FADE IN:
INT. BEDROOM - DAY |
A monster lies on the bed. A CRACKING sound. The monster
stands up. He casually walks through the hall and into the
kitchen. |
INT. KITCHEN - DAY |
The monster grabs a cup of hot coffee sitting on the counter
and then slumps across the kitchen towards the window. |
Young humans frolic in his backyard. They throw the
monster's stuff about and yip and yap as they mock him
through the window. |
HUMAN BOY 1
Hey Jeremy! What do you think of
this! |
We zoom up on Jeremy's eyes and hear the blood curdling
SCREECH of a cat. |
The monster sighs, forcing himself out of the chair. |
Jeremy bursts out the door into the backyard. |
EXT. BACKYARD - DAY |
HUMAN BOY 1
You can't catch us! You're too old
and fat now! |
Jeremy walks up to the boy, punching him straight across the
face, slamming the boy's head into the ground. |
HUMAN BOY 2
Uh. . . hey, maybe we can talk
about this? |
In panic, the boy sprints to exit the backyard. Jeremy pulls
his own pants up to his stomach, grumbles, and pursues. |
2.
Jeremy jumps a seemingly impossible length, landing on the
boy's back. He flips the boy over. |
JEREMY
How we gonna talk without your
jaw, boy? |
Jeremy proceeds to rip the boy's jaw out. |
Jeremy walks into his house, sits down, and enjoys his
coffee. |
INT. KITCHEN - DAY |
GRUMBLING can be heard from the next room over. Jeremy looks
up to find GEORGINA, an equally monstrous persona, standing
above him. |
GEORGINA
You killed some more kids... |
Jeremy is ignoring her; he looks in the other direction and
sips his coffee. |
GEORGINA
(CONT'D)
... Didn't you?! |
JEREMY
They broke the rake... |
GEORGINA
You doing this is bad for us you
know! |
JEREMY
and they smashed all the potted
plants... |
JEREMY
and they killed Fluffster. |
Georgina falls into the chair behind her. |
3.
JEREMY
They smashed him to death in a
very undignified way. |
GEORGINA
Listen to me Jeremy! I'm pleading
to you! |
JEREMY
No. I did what was right. |
Georgina cries as she runs outside. |
EXT. BACKYARD - DAY |
FLUFFSTER
What was an image of a cat is now nothing but flattened
mush. |
Georgina cries over the pile of mush-cat. |
JEREMY
I'm sorry they got the cat. I
wasn't fast enough. |
JEREMY
(sigh)
I guess I better start cleaning
this up. |
Jeremy walks up to the side of her, staring at the cat and
then glaring at the dead kids. |
Jeremy walks over to one of the bodies and drags it across
the lawn, to the shed, groaning and moaning all the way. |
GEORGINA
How many boys is it now? |
Jeremy shuts the door of the shed. |
Jeremy walks up to Georgina. |
JEREMY
(laughing)
Twelve and a half if you count the
midget boy. |
Jeremy points at the other dead kid's body on the lawn. |
4.
GEORGINA
That's not funny. |
JEREMY
Hmmm... I wasn't listening. |
As Jeremy laughs the intensity buildng is visible in
Georgina's face. |
GEORGINA
I SAID WE'RE THROUGH! |
Georgina looks Jeremy straight in his eyes. |
GEORGINA
I'm leaving! I'm going far, far
away and I'm never coming back.
I've tried to help you, talk to
you, but you don't listen! That's
your problem Jeremy, you don't
know how to listen and now you've
ruined everything! |
Georgina stomps toward the gate of the fence and out the
door. |
GEORGINA
(off-screen)
You... you.... monster! |
JEREMY
I was joking about the 12 and a
half! |
A ring flies over the fence and Jeremy catches it. He starts
to cry and looks down into his hands at the ring. We
freeze-frame and see the title: JEREMY WITHOUT GEORGINA. |
INT. KITCHEN - DAY |
ONE WEEKS LATER |
Jeremy's head is plastered face-down on the table; a beer in
his right hand and a handful of chips in his left. |
5.
JEREMY (NARRATOR)
(off-screen)
I'm drunk. |
Jeremy pulls his head up from the table and drags himself
over to the living room couch. |
INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY |
JEREMY (NARRATOR)
(off-screen)
Again. |
Jeremy's hand extends over the couch and to the television
remote. He turns the TV on. |
JEREMY (NARRATOR)
(off-screen)
Famous people can be drunk too
can't they? Sign a few autographs,
swig down a bottle of tequila, go
to the monster awards. But no
monster awards now. Just the
tequila. I'm no boogie man
anymore, just a casually drunk
monster. Georgina left. I never
was as good as I could have been
to her, my fist just always seemed
tended to gravitate towards
killing anything that did me the
slightest bit of wrong. |
INT. FLASHBACK- KITCHEN - NIGHT |
Jeremy and Georgina sit around a dining table. Candles are
the only light in the room. Romantic music plays in the
background. |
JEREMY (NARRATOR)
(off-screen)
Sometimes, this is good... |
A man wearing a black ski mask bust through the front door
threatening the couple with a knife. |
ROBBER
Stay right were you are. If either
of you move you're dead! |
Jeremy stands up and jumps at the robber only for the to
robber jump out of the way. |
6.
ROBBER
I'll kill you, don't make me do
it. |
ROBBER
Let's see your hands, stick em up,
right now! |
Jeremy runs up and uppercuts the man's arm off. The man
groans in pain and falls to the floor. |
EXT. FLASHBACK- PARK - DAY |
JEREMY (NARRATOR)
(off-screen)
... But this can be very bad as
well... |
Jeremy and Georgina sit on a bench holding hands and looking
off into the distance. A younger boy jumps out from behind
them and both Jeremy and Georgina scream. |
YOUNG BOY
I scared you did... |
Jeremy punches the boy straight in the face. Georgina
screams even louder. |
Jeremy stares at the body until he realizes... |
JEREMY
Ah crap! I killed another kid! |
INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY |
Jeremy looks at himself on the couch. |
JEREMY (NARRATOR)
(off-screen)
I wish I could blame my fist
punching on my nature as a
monster, but the truth is I'm a
pride stuffed, ego coated, pastry
of asshole. Mostly to Georgina... |
7.
EXT. FLASHBACK- BACKYARD - DAY |
Jeremy and Georgina sit on the law in folding chairs. They
hold books and coffee and look in opposite directions. |
GEORGINA
You killed another boy Jeremy!
Another! |
JEREMY
I...I didn't know he wasn't trying
to hurt us. I thought he was
attacking. |
GEORGINA
What if his parents find out? |
Georgina leans in close to Jeremy. |
GEORGINA
(whispering)
Jeremy, we're the only monsters in
the neighborhood. Don't you think
someone will suspect? I mean What
about the body, someone might find
it. |
JEREMY
You don't have to whisper. We're
in our backyard, every thing's
normal. |
GEORGINA
Jeremy! Are you going to change
the subject every time I try to
talk to you about anything! |
Georgina swats Jeremy with her book. |
GEORGINA
Jeremy! You need to talk to me
about this! |
JEREMY
Well, It is a nice day. |
Georgina stands straight up. |
8.
GEORGINA
Here we go Jeremy, you're not
listening. You know what I sound
like to you? Blah. Blah. Blah. |
Georgina kicks Jeremy's chair and stomps off. Jeremy sighs
and drinks his coffee. |
INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY |
Jeremy stands with his head pressed against the wall. |
THE VOICES
(off-screen)
Hello Jeremy, how are you? |
Jeremy raises his fists. |
JEREMY
Why are you in my house? Who are
you? |
THE VOICES
(off-screen)
Dead, Jeremy. You killed us. |
JEREMY
You're the kids aren't you? |
THE VOICES
(off-screen)
Yeeeeessssss, Jeremy. |
THE VOICES
(off-screen)
We're going to kill you, Jeremy,
unless you repent! |
Jeremy frantically looks around. |
9.
THE VOICES
(off-screen)
Make amends with Georgina and
you'll make amends with us. |
THE VOICES
(off-screen)
YEEEEEESSS!!!! WE ARE!!!!! |
The voices scream and the house shakes. |
THE VOICES
(off-screen)
JEREMY!!! |
JEREMY (NARRATOR)
(off-screen)
I need to get out. |
Jeremy opens the door and steps out only to rush back in.
The house continues to shake and the voices continue to
scream. |
Jeremy runs to the closet. He grabs his coat and heads out
the front door. |
EXT. HOUSE - DAY |
Jeremy rushes out the door and down the street. He runs
until he gets to a trail. It begins to snow. He stops and
looks behind him. Low screaming can be heard from a far. He
continues running. |
EXT. TRAIL - DAY |
Jeremy runs harder and faster, the snow falls harder. Jeremy
begins to get more visibly colder and colder until he can
almost run no farther. The snowing gets worse. Then, muscles
begin collapsing and Jeremy falls on the ground. The snow
engulfs Jeremy. |
JEREMY (NARRATOR)
(off-screen)
It's my fault they're dead. It's
my fault she's gone. |
10.
EXT. HOUSE - DAY |
Jeremy walks along the front pathway of his house and up to
his car. He opens the door, starts the car and sits down. He
looks over to his right to find a piece of scrap paper. He
fondles through the car and finds a pen and starts to write
on the paper. |
THE PAPER |
JEREMY (NARRATOR)
Dear Georgina, I'm a murderer. You
leaving has helped me to think
more about my life and what I've
done. I've wronged you and I've
wronged everyone I've killed. I'm
going to turn myself in. |
Jeremy stares at the paper. |
JEREMY (NARRATOR)
I'm sorry. |
He stares at the paper more. |
Jeremy pushes the door open and slams it behind him. He
walks up to the house and goes through the door. |
INT. HOUSE - DAY |
THE VOICES
(off-screen)
Ah, Jeremy I see you've
acknowledged your bad decisions
with your wife. Especially how you
didn't listen to her? |
Jeremy and the voices scream as we view Jeremy punching at
air. |
THE VOICES
(off-screen)
That won't work Jeremy! |
11.
Jeremy pants and puts his hands on his knees. He looks
around and sees Georgina peeking out through the back window
talking into a microphone. |
Jeremy stomps towards the door and slams it open. Georgina
runs away, heading towards the edge of the backyard. |
INT. BACKYARD - DAY |
Georgina trips falling face first onto the grass. |
JEREMY
Why would you do this? I mean...
what the hell Georgina? What is
wrong with you? |
GEORGINA
It's not what it looks like. |
GEORGINA
You learned, didn't you? |
JEREMY
No! You tricked me! |
GEORGINA
You needed to learn not to kill. |
JEREMY
No I didn't! I was just trying to
murder those "Evil Spirits". |
They both are awkwardly silent until... |
GEORGINA
Fine. Maybe I was upset with you,
maybe I fabricated making you feel
terrible, but you never listen to
me and I hate that you do that! |
12.
GEORGINA
What did you say? |
JEREMY
I said we're through. |
Jeremy walks back towards the house, smiling and cackling.
When he gets to the door he turns around. |
JEREMY
And you know what Georgina? We're
both monsters. |
We freeze and see the title: Jeremy Without Georgina |
FADE OUT. |
