazy about you, but
just be careful, yeah.

                       MARTIN
Be careful?... What do you mean?

                       RACHAEL
Well, you know Sharon, she can be
a...

At that moment Martin felt a sting from a slap to the side
of his face from Sharon who had returned from the dance
floor.

                       MARTIN
      (hand to face)
Shit!

Sharon grabs Rachael by the hair and pulls her off Martin's
lap.

                       RACHAEL
      (Screaming and
       trying to free
       herself.)
Sharon! Please, I'm sorry!

                       SHARON
You little tart. Get the fuck out
of here before I give you a good
hiding.

Rachael, flustered, grabs her purse and runs out of the
room.

73.

                       MARTIN
      (Still smarting
       from the slap)
For Christ sake, she was only
talking...

                       SHARON
Shut the fuck up! or I'll belt you
again.

Martin stops trying to plead his innocence. Sharon lights up
a cigarette. The other girls sit in silence as the music
continues to play.

Malcom and his friends are laughing.

Sharon gets up from the table and walks to the bar. Sharon
orders a large scotch and downs it in one go.
Malcom joins her at the bar.

                       MALCOLM
Oh, he's a sly one, that Martin.
You need a real short leash for
him, sis.

                       SHARON
Shut up and buy me another drink.

                       MALCOLM
Coming right up. Bartender,
another double for the lady.

Sharon knocks back her drink.

Martin makes his way back to Phil and the group. Phil is
unaware of what has happened.

                       PHIL
      (slapping Martin
       on the back.)
Hey. John Travolta's got nothing
on you pal.

                       MARTIN
I want to leave... Can we go?

                       PHIL
Are you kidding me? The nights
still young, and besides, I think
I'm onto a good thing with the
sister.

74.

                       MARTIN
Lets go. I'll explain in the car.

                       PHIL
      (drinking off his
       pint)
Can I at least finish my pint?

                       MARTIN
No.

Phil and Martin slip out of the room. Nate and Jimmy are too
engrossed in watching the dance floor to notice them
leaving.

EXT. BAGLEY SOCIAL CLUB PARKING LOT - NIGHT

                       PHIL
So, whats the big rush?

                       MARTIN
      (flustered)
One minute we're dancing and
having a good time and then the
next minute she's slapping me
across the face for no fucking
reason.

                       PHIL
Slapped you? Shit! You must have
done something to piss her off.

                       MARTIN
They were all dancing except for
this one friend. She came over and
sat on my lap. The next thing I
know is I'm getting fucking
slapped.

                       PHIL
      (getting into the
       car)
I did warn you. She's not right
for you. She doesn't deserve you.

                       MARTIN
      (getting into the
       car)
I know, but I'm so confused. One
minute things are good and the
next... well (voice trails off
dejectedly)

75.

                       PHIL
Lets go.

INT. BAGLEY SOCIAL CLUB DISCO ROOM - NIGHT

Sharon unsteadily walks back to her table.

                       SHARON
Where's Martin?

                       JEAN
Not sure. He just disappeared.

Sharon looks over to where Martin and his friends were
standing. She doesn't see him. She walks over and sees
Jimmy. Sharon forcefully pulls on his sleeve.

                       SHARON
Where's Martin?

                       JIMMY
      (surprised)
Whoa. Watch the jacket, darling.

                       SHARON
Where the fuck is Martin?

                       JIMMY
Jesus, girl, a million miles away
from you if he has any sense.

Sharon fuming turns around, walks back to her table, sits
down, lights up a cigarette and downs another drink.

INT. BAGLEY SOCIAL CLUB STAIRWELL - NIGHT

The disco is over. Sharon, Jean and Cindy are walking down
the stairs. Malcom and friends walk behind them. Sharon is
drunk and angry.

EXT. BAGLEY SOCIAL CLUB PARKING LOT - NIGHT

People are filing out of the club. Jean links arms with an
unsteady Sharon and heads for home. Malcom and friends
follow closely behind.

                       MALCOLM
      (shouting to Jean)
Is she alright, Jean?

76.

                       JEAN
She'll be fine.Just go home.

                       MALCOLM
Tell her to call me in the
morning.

Malcom and his friends go their separate ways. Cindy heads
for home. Jean continues to walk with Sharon.

                       JEAN
So, what was all that about in the
club?

                       SHARON
I don't know. When I saw Rachael
sitting on Martin's lap I just
lost it... Do you think he'll ever
speak to me again?

                       JEAN
Martin? What about Rachael? You
dam near ripped her head off.

                       SHARON
Don't worry, the bitch will live.

                       JEAN
Come on. Lets get you home.

EXT. SHARON'S HOUSE - NIGHT

JEAN opens SHARON'S back gate.

                       JEAN
Alright, sis.I'll be off. Got your
key?

                       SHARON
      (finds her key in
       her bag)
It's here. Night, night.

Cranny is standing across the street. When Jean leaves he
runs towards the back door.

                       CRANNY
Hey, Sharon.

77.

                       SHARON
      (turning around)
Jesus, you nearly gave me a heart
attack.

                       CRANNY
Any chance of a nightcap?

                       SHARON
I don't think so.

                       CRANNY
Ah, come on. Looks like you could
use a little company right now.

                       SHARON
And what makes you think that?

                       CRANNY
Look I couldn't help notice the
bit of bother that you lot had at
the club... Must have been a real
shock seeing Rachael all over him
like that.

                       SHARON
Well I haven't finished with her
yet and Martin... lets just say
he's got a lot of explaining to
do.

Cranny stand closer to Sharon. His one hand leaning against
the wall, his eyes looking at Sharon up and down.

                       CRANNY
Just one drink. What do you say?

                       SHARON
One drink and thats it.

INT. SHARON'S KITCHEN - NIGHT

Sharon walks in ahead of Cranny. Sharon struggles to get her
coat off.

                       CRANNY
Let me help you with that.

Cranny helps Sharon off with her coat. He immediately
reaches around and cups her breasts.

78.

                       SHARON
What the hell are you doing?

                       CRANNY
      (in her ear)
You look lovely tonight. I
couldn't take my eyes off you at
the dance.

Cranny's hands make their way down to Sharon's thighs
hitching up her skirt in clumsy fashion. Sharon's moans and
gyrations let Cranny know she is receptive to his advances.
She reaches back and rubs his crotch. Cranny bends her over
the kitchen table, removes her panties and roughly enters
her from the rear.
Immediately after sex he leaves quietly through the back
door.

Sharon walks over to the sofa and passes out.

INT. BAGLEY SOCIAL SECURITY OFFICE - DAY

Martin sits at his desk staring into space, twirling his pen
between his fingers.Martin dials Phil's number.

                       MARTIN
      (agitated)
Jesus, Phil, pick up the damn
phone.

Suddenly Amanda appears behind Martin. Martin turns around
startled.

                       MARTIN
Amanda.

                       AMANDA
Sorry.I didn't mean to scare you.

                       MARTIN
You're making a habit of this
aren't you?

                       AMANDA
What?

                       MARTIN
Scaring the crap out of me...
sighing... Sorry.I'm just feeling
a little tense right now.

79.

                       AMANDA
You look like you've hardly slept.
Why don't you go home?

                       MARTIN
I'll be fine. Hey, you couldn't
find me some Aspirin could you?

                       AMANDA
Sit tight. I'll be right back.

Amanda leaves.

Martin again tries to call Phil and again no answer. Martin
buries his head in his hands in frustration.

Amanda returns.

                       AMANDA
      (handing him the
       pills)
Here you go. Take two and call me
in the morning. (giggles). Sorry
bad joke.

                       MARTIN
I could use a laugh right about
now.

                       AMANDA
      (bravely)
If it's a laugh you want, then
have lunch with me.

                       MARTIN
To tell you the truth,I don't have
much of an appetite

                       AMANDA
Come on my treat.

                       MARTIN

How can I refuse an offer like
that... but really I'm not letting
you foot the bill... I'll only go
on one condition and that is if
you let me buy... and that's my
final offer.

                       AMANDA
It's a deal.

                       AMANDA
Do you want to talk about it?

                       MARTIN
It's really difficult. I
appreciate your concern, but I
think I've just got to work this
one out for myself... I mean, its

said or done anything to him.

him...Jesus, what the fuck is

                       SHARON
He wouldn't answer his phone, so I

to apologize for last night, but
he wasn't there...( getting more
irate) so I got on the bus and
then I saw him walking along the
street with this prissy little
bitch dressed to the nines.

we have a quiet word with him?

Just stay out of it.

friend,Martin. What do you think?

                       SID
What do you have in mind?

                       MALCOLM
We politely suggest to him that he
either kiss and make up or...

                       SID
We beat the crap outta him.

                       MALCOLM
Exactly.
Cranny any suggestions?

                       CRANNY
      (casually while
       still playing
       video game)
I say we just forget about him and
tell Sharon to dump him.

                       MALCOLM
      (insistent)

with it. Got it... Good, then its

laugh and a quick shag that's all.

93.

                       SHARON
So your not seeing him again?

                       SHARON
I don't think he's the stick
around type.

                       SHARON
Sorry.

                       JEAN
Hey, don't feel bad for me. Love
em and leave em, that's my
motto... besides,I'm not ready to
be tied down to one man yet.

                       SHARON
      (drinking)

hates me so much.

                       JEAN
Lets just forget about Martin and
Phil for now and just enjoy
ourselves tonight.
Besides that dishy guy at the bar
has been looking this way ever
since we sat down here.

                       SHARON
      (trying to smile)

                       MARTIN
Dance? You'll have to drag me
kicking and screaming onto that
dance floor.

                       AMANDA
That can be arranged.

                       MARTIN
O.k. You win. I'm at your mercy.

Amanda, laughing pulls Martin by the hand onto the dance
floor.
The music is eighties disco.

The song ends.

They momentarily stand looking at each other. A slow song
starts to play.

Amanda and Martin slow dance.

                       MARTIN

for five minutes.

Martin walks quickly to Sharon's house. He enters through

                       MARTIN
Sharon, open up now!

                       MARTIN
      (softening his
       tone)
It's just not going to work.

Sharon reaches for Martin's zipper on his jeans. She
hurriedly unzips his pants despite Martin's resistance.

                       MARTIN

                       MALCOLM

business.

Sharon appears at the door, stumbling, tears streaming down
her face.

                       SHARON
He's leaving me, Malcom. Do
something.

in the kidneys. Martin sinks to his knees. Sharon screams.

                       MALCOLM
We're just getting warmed up.
Right lads.

on the floor.

Sid pulls Sharon off Malcom.

                       SID

girl.

                       SHARON
      (throwing punches
       at Sid)
Get your filthy hands off me you
fat bastard.

Cranny helps Sid get Sharon up the stairs. Sharon is
reluctantly crawling on all fours up the stairs sobbing
incessantly.

Malcom looks at Cranny and then looks at Martin who is
kneeling on the living room floor next to the fireplace.

                       MALCOLM
So what should we do with his
lordship Cran?

                       CRANNY
I think he needs to be taught some
manners. Thinking that he can just
waltz in here and treat Sharon
like some street tramp...
Disgusting if you ask me.

106.

                       MALCOLM
That's exactly what I was
thinking.

                       MARTIN
      (hand raised)
Wait please it wasn't like that.
We're just different that's all. I
never meant to hurt her, but its
just not going to work.

Malcom looks at Cranny and delivers a kick right to Martin's
face.Martin lets out a scream puts his hand over his nose
and falls into a fetal position. Blood is streaming from
Martin's nose.

                       CRANNY
Nice kick, Mal.

Malcom picks Martin up and holds him from behind. Go on,
Cran, take your best shot.

                       CRANNY
With pleasure.

Cranny punches Martin in the face and then follows up with a
punch to the stomach.

                       CRANNY
      (shaking his hand)
Ooh! Shit that hurt!

                       MALCOLM
Wow, the old one-two.

                       SID
Sharon, he had it coming. He was
leaving you for christ sake.

                       SHARON
He would have come back... He
loves me... I know he does.

Sid approaches Sharon. He attempts to put his arm around her
to console her.

      (explodes)
Get the fuck off me!... I hate
you!

Sharon runs for the bedroom door. Sid blocks the door and
pushes Sharon forcefully across the room.

INT. SHARON'S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

Malcom and Cranny look up to the ceiling.

                       MALCOLM
What the fuck is going on up
there? Check on Sid.

Cranny walks to the foot of the stairs.

                       CRANNY
      (shouting)
Whats happening up there Sid?

Sid appears at the top of the stairs.

                       SID
We're o.k up here. Sharon just got
a little...

Sharon appears behind Sid and pushes him down the stairs.
Sid yells as he tumbles. Cranny jumps out of the way to
avoid Sid, who crashes into the wall at the bottom of the
stairs and instantly breaks his neck.

                       MALCOLM
Fucking hell!

Malcom pushes past Cranny and kneels next to Sid.

                       MALCOLM
      (in Sid's face)
Sid... Sid... come on, Sid, wake
up.

Sid doesn't respond. Malcom looks upstairs and Sharon is
standing looking down at him.

Suddenly Martin grabs a log from the fireplace and cracks an
unsuspecting Cranny across the side of the head. Blood
spurts from his head and he instantly falls sideways to the
ground and lays motionless.

Martin sidesteps Malcom who ends up falling into the open
fire. Sparks fly and Malcom's jacket is on fire.

                       MALCOLM
Put it out! Quick!

Malcom is on the floor desperately trying to remove his
jacket. Martin picks up a poker from the fireplace.

Sharon appears at the bottom of the stairs.

                       SHARON
      (yells)
No!...

Just as Sharon yells no,Martin thrusts the end of the poker
into Malcom's chest. Malcom is squirming on the floor
gasping for breath.

                       SHARON
      (yells)
Malcom!

Sharon goes to Malcom. She grabs a blanket off the sofa and
smothers the flames. Martin steps back exhausted looking in
horror at Sharon and the dying Malcom.

                       SHARON
Oh my god. Don't die, Malcom.
Please don't die.

Malcom stops breathing.

Sharon kneels over his body head in hands. Martin slumps
back in a chair.

                       MARTIN
      (head in hands)
Oh my god... Is he...

                       SHARON
      (turns to Martin)
You killed my brother.

Sharon starts to cry loudly.

                       MARTIN
      (struggling to get
       up)
I have to get out of here.

kitchen door. He glances at Sharon who is still kneeling
over Malcom's dead body.

                       MARTIN
I'm sorry... so sorry.

Martin walks out of living room into the kitchen and reaches
for the back door.

Sharon suddenly appears behind Martin and screams as she
plunges a kitchen knife into his back. Martin drops to his
knees and falls forward.

blood stained hands. She lets out one final blood curdling
scream.
