FEMALE 1 (on mic)
(energetic, fun,
over music)
My dad farmed this land, and his
dad before him. We're real
country folk... [laughter]
(more sober-minded)
I just hope things get a lot
better for folks around here. |
|
|
|
MALE 1 (off mic)
(Loudly, over
music and voices)
Oh, yeah. I've been a farmer in
Upstate South Carolina for 30
years... Making good produce is
what I love, so I'd never leave
it... no matter how things get! |
|
|
|
NARRATOR (on mic)
(Authoritative,
but cheerful)
78% of Greenville's produce still
comes from commercial farms over
300 miles away. Isn't it time we
start caring for our own
community? Be a revolutionary.
Support local farmers. |

YOUNG WOMAN (fading on mic)
(fun laughter) (enthusiastically,
but clearly, as
bed volume
softens)
I've always considered myself a
good person, you know? I eat
healthy; I love my hometown; I
work hard in school... so I
started to think, "I take care of
myself, but what am I giving back
to my community?"
That's when a friend gave me a
copy of Roots Magazine. It
connected me with other conscious
individuals and organizations by
sharing their stories about how
they're working to improve
Greenville. Since my passion is
kids, they got me involved
volunteering with the Salvation
Army Boys & Girls Club twice a
week, and I am more fulfilled than
ever!
If you'd like to find your own
ways to care for your community,
pick up a copy of Roots Magazine
or check out their website at
rootsgreenville.org. |
