BEACHWATCH: DAY FOR K.N.I.G.H.T. (SHORT)

FADE IN:

INT. CHRISTOPHER'S ROOM - DAY

A WEBCAM RESTS ON TOP OF A COMPUTER.

MOVIE CREDITS for the film 'Where are the now? Beachwatch'
play on the computer screen; on the left half of the screen
are a series of images, and on the right are names of the
cast and crew. Music is playing throughout. We see that the
credits are running out. The song fades into the background.

                                         DISSOLVE TO:

A FACE stares intently at the screen, as if looking into a
mirror. The face, captured by the webcam above, belongs to
CHRISTOPHER COLLINS, 19, an average-looking kid.

                       CHRISTOPHER (O.S)
And that's how it started for me;
seeing that footage...and I
thought to myself, "These peophe
were my heroes. They deserve
better.."

A TITLE CARD appears on screen - BEACHWATCH: DAY FOR
K.N.I.G.H.T.

INT. CHRISTOPHER'S ROOM - DAY

                       CHRISTOPHER
I was first introduced to
Beachwatch by my friend Eric, who
runs a website called
'Beachcombers Unanimous'. But up
until that point? No, I hadn't
heard of it. I mean, the show was
a little before my time, so really
my only incentive for watching was
to see hot girls in bikinis
jumping up and down.
      (clarifying)
Which, as it turns out, you can
always make time for.

2.

INT. ERIC RAYMOND'S ROOM - DAY

We meet ERIC RAYMOND, 19, a geek in a hot surfer dude's
clothing. He is sitting by his computer. A website is
featured on-screen: Beachcombers Unanimous; The official
site for all things Beachwatch.

THE TWO INTERVIEWS ARE INTERCUT WITH ARCHIVAL FOOTAGE.

                       CHRISTOPHER (O.S)
I met Eric when we became roomates
in college. At first I didn't like
him because he reminded me of one
of those guys who yells out of
their car window at people on the
sidewalk.
      (laughs)
but um, he kind of grows on you
after a while. Kind of like a
fungus, but with dreadlocks.

                       ERIC
I remember watching Beachwatch as
a kid with my parents, and as I
was watching them,
      (mimicking eating
       popcorn)
ya know, eating my little handfuls
of popcorn, I thought to myself,
"Self, this must be why God sent
dowm his only Son; to make totally
wicked TV shows, man.

                       CHRISTOPHER
I mean, it had it all; saving
lives, exotic locales, sex appeal
oozing out of its pores.

                       ERIC
Mysteries, my bro-ski. That's why
it was so popular. Without that,
it might as well be porn. But, you
know, good porn.

                       CHRISTOPHER
Yeah, I guess you could say I was
a little bit disappointed that the
show only lasted 6 seasons. It
could have easily gone on for
another 5,..20 years, tops.

3.

                       ERIC
Which is how Beachcombers
Unanimous came about.

                                         CUT TO:

FOOTAGE FROM BEACHCOMBERS UNANIMOUS PLAYS THROUGHOUT.

                       CHRISTOPHER (O.S)
      (excitedly)
It's got everything you would want
it a fansite. I mean everything.

                       ERIC (O.S.)
      (also excitedly)
We play episodes where you can
livechat along with other fans, a
place where you can buy Beachwatch
memorabilia, games, pics, social
media, apps.

                       CHRISTOPHER (O.S.)
We even started a fancfiction page
where our most die-hard fans can
continue the story of Beachwatch.

THE FOOTAGE FROM BEACHCOMBERS UNANIMOUS ENDS.

                       ERIC
      (thinking)
Aw, yeah, the fanfiction page.
Dude, that was the best idea we
ever had. In fact, i think that's
where the idea for that movie came
from. Um, ah, now what was it
called? Ah...

                       CHRISTOPHER
...Beachwatch K.N.I.G.H.T.S.?

                       CHRISTOPHER
Yeah, that's it, man, eureka!
Beachwatch K.N.I.G.H.T.S.,
alright.

Eric high-fives the off-screen interviewer. He laughs.

EXT. RESTURANT PATIO - DAY

DANIEL TREBORN, 38, a J.J. Abrams-type fellow, and KIMBERLY
GLOVER, 32, a woman who some would call 'a thicker brand of
milkshake', are sitting outside eating lunch.

4.

                       DANIEL
We always knew that we had some
pretty hardcore fans out there.
People have always come up to me
at conventions going, you know,
      (higher-pitched
       voice)
"when's the Beachwatch movie
coming? Is there gonna be a movie?
Is there gonna be a movie?". But
it wasn't until the "Where Are
They Now?" special on Beachwatch
aired that people started to
really take interest. There were
people who didn't even know what a
movie was, and even THEY wanted to
see a Beachwatch film made.

                       KIMBERLY
Daniel and I had always talked
about doing some sort of reboot of
the tv series. Something that
would capture the essence of
Beachwatch that the older fans
love, while at the same time
attracting new audiences and
bringing that renewed interest
back into the franchise.

                       DANIEL
Like what 'Hawaii Five-O' did.

                       KIMBERLY
      (agreeing)
Yeah, like that.

                       ERIC
So like, when the Beachwatch
creators contacted me about doing
a contest for the site, I was,
floored, man, like literally on
the floor, I was so shocked.

ENTRIES FROM YOUTUBE CONTEST ARE SHOWN.

                       CHRISTOPHER
Kim and Daniel had wanted us to
host a YouTube contest in order to
find the best pitch for a
Beatchwatch film. So naturally
being a writer myself, I thought
I'd throw my hat into the ring.

5.

WE ARE SHOWN CHRISTOPHER'S YOUTUBE CONTEST ENTRY.

                       KIMBERLY
After sifting though all of the
entries we recieved,and there were
a lot.

                       CHRISTOPHER
      (emphasizing)
A..lot.

                       KIMBERLY
We were really impressed by this
guy named Christopher Collins'
entry. I mean, you could tell he
really put his heart and his soul
into it.

                       DANIEL
      (conceding)
Yeah, he really did.

                                         CUT TO:

CHRIS' YOUTUBE ENTRY IS SHOWN AGAIN.

EXT. THE CRAZY HORSE BAR & GRILL - NIGHT

Kimberly and Daniel are waiting outside of the building.

                       KIMBERLY
So as the winner, we invited him
out here to our neck of the woods
so he could meet the cast and
hopefully get the ball rolling on
this new project.

A taxi pulls up in front of the building. We see Christopher
step out and pay the driver. He goes to greet the two
creators. They step inside.

INT. THE CRAZY HORSE BAR & GRILL - NIGHT

Kimberly, Daniel, & Christopher are sitting at a table near
the stage. As they and everyone else in the audience are
eating/drinking/talking, an EMCEE takes the stage.

       interviewer)

Slamabration. This is really
exciting for all of us because
Alexandria Prescott herself is
gonna perform a special poem to
open the show. Oh, I can't wait!

The audience claps in anticipation. While the are clapping,
a woman, ALEXANDRIA PRESCOTT, steps up to the stage and
approches the microphone.

                       ALEXANDRIA
      (chewing some
       serious scenery)
Light! Sizzling you like bacon! A
lifetime frying on the sidewalk.
Sunny side up?!
      (slams hand into
       palm)
NOOO!
      (makes circles
       with her fist)
Scrambled! Shaken, yes, but
NEVER.....

                       ALEXANDRIA

       calm)
stirred.

Audience starts to clap. Some even stand up, including Kim,
Daniel, and Chris. Alexandria smiles and takes a bow.

INT. ALEXANDRIA PRESCOTT'S HOME - NIGHT

MONTAGE OF SCENES:

We watch as Alexandria greets people the door. We notice
that Kim, david, and Chris are already seated in the living
room area. First to enter is a fiery Latina named MARITZA,
Soon after, an older man, DONALD BOTHERBOFF, comes in. He
says hi to Alexandria, but in way that border on sexual
harassment. He tries to greet Maritza the same way, but
thinks better of it and takes his seat.

One more person knocks on the door. She opens it to find a
man, MICKEY MALLORY, well-dressed, standing there. He has
his back turned to Alexandria.

7.

                       MICKEY
      (to no one in
       particular)
....k, and make sure she has those
little candies with the letters on
the . Yeah, those. Listen, listen,
I gotta have them in that studio
by tomorrow, Paula...

Alexandria taps him on his shoulder. He turns to face her.
We see that there is a Bluetooth headset on his ear.

                       ALEXANDRIA (O.S.)
      (politely)
Um, excuse me, sir...?

                       MICKEY
      (trailing off)
...they're like her lucky charm,
she won't... perform....
      (touches button on
       headset)
Paula, I'll call you back.
      (shakes
       Alexandria's hand)
Hi, Mickey Mallory, Five Star
Talent Agency. Nice to meet ya.

                       ALEXANDRIA
Yes, well, hello yourself. Um.. I
don't believe I know you.

                       MICKEY
Oh that's right, I forgot. You
don't know me , but perhaps you
know my client, Violet Reigns?

                       ALEXANDRIA
Yes, yes , Violet, of course. She
is...was..my co-star. Where is
she, is she here?

                       MICKEY
Uh, no, actually. She's on tour
right now, so she couldn't make
it.

her trance.

                       ALEXANDRIA

INT. ALEXANDRIA PRESCOTT'S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

We see everyone sitting around eating and conversing. The
mood is a pleasant one. Alexandria stands up and tries to
get the attention of everyone.

                       ALEXANDRIA
Well. I must say, it is so good to
see everyone again. I'm so glad
everyone could make it out. Kim,
Dan, I haven't seen you guys since
last year's Beachtoberfest, so I'm
especially glad you two could come
out. How are things?

                       KIMBERLY
Things are good.

                       DANIEL
Yeah, they're good. "Flotsam &
Jetsam" got renewed for two more
seasons.

                       ALEXANDRIA
Oh, that's wonderful!

Everyone else agrees.

                       ALEXANDRIA
Well, as you all know, I'm not one
to hog the spotlight...

Donald flashes her a look that's like a cross between "she's
lying" and "I have to go to the bathroom".

9.

                       ALEXANDRIA
....but I just would like every to
hear from the boy who's
responsible for all of us coming
together this evening. Say hi to
Chris, everybody.

Everyone says hello to Chris. Chris greets everyone back.

                       ALEXANDRIA
Now as you all know, we all got a
copy of the script for the new
Beachwatch movie. I, personally
have nothing but good things
things to say about it, but I'm
sure Chris here..
      (puts hand on his
       shoulder)
..would like to hear what you guys
think, wouldn't you, Chris?

                       CHRISTOPHER
      (nervously)
Oh. Yeah, absolutely.
      (clears throat)
So,ah, are there any questions, or
anything you guys would like to
know? First off, I'd just like to
say how unbelievably cool it is to
meet you guys. I mean seriously,
this is a honor.

                       DONALD
I have someting I'd like to add.
Uh, Chris, is it? Chris, I'm just
wondering why most of the action
takes place at night? I mean, I'm
pretty sure that's when all the
ugly chicks come out.

                       CHRISTOPHER
Well, that's the point. I wanted
to be this to be sort of a reboot.
A kind of fresh start. We've seen
Beachwatch take place during the
day for six years. So I thought to
myself; what would happen if we
transfered our heroes from the day
time to night time?

                       DONALD
But wouldn't that mean that I
couldn't take my shrit off? That's
not fair to the ladies, denying

them

all of this.

                       MARITZA
      (in Spanish)
Like anyone would want to see
that. I'd rather take a bath in a
deep fryer.

                       DONALD
See? my little firecracker agrees.

                       MARITZA
      (in Spanish)
Keep talking, fat man, and I'll
chop off your little firecracker.

                       CHRISTOPHER
Well, I woldn't worry about that.
There'll be plenty of action in
it, if you get my meaning. You'll
have plenty of chances for the
ladies to see....
      (feeling
       uncomfortable)
..all of..that. Besides, I'm sure
ugly chicks put out, too.

                       DONALD
Somehow I don't think that's as
appealing as you make it sound.

                       DANIEL
Part of what makes Beachwatch
K.N.I.G.H.T.S so appealing is the
fact that it is a new locale, with
brand new faces. It's gritty and
it's dirtier than anything we've
ever done.

                       ALEXANDRIA
Well, I just hope none of that
grit and dirtiness gets in my
hair. I just had it done.

Alexandria laughs, but no one seemed to get the joke, so
they just kind of politely smile.

                       DANIEL
We believe that time is right for
this kind of move. The whole
reboot/remake thing is hot right

stay ahead of the game, and this
is gonna be our ticket back in.

                       DONALD
Look if I agree to do this, I want
my piece. I'm still an executive
producer on this, right? I'm jus
sayin', I have a yacht to think
about now. That is not cheap.

                       MARITZA
      (in Sapnish)
Neither is divorce, asshole.

                       KIMBERLY
Well, we will make sure that
you'll get all the credit you
deserve.

                       ALEXANDRIA
Well, Donald, I think you'll have
to subtract 2% from that, because
that is how much of the procedes
will go to the The Alexandria
Prescott Foundation. Those kids
need help, you know.

                       DONALD
Whoa, whoa. 2%! I don't know how
much that is, but it sounds like a
lot.

                       MICKEY
I heard that. I was there when she
said it. How is that gonna affect
my client?

                       ALEXANDRIA
How do you mean?

                       MICKEY
Well, as her agent I believe I
have her best 10% with interest a
heart. And as such, I wouldn't
even polish my butt cheeks with
the amount of screen time she's
getting in this picture, okay.

12.

                       CHRISTOPHER
It's only the 2nd draft, Mr.
Mallory. She is a big part of the
team. However, I'm certain I can
expand her role a little more.

                       MICKEY
I'm sure you can, sport. And since
we're the subject of "expanding",
      (making air quotes)
you should seriously reconsider
limiting her catchphrase, because
according to this, she's saying
"c'mon, I know what I'm doing" 3
times in this script, when I know
for a fact she doesn't get out of
bed for any less than 7 of those.

                       ALEXANDRIA
I thought it was "come here, I'll
be around".

                       MICKEY
Bless you.

                       DONALD
Well, I don't know about all this
dark stuff, but if it gets me paid
and laid without necessarily being
it that order, then I say count me
in. And, ah, speaking of which...
      (turns to Maritza)
say there, my little soft taco;
since I figure you're gonna take
half anyway you mind if I take one
of these..?

Donald reaches for one of Maritza's breasts, but Maritza
grabs his arm before he can succeed. She twists it, causing
his body to lean forward. His head strikes the table, pain
written all over his. The rest of the group is taken aback
by this new development. Maritza gets up and makes a beeline
for the door, giving Donald a few choice word in her native
tongue. She opens the door and makes her way out, slamming
the door behind her.

                       CHRISTOPHER
      (amazed)
Cool.

                       ALEXANDRIA
Well that was...entertaining.

13.

                       CHRISTOPHER
I'll say.

                       MICKEY
Anyone know what the hell she was
saying?

                       KIMBERLY
I think she was talking about
sheep, uh, towards the end, there
      (to Donald)
Hey, Don, are you ok?

                       DONALD
      (still licking his
       wounds)
Oh, yeah, Kimmy, I'll be okay. I
would'nt read too much into that,
though. Oh, yeah, Kimmy, I'll be
okay. I would'nt read too much
into that, though. In her culture,
stuff like this is considered
foreplay.

                       CHRISTOPHER
      (whispering)
That is so hot.

                       DONALD
Besides, she's probably on her way
to the gym to work off some of
that pent-up energy. Can't say I
blame her. I tend to have that
effect on women.

                       DANIEL
Wait, she's going to the...gym? So
she's gonna be all....sweaty?

                       CHRISTOPHER
And breathing hard?

                       MICKEY
And wearing really tight
form-fitting clothing?

All the men in the room look at each other as if an alarm
went off in their brains in the exact same time. They
realize this and head for the door as if their lives
depended on it. All the men fight their way out of the door.
The women are left in the dust, dumbfounded.

INT. BECHWATCH K.N.I.G.H.T.S. SET - DAY

MONTAGE OF SCENES

A unknown amount of time has passed. We watch as production
on Beachwatch K.N.I.G.H.T.S. begins; hair and makeup being
worked on, wardrobe fittings, sets being constructed, etc.
Behind-the-scenes moments are captured as the cast reads
their lines, interacts with the crew/each other, and even do
their own stunts (some do, others opt for doubled)
Production ends, and we see the eventual wrap party.

                                         CUT TO:

INT. BEACHTOBERFEST CONVENTION - DAY

Donzens of people are in attendence. We see some walking
around dressed like their favorite characters. A few booths
are scattered about, and some even have women standing
around with the phrase "Beach Bum" written on the backsides
of their shorts. Truly a geek paradise.

At the center of the hall, we see a set of doors. As people
make their way in, a stage is visible in the center of the
room. On stage is a table and behind it is a giant screen.
We see others standing while others take their seat. Eric is
among them. He watches like everyone else as the cast of
Beachwatch takes the stage one by one. The audience cheers
and whistles as they all wave and take their seat.

Eric waves at Chrs on stage. Chris sees him and waves back.
As Eric stand and watches with the rest of the audience, a
bald African-American man appoaches Eric. ANDREW MANN, AKA
'SKIPPY', procedes to tap him on the shoulder.

                       ANDREW
Hey, uh, you know that guy?

                       ERIC
Yeah, dude, he's kind of like my
friend, you know. It's pretty
sweet.

                       ANDREW
Cool, man, cool. Hey, listen, do
you know if they've started yet?

                       ERIC
Yeah, everyone's on stage now. Why
do you ask, Bro-seph?

15.

                       ANDREW
Oh, nothing, it's just...well, I
was supposed to be on that stage
today. But traffic got backed up
I-4 and I ended up being late,
so...

                       ERIC
Oh, dude, are you like famous or
somethin'? Hey can you, like, give
me your autograph?

                       ANDREW
      (surprised)
Oh, sure.

Eric pulls out a photo and hands it to Andrew. Andrew takes
the photograph and takes a look at it. We realizes that Eric
has given him a photo of Donald, which has been already been
signed by Donald himself. Andrew shakes his head.

On stage, we see the director of Beachwatch K.N.I.G.H.T.S.,
ELIOT DESCHAMPS, talking to the audience.

                       ELIOT
...and I'd just like to let
everyone know that I am pleased to
announce that Beachwatch
K.N.I.G.H.T.S. will have its world
premiere as the opening night film
at the next Florida Film Festival.
So let's show some love!

The audience claps, showing their love.

                       ELIOT
But that doesn't mean that we
don't have something to show all
you Beachcombers that came out
today. Not only is myself and the
cast here to aswer all those
burning questions you may have,
but as a special treat, we have
brought with us the trailer for
the film right here for all to
see, what do you think of that,
huh? Now I know, I know that to
some people, that alone would be
enough fo most fans, but we are
not most fans, are we? So as a way
of putting the icing on this cake,
we have for you a very special
musical guest for you all. While
